Dr Santanu Sen makes a Special Mention on damages caused due to Cyclone Bulbul

Sir, my Special Mention is regarding not getting central government’s support for Bulbul-affected West Bengal.
Sir, West Bengal has incurred a loss of Rs 23, 811 crore in the devastation caused by cyclone Bulbul. It has affected around 35 lakh people in three districts. Total number of 5,17, 535 houses were damaged. Altogether 14,98, 924 hectare of agricultural land was damaged. Power Department has incurred a loss of nearly Rs 597 crore.
A team of central government visited the affected areas. Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee requested the central government for support to handle this disaster. The total damage might be to the tune of nearly Rs 50,000 crore. Our Hon’ble Chief Minister Madam Mamata Banerjee has been extending all possible co-operation. But the Government of India did not extend any assistance till date.
Sir, the Government of India must take this very seriously to accelerate the relief process of the State Government of West Bengal. Both the Prime Minister and Home Minister already tweeted in the past, assuring support.
