The State Government has decided to double the power supply to Sagar Island during the Ganga Sagar Mela from 8.9 million units (MU) to 16 MU per day. The annual fair will be held from January 10-16 this time.

Millions of people from across the country, most of whom are pilgrims, and some, tourists, as well as many foreign tourists, descend on to Sagar Island in the Sundarbans every year. Doubling the load capacity will result in a smooth power situation during the seven days of the fair, which centres around the ashram of Kapil Muni on the island. Power cuts will be a thing of the past.

The Power Department will also arrange six generators to meet any emergency situation. As many as 10 centres will be set up inside the Sagar Mela where a total of 50 Power Department officials will be deployed. They would oversee the entire situation, as well as attend to any complaint that may arise within two to three minutes. There will be an additional deployment of 300 contractual staff. Various electrical apparatuses including high and low-tension wires have also been repaired.

গঙ্গা সাগর মেলায় দ্বিগুন বিদ্যুৎ সরবরাহ করবে রাজ্য সরকার

 

রাজ্য সরকার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে গঙ্গাসাগর মেলা চলাকালীন স্বাগর দ্বীপে বিদ্যুৎ যোগান দ্বিগুন করবে। সাধারণত সাগরে ৮.৯ MU বিদ্যুৎ সরবরাহ করা হয়; মেলার সময় বিদ্যুৎ যোগান বাড়িয়ে ১৬ MU করা হবে। এই মেলা সাগর দ্বীপে কপিল মুনির আশ্রমে অনুষ্ঠিত হবে ১০-১৬ই জানুয়ারি।

সারা দেশের বিভিন্ন প্রান্ত থেকে লক্ষ লক্ষ মানুষ – তীর্থযাত্রী, অন্য রাজ্যের পর্যটক, বিদেশী পর্যটক – এই মেলায় আসেন প্রতি বছর। বিদ্যুৎ সরবরাহ দ্বিগুন করার ফলে কোনওরকম বিদ্যুতের ঘাটতি হবে না।

বিদ্যুৎ দপ্তর ৬টি জেনারেটরের ব্যবস্থা রাখবে। মেলার অন্তর্গত ১০টি জায়গায় অন্তত ৫০ জন বিদ্যুৎ দপ্তরের কর্মী সবসময় উপস্থিত থাকবেন। এছাড়া ৩০০ চুক্তিভিত্তিক কর্মী ওখানে থাকবেন। সাগর দ্বীপের বৈদ্যুতিক পরিকাঠামো ইতিমধ্যেই সংস্কার করা হয়েছে।

Like every year, this year too, the Bengal Government has set up all the facilities for a successful Gangasagar Mela, and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has taken a leading part.

Lakhs of pilgrims have arrived from all over India, and many from other countries too. Among the steps taken are satellite phones to police personnel at crucial points, Wi-Fi zone, CCTV, a special website, and others.

The Chief Minister has a special message for all the pilgrims congregated at Ganga Sagar.

Chief Minister’s message:

My heartiest welcome to all pilgrims to Gangasagar Mela. To make your entire journey to, and stay at, Gangasagar Mela successful and safe, the Bengal Government has taken a lot of measures.
Adequate drinking water, toilet, residence and other facilities have been arranged for all pilgrims. Life insurance has also been taken on all pilgrims by the State Government.
Security arrangements have been taken at all places – be it at the fairground or along the way. We wish for all of you a successful, safe and blessed stay.

 

গঙ্গাসাগর মেলায় আগত পুণ্যার্থীদের জন্য শুভেচ্ছা বার্তা মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর

 

প্রতি বছরের মত এ বছরেও মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের উদ্যোগে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার আয়োজন করেছে গঙ্গাসাগর মেলার।

এই পুণ্য স্নান করতে দেশ বিদেশ থেকে এসেছেন লক্ষ লক্ষ পুন্যার্থী, পর্যটক। তাদের আতিথেয়তা ও নিরাপত্তার জন্য মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর নির্দেশে প্রশাসন গ্রহণ করেছে প্রচুর পদক্ষেপ।

স্যাটেলাইট ফোন, ওয়াইফাই জোন, সিসিটিভি, ওয়েবসাইট সব খোলা হয়েছে এই মেলাকে কেন্দ্র করে। প্রশাসনের তরফ থেকে পুন্যার্থীদের দেওয়া হয়েছ কিছু সতর্ক বার্তা।

