Bengal Govt launches ‘Jaladhara’ scheme for mechanised boats
Bengal government has introduced the Jaladhara scheme to provide financial assistance to convert semi-mechanised boats to mechanised ones to avert accidents. At the same time, standard operational procedure (SOP) would be followed to improve the safety of jetties across the state.
Under the Jalodhara scheme, the state government will be providing a financial assistance of around 30 per cent of the total cost of bringing in the mechanised boats in place of semi-mechanised ones. The amount would be a maximum of Rs 1 lakh.
One could apply to directors of the Inland Waterways and a separate cell would be opened for the Jalodhara scheme in the transport Bhawan.
A technical committee has also been formed to assess both short and long-term measures needed to upgrade the jetties. At present, there are around 1,000 permanent approved jetties in the state. Steps have already been taken for the upgradation of 68 jetties. In addition, 131 major and 121 semi-major jetties will be revamped on an immediate and urgent basis on the SOP model.

ফেরি দুর্ঘটনা রুখতে জলধারা প্রকল্প চালু করলো রাজ্য সরকার
ফেরি দুর্ঘটনা রুখতে রাজ্য সরকার নিয়ে এল ‘জলধারা’ প্রকল্প। শুক্রবার মুখ্যসচিবের নেতৃত্বে এক বৈঠকে বিষয়টি নিয়ে দীর্ঘ আলোচনা করেন প্রশাসনের পদস্থ আমলারা।
প্রযুক্তিগত এবং নিরাপত্তার দিক থেকে বেআইনি ভুটভুটিগুলির মানোন্নয়ন করা হবে। একেকটি ভুটভুটির মানোন্নয়নে আনুমানিক পাঁচ লক্ষ টাকা খরচ হতে পারে। তাই সংশ্লিষ্ট প্রকল্পের অধীনে ভুটভুটি মালিকদের সর্বোচ্চ এক লক্ষ টাকা সহায়তা দেবে রাজ্য।
এছাড়াও, রাজ্য জুড়ে প্রধান জেটিগুলির মানোন্নয়ন করা হবে। গতবছর আদর্শ পরিচালন বিধি চালু করেছিল রাজ্য। তার অধীনে ৬৮টি জেটির মানোন্নয়নে প্রায় সাত কোটি টাকা বরাদ্দ হয়েছিল। এবার আরও অন্তত ২৫০টি জেটির মানোন্নয়নের কাজ চালু হবে। প্রাথমিক পর্যায়ে গুরুত্বের দিক থেকে ২৫০টি প্রধান এবং মাঝারি জেটির জন্য অর্থ বরাদ্দ করা হচ্ছে।
