‘Saras Mela’ by self-help groups begins today
State Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Subrata Mukherjee will today inaugurate ‘Saras Mela’ 2015-16 at Central Park in Salt Lake.
The fair, which will be inaugurated today and continue till 27 December, 2015, will be open for public daily from 12 noon till 9 PM.
The rural handicrafts fair, organised by the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, has been showcasing handicraft products from not only West Bengal but also from other States of India.
The ‘Saras Mela’ is one big fair that lays stress on showcasing products made by the self-help groups across Bengal.
Recently West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present at ‘Anandadhara Sammelan’ of self-help groups at Netaji Indoor Stadium. Thousands of women form self-help groups received financial help as well as administrative encouragement from the Chief Minister.
