The Trinamool Congress Government of West Bengal has brought about a sea change in school education. From setting up thousands of schools to appointing teachers to giving bicycles under the Sabuj Sathi Scheme, Chief Mamata Banerjee’s administration has tried its best to ensure that everyone gets access to quality education. Innumerable schools have been upgraded to secondary and higher secondary levels.

Now, some more measures have been announced with regard to education. To enable everyone to come to school, black shoes have been started to be distributed for free to primary school students, that is, students from classes I to IV, of all government schools. More than 54 lakh students are going to get the shoes.

The government has started giving free test papers to students of class 10 to help them prepare better for Madhyamik examination. Also, some of the books of standards 10 and 12 would be made available for free. The subjects include English, Bengali, Hindi, Santhali, Nepali and Urdu. These new measures would reduce the burden to some extent on many parents.

 

 

ছাত্রছাত্রীদের শিক্ষার সুযোগ সুনিশ্চিত করার পরিকল্পনা রাজ্য সরকারের

তৃণমূল পরিচালিত পশ্চিমবঙ্গ রাজ্য সরকার শিক্ষা ক্ষেত্রে বিপুল অগ্রগতি এনেছে। সাইকেল, পাঠ্য বই ইত্যাদির মাধ্যমে যাতে সব ছাত্রছাত্রী শিক্ষার সুযোগ পায় তা নিশ্চিত করার জন্য যথাসাধ্য চেষ্টা করেছেন।

ইতিমধ্যেই দশম শ্রেণীর ছাত্রছাত্রীদের বিনামূল্যে টেস্ট পেপার দিচ্ছে রাজ্য সরকার।

একাদশ ও দ্বাদশ শ্রেণিতেও এবার বিনামূল্যে পাঠ্যপুস্তক দেবে রাজ্য সরকার৷ চলতি শিক্ষাবর্ষ থেকেই এই প্রকল্প কার্যকর হবে৷ যে বইগুলি বিনামূল্যে দেওয়া হবে সেগুলি হল- সাহিত্য চর্চা (বাংলা এ), ইংলিশ র‍্যাপিড রিডার (ইংলিশ বি), মাইন্ডস্কেপ (ইংলিশ বি), হিন্দি পাঠ সঞ্চয়ন, সাঁওতালি, নেপালি (এ), উর্দু (বি)৷ অতিরিক্ত বই হিসাবে দেওয়া হবে- বাংলার ভাষা ও সংস্কৃতি, সাহিত্যকথা৷ এছাড়াও আরও কয়েকটি বই পড়ুয়াদের বিনামূল্যে দেবে সরকার৷

শিক্ষামন্ত্রী পার্থ চট্টোপাধ্যায় জানিয়েছেন, ‘একাদশ ও দ্বাদশ শ্রেণির বেশ কয়েকটি বই ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের হাতে বিনামূল্যে তুলে দেওয়া হবে৷ যারা এবার মাধ্যমিক পরীক্ষা দিল তারা একাদশ শ্রেণি থেকে বিনামূল্যের বই পাবে৷’

এর পাশাপাশি রাজ্যের স্কুল পড়ুয়ারা বিনামূল্যে যে জুতো পাবে, তা হবে ‘ওয়াটার প্রুফ’৷ নকশা বদলের নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন শিক্ষামন্ত্রী পার্থ চট্টোপাধ্যায়৷ তিনি জানিয়েছেন, প্রাথমিক পড়ুয়াদের জন্য বিনামূল্যে জুতো দেওয়ার প্রকল্প চালু হয়েছে৷ যা আজ, মঙ্গলবার থেকে শুরু হচ্ছে৷

সরকারি অনুষ্ঠানে কয়েকজন ছাত্রের খালি পা চোখে পড়েছিল মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর৷ তিনি ঘোষণা করেছিলেন বিনামূল্যে গোটা রাজ্যেই ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের জুতো দেওয়া হবে৷ প্রাথমিকভাবে ঠিক হয়েছিল সাদা কেডস পাবে তারা৷ পরে ঠিক হয় কালো চামড়ার জুতো দেওয়া হবে৷ বর্ষাকালে সেই জুতো খারাপ হওয়ার আশঙ্কার কথা জানানো হয় মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়কে৷ বিশেষজ্ঞদের পরামর্শে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীই ‘ওয়াটার প্রুফ’ জুতোর ছাড়পত্র দিয়েছেন৷

