Under the leadership of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Mother Dairy’s milk and milk products have become a grand success.
Now Mother Dairy has come up with another winning product: that sweet dish for all occasions for Bengalis – payesh, or rice pudding.
Payesh kiosks
One such payesh-selling kiosk was inaugurated on Ironside Road in Kolkata few weeks ago. The Chief Secretary of the State, the Home Secretary and other senior officials who inaugurated it were all praise for the payesh after tasting it. This kiosk is also the first integrated Mother Dairy kiosk – where rice, vegetables, meat and eggs would be available too. At least 400 such integrated kiosks will be opened in the State in the near future.

The idea for selling payesh at Mother Dairy kiosks came from Mamata Banerjee herself, and the recipe too. As per her instruction, gobindabhog rice, nalen gur, raisins and kheer go into the making of the payesh.
Over the past few years, it was mainly due to the efforts of the Chief Minister that Mother Dairy has become a profitable company. The current working capital of the organisation has crossed Rs 50 crore.
The budget of the Animal Husbandry Department, under which Mother Dairy falls, has taken a huge leap, from Rs 82.02 crore during financial year 2011-12 to Rs 495 crore for 2016-17. Till five years back, the number of booths was 3,200.
Under the Trinamool Congress Government, the number has steadily gone up and is going to touch 5,000 during the current financial year.
পায়েস বিপণনের উদ্যোগ মাদার ডেয়ারির
পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের নেতৃত্বে মাদার ডেয়ারির দুধ ও দুগ্ধজাত পণ্যগুলি এক অভিনব সাফল্য পেয়েছে। দুধ, দই, পনির, ঘি এই লিস্টে নতুন প্রোডাক্ট পায়েস যোগ করল মাদার ডেয়ারি। পায়েসের এই রেডিমেড প্যাক এখন মাদার ডেয়ারির সব প্রোডাক্ট গুলির মধ্যে আকর্ষণীয় তাতে কোন সন্দেহ নেই।
জাতীয় ক্ষেত্রে সার্বিক পরিচিতি ও বিপণনকে সমৃদ্ধ করতে উদ্যোগ হয়েছে বাংলার ডেয়ারি, যার পূর্ব নাম ছিল মাদার ডেয়ারি। মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর দেওয়া এই নতুন নাম সম্প্রতি মন্ত্রিসভার বৈঠকেও অনুমোদিত হয়েছে। রাজ্যের চাহিদা মিটিয়ে এখন ভিন রাজ্যেও বিপণনের পরিকল্পনা করছে এই সংস্থা।
গত কয়েক বছর ধরে, আর্থিক ভাবে পিছিয়ে পড়া এই সরকারি সংস্থা স্বনির্ভর হয়ে এখন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী প্রচেষ্টায় স্বনির্ভর হয়ে লাভের মুখ দেখছে। সংগঠনের বর্তমান মূলধন ৫০ কোটি ছাড়িয়ে গেছে। পরিসংখ্যান অনুযায়ী ২০১০-২০১১ আর্থিক বছরে প্রাণী সম্পদ দপ্তরের বাজেটে বরাদ্দ অর্থের পরিমাণ ছিল ৮২.০২ কোটি। চলতি বছরে এই বরাদ্দের পরিমাণ করা হয়েছে ৪৯৫ কোটি। ৫ বছর আগে রাজ্যে মাদার ডেয়ারির বুথের সংখ্যা ছিল ৩২০০, চলতি বছরে এই সংখ্যা ৫০০০ করার পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে রাজ্য সরকারের।
প্রাণী সম্পদ বিকাশ দপ্তরের এই স্টল থেকে বিক্রি করা হচ্ছে মাংস, দিম এমনকি প্যাকেটবন্দী পায়েস। পায়েসের এই অভিনব আইডিয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের। গোবিন্দভোগ চাল, নলেন গুড়, কিসমিস আর ক্ষীর দিয়ে তৈরি হচ্ছে এই পায়েস যা এখন গ্র্যান্ড সাকসেস অর্জন করেছে।
আয়রন সাইড রোডে ইতিমধ্যেই প্রাণী সম্পদ বিকাশ দপ্তর একটি কিয়স্কের উদ্বোধন করে। এখান থেকে চাল, সবজি, মাছ, মাংস, ডিম, দুধ ও দুগ্ধজাত সব জিনিস বিক্রি করা হয়। আগামীদিনে রাজ্যে এরকম আরও ৪০০টি কিয়স্ক তৈরির পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে।
