Nadia is a model district for India: WB CM at Nabadwip

West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee today addressed a public meeting at Nabadwip Chatir Math in Nadia district where she inaugurated numerous developmental projects for the district.
WB CM hailed the district administration for successfully making Nadia the No. 1 district in Nirmal Bharat Mission. She said Nadia could become a national model. “My compliments and best wishes to Nadia district administration for being No. 1 in India. Keep up the good work,” CM said.
Tomorrow, the State Government will celebrate Nirmal Bangla Divas; Nadia has emerged as the first district in India to be declared open-defecation free.
She also declared Nabadwip as a Heritage Town. “I have come here to Nabadwip with the message of peace. We have spread Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s message to the world,” she said.
The Chief Minister announced that her government had increased the grant under Kanyashree scheme and will provide skill training to 10 lakh students in the next two years.
“We have made provisions for 40 lakh cycles to be distributed to poor students of all castes, creed, religion and communities,” WB CM announced. A Sanskrit College named after Chaitanya Mahaprabhu will come up in Nabadwip, she said while announcing 8 new medical colleges for the State.
The Chief Minister earlier held a meeting with the administrative officials of the district to take stock of the progress of various developmental works.
