High tide of development in Jhargram

Under the Trinamool Congress Government, the district of Jhargram has seen large-scale development in all sectors. The region of Jangalmahal has been opened up to various tourism opportunities, which have been a big boon to the people. Tribal people are naturally inclined to sports, and the State Government actively promotes it through the Jangalmahal Cup and other avenues.
Highlights of the developmental work:
Health: 3 multi-super speciality hospitals, 1 fair-price medicine shop, CT scan and dialysis services in PPP mode started at Jhargram Hospital, 8 SNSUs, 1 SNCU, 1 CCU, 1 HDU, 3 blood banks
School education: 2 model schools
Scholarships: In 7.5 years, more than 14,600 students under Kanyashree, more than 45,000 students under Sikshashree
Higher education: Jhargram University coming up; 8 government degree colleges, 3 ITIs (2 more coming up), 1 polytechnic college
Kisan Mandi: 4 Kisan Mandis set up
100 Days’ Work: More than 1.15 crore man-days created from FY 2013-14 to 2018-19
Housing: More than 49,500 people benefitted from housing schemes, including rural housing
Industry: 4 MSME clusters (3 MSME clusters, 1 khadi cluster)
Jangalmahal: More than 33,000 youths got jobs in the police through Employment Bank; under the Jangalmahal Action Plan (JAP) scheme, 1,219 developmental schemes like anganwadi centres, drinking water projects, irrigation projects, classrooms in schools, roads, community halls, markets, various livelihoods projects, etc. completed at an expenditure of Rs 98.52 crore
Roads & bridges: About 1,600km of roads built/repaired/widened, 2 bridges in FY 2018-19
Tourism: Renovation of Jhargram Rajbari and building tourist cottages inside the compound, Jhargram Tribal Interpretation Centre, Hatibari Eco-Tourism Centre, renovation (first phase) of Kanakdurga Temple in Chilkigarh and Rameshwar Temple in Gopiballavpur; tourist circuit combining the districts of Jhargram, Bankura and Paschim Medinipur coming up
Culture: Santhali Academy, Kuruk Development Board, making Kuruk and Kurmi official languages
Samajik Suraksha Yojana: More than 65,000 unorganised labourers enlisted
Karmatirtha: 8 Karmatirthas
Sports: 37 multi-gyms, 5 mini indoor stadiums, Jhargram Sports Academy; renovation of Jhargram Stadium, Sundarban Cup being organised
