New Town, the satellite township adjacent to Kolkata, is all set to get app-enabled bike taxis. Like app-enabled taxis, which are very popular, these bike taxis are also expected to become popular.

The State Traffic Department has brought out a notification regarding the introduction of these vehicles. Licenses would be issued by the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) of North 24 Parganas district.

The bike taxis would be GPS-enabled in order to communicate with the app. They would be white in colour, while the words ‘Bike Taxi’ would be written in blue. More than one pillion rider will not be allowed on the vehicles, and no minors too.

Also, in the light of the recent crackdown on helmet-less rides by the State Government, for the sake of security, the driver will have to provide helmet to the pillion rider before starting the vehicle. Pillion riders will not be allowed to carry any luggage on the bike taxis, except for minimal baggage or a briefcase.

Though they would cover the whole of New Town, these bikes would not be allowed to ply on Major Arterial Road, except the crossing. They would be most useful to access the service roads and interiors to assist the bystanders.

To get the project running, West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBHIDCO) has contacted cab aggregator company Ola and another firm in the same domain, which are currently operating bike taxis in Gurgaon.

 

নিউ টাউনে চালু হচ্ছে বাইক ট্যাক্সি

রাজ্য সরকারের উদ্যোগে পশ্চিমবঙ্গে প্রথম চালু হতে চলেছে বাইক ট্যাক্সি। নিউ টাউনে চালু হতে চলেছে বাইক ট্যাক্সি। এ রাজ্যে  পাইলট প্রজেক্ট হিসেবে নিউ টাউনে চালানো হবে এই বাইক ট্যাক্সি।

নিউ টাউন কলকাতা উন্নয়ন পর্ষদ সূত্রে জানা গেছে, বাইক ট্যাক্সিতে ভাড়ায় চড়া যাবে। পরিবহণ দপ্তরের নির্দেশিকা মেনে এগুলির রঙ রাখা হবে সাদা। যার গায়ে নীল রঙ দিয়ে লেখা থাকবে বাইক ট্যাক্সি।

মোটর ভেহিকেল্‌স আইনের ২(‌৭)‌ধারা অনুযায়ী কনট্রাক্ট ক্যারেজ হিসেবে এগুলিকে ব্যবহারের অনুমতি দেওয়া হবে। যে সব সংস্থা এই পরিষেবা দিতে আগ্রহী হবে, তাদের কমপক্ষে ১৫টি বাইক থাকতে হবে এবং স্থানীয় আর টি এ অনুমোদন নিতে হবে।

নিউ টাউন এলাকা ঘুরে দেখার জন্য মোটরবাইক বা সাইকেল যথার্থ। তাই নিউ টাউন কলকাতা উন্নয়ন পর্ষদের এই উদ্যোগ। এর জন্য একটি অ্যাপও তৈরি করা হবে। যার মাধ্যমে বুকিং করা যাবে।‌

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has chalked out elaborate measures to stop the outbreak of dengue in the city on the onset of monsoon.

The Union Health Ministry had lauded the KMC for taking measures to combat spread of the disease last year.

The KMC will conduct intense campaigns in the city when hoardings will be put up at important road intersections, leaflets will be distributed and health department workers will inform the people about the dos and don’ts to prevent the disease through public address system in every ward.

The surveillance has been intensified and people have been requested to clean the containers where water is stored at least once a week.

The overhead tanks and underground reservoirs should be covered and flower pots should be cleaned at least once a week.

The KMC teams visits the houses and request the owners of residential buildings and secretary of the cooperatives in case of apartment blocks to replace the covers of overhead tanks and underground reservoirs if they are found to be missing.

There are five dengue detection centres in the city where blood samples collected by the health department workers are tested.

Jubilation erupted among the Kami, Damai and Sarki communities when Chief Minister today announced their respective development boards at Chowrasta in Darjeeling. She made this announcement at a programme organised to celebrate the 202nd birth anniversary of poet, Bhanubhakta Acharya.

