Saugata Roy speaks about pending funds from Centre for damages caused by Cyclone Bulbul in Bengal

FULL TRANSCRIPT
Sir, recently one cyclone called Bulbul hit West Bengal, mainly the southern part of the State, it touched Orissa also. The southern part of the State was affected, including the Sagar Island, Mousuni Island and other islands in south Bengal.
Sir, the State Government took urgent steps, which is why loss of life was very little. But you will be surprised to know that crops over a large area have been destroyed. The Chief Minister made a statement yesterday in West Bengal Assembly that total crop damage was to the extent of Rs 23,000 crore.
The Chief Minister had spoken to the Prime Minister after Bulbul and also the Home Minister rang her up and spoke to her. They promised all sorts of assistance to the State. But till date, its a month after Bulbul, the Central Government has not released a single rupee towards meeting the crop damage and other damages.
I urge in this House for the central government to release funds for rehabilitation and revival of the areas affected by Cyclone Bulbul.
