Kalyan Banerjee asks a Question on corporate social responsibility fund

FULL TRANSCRIPT
The CSRF (corporate social responsibility fund) is basically for the development of that area where the company or the related factories are situated. That is the basic concept of the corporate social responsibility – let us take a case of Eastern Coalfields Ltd – is for the development, road construction etc in and around the locality of where the mines are there. This is the basic intention of the corporate social responsibility.
We are seeing nowadays the company is in one State and the money which I am talking about – Central Government PSU’s – is going to different states. This case has happened in the 15th Lok Sabha; Durgapur Steel Authority is situated in Durgapur and the money is sent to Nagpur where nothing is there.
We are seeing now from the corporate social responsibility fund, I am talking about only the Central PSUs that the Central Public Undertaking fund money is going to the Prime Minister Relief Fund and other development fund. I don’t have a problem with that but I am saying why does it not even go to the Chief Minister fund or relief fund or why only the Prime Minister only should get it.
