Pratima Mondal’s supplementary questions on whether the government is considering bringing urea under the NbS framework and whether it has created any strategic reserve policy for it
Sir, the hon. Minister has spoken about correcting excessive urea consumption but the field reports indicate that the nutrient-based subsidy regime has not adequately encouraged balanced use of fertilizer. I would like to ask the hon. Minister whether the Government is considering bringing urea under the NBS framework of rationalising subsidy structure to ensure scientific and sustainable nutrient application. Sir, in view of the continued import dependence for fertilizer, raw materials and APIs, I would like to know whether the Government has conducted any comprehensive vulnerability assessment of supply chains, particularly in the context of ongoing global conflicts, and whether any strategic reserve policy is being considered to safeguard farmers and the pharmaceutical sector from sudden shortages.
