Sougata Ray’s Zero Hour mention on the Union government’s deprivation of Bengal through not giving the funds rightfully due to it

Sir, I rise to speak during the ‘Zero Hour’on the deprivation enforced by the Central Government on West Bengal.
The total due on 100-days work is Rs. 52,000 crore. The total dues to West Bengal is Rs. 2 lakh crore; 59 lakh workers are involved; Disaster Relief Fund due is Rs. 43,000 crore; Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana due is Rs. 60,100
crore; Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan due is Rs. 19,000 crore; and Jal Jeevan Mission due is Rs. 2,500 crore. These are examples of how the Centre is using dues to the State as a weapon to beat the State Government which is opposed to it. The Calcutta High Court, in a judgment, said that all these dues, especially in MGNREGA should be paid by 1st August, 2025. The Union Government has not kept the promise. It is delaying it, and the Finance Minister is making wrong statements in the Parliament in the matter. The appeal of the Centre went to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has rejected the Union Government’s appeal. We immediately demand that the MGNREGA, which is stopped from 2022, be restored and the funds given. I strongly protest against the discriminatory attitude of the Central Government towards West Bengal, which is being protested by 59 lakh workers all together in the State.
Thank you
