Sudip Bandyopadhyay speaks about remarks on Gandhiji by another MP

Sir, today at ten o’clock in the Business Advisory Committee Meeting, this issue was raised by Adhir. At that time I got the impression that we all will mobilise to the office regarding the concerned member who made disparaging remarks about the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi Ji, it will be sorted out.

My only request is that this is unnecessarily going to such a height. The discussion is taking place in such a manner as if we are all getting involved in a particular issue, which should not have been.

When a party itself has taken a decision against a person by withdrawing her from the Defence Committee, not allowing her to attend their Parliamentary Committee meetings, it is enough of an indication that the party is not happy with this opinion.

Finally, if the member herself apologises unconditionally, by making a simple comment about the incident which has happened, knowingly or unknowingly, I think one line can sort out the whole problem.

My submission would be to you, and to the other members, by not raising any other issue if it can be concentrated to this part only, I think the opposition will have nothing to say, including I hope the ruling party also.

Thank you, Sir.
