Sir, under Rule 72(1), I oppose the introduction of the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin): VB – G RAM G Bill. Sir, I oppose the idea of replacing the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi’s name with G RAM G. Ram ji is respected by people in the country but to me, Mahatma Gandhi is much more relevant. This distortion of the name of MGNREGA is something we object to. We have other points of objections like, instead of being a demanddriven scheme, it has become a supply-driven scheme and the States are having to cough up 40 per cent of the total allotment, which will pose a great pressure on the States’ finances. That is why, I think, instead of discussing it here, we should refer it to a Select Committee, which can go into the merits of the Bill. That is why, I, again, strongly oppose it. This is the first Bill of Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan. … I think he should go back and send
the Bill to a Select Committee. I oppose the introduction of the Bill.
