The talent of Bangla is famous all over the world: Mamata Banerjee

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present in the centenary celebration of Beltala Girl’s High School at Nazrul Mancha today. Speaking on the occasion, she said that Bangla’s talent is universal and eternal.

Highlights of her speech:

Like our parents, our teachers also play an important role in our formative years. They lay the foundation of our education

The teachers are like our extended family, helping us to grow in life.

Today’s students are our future, they will shape the society in the days to come.

Bangla’s talent is universal and eternal. One will find talented people from Bangla all over the world.

From the time of independence till we came into power there were only 12 universities in Bangla. We have set up 28 new universities. 10 more are on the anvil. 50 new colleges have been set up in the last eight years.

20 new medical colleges, Hindi-medium colleges, private colleges, private universities have been established. There are many new opportunities in Bangla.

Apart from the regular subjects, I think there needs to be classes on values, humanity, honesty and transparency. Instead of violent and negativity, positive thinking should be encouraged.

Beltala Girls’ High School stands tall, with head held high, as a Bangla medium school. These days, most people opt for English medium education. The more we learn, the better we become in life. Since Bangla is our mother tongue, we must definitely learn Bangla. But, for higher studies we might have to learn English, Hindi and other languages. The more one learns, it is better. But we shouldn’t forget Bangla.