এবার মুখ্যমন্ত্রী স্বয়ং আগন্তুকদের উদ্দেশ্যে বার্তা দিলেন:

“গঙ্গাসাগরে আগত সমস্ত তীর্থ যাত্রী মা, বোন, ভাই এবং গুরুজনদের পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে আন্তরিক অভিনন্দন। আপনাদের যাত্রা সাফল্যমন্ডিত, নিরাপদ এবং কল্যাণময় করার জন্য পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার দ্বারা পর্যাপ্ত ব্যবস্থা গৃহীত হয়েছে।

পানীয় জল, শৌচালয়, যাত্রী-নিবাস ইত্যাদির পর্যাপ্ত এবং উপযুক্ত ব্যবস্থা করা হয়েছে। সকল তীর্থযাত্রীদের জীবনবীমাও করা হয়েছে। যাতায়াত ব্যবস্থা তথা মেলা প্রাঙ্গণ এবং অন্য সব জায়গায় পর্যাপ্ত নিরাপত্তার ব্যবস্থা করা হয়েছে।

আমরা আপনাদের সাফল্যমণ্ডিত, নিরাপদ ও মঙ্গলময় যাত্রার শুভ কামনা করি।”

Bengal government has bagged the first prize from the Centre for implementing the e-tendering process.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made the announcement on Friday. She said: “Yesterday the Bengal government was awarded with the first prize for ensuring e-tendering. The state government has become the best in the country by ensuring e-tendering of 53,000 projects worth Rs 36,000 crore and the Ministry of Finance has given the award.”

The Chief Minister congratulated the state Finance department and the state Information Technology department for their efforts, which made it possible for the state government to bag the award.

Soon after coming to power, the Mamata Banerjee government has started taking all necessary steps to ensure e-governance and at the same time, the e-tendering process and the e-Integrated Finance Management System (eIFMS) were introduced. Before the e-tendering process had started, the entire process of tendering used to take place manually that had left many options for lack of transparency.

Besides making the process to participate in the tendering process easier, the Mamata Banerjee government has also ensured transparency by introducing e-tendering.

 

টেন্ডারে স্বচ্ছতা এনে সেরা বাংলা

দেশের মধ্যে ই-টেন্ডারিংয়ে সেরা হয়েছে রাজ্য। ৫৩ হাজারের বেশি ই-টেন্ডারিং করে প্রায় ৩৬ হাজার কোটি টাকার কাজ হয়েছে। তা যে স্বচ্ছ প্রশাসন চালানোর স্বীকৃতি সেটাও স্পষ্ট।

ই-গভর্ন্যান্স ও ই-ট্যাক্সেশন-এর ক্ষেত্রেও রাজ্য সেরা হয়েছিল। অর্থ দপ্তর ও তথ্য প্রযুক্তি দপ্তর যৌথ ভাবে কাজ করেছে। এজন্য ওই দুই দপ্তরকে অভিনন্দনও জানিয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

ক্ষমতায় আসার পর থেকেই ই-গভর্ন্যান্সের ওপর জোর দিয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। অর্থ দপ্তরে চালু হয়েছে e-Integrated Finance Management System (eIFMS)।

The Bengal Government’s Irrigation Department, in collaboration with Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO), has chalked out a plan to beautify the banks of a stretch on the Bagjola Canal that passes through New Town.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wants the stretch to be developed which is situated close to the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, the showpiece convention centre of the State Government.

The banks of Bagjola Canal have already been beautified and lights have been installed and meticulous gardening has been done. The State Government is carrying out dredging operation in some parts of the Bagjola Canal and the embankments are being repaired or reconstructed.

As part of the beautification project, among other things, fountains will be installed along the banks of the canal, nets will be installed on both the two banks to prevent people from throwing garbage in the canal and the floating garbage will be cleaned.