Attending the 202nd birth anniversary of poet at Chowrasta in Darjeeling, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that Government will hold a cabinet meeting in Darjeeling.

In keeping with the occasion, school children presented a Saraswati Bandana and read the Ramayana paath.

During the occasion, four Sahitya Academy recipients were felicitated by the state government. They included Gupta Pradhan from Darjeeling, Shankhar Pradhan from Bagrakote, Sanjeev Chettri from Kurseong and Shankhar Deo Dhakal from Gangtok.

দার্জিলিঙের চৌরাস্তায় এদিন আরও তিনটি উন্নয়ন পর্ষদ বোর্ড গঠনের কথা ঘোষণা করেন মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। কামি, দমই এবং সরকি উপজাতিদের জন্য তিনটি উন্নয়ন পর্ষদ বোর্ড গঠনের কথা ঘোষণা করার সঙ্গেই সঙ্গেই জয়ধ্বনি পরে যায়। গতকাল কবি ভানু ভক্তের ২০২ তম জন্মবার্ষিকী অনুষ্ঠানে একথা ঘোষণা করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

এদিন এই অনুষ্ঠান মঞ্চ থেকেই তিনি ঘোষণা করেন যে দার্জিলিংয়ে একটি মন্ত্রিসভার বৈঠক করবেন তিনি।

অনুষ্ঠানে সঙ্গে তাল মিলিয়ে, স্কুলের বাচ্চারা একটি সরস্বতী বন্দনা উপস্থাপন করে।

অনুষ্ঠানে সময় চার সাহিত্য একাডেমী প্রাপকদের রাজ্য সরকার সংবর্ধিত করে। এরা হলেন দার্জিলিঙের গুপ্ত প্রধান, বাগরাকোটের শঙ্কর প্রধান, কার্শিয়াঙের সঞ্জীব ছেত্রী এবং গ্যাংটক থেকে শঙ্কর দেও ছেত্রি।

People travelling to north Bengal from the city along the NH-34 will now have the option to stop over and take rest at government motels. The public works department (PWD) has developed four highway motels along NH-34 under the ‘Pather Sathi’ project.

These motels will provide food, internet facilities and clean toilet to travellers. The motels have been set up at Krishnagar, Shantipur, Ghatigachha in Ranaghat and De bagram in Kaliganj .

The motels will have stalls that will showcase Nadia handicrafts like idols of Ghurni, ‘tant’ saree of Fulia and sweets of Krishnagar.

The PWD authorities will hand over the motels to Nadia administration soon.

 

যাত্রী সুবিধার্থে তৈরি হল নতুন মোটেল

এখন ৩৪ নম্বর জাতীয় সড়ক দিয়ে শহর থেকে উত্তরবঙ্গ যাওয়ার পথে যাত্রীরা এখন বিশ্রাম নিতে পারবেন সরকারী মোটেলে। ‘পথের সাথী’ প্রকল্পের আওতায় ৩৪ নম্বর জাতীয় সড়কে ৪টি হাইওয়ে মোটেল তৈরি করা হয়েছে।

এই মোটেল গুলির মাধ্যমে খাবার, ইন্টারনেট পরিষেবা, পরিষ্কার-পরিচ্ছন্ন টয়লেট ইত্যাদি পরিষেবা দেওয়া হবে। কৃষ্ণনগর, শান্তিপুর, ঘাটিগাছা, রানাঘাট,দেবগ্রাম ও কালীগঞ্জে মোটেল স্থাপন করা হয়েছে।

মোটেলে কতগুলিতে জেলার বিভিন্ন হস্তশিল্প যেমন ঘূর্ণি, ফুলিয়ার তাঁতের শাড়ি, কৃষ্ণনগরের মিষ্টি ইত্যাদির স্টল থাকবে।

পূর্ত বিভাগের কর্তৃপক্ষ খুব শীঘ্রই নদীয়া প্রশাসনের হাতে মোটেল হস্তান্তর করবে।

She said: “I wish a happy and prosperous Eid to all peace loving people. The morning of Eid brings the day of happiness for all. I would like to wish happy Eid to the people all across the world.”