জুতোগুলি হবে কালো রঙের৷ জুতোর মান ঠিক রাখতে স্কুলশিক্ষা দফতর কারিগরি শিক্ষা দফতরের সাহায্য চায়৷

The Government of West Bengal is organising Gobindobhog Utsav 2016 from February 26 to 28. This is the latest in the government’s efforts to promote Bengal’s indigenous food to the world.

Over the last five years, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has taken personal initiatives to popularise less-known food from the State – be it sweets like Joynagarer moa and sitabhog or food grains like gobindobhog and tulaipanji or fruits like varieties of mangoes. From applying for (and getting) geographical indication (GI) certifications (to certify their uniqueness) to organising food fairs to selling it through the government’s Biswa Bangla stores, the government has done it all. GI certifications have already applied for gobindobhog and tulaipanji varieties of rice.

This ‘Aromatic Rice Festival of West Bengal,’ as the event has been taglined as, would be held at Nalban Food Park in Kolkata. Entry is free for all.

The festival will promote preparations from three indigenous aromatic varieties of the State – gobindobhog, tulaipanji and kalonunia – through a food festival, an exhibition and also a culinary competition.

 

কলকাতায় অনুষ্ঠিত হতে চলেছে গোবিন্দভোগ উত্সব 

 

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার গোবিন্দভোগ উ९সবএর আয়োজন করছে। শুরু হবে ২৬শে ফেব্রুয়ারি চলবে ২৮শে ফেব্রুয়ারি পর্যন্ত। বাংলার খাবারকে বিশ্বের দরবারে নিয়ে যাওয়ার একটি অভিনব প্রয়াস এটি।

গত পাঁচ বছর ধরে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন দিক তুলে ধরার জন্য অনেক উদ্যোগ নিয়েছেন। বাংলার কয়েকটি মিষ্টিকে ভৌগলিক পরিচিতি দেওয়া হচ্ছে যেগুলো পাওয়া যাবে বিশ্ব বাংলা স্টলে।  গোবিন্দভোগ, তুলাইপঞ্জি ও বিভিন্ন রকম চালেও এই GI ট্যাগ ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে।

কলকাতার নলবনের ফুড পার্কে আয়োজিত হচ্ছে এই উৎসব। সকলের জন্য প্রবেশ বিনামূল্যে।

এই উ९সবে রাজ্যের তিন রকম সুগন্ধি চালকে তুলে ধরা হবে। যেমন – গোবিন্দভোগ, তুলাইপঞ্জি এবং কালোনুনিয়া।

The West Bengal Government’s transport sector got a major boost with the launch of an inter-State bus service with Bihar.

Twenty new routes, mainly through uncharted areas (yet to have railway connectivity) of both West Bengal and Bihar, will be opened up. Nine hundred new buses (both AC and non-AC) will ply between destinations like Motihari, Bhagalpur, Chhapra, Katihar and others in Bihar and Siliguri, Rampurhat, Malda and others in West Bengal. Currently there are 45 bus routes between West Bengal and Bihar.

Bus stations with all modern facilities, like the one in Santragachi, will be developed at the major intermittent points. There are further plans to develop bus routes between West Bengal and all eastern and north-eastern States.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has brought about a big change in the State’s transport sector. As she recently said at a project launch function, “We have ushered in a revolution in the transport sector.”

One thousand five hundred buses and 15,000 taxis have been introduced in the last five years. New bus routes, numbering 126, for North and South Bengal were launched about a week back.

The Gatidhara Scheme has also been launched recently, through which unemployed youth are being given financial help to buy commercial vehicles, in order to earn a living.

