This World Tourism Day, come and Experience Bengal

Today, September 27, is World Tourism Day. This day was established by the United Nations’ World Tourism Organisation (WTO) in 1980.

In Bangla, the day is celebrated by generating awareness about the importance of tourism, and importantly, responsible tourism. The State Tourism Department organises various programmes to raise awareness about the tourist spots, many of which have been established properly by the Trinamool Congress Government.

Wishing everyone on this day, Bangla Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted, “Today is World Tourism Day. I welcome you all to come and Experience Bengal. From the Himalayas to the sea, from the forests in Dooars to the ‘Lal Mati’ in Paschimanchal, mangroves in Sundarbans to the heritage sites in Gour Banga, come and make memories of a lifetime in Bangla.”
