Saugata Roy speaks on looking into the grievances of doctors

Sir, this House has passed the National Medical Commission Bill. Even during the debate on the Bill in this House, the Members had protested against the Centre’s interfering in the States’ realm in the matter of Health and also the very undemocratic constitution of the National Medical Commission. Today, doctors all over the country have gone on strike to protest against the National Medical Commission Bill. The Bill has been passed here but has not been passed in the Rajya Sabha yet. I would appeal to the Government to look into the grievance of the doctors who after all are saviors of our lives and find out why they have gone on strike. And desist from trying to pass the Bill in the Rajya Sabha. Rather the Government should order a fresh inquiry into why the doctors are on a warpath.
