Saugata Roy speaks on the issue of job losses due to merger of banks

Sir,the bank employees all over the country led by United Forum of Bank Unions are conducting a dharna at Jantar Mantar today. This dharna is against the consolidation of banks where the total number of banks is sought to be reduced.
All unions of employees and officers are participating in the dharna. I went there myself. They are saying that with the consolidation of banks, the number of branches will become less and people will lose jobs. ATMs will become less and people will lose jobs.
Our West Bengal Chief Minister has written to the Finance Minister asking them to stop this process of merging banks into one. I am demanding that anti-people , anti-grahak conspiracy of the government to reduce the number of banks and to shift the headquarters of the United Bank and Allahabad Bank
