Darjeeling, Dooars tourist-ready this festive season
The Tourism Department is all set to ensure a pleasant experience for the tourists visiting the Hills and the Dooars during the forthcoming festive season.
The State Tourism Minister recently held a meeting with the district administration in Siliguri to take stock with the situation. Another meeting with the district administration will take place in Jalpaiguri. He will also be holding talks with the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) in Darjeeling and with tour operators, hoteliers and transporters.
Following the meeting in Siliguri, the minister said that there will be a police control room monitoring the Hills and the Dooars regions round the clock. Help desks will be set up at major transit points – New Jalpaiguri Railway Station, Bagdogra Airport, Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus in Siliguri, Darjeeling, Kalimpong and at Malbazar in the Dooars.
The minister further said that the municipal corporation will ensure a clean and green Siliguri, for which a special drive will be undertaken. Toilets would be constructed, among other facilities, and illegal hoardings would be removed.