She maintained: “Bengal will show the way to peace. I pray for good health and prosperity of everyone.”Giving the message of brotherhood and unity, Banerjee said: “We all will stay together and spread the message of peace.”

তিনি আরও বলেন “আগামী দিনে বাংলাই বিশ্বকে শান্তির পথ দেখাবে। সবাই খুব ভালো থাকুন, সুন্দর থাকুন, সুস্থ থাকুন”। ঐক্য ও শান্তির বার্তা দিতে গিয়ে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, “আমরা সকলে একসঙ্গে থাকব এবং শান্তির বার্তা ছড়িয়ে দেব”।

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today launched a State-wide drive, ‘Safe Drive, Save Life,’ to bring down road accidents and bring in better traffic measures, at Nazrul Manch.

The Transport Department, along with the police, with the help of other departments of the State Government and agencies, will undertake the drive. The main idea behind taking up such a drive is to bring down the number of accidents that take place almost every day due to reckless driving.

The drive will make people aware about road safety measures. Both pedestrians and drivers need to be aware about certain facts to avoid road accidents.

Both in the city and in the districts, the police will be playing an important role along with the Transport Department in bringing down the rate of accidents through the carrying out of the drive.

Already banners and posters carrying the message ‘Safe Drive, Save Life’ have come up in various parts of Kolkata.

 

Highlights of the Chief Minister’s speech:

  • People often ignore safety regulations, thus causing road accidents.
  • Life is precious. Every life lost is sad and tragic.
  • Not everyone violates discipline, but the price of one’s wrong actions is often paid by many of the uninvolved.
  • If Bengal can become a model for Sabuj Sathi and Kanyashree, why not for ‘Safe Drive Save Life’?
  • These days, there are many incidents of riding bikes without helmets; some young people race with bikes on flyovers at night.
  • Lawlessness cannot be tolerated; we cannot allow it.
  • Motor vehicle laws are framed by the Centre; States must also have the power to make such laws.
  • We will raise the issue of road safety in Parliament; we will not allow interference in the federal structure.
  • These days, the Centre is taking away all our money in the name of imposing some cess or the other.
  • Like in Kolkata, we have to ensure road safety in the districts and on national highways too.
  • Overloading and rough driving will not be allowed; riding without helmets must be discouraged.
  • We must sensitise people regarding road safety and our ‘Safe Drive Save Life’ initiative.
  • Local clubs, folk artistes and young people must spread the message of the ‘Safe Drive Save Life’ initiative.
  • We must popularise the ‘Safe Drive Save Life’ initiative on Twitter, Facebook and other social media.
  • We will request Durga Puja committees to promote the ‘Safe Drive Save Life’ initiative.
  • We will install more CCTVs to monitor road safety.
  • ‘Safe Drive Save Life’ is a movement and the Government will do everything possible to make roads safer.
  • After one year, we will reward the blocks with the least number of accidents and penalise those with the most accidents.
  • Stay healthy, stay safe

 

সড়ক নিরাপত্তা নিয়ে নতুন উদ্যোগ পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের

রাজ্যে দুর্ঘটনা ক্রমবর্ধমান হওয়ায় উদ্বিগ্ন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়৷ দুর্ঘটনা নিয়ে রাজ্যের মানুষকে সচেতন করতে এবার নিজেই সচেতনতার স্লোগান ‌বেঁধে দিলেন তিনি৷ স্লোগানটি হলঃ ‘সেফ ড্রাইভ, সেভ লাইফ’ (SAFE DRIVE, SAVE LIFE)৷ অর্থাৎ নিরাপদে গাড়ি চালিয়ে গেলে চালক এবং পথচারী উভয়েরই অকালে প্রাণ যাবে না৷ আজ থেকে চালু হল এই অভিযান।

