Centre not cooperating in Deocha Pachami coal mine project
The Centre is refusing clearance for the massive Deocha-Pachami coal mines, the largest in the country. This is despite repeated pleas in the last four years, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said in the Assembly on Wednesday, July 3.
She said that the Bangla Government had formed a board to look after the issues related to Deocha-Pachami coal block. The board was supposed to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Centre, but the Centre has been deliberately denying the clearance.
The Chief Minister also told the Assembly that the Centre has reduced the amount of supply of coal as well.
