Purba Medinipur: Development of all sectors
Under the Trinamool Congress Government, the district of Purba Medinipur has seen large-scale development in all sectors.
Highlights of the developmental work:
Health: 3 multi-super speciality hospitals, 5 fair-price medicine shops, 2 fair-price diagnostic centres, 20 SNSUs, 2 SNCUs, 6 CCUs, 6 HDUs, beds of Contai Sub-divisional Hospital from 200 to 300
School education: In 7.5 years, 359 schools set up, levels of 227 schools upgraded
Scholarships: In 7.5 years, more than 2.84 lakh students under Kanyashree, more than 1.4 lakh students under Sikshashree
Higher education: 3 government degree colleges, 3 ITIs, 1 polytechnic college; Mahatma Gandhi University coming up in Mahishadal
Kisan Mandi: 6 Kisan Mandis set up
100 Days’ Work: About 10.59 crore man-days created from FY 2013-14 to 2018-19
Housing: More than 1.92 lakh people benefitted from housing schemes, including rural housing
Mission Nirmal Bangla: Purba Medinipur declared Nirmal Zilla, being 100% ODF
Industry: Industrial Growth Centre in Haldia, IT hub and industrial estate in Haldia, 27 MSME clusters (including 1 cashew nut cluster, 8 steel utensils clusters, 1 readymade garments cluster), convention centre in Digha; deep sea port coming up in Tajpur; bank loans worth more than Rs 6,975 crore given to MSMEs
Roads & bridges: More than 1,700 km of roads built/repaired/widened, 3 bridges and 2 jetties in FY 2018-19
Tourism: Seaside towns of Digha, Shankarpur, Tajpur, Udaipur and Mandarmani being built up in a major way, Digha Gate, watchtowers for tourists in Digha, Shankarpur, Tajpur, Udaipur and Mandarmani, Biswa Bangla Udyan in Digha, renovation of Nabageetika tourist cottage in New Digha, Digha Beach Festival, Digha-Kolkata helicopter service for tourists, lighting of Tajpur beach; 3 bridges being built in Nayakhali, Jalda and Sauli (on Saikat Sarani causeway), that will complete the Marine Drive from Contai to Digha
Samajik Suraksha Yojana: About 9.86 lakh unorganised labourers enlisted
Karmatirtha: 14 Karmatirthas
Sports: 300 multi-gyms, 60 mini indoor stadiums, youth hostel in Nandakumar
Law and order: 3 coastal police stations (Mandarmani, Junput, Nayachar)