বাগজোলা খালপাড়ের সৌন্দর্যায়ন করবে সেচ দপ্তর

হিডকোর সঙ্গে যৌথ উদ্যোগে নিউটাউনের বাগজোলা খালপাড়ের সৌন্দর্যায়ন করবে রাজ্য সেচ দপ্তর।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর ঐকান্তিক ইচ্ছায় নব নির্মিত বিশ্ব বাংলা কনভেনশন সেন্টারের অনতিদূরে অবস্থিত এই বাগজোলা খালপাড়ের সৌন্দর্যায়ন করার উদ্যোগ রাজ্যের।

বাগজোলা খালের দুপাশে ইতিমধ্যেই বসানো হয়েছে নতুন আলোস্তম্ভ, সাজানো হয়েছে বাগান। রাজ্য সরকার বাগজোলা খালে ড্রেজিং করছে এবং বিভিন্ন বাঁধগুলোর সংস্কারও করা হচ্ছে।

এই খালের দুপাশে বসানো হবে ফোয়ারাও। দুই পাড় জাল দিয়ে ঘেরা হবে যাতে এই খালে কেউ ময়লা ফেলতে না পারেন। নিয়মিত ভাসমান ময়লা পরিষ্কারও করা হবে।

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, during the inauguration programme of Mati Utsav on January 2 announced bravery awards for 57 Kanyashree clubs in Purba Bardhaman district that helped stop around 116 child marriages in the last five months.

She also handed over appreciation certificates to 10 such clubs.

According to district administration officials, the Kanyashree beneficiaries played a crucial role in combating child marriage in the district.

Clubs have been formed in 781 schools in the district. The members, who are all girls, act as the eyes and ears of the district administration and alert the authorities whenever a child marriage is about to happen. They also help the officials counsel the parents of minors against child marriages.

১১৬টি নাবালিকা বিয়ে আটকে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর প্রশংসা পেল কন্যাশ্রী ক্লাব

পূর্ব বর্ধমানে মাটি উৎসব উদ্বোধনের মঞ্চে জেলায় পাঁচ মাসে ১১৬টি নাবালিকা বিয়ে আটকানোর জন্য কন্যাশ্রী ক্লাবের সদস্যদের প্রশংসা করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। তিনি বলেন, “কত সাহস নিয়ে কন্যাশ্রীর মেয়েরা বাল্যবিবাহ রুখেছে। ওদের প্রতি আমার ভালবাসা ও আশীর্বাদ রইল। পুলিশকে ওদের সাহসিকতার জন্য পুরস্কার দিতে বলব।”

আগে পড়াশোনা, পরে বিয়ে— পুরুলিয়ার রেখা কালিন্দী, বীণা কালিন্দী, আফসানা খাতুনদের এই লড়াই এখন ছড়িয়ে পড়েছে রাজ্যে। এই সব মেয়েদের হাত আরও শক্ত করছে স্কুলে-স্কুলে গড়ে ওঠা ‘কন্যাশ্রী ক্লাব’। সহপাঠীরা সবাই স্কুলে আসছে কি না, নিয়মিত খোঁজ রাখে পূর্ব বর্ধমানের কন্যাশ্রী ক্লাব। কেউ টানা দিন কয়েক না এলেই বাড়িতে হাজির হয় তারা।

এই কাজের জন্য এ দিন দশটি কন্যাশ্রী ক্লাবের সভানেত্রীর হাতে শংসাপত্র তুলে দেন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। কন্যাশ্রী প্রকল্পের পূর্ব বর্ধমান জেলা আধিকারিক বলেন, “আমাদের চোখ ও কান হচ্ছে কন্যাশ্রী মেয়েরা। সহপাঠীর বিয়ে রোখার পাশাপাশি, কন্যাশ্রীরা সংশ্লিষ্ট অভিভাবকদের কাউন্সেলিংও করছে।”

মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর অনুপ্রেরণায় ২০১৩ সালের ১লা অক্টোবর এই প্রকল্প চালু হয়। এই প্রকল্পের উদ্দেশ্য বাল্যবিবাহ রোধ করা। রাজ্যের প্রতি অঞ্চলের প্রায় ১৫,৫০০ প্রতিষ্ঠান–প্রথা বহির্ভূত বিদ্যালয়, মাদ্রাসা, কলেজ, মুক্ত বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এবং বিশ্ব বিদ্যালয় বৃত্তিমূলক প্রশিক্ষণ কেন্দ্র, শিল্প প্রশিক্ষণ, এমনকি ক্রীড়া প্রশিক্ষণ কেন্দ্রের প্রায় ৪০লক্ষ কিশোরীকে এই প্রকল্পের অধীনে আনা হয়েছে।

