State Cabinet okays 10 MW solar power plant in Salboni

The State Cabinet on November 5 gave the go-ahead for a solar power plant in Salboni in Paschim Medinipur, for which the government will be giving a vested land of 41.11 acres of to West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company.
This 10 MW plant is the latest venture by the State Power department to ensure sufficient supply of non-conventional form of energy.
This comes at a time when the Bangla Government has set a target of developing infrastructure for generating 300 MW solar power by the end of 2019.
It may be mentioned that the State Government has taken several steps to promote the use of solar power in the past seven years.
The Power Department is creating infrastructure for floating solar power projects at various power plants, in the water reservoirs which are there in most of them. Solar power-generating panels have been installed on the terraces of several government and school buildings across the State
Solar trees have also been installed to ensure power generation by creating infrastructure even in a small area, a project named Sourashree by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
