Mamata Banerjee attends Rath Yatra festivals at Kolkata and Mahesh

Like every year, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attended the flagging-off ceremony of the Rath Yatra organised by ISKCON in Kolkata today. Later, she attended the Rath Yatra festival at Mahesh in Hooghly district.
It may be mentioned that the State Government has granted 700 acres in Mayapur to ISKCON to set up a township for devotees with all modern facilities. She also said that Nabadwip and Mayapur are being developed to accommodate more tourists.
At Mahesh, she announced that the government would grant Rs 10 crore for developing the Jagannath Temple and related places to make Mahesh a major tourist spot. The bank of the Hooghly there would also be beautified.
At both the places, she reiterated the fact that religion is personal but festivals are universal. She wished for the victory of humanism and communal harmony over divisive forces.
