INTTUC stages protest over disinvestment of 42 state-owned companies by the Centre
The Indian National Trinamool Trade Union Congress has taken up the issue of disinvestment of 42 state-owned companies by the Centre, including Bengal’s Alloy Steel Plant in Durgapur and Chittaranjan Locomotives. A protest march was organised on Sunday in Durgapur led by INTTUC leader and RS MP Dola Sen and Bardhaman Paschim Trinamool district president and Asansol Mayor Jitendra Tewari, along with other leaders.
The Centre has decided to disinvest 42 state-owned companies including the BSNL, five airports, Alloy Steel Plant in Durgapur and Chittaranjan Locomotives.
INTTUC leader Dola Sen said that the party had staged a protest outside the Parliament against the Centre’s decision of disinvestment. Trinamool MPs have raised the issue in the Rajya Sabha, she pointed out. She said that the protest movement will reach a greater level in the coming days.
Protests are being staged at Alloy Steel Plant, Chittaranjan Locomotives and offices of the Kolkata Port Trust in Kolkata and Haldia.
Sen said that the Modi Government was hand in gloves with the capitalists and was conspiring to sell off the country. She said that the Modi Govt has come to power by making false promises to the people on issues like bringing back black money, providing employment and others. On the other hand, it had made possible the escape of bankers and businessmen who had cheated the country and its people.
