Lok Sabha MP Mitali Bag’s Supplementary Question on the highly inadequate amounts allocated per child and per mother for food

Lok Sabha MP Mitali Bag’s Supplementary Question on the highly inadequate amounts allocated per child and per mother for food

Hon. Speaker Sir, thank you for allowing me to raise a supplementary question. The House is discussing the issues of malnutrition and stunting. I would like to ask the hon. Minister whether he is aware that, as per the current allocations, only Rs.1.09 is provided for every newborn child, and merely Rs.1.63 is allocated for every pregnant woman. With such minimal financial provision, how does the Government expect to effectively address malnutrition and improve child growth outcomes, including height? Hon. Speaker Sir, I am grateful for permitting me to raise a supplementary question. While we are discussing the grave issue of malnutrition and stunting among children, I wish to ask the hon. Minister whether he is aware that the current allocation amounts to merely one
rupee and nine paise per newborn child, and only one rupee and sixty-three paise per pregnant woman. With such meagre allocations, how does the Government propose to effectively address malnutrition and ensure healthy growth outcomes, including adequate height, for our children?
