AITMC Chairperson Mamata Banerjee calls upon the students to save the country

AITMC Chairperson Mamata Banerjee calls upon the students to save the country
West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee addressed students on the occasion of the Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad`s foundation day on Tuesday at Mayo road.
“We need to change the education system. During the previous regime, our students were not allowed to learn English. I feel it is important to learn English as a language,“ Ms Banerjee said at the rally.
“Along with English, you should learn other languages whether Indian or foreign. There is no limit to learning. But you must utilise your knowledge for the welfare of the country,“ she told the students.
“Time has come to prevent the country from getting sold and only students and the younger generation can do that. I would urge all of you to use the internet and communicate to create a united voice of protest across the country. The country is passing through an economic disaster. The Centre is selling out the country. Prices of everything are rising. Prices of petrol and diesel are rising frequently. Let us build up a massive public opinion through social networking sites like Facebook and other mediums against the Centre`s selling out the country“ Ms Banerjee urged the young gathering.
“We had suspended the students` union elections because of the panchayat (rural) polls. But they will be resumed now. The rival unions would provoke you, they will attack you, but I would urge you not to fall prey to their provocation. Be cool and do not resort to violence,“ said Ms Banerjee.
“Where is the leader of the country to save the people from the economic onslaught? Those who are supposed to raise their voices of protest have wound up but we cannot accept the country being sold out this way.“ She added.
“As the CPI(M) was ousted from power in Bengal, similarly Bengal will show the way for change of power in Delhi. Always be positive, constructive, dedicated and disciplined. You will make it. Parbo, korbo, lorbo, gorbo, jeetbo. This should be your pledge.“ Ms Banerjee asserted.