কলকাতা ও রাজ্য পুলিশের শীর্ষব্যক্তিত্বদের নিয়ে পরিবহণ দফতর মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর দেওয়া স্লোগান সামনে রেখে প্রচার অভিযান শুরু করছে। এই প্রকল্পের একটি ‘রোডম্যাপ’ তৈরি করা হবে বলে পরিবহণ দফতর সূত্রে খবর।

কলকাতা সহ অন্যান্য সব জেলায় রাজ্য পরিবহন দফতর ও পুলিশ মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর দেওয়া এই স্লোগান সামনে রেখে বিশেষ অভিযানে নামছে৷ উল্লেখ্য, এর আগে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর নিজের হাতে আঁকা প্রতীক দিয়ে কন্যাশ্রী প্রকল্প চালু হয়েছিল৷ এবং সেই প্রকল্প ইউনিসেফ-সহ গোটা বিশ্বে আজ সমাদৃত৷

বস্তুত, দুর্ঘটনা রুখতে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর দেওয়া এই স্লোগানও যে আগামীদিনে গোটা দেশেই সমাদৃত হবে তা মেনে নিয়েছেন রাজ্যের একাধিক পরিবহন সংস্থার শীর্ষব্যক্তিত্বরা৷

কলকাতার পাশাপাশি সমস্ত ন্যাশনাল ও স্টেট হাইওয়ের দু’পাশ জুড়ে এবং কলকাতার সমস্ত রাস্তায় ইতিমধ্যেই এই স্লোগানের হোর্ডিং দেওয়া হয়েছে৷ একইসঙ্গে স্কুল-কলেজ, এবং সরকারি ও বেসরকারি প্রতিষ্ঠানেও ‘SAFE DRIVE, SAVE LIFE’ স্লোগান নিয়ে মানুষকে সচেতনত করার কর্মসূচি নেওয়া হবে৷

মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর বক্তব্যের কিছু অংশ:

  • অনেক সময় আমাদের অসচেতোনতার জন্য দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে
  • প্রতিটি জীবন মূল্যবান। প্রত্যেকটি মৃত্যু দুঃখজনক
  • সবাই শৃঙ্খলা লঙ্ঘন করে না, কিন্তু কারো কারো ভুলের মাশুল দিতে হয় সকলকে
  • সবুজসাথী, কন্যাশ্রীতে যদি বাংলা মডেল হতে পারে তাহলে সেফ ড্রাইভ সেভ লাইফ কর্মসূচীতে নয় কেন?
  • হেলমেট না পরে বাইক চালানোর কারণে দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে। আজকাল রাতে ফ্লাইওভার গুলোতে অনেকে বাইক রেস করছে
  • অরাজকতা সহ্য করা যাবে না. আমরা এসব বরদাস্ত করব না
  • আমাদের ট্রাফিক আইন পরিবর্তন করতে হবে
  • মোটর ভেহিকেল আইন কেন্দ্র তৈরি করে। রাজ্যগুলিরও এই ক্ষমতা থাকা উচিত
  • সড়ক নিরাপত্তার বিষয়টা তৃণমূল পার্লামেন্টে তুলবে। আমরা যুক্তরাষ্ট্রীয় কাঠামোতে হস্তক্ষেপ বরদাস্ত করব না
  • এখন কেন্দ্র নতুন কিছু সেস চালু করছে আর আমাদের থেকে সব টাকা কেটে নিয়ে চলে যাচ্ছে
  •  এখন কলকাতার সিগ্ন্যাল সিস্টেম অনেক উন্নত হয়েছে
  • কলকাতার মত সব জেলা এবং জাতীয় সড়কগুলিতেও নিরাপত্তা ব্যবস্থা নিশ্চিত করতে হবে
  • ওভারলোডিং এবং রাফ ড্রাইভিং আমরা বরদাস্ত করব না
  • সেফ ড্রাইভ সেভ লাইফ কর্মসূচীর মাধ্যমে আমরা জনগণকে সংবেদনশীল করব
  • লোকাল ক্লাব, লোক শিল্পীরা এবং তরুণ প্রজন্ম সেফ ড্রাইভ সেভ লাইফ কর্মসূচীর বার্তা পৌঁছে দেবে
  • ফেসবুক, টুইটার এবং সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ার মাধ্যমে ‘সেফ ড্রাইভ সেভ লাইফ’ কর্মসূচীকে জনপ্রিয় করতে হবে
  • ‘সেফ ড্রাইভ সেভ লাইফ’ কর্মসূচীকে দুর্গা পুজোর থিম করার জন্য পুজা কমিটিগুলিকে অনুরোধ করব
  • সড়ক নিরাপত্তা মনিটর করতে আমাদের আরও সিসিটিভি বসাতে হবে
  • ‘সেফ ড্রাইভ সেভ লাইফ’ একটি আন্দোলন এবং সরকার সড়ক নিরাপত্তার জন্য সবরকম ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করবে
  • যে ব্লকে কম দুর্ঘটনা ঘটবে তাকে এক বছর পর পুরস্কৃত করবে সরকার
  • সুস্থ থাকুন, নিরাপদ থাকুন

