We will make Purulia a tourist haven, BJP will never do it : Mamata Banerjee at Kotshila
Trinamool Chairperson Mamata Banerjee today addressed a public meeting at Kotshila, located near the Ayodhya Hills in Purulia district, in support of party candidate Dr Mringanka Mahato.
She said the Jangalmahal had developed in the last seven and a half years and now had the potential to become a tourist haven. But the BJP would not do it. They had different and harmful designs.
Highlights of her speech:
A lot of work has been done in Jangalmahal. Earlier, there used to be an atmosphere of fear here. The roads used to wear a deserted look after dark, Maoists on one side and CPI(M) attacks on the other. But now situation has changed. Peace reigns here.
From Jhargram to Ayodhya Hills – Jangalmahal has a lot of potential for tourism. There are many projects coming up – from home stays to resorts. These projects will be taken up in full force very soon.
The BJP will not allow all this to happen. Their leaders come here just to mislead the people with their tall talk which is full of falsehoods.
How many times has Modi come here to find out how you were and what your progress was?
In other states like Jharkhand, the govt is taking over land that belongs to the tribals. But we are not doing that. We are giving Adivasis land pattas that rightfully belong to them.
The BJP is dividing people – one group against the other, and creating hatred. They are creating misery for the people.
All festivals and all religions are equally encouraged. But we do not force anyone to follow a particular religion. We love everyone and we celebrate all festivals. But the BJP is using force and coercion. They are forcing everyone especially during election to take Ram’s name.
Earlier he was a chaiwala, he had a wife. But while filing nomination, in the affidavit he did not know whether he had a wife. Now he calls himself a chowkidar. But we all know what sort of chowkidar he is. Country does not need a chowkidar like him.