৫০০০-এরও বেশী মেয়েকে আত্মরক্ষার প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়া হয়েছে। রাষ্ট্রপুঞ্জে জনপরিষেবা দিবস উপলক্ষে এক অনুষ্ঠানে বাংলার প্রকল্প ‘কন্যাশ্রী’ প্রথম পুরস্কার পায়। ৬৩টি দেশের ৫৫২ প্রকল্পকে হারিয়ে সেরার শিরোপা পায় কন্যাশ্রী। এর ফলে অসাধারন ভাবে কমেছে স্কুলছুটের হার। এখন স্কুল ও কলেজের গণ্ডী পেরিয়ে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়েও পাড়ি দিয়েছে কন্যাশ্রী।

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, at a public meeting after the inauguration of Mati Utsav on January 2, announced that the State Government would construct five lakh houses (for five lakh families) for economically weaker sections (EWS) under the Banglar Bari Scheme.

Banglar Bari is a scheme meant for financially weaker families in municipal areas, who are homeless and whose monthly income is less than Rs 10,000, and is implemented through the building of four-storey apartments, where a flat is given to each such homeless family.

This project for five lakh houses would be formally inaugurated by the Chief Minister during a programme at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata on January 5. Simultaneously, it would be inaugurated in all the blocks too.

She also announced the increasing of State Government spending for construction of houses under Bangla Awas Yojana to Rs 1.2 lakh, from Rs 75,000, and the inauguration of the Banglar Bari Scheme for North 24 Parganas and Howrah districts on February 4.

The Bengal Government also runs the Gitanjali Scheme for building houses for economically weaker sections in rural regions. Rs 70,000 is spent for a house in the plains and Rs 75,000 for a house in the Hills (forest villages in Jalpaiguri district) and the Sundarbans and in Jangalmahal. From May 2011 to May 2017, 2,98,745 families have benefitted, and the aim is to build 1 lakh units during financial year 2017-18.

 

৫ লক্ষ পরিবারের হাতে এবার ‘বাংলার বাড়ি’ তুলে দেবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

রাস্তা, পানীয় জল, বিদ্যুৎ, দু’টাকা কেজি চাল-গমের সঙ্গে কন্যাশ্রী, সবুজশ্রী আর সবুজসাথীর মতো একগুচ্ছ উন্নয়ন প্রকল্পের সফল রূপায়ণের পর এবার দুঃস্থ-গরিব মানুষের জন্য ‘মাথার ছাদ’-এর সংস্থান।

বাংলা আবাস যোজনার অন্তর্গত আবাসন প্রকল্পে পাঁচ লক্ষ পরিবারের জন্য ‘বাংলার বাড়ি’ তৈরী করাচ্ছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। আগামী ২৯ জানুয়ারি নেতাজি ইন্ডোর স্টেডিয়াম থেকে গৃহহীন মানুষের আবাস সংক্রান্ত এই কর্মসূচির আনুষ্ঠানিক সূচনা করবেন তিনি নিজেই।

মঙ্গলবার বর্ধমানে ষষ্ঠ মাটি উৎসবের উদ্বোধনী মঞ্চ থেকে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, গোটা রাজ্যেই তৈরী হবে বাংলার বাড়ি। ওইদিন কলকাতায় এই অনুষ্ঠানের সূচনা যেমন হবে, তেমনই ব্লক স্তরেও তার শুভারম্ভ হবে সংশ্লিষ্ট জেলাশাসক এবং জনপ্রতিনিধিদের উপস্থিতিতে।

তিনি জানান, আগে আবাসন প্রকল্পে সরকারি ভর্তুকির পরিমাণ ছিল ৭৫ হাজার টাকা। এই টাকায় কিছুই হয় না! তাই এখন থেকে বাড়ি পিছু ১ লক্ষ ২০ হাজার টাকা পাবেন উপভোক্তারা। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, নির্বাচন শেষ হলে, উত্তর ২৪ পরগনা আর হাওড়া জেলায় আগামী ৪ ফেব্রুয়ারি ‘বাংলার বাড়ি’ প্রকল্পের সূচনা হবে।