The state Public Health Engineering department has decided to install 40 units of water ATMs in different parts of Kolkata. One has already been installed near Ekdalia in South Kolkata.

With an endeavor to provide safe drinking water to all at a bare minimum price, it has been decided to install the same at different parts of the state. But as pilot project it will be first set up in Kolkata and its adjoining areas.

Before, Puja it will come up in two places in Dum Dum, Victoria Memorial Hall, Indian Museum and near Nakhoda Masjid and 40 other places. The locations have been identified based on the footfall.

One just needs to put a Rs 2 coin into the machine and one will get a bottle containing 1 litre of cold safe drinking water. This is the first time when such an initiative has been taken by the state government.

The state PHE department has plans to install 200 such water ATMs across the state and steps to identify the location would take place after the success of the project in Kolkata and its surrounding areas.

For the first time, the state level Hool Utsav will be organised at Jhargram in West Midnapore, giving the people of Jangalmahal an opportunity to witness the programme on a large scale. Around 22 teams of different tribal art forms will be participating in the programme.

Hool Utsav is organised every year to commemorate the fight of the tribal people against the British Raj in 1885. The three-day-long Hool Utsav will begin on June 30 at the ground of Kumud Kumari Institution at Jhargram in West Midnapore.

There will be programmes in all districts, including Kolkata on the same day.

The programmes in the districts other than West Midnapore will last two day s. On the other hand, the state level programme at Jhargram will be three-days long.

Tribal dances, including Pata and Karam, will be performed in the Hul Utsav. Artists from four districts – Purulia, Burdwan, Murshidabad and Nadia – will be performing in the state level programme. The programme will be inaugurated at 4 pm on June 30. State tribal Development Minister James Kujur and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Churamoni Mahata will be present in the programme.

Besides cultural programmes, camps of different departments of the West Bengal government – including MSME, Panchayat and Rural Development, Agriculture Marketing and Fisheries – will be set up in the premises of Hul Utsav. Awareness will be spread among people about the different facilities and schemes taken up the departments for their benefits in the camps.

Women from different self help groups will also be participating in the programme. Goods and other products prepared by them will be exhibited and available for sale.

The State Government will also showcase its achievements in bringing an overall development of Jangalmahal in the past five years. In other districts, two-day long programmes will be held, in which folk and tribal artists will be performing to celebrate the occasion.

