Harmads have changed the colour of jerseys from red to saffron: Abhishek Banerjee

National President of All India Trinamool Youth Congress, Abhishek Banerjee took a dig at BJP on Saturday and called it a party of ‘bhagar’ (garbage dump). He was addressing a campaign rally at Basirhat. Abhishek said BJP has gladly accepted leaders who have been dumped by the Trinamool.

He also said that those people who were harmads during CPI(M) reign are now chanting ‘Jai Shree Ram’ and have joined the BJP. Red t-shirts have become saffron, he said. Abhishek commented that these people are with BJP during the day and CPI(M) supporters at night. Old wine is being served in a new bottle, he added.

He also took a dig at the Opposition for the court cases regarding Panchayat polls. He said these parties trust court more than vote as they have lost the support of the people. He alleged that they want to disrupt the polling process. Abhishek said it is not Trinamool’s fault if the Opposition cannot find candidates for filing nominations. He reiterated that Trinamool will register a massive victory in all three tiers of Panchayat polls.

He also appealed to the party workers to campaign for the party symbol irrespective of who the candidate is. He said Mamata Banerjee is the candidate in all seats. He reminded the workers of Mamata Banerjee’s slogan of ‘Bodla noy bodol chai’ (change, not revenge). He concluded by saying Trinamool will reply to Opposition’s slander with ballots not bullets.