 

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ ও বিহারের মধ্যে চালু বাস পরিষেবা

রাজ্যের সঙ্গে বিহারের বাস পরিষেবা চালু করল পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের পরিবহণ দপ্তর।

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ ও বিহার মিলিয়ে মোট ২০টি রুট চালু হয়েছে। এসি ও নন এসি মিলিয়ে মোট ৯০০টি বাস চলবে। বাসগুলি চলবে মোতিহারি, ভাগলপুর, ছাপরা, কাটিহার এবং বিহারের বিভিন্ন জায়গায়। শিলিগুড়ি, রামপুরহাট, মালদাসহ পশ্চিমবঙ্গের বিভিন্ন জায়গায় চলবে এই বাস।

বাস স্টেশন গুলোয় সবরকম আধুনিক ব্যবস্থা থাকবে। ভবিষ্যতে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ এবং পূর্ব ও উত্তর-পূর্ব রাজ্যের মধ্যে বাস রুট ও বাস পরিষেবা আরও উন্নত করা হবে।

মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শ্রীমতী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় পরিবহণ দপ্তরে এক যুগান্তকারী পরিবর্তন এনেছেন। মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর মতে পরিবহণ দপ্তরে এক বৈপ্লবিক পরিবর্তন এসেছে।

গত ৫ বছরে প্রায় ১৫০০ টি বাস এবং ১৫০০০ ট্যাক্সি চালু হয়েছে। গত সপ্তাহে উত্তর ও দক্ষিণ বঙ্গের মধ্যে প্রায় ১২৬ টি বাস রুট চালু হয়েছে।

The Biswa Bangla brand was created by West Bengal Chief Mamata Banerjee to hold up to the world the best of Bengal – be it in handicrafts, art, food or anything else. Through the brand, over the last few years, many a lost art form has been revived.

One such handicraft is a type of shawl with motifs popularised by the Portuguese centuries ago in Bengal, where they had come as traders.

The Indo-Portuguese shawl is an example of the level of sophistication that textiles in India had reached in the 16th and 17th centuries – a time when the Mughal demand for luxury was peaking. These shawls were once the status symbols of aristocratic people. They were made from monochrome and embroidered tussar silk on cotton muslin.

Now these shawls are being revived, and the efforts are paying off. A substantial clientele has been developed for this lost art form both in India and abroad, a clientele which has highly appreciated this work. The work is being produced at a workshop in Garia in South 24-Parganas district.

The designs are mostly sewn in kantha stitch, which is another hallowed tradition of Bengal. The motifs are varied – from people to animals to plants to even chess pieces.

According to the makers, they are very happy to be earning well and thus becoming self-sufficient through selling their wares in Biswa Bangla stores, and also for the fact that they have managed to revive a tradition long thought to be lost.

 

পুনরুজ্জীবিত বাংলায় তৈরি পর্তুগীজ শাল: সৌজন্যে বিশ্ব বাংলা

পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শ্রীমতী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় বিশ্ব বাংলা ব্র্যান্ড তৈরি করেছেন। এই ব্র্যান্ডের মাধ্যমে আমাদের অনেক হারানো শিল্প পুনরুজ্জীবিত হয়েছে।

পর্তুগীজ শতাব্দীর আগে এই ধরনের একটি হস্তশিল্প বঙ্গে জনপ্রিয় ছিল যখন তারা এখানে ব্যবসা শুরু করেছিল। পর্তুগীজ শাল ফিরিয়ে আনার উদ্যোগ নেয় বিশ্ব বাংলা।

বাংলার সেলাই এবং ব্রিটিশদের এই ছবি এই দুইয়ের মেলবন্ধনে তৈরি হচ্ছে পর্তুগীজ শাল। এক্সময় অভিজাত ও বিত্তবান দের স্ট্যাটাস সিম্বল ছিল এই শাল যা সাড়া পৃথিবীর সাহেবদের আকর্ষণ কেড়ে নিত। সিল্ক ও মসলিনের ওপর দুই রকমের সেলাই দিয়ে তৈরি হয় এই শাল।

বর্তমানে এই শাল পুনরুজ্জীবিত করার প্রয়াস চলছে এবং শুধু ভারতে নয় বিদেশেও এই শিল্প হারিয়ে যাচ্ছিল। দক্ষিণ ২৪ পরগনার গড়িয়ায় এর একটি উৎপাদন কেন্দ্রও হয়েছে।