 

আজ ঝাড়গ্রামে শুরু হবে হুল দিবস অনুষ্ঠান   

এই প্রথমবার রাজ্যস্তরের হুল দিবসের অনুষ্ঠান হবে পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুরের ঝাড়গ্রামে। ১৮৮৫ সালে ব্রিটিশ রাজের বিরুদ্ধে উপজাতীয়দের যুদ্ধ স্মৃতিরক্ষার্থে প্রতি বছর হূল উৎসবের আয়োজন করা হয়। তিন দিনব্যাপী এই উৎসব হবে পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুরের ঝাড়গ্রাম এ কুমুদ কুমারীর ইনস্টিটিউশনের মাঠে।

কলকাতা সহ বিভিন্ন জেলায় ওই দিনেই এই উৎসব পালিত হবে।  পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুরসহ অন্যান্য জেলায় দু-দিন ধরে এই অনুষ্ঠান চলবে এবং ঝাড়গ্রামে তিন দিন ব্যাপী এই অনুষ্ঠান চলবে।

প্রতি বছরই রাজ্যস্তরের হুল উৎসব পালিত হয় কলকাতায়।  এ বার রাজ্যস্তরের হুল দিবসের অনুষ্ঠান হবে পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুরের ঝাড়গ্রামে। এর ফলে জঙ্গলমহলের মানুষজন এই উৎসবে অংশগ্রহণ করতে পারবেন। বিভিন্ন উপজাতী শিল্পীদের ২২ টি দল এই প্রোগ্রামে অংশগ্রহণ করবে।

পাতা, করম এইসব আদিবাসী নাচ হবে হুল উতসবে। রাজ্যস্তরের এই অনুষ্ঠানে পুরুলিয়া, বর্ধমান, মুর্শিদাবাদ এবং নদিয়ার শিল্পীরা এই অনুষ্ঠানে অংশগ্রহণ করবে।। ৩০ জুন বিকালে উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত থাকবেন আদিবাসী উন্নয়ন মন্ত্রী জেমস কুজুর, অনগ্রসর শ্রেণিকল্যাণ মন্ত্রী চূড়ামণি মাহাতো প্রমুখ।উৎসব চলবে ৩০ জুন-২ জুলাই পর্যন্ত।

বিভিন্ন স্ব-নির্ভর গোষ্ঠীর মহিলারাও অংশগ্রহণ করবে এই প্রোগ্রামে। স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠীর সদস্যাদের তৈরি হস্তশিল্পের প্রদর্শনী ও বিক্রয়-সহ অন্য অনুষ্ঠানেরও আয়োজন করা হয়েছে। গত পাঁচ বছরে জঙ্গলমহলের সামগ্রিক উন্নয়ন করেছে রাজ্য সরকার।

উল্লেখ্য, ক্ষমতায় আসার পর মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় একটি পৃথক আদিবাসী উন্নয়ন পর্ষদ গঠন করেছে। এই পর্ষদ গঠনের পর আদিবাসী বিভাগের অভূতপূর্ব উন্নয়ন হয়েছে, তাঁরা অনেক উপকৃত হয়েছেন। গত হূল উৎসবে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শিল্পীদের বাদ্যযন্ত্র বিতরণ করেছেন। রাজ্য সরকারের এই পদক্ষেপ এইসব শিল্পীদের উৎসাহ দিয়েছে।

রাজ্য সরকারের সহযোগিতায়, শিল্পী, খুব, এখন তাদের সেরা দিচ্ছেন উচ্চ মাত্রার শিল্প ফর্ম নিতে তাছাড়া, বর্তমান রাজ্য সরকারের উদ্যোগে হূল উৎসব  রাজ্য স্তরের একটি জনপ্রিয় অনুষ্ঠানে পরিণত হয়েছে।

The country’s first state government-owned stem cell preservation centre started its formal functioning at the School of Tropical Medicine in Kolkata from Friday.

The umbilical cord of newborns containing stem cells can be stored in the bank. The preserved stem cells can be used in the future for the treatment of an adult in case of congenital and genetic problems and will also help to check various complicated diseases which could not be cured by an ordinary treatment.

The cord blood bank functions as per the rules and guidelines of the Centre and the state government. With its addition to state’s health infrastructure, it will be beneficial for people and according to the doctors the umbilical cord is rich in life-saving and can only be collected during birth and can be preserved for a lifetime. These stem cells have the potential to treat over 80 medical conditions including blood disorders, immune diseases with research on going to bring about additional benefits of these cells.

