Three fact-finding teams on the killed and displaced party workers to start work from Saturday

Since the assembly election results were announced on May 4, many Trinamool workers and supporters have been driven out of their homes across the state. To stand by these affected people, the All India Trinamool Congress has now formed three fact-finding teams.

The composition of the teams was announced on Friday, May 16 by the party supremo Mamata Banerjee during a meeting held at her Kalighat residence with both the winning and defeated candidates.

The party stated that Saturday onward, these teams will visit the families of the workers who were killed or displaced by BJP miscreants.

As of now, three teams have been formed for the districts of South 24 Parganas, Purba Medinipur and Hooghly, comprising of MPs and experienced organisers.

Team for South 24 Parganas: Sushmita Dev (Rajya Sabha MP), Prasun Banerjee (Lok Sabha MP), Sajda Ahmed (Lok Sabha MP) and Tanmoy Ghosh (Sreerampur Assembly candidate).

Team for Purba Medinipur: Dola Sen (Rajya Sabha MP), Mohammad Nadimul Haque (Rajya Sabha MP), Dr Sharmila Sarkar (Lok Sabha MP) and Sushobhan Roy (former student leader of Jadavpur University).

Team for Hooghly: Pratima Mondal (Lok Sabha MP), Samirul Islam (Rajya Sabha MP), Birbaha Hansda (former Jhargram MLA and state cabinet minister, and prominent tribal leader), Shirshanya Bandyopadhyay (Uttarpara Assembly candidate and lawyer), Suman Bhattacharjee (Independent Pandabeswar Assembly candidate) and Syed Tanveer Nasrin (University of Burdwan professor).

Addressing the team members at the meeting, Mamata Banerjee said: “Hold small meetings and rallies at the block, town and regional levels. Submit the list of displaced people at Kalighat. Chandrima Bhattacharya will assist with legal aid work. She will handle the legal communication and consultation.”