মূলত কাঁথা সেলাই দিয়ে এই ডিজাইন করা হয়েছে, যা বাংলার ঐতিহ্য। মানুষ, পশুপাখি ও গাছপালা দিয়ে বিভিন্ন রকমের কারুকার্য করা আছে।

শিল্পীদের মতে তারা খুব খুশি এবং এখন তাদের আয়ও বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে। এইসব জিনিস বিশ্ব বাংলার দোকান গুলিতে বিক্রি করে এর মাধ্যমে তারা স্ব-নির্ভর হয়েছে, এবং বাংলার হারিয়ে যাওয়া ঐতিহ্য গুলো পুররুজ্জিবিত হচ্ছে।

The Kanyashree Scheme for girl children has been one of the biggest achievements of the West Bengal Government. Almost 31 lakh girls have benefitted from this flagship scheme.

Thanks to the Kanyashree Scheme, the school dropout rate among girls as well as instances of early marriage have come down in the State.

The Kanyashree Scheme has received international recognition, being awarded by UNICEF and being showcased at the Girl Summit 2014, co-hosted by the UK government and UNICEF in London. The State government has been celebrating August 14 as Kanyashree Divas for the last three years.

The government has also launched a scheme for children affected by malnutrition, as a part of which 69,39,673 children aged 6 months to 6 years and 13,77,360 pregnant and lactating women have been provided nutrition.

The number of malnutrition-free children aged 5 years now number 60,52,091. From 36.06% in 2011, the number of malnourished kids has come down to 19% in 2015.

The government launched the State Plan of Action on Children 2014-18 on December 16, 2014.

Swabalamban Scheme has been started for the empowerment of women. The government is also rehabilitating sex workers through its Muktir Aalo scheme.

 

শিশু স্বাস্থ্য ও মেয়েদের উন্নয়নের কর্মযজ্ঞে বাংলা

 পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের একটি বড় সাফল্যের নাম কন্যাশ্রী পকল্প। প্রায় ৩১ লক্ষ মেয়েদের এই প্রকল্পের আওতায় আনা হয়েছে। এর ফলে কমেছে স্কুলছুটের সংখ্যা, কমানো গেছে অল্প বয়সে মেয়েদের বিয়ে দেওয়ার প্রবণতাও।
কন্যাশ্রীর সাফল্যের জন্য ইউকে এবং ইউনিসেফের আন্তর্জাতিক উন্নয়ন দফতর আয়োজিত ‘গার্ল সামিট’-এ সেরা নির্বাচিত হয়েছে কন্যাশ্রী। পেয়েছে মন্থন পুরস্কারও।
কন্যাশ্রীর সাফল্য উদযাপন করতে ১৪ আগস্ট, কন্যাশ্রী দিবসে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় এক বর্ণাঢ্য অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করেছিলেন।
অপুষ্টিতে আক্রান্ত শিশুদের জন্য সরকার চালু করেছে বিশেষ প্রকল্প। শিশুদের অপুষ্টি থেকে রক্ষা করতে শুরু হয়ছে আইসিডিএস প্রকল্প। এই কাজকে সফল ভাবে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যেতে ২০টি জেলায় চালু হয়েছে ১ লক্ষ ১৪ হাজার ৪৭৭টি অঙ্গনওয়ারি কেন্দ্র। ৬ মাস থেকে ৬ বছর বয়সের ৬৯৩৯৬৭৩ জন শিশু এবং  ১৩৭৭৩৬০ জন গর্ভবতী ও স্তনদায়ী মহিলাকে প্রয়োজনীয় পুষ্টির জোগান দেওয়া হয়েছে।
৫ বছর বয়সী ৬০৫২০৯১ জন অপুষ্টিতে আক্রান্ত শিশু এখন সুস্থ। সরকারের এইসব প্রকল্পের ফলে অপুষ্টিতে আক্রান্ত শিশুদের সংখ্যা এখন অনেকটাই কম। ২০১১য় যা ছিল ৩৬.০৬ শতাংশ তা বর্তমানে ১৯.৯৭ শতাংশ।
রাজ্যের শিশুদের অবস্থার উন্নতির জন্য ১৬ ডিসেম্বর ২০১৪ মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় ‘স্টেট প্ল্যান অব অ্যাকশন অন চিল্ড্রেন ২০১৪-১৮’-এর উদ্বোধন করেন।
রাজ্যের মহিলাদের স্বনির্ভর করতে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় চালু করেছেন ‘স্ববালম্বন প্রকল্প’ । যৌন কর্মীদের জন্য শুরু হয়েছে প্রকল্প ‘মুক্তির আলো’।