It was the initiative of the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who wanted to transform School of Tropical of Medicine into a stem cell preservation system, opening a new avenue of health care system in the state.

Kolkata Municipal Corporation on Tuesday launched awareness campaigns to ensure food safety norms to be maintained by the street food vendors and at the posh eateries in the city.

Member Mayor-in-council, health (MMiC), Atin Ghosh visited several street food vendors situated at the Dacre’s Lane at Esplanade and also some of the posh eateries including the Lalit’s Great Eastern hotel situated at the central office district of the city.

“We are basically concerned that the eatery owners must ensure food safety norms.It is because of this reason that the civic health department will be distributing the booklet on food safety guideline,” Ghosh said.

During his visit on Tuesday, the MMiC said that an eatery was found using industrial ice, which is not approved to be used in food.

“Though we have not taken any action against the vendor, but we have destroyed the stock of ice. The civic health officer also explained the vendors regarding this usage and its side effects,” Ghosh explained.

He further said the civic health team also found usage of synthetic colour by an eater owner. “We also seized the colour. It must be noted that the colour has a certain permissible limited that could be applied only in making sweets but not in cooked food.”

The MMiC informed that the he will be making such visits at regular intervals to create awareness.

 

খাদ্য সচেতনতা বাড়াতে কলকাতা পুরসভার নয়া উদ্যোগ

খাবারে ভেজাল মেশানো রুখতে কলকাতা পুরসভার তরফ থেকেক বেশ কিছু গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পদক্ষেপ নেওয়া হয়েছে। কলকাতা পুরসভার মঙ্গলবার খাদ্য নিরাপত্তা  নিশ্চিত করতে রাস্তায় খাবারের দোকানগুলি এবং হোটেলগুলি পরিদর্শন করে।

মঙ্গলবার মেয়র পারিষদ (খাদ্য, স্বাস্থ্য) অতীন ঘোষ এদিন ধর্মতলার ডেকার্স লেনের খাবারের দোকানগুলিতে পরিদর্শনে যান।

মেয়র পারিষদ বলেন, “যে খাবারের দোকান মালিকরা খাদ্য প্রস্তুতিতে সঠিক নিয়ম-নিরাপত্তা মেনে চলেন কিনা আমরা মূলত সেই ব্যাপারে উদ্বিগ্ন। আগামী জুলাই মাসের মধ্যেই দি ফুড সেফটি অ্যান্ড স্ট্যান্ডার্ডস অ্যাক্টের গাইডলাইন মেনে প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়া হবে”।

তিনি আরও জানাণ, প্রশিক্ষণের পর তারা গাইডলাইন মেনে খাবার তৈরি করছে কিনা তা দেখে গ্রেডেশন দেওয়া হবে।

অতীন ঘোষ আরও জানান, রাস্তায় বিক্রি হওয়া এইসব খাবারে বেশ কিছু রাসায়নিক পাওয়া গেছে যা খাবারে মেশানোর অনুমোদন নেই এবং যা শরীরের জন্য ক্ষতিকারক। ৬০-৭০ টি দোকানের খাবারে পাওয়া গেছে সিনথেটিক রঙ, দোকানদারদের সতর্ক করা হয়েছে।

এছাড়া খাদ্য নিরাপত্তার স্বার্থে বিক্রেতাদের মাথার টুপি, হাতের গ্লাভস দেবে কলকাতা পুরসভা। পর্যাপ্ত পানীয় জলেরও ব্যবস্থা করবে। শহরের ছোটবড় সমস্ত হোটেল ও রেস্তোরাগুলিতে স্বাস্থ্যসম্মত খাবার তৈরি হচ্ছে কিনা তা দেখার জন্য প্রতি মাসে আচমকা পরিদর্শনে যাবেন আধিকারিকরা।