The Trinamool Congress-run Kolkata Municipal Corporation is going to gift a bouquet of projects to the people of Kolkata over the next few days.

Some of these projects, which were planned earlier, are now being wrapped up. The civic officials are also laying the foundation of a few other projects in the city.

From the augmentation of filtered water supply to the strengthening of the roads and sewerage systems, to the beautification of parks, KMC is ensuring the convenience of people in every sector.

Water

Among the developmental projects, water supply is one of the top priorities for the civic body. Within a span of 10 days, two water booster pumping stations were inaugurated by the KMC.

While the first pumping station was inaugurated in Bansdroni, the second one was inaugurated at Behala’s Parnasree.

The booster pumping station in Bansdroni will cater to large areas of Kudghat and Bansdroni while thousands living in Behala East will benefit from the booster pumping station at Parnasree.

Roads

Next in the civic body’s priority list is improvement of the city’s roads. The KMC Roads Department took up as many as 80 full-length roads or stretches of major roads for re-laying or strengthening.

Some of the major roads where strengthening (application of mastic asphalt) works are currently on include Chittaranjan Avenue, Amherst Street, Rashbehari Avenue, Ashutosh Mukherjee Road and Raja SC Mullick Road. The KMC Roads Department has also taken up the entire length of the Prince Anwar Shah Road connector to EM Bypass for repair.

Sewerage

The civic body has taken up strengthening of underground sewerage lines to combat waterlogging. The KMC Drainage and Sewerage Department has invited a national tender for procurement of sophisticated machines for de-silting of sewerage lines.

Greenery

The KMC Parks Department is also in the race. On Friday, the mayor inaugurated three machines with water sprinklers that will take care of the city’s full-grown trees and roadside plants. More such machines will be pressed into service this year, the mayor said.

Footnote

The Trinamool Congress, under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee, has been dedicated to the service of people. The continuous endeavours of the KMC to serve people are a testimony in this regard.

 

কলকাতার মানুষের জন্য একগুচ্ছ প্রকল্প

তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস পরিচালিত কলকাতা পুরসভা আগামী কয়েক দিনে এক গুচ্ছ প্রকল্প উপহার দিতে চলেছে আগামী কয়েক দিনের মধ্যে।

এর মধ্যে বেশ কিছু প্রকল্প আগেই হয়েছে পরিকল্পিত হয়েছে, এখন সেগুলি বাস্তবায়িত হবে।  বেশ কিছু প্রকল্পের শিলান্যাস করবেন।

বিশুদ্ধ পানীয় জল সরবরাহ, সুন্দর রাস্তা, নিকাশি ব্যবস্থা,পার্কের সৌন্দর্যায়ন সব ক্ষেত্রেই কলকাতা পুরসভা প্রতিটি ক্ষেত্রেই জনগণের সুবিধা সুনিশ্চিত করেছে।

জল

বিভিন্ন উন্নয়নমূলক প্রকল্পের মধ্যে জল সরবরাহ একটি অতি গুরুত্বপূর্ন প্রকল্প। ১০ দিনের মধ্যে ২টি বুস্টার পাম্পিং স্টেশন উদ্বোধন করেছে কলকাতা পুরসভা।

প্রথম বুস্টার পাম্পিং স্টেশনটি হয়েছে বাঁশদ্রোণিতে এবং দ্বিতীয়টি হয়েছে বেহালায়। বাঁশদ্রোণির বুস্টার পাম্পিং স্টেশনের মাধ্যমে বাঁশদ্রোণি ও কুঁদঘাটের অনেকটা এলাকা এবং পর্ণশ্রীর বুস্টার পাম্পিং স্টেশনের মাধ্যমে পশ্চিম বেহালার হাজার হাজার মানুষ উপকৃত হবেন।

রাস্তা

শহরের রাস্তাঘাট সাড়াইও পুরসভার একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ দায়িত্ব। শহরের মোট ৮০টি রাস্তা সাড়াইয়ের কাজ হাতে নিয়েছে পুরসভা।

কলকাতার বেশ কিছু প্রধান রাস্তার ব্যপক পরিবর্তন হয়েছে, যেমন চিত্তরঞ্জন অ্যাভিনিউ, আমহার্স্ট স্ট্রিট, রাসবিহারি অ্যাভিনিউ, আশুতোষ মুখার্জি রোড, রাজা এস সি মল্লিক রোড ইত্যাদি। ইএম বাইপাস ও আনোয়ারশাহ সহ আরও কিছু রাস্তা মেরামত করেছে কলকাতা পুরসভা।

নিকাশি ব্যবস্থা

ভূগর্ভস্থ নিকাশি ব্যবস্থা আরও শক্তিশালী করা হয়েছে যাতে জল না জমে থাকে। কলকাতা পুরসভার কাছে নিকাশি দপ্তর নিকাশি ব্যবস্থার উন্নতির জন্য অত্যাধুনিক মেশিন তৈরির জন্য আবেদন জানিয়েছে।

সবুজায়ন

কলকাতার গাছগুলোর সবুজ রঙ ও উজ্জ্বলতা ফিরিয়ে আনার জন্য নতুন উদ্যোগ নিয়েছে কলকাতা পুরসভা। গাছের পাতাকে সবুজ এবং কার্বনমুক্ত রাখতে শুক্রবার নতুন পাতা ধোয়ার গাড়ির উদ্বোধন করলেন পুরসভার মেয়র শোভন চ্যাটার্জি। মেয়র আরও জানান, এই ধরনের আরও বেশ কিছু মেশিন আনা হবে এই বছরেরে মধ্যেই।

পরিশেষে

মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শ্রীমতী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের পরিচালিত তৃণমূল সরকার জনগণের সেবায় নিয়োজিত হয়েছে। সব শ্রেণীর মানুষের জন্য দিন রাত কাজ করে চলেছে কলকাতা পুরসভা।

Like every year, the West Bengal government observes International Mother Language Day with full honour at Bhasha Shahid Smarak, Deshapriya Park.

For the last few years, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been leading from the front in making today worth remembering in West Bengal’s cultural calendar. This is in stark contrast to the Left Front’s 34 years in power, when little or nothing was done for something so close to the heart of Bengalis.

On 19 February, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Bhasha Shahid Smarak at the Ekushe Udyan park, opposite MP Birla Planetarium in Kolkata.

 

আজ ভাষা দিবস উদযাপন করল পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার

আজ আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃ ভাষা দিবস। প্রতি বছরের মত এবছরও শহীদদের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধার্ঘ্য জানাতে এই উপলক্ষে আজ দক্ষিণ কলকাতার দেশপ্রিয় পার্কে ‘অমর একুশে’ অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করেছিল রাজ্য সরকার। অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শ্রীমতী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। এছাড়াও উপস্থিত ছিলেন সুব্রত মুখার্জি, ফিরহাদ হাকিম, অরূপ বিশ্বাস, শোভন চ্যাটার্জি।

মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের উদ্যোগে দেশপ্রিয় পার্কে একটি স্মারক তৈরি হয়েছে।

গত ১৯শে ফেব্রুয়ারি আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস উপলক্ষে তথ্য ও সংস্কৃতি দপ্তর, রাজ্য সরকার ও কলকাতা পুরসভার উদ্যোগে বিড়লা প্ল্যানেটোরিয়ামের বিপরীতে ২১শে উদ্যানে একটি ভাষা শহিদ স্মারকের আবরণ উন্মোচন করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা ব্যানার্জি, যার উচ্চতা প্রায় ১৪ ফুট। মূর্তিতে ফুটিয়ে তোলা হয়েছে মাতৃভাষার জন্য লড়াইয়ে শহিদ ভাইয়ের মৃতদেহ নিয়ে বোন বসে আছে। বোনের মুখে শোকের চিহ্ন নেই।

এই উপলক্ষে সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ায় সকল ভাষাভাষীর মানুষকে অভিনন্দন ও জানিয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

On the eve of International Mother Language Day, West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee paid an ‘innovative’ tribute to the martyrs of the 1952 Language Movement (Bhasha Shahids) by changing her Twitter profile name to Bengali font.

For the last few years, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been leading from the front in making 21 February a date worth remembering in West Bengal’s cultural calendar. This is in stark contrast to the Left Front’s 34 years in power, when little or nothing was done for something so close to the hearts of Bengalis.

Respecting Bengal’s heritage

On 19 February, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Bhasha Shahid Smarak at the Ekushe Udyan park, opposite MP Birla Planetarium in Kolkata. The beautiful memorial comprises of a statue of a beautiful young woman with long braided hair, holding a dead man on her lap. The woman symbolises ‘Mother Language’ and the dead man, the martyrs who gave their lives for the cause of their language. On the pedestal are etched the famous lines “Aamar bhai-er rakte rangano Ekushe February/ Ami ki bhulite pari” in Bengali.

Mamata Banerjee had earlier inaugurated another splendid memorial at Deshapriya Park in south Kolkata, consisting of a series of stacked-up pedestals in red, one smaller than the other going from the bottom to the top, arranged haphazardly, with the names of the ‘Bhasha Shahids,’ or Language Martyrs, and other associated with the movement, on them.

 

ভাষা শহীদদের প্রতি মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের উদ্ভাবনী শ্রদ্ধার্ঘ্য

আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবসের প্রাক্কালে নিজের ট্যুইটার অ্যাকাউণ্টের নাম বাংলা ভাষায় বদল করে ১৯৫২ সালের শহীদদের প্রতি এক অভিনব পদ্ধতিতে শ্রদ্ধার্ঘ্য নিবেদন করলেন মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শ্রীমতী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।

ক্ষমতায় আসার পর থেকে গত কয়েক বছর ধরে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী প্রতি বছর এই দিনটিকে উদযাপন করেন যথাযথ সম্মানের সাথে। গত ৩৪ বছরে বামফ্রন্ট সরকার ক্ষমতায় থাকাকালীন কিছু করেনি এইসকল শহীদদের উদ্দেশ্যে।

বাংলার ঐতিহ্য

গত ১৯শে ফেব্রুয়ারি আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস উপলক্ষে বিড়লা প্ল্যানেটোরিয়ামের বিপরীতে ২১শে উদ্যানে এই ভাষা শহিদ স্মারকের আবরণ উন্মোচন করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা ব্যানার্জি। তথ্য ও সংস্কৃতি দপ্তর, রাজ্য সরকার ও কলকাতা পুরসভার উদ্যোগে এই স্মারক বসেছে।

মূর্তিটির উচ্চতা ১৪ ফুট। মূর্তিতে ফুটিয়ে তোলা হয়েছে মাতৃভাষার জন্য লড়াইয়ে শহিদ ভাইয়ের মৃতদেহ নিয়ে বোন বসে আছে। বোনের মুখে শোকের চিহ্ন নেই। সামনে লেখা, ‘আমার ভাইয়ের রক্তে রাঙানো ২১শে ফেব্রুয়ারি, আমি কি ভুলিতে পারি’। কয়েক বছর আগে রাষ্ট্রপুঞ্জ ২১ ফ্রেব্রয়ারি দিনটিকে ঘোষণা করেছে, আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস। আগামী ২১ ফেব্রুয়ারি এখানে অনুষ্ঠান হবে। প্রতি বছরের মত ওই দিন বিকেলে দেশপ্রিয় পার্কেও অনুষ্ঠান হবে।

এর আগে দক্ষিণ কলকাতার দেশপ্রিয় পার্কে একটি ভাষা শহীদ স্মারক উন্মোচন করেন মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

Jhargram in Paschim Medinipur district, in the Jangalmahal region, is all set to become a tourists’ paradise.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee laid the foundation stone for a zoo there recently, which has been named Jangalmahal Zoological Park.

The already-existing mini zoo, about three kilometres from the town, will be converted into this full-fledged zoo. It will be located on about 23 hectares and would be the largest zoo in South Bengal.

The mini zoo has animals like barking deer, bears, peacocks, jungle cats, crocodiles, spotted turtles, snakes as well as different species of birds. Many more species would join them after the formation of the full-fledged zoo, including tigers, leopards, monkeys and other animals.

There would also be a sanctuary for birds and even an animal hospital. Roads would also be constructed inside the zoo for people to move around comfortably.

 

ঝাড়গ্রাম জুলজিকাল পার্ক – জঙ্গলমহলের শিরোপায় নতুন পালক

পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুরের জঙ্গলমহল এলাকার ঝাড়গ্রাম এখন একটি বিখ্যাত পর্যটন কেন্দ্র।

পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শ্রীমতী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়, কয়েকদিন আগেই জঙ্গলমহলে একটি চিড়িয়াখানার শিলান্যাস করেন যার নাম ‘জঙ্গলমহল জুলজিকাল পার্ক”।

দক্ষিণবঙ্গের বৃহত্তম চিড়িয়াখানাটি ২৩ হেক্টর জমির ওপর তৈরি হবে।

এই ছোট চিড়িয়াখানাটিতে বার্কিং ডিয়ার, ভালুক, ময়ূর, জংলী বিড়াল, কুমীর, কচ্ছপ, সাপ ও বিভিন্ন ধরনের পাখি আছে। চিড়িয়াখানা পুনর্নির্মাণের পর আরও কিছু প্রজাতির পশু পাখি যেমন- বাঘ, চিতাবাঘ, বাঁদর ও অন্যান্য পশু পাখি আনা হবে।

সেখানে একটি বার্ড স্যাংচুয়ারিও হবে যেখানে পশু-পাখি চিকিৎসালয়ও থাকবে। চিড়িয়াখানার ভেতরে রাস্তাও তৈরি হবে যাতে মানুষ ঘুরে তা দেখতে পারেন।

The Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal Government has been very successful in her efforts to improve air connectivity, both within the State as well as between the State and other States and countries.

The State government has now planned to renovate the airports in Malda and Balurghat to further improve the connectivity of North Bengal. For this purpose, the State Transport Department has sent a proposal to the Airports Authority of India (AAI), which is expected to be approved soon.

The State Public Works Department (PWD) would oversee the work of building the two airports; tenders have already been called.

After Cooch Behar, the renovation of these two airports in Malda and Balurghat would further enhance travel opportunities, both for business and leisure activities.

 

মালদা ও বালুরঘাটে নতুন বিমানবন্দর তৈরির পরিকল্পনা

মালদা ও বালুরঘাটে বিমানবন্দর পুনর্নির্মাণের সিদ্ধান্ত নিচ্ছে রাজ্য সরকার। এর ফলে উত্তরবঙ্গের সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থা আরও উন্নত হবে।

বিমানবন্দরের পরিকাঠামো গড়ে তোলার জন্য এয়ারপোর্ট অথরিটি অফ ইন্ডিয়ার কাছ থেকে জমি নিচ্ছে রাজ্য সরকার। বৃহস্পতিবার রাজ্য মন্ত্রী সভার বৈঠকে এই সিদ্ধান্ত হয়েছে।

বালুরঘাটে ১৩২ একর জমি এবং মালদায় ১১৪ একর জমির ওপর তৈরি হবে এই পরিকাঠামো।

PWD এই এয়ারপোর্টের পরিকাঠামোগত উনুয়নের মাধ্যমে এর পুনর্নির্মাণ করবে।

কোচবিহারের পর মালদা ও বালুরঘাট বিমানবন্দর চালু হলে ভ্রমণ, ব্যবসা বাণিজ্য সবক্ষেত্রেই যোগাযোগ আরও সম্প্রসারিত হবে।