আর্থিকভাবে দুর্বল শ্রেণীর মানুষের জন্য বাড়ি তৈরী করে দিতে রাজ্যের নতুন প্রকল্প ‘গীতাঞ্জলী’ চালু হয়েছে। এই প্রকল্পে সমতল এলাকায় সুবিধাপ্রাপকদের একক প্রতি ৭০ হাজার টাকা দেওয়া হয়। পাহাড়, সুন্দরবন ও জঙ্গলমহল এলাকায় অতিরিক্ত পাঁচ হাজার টাকা দেওয়া হয়। ২০১১র মে মাস থেকে শুরু করে ২,৯৮,৭৪৫টি পরিবার উপকৃত হয়েছে। ২০১৭-১৮ অর্থবর্ষে এই লক্ষ্যমাত্রা রাখা হয়েছে ১ লক্ষ ইউনিট।

To help primary school teaches in government schools teach English better, the School Education Department is going to introduce a mobile phone app.

The app would contain lessons and other help topics for teaching English in Bengali. This way, even those who are more comfortable in their mother tongue would be able to get immediate help while teaching by just consulting their mobile phones.

The app would contain extensive explanations of all topics in the subject of English language from classes I to V. Each lesson would be explained through a four-to-five-minute audio presentation.

Stress would also be given on spoken English.

 

প্রাথমিক স্তর থেকে ইংরেজির ভিত শক্ত করতে রাজ্য সরকার প্রযুক্তির ব্যবহার করবে

রাজ্যের ছেলেমেয়েদের ইংরেজির ভিত শক্ত করতে উদ্যোগ নিল শিক্ষা দপ্তর । প্রাথমিক স্তর থেকেই ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের ইংরেজি শিক্ষায় নজর দেওয়া হবে।

শিক্ষকদের মোবাইলেই দেওয়া হবে বিশেষ ধরনের অ্যাপ্লিকেশন। এই অ্যাপ্লিকেশনে ইংরেজির বিভিন্ন বিষয় বাংলায় অনুবাদ করে দেওয়া থাকবে। পড়ানোর সময় অসুবিধা হলে এই চিপ থেকেই বিষয়গুলি যাচাই করতে পারবেন শিক্ষকরা।

ইতিমধ্যেই স্কুল শিক্ষা দপ্তরের তরফে তৈরি হয়েছে প্রস্তাব। মার্চ মাস থেকেই শুরু হবে প্রক্রিয়া। শিক্ষকদের দেওয়া হবে বিশেষ প্রশিক্ষণ।

এই নতুন পদ্ধতির মাধ্যমে প্রাথমিক স্তরে শিক্ষক শিক্ষিকাদের এবং ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের কাছে ইংরেজিকে আরও সহজ করে তোলা যাবে বলে মত আধিকারিকদের। আর তাই শিক্ষকদের প্রশিক্ষণের সময়ই এই পদ্ধতি কীভাবে অবলম্বন করা হবে তা শেখানো হবে।

A unique Nature Interpretation Centre was inaugurated on January 1 in Tilabari in Jalpaiguri district. The Centre will help tourists visiting the Gorumara National Park get information on the flora and fauna of the region.

A one-of-its-kind project in the entire state, the Interpretation Centre is expected to attract a large number of tourists. A digital information kiosk along with models disburses important information on the flora and fauna.

The Nature Interpretation Centre is an important component of a larger project, Gorumara Wildlife Tourism Centre. West Bengal Wasteland Development Corporation Ltd. (WBWDCL) is landscaping the Wildlife Tourism Centre, including the Interpretation Centre.

The State Tourism Minister, while inaugurating the Centre, said that it is part of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s plans for the development of tourism in north Bengal. She had earlier flagged off tourism projects for Tilabari, Batabari and Damdim; the Interpretation Centre is a part of those initiatives.

The State Government will develop a water body and a kids’ zone at the Centre; the latter will be informative and will also have facilities to test the skills and knowledge of those visiting the area. Along with this, a multi-purpose hall is under construction which will have conferencing facilities and a multi-gym.

নতুন বছরের প্রথম দিন এক অনন্য নেচার ইন্টারপ্রিটেশন সেন্টারের উদ্বোধন হল জলপাইগুড়ি জেলার তিলাবাড়িতে। গরুমারা জাতীয় উদ্যানগামী পর্যটকরা এই কেন্দ্র থেকে স্থানীয় উদ্ভিদ ও প্রাণী সম্বন্ধে যাবতীয় তথ্য পাবেন।

রাজ্যে এই ধরনের কেন্দ্র এই প্রথম, আশা করা যায় এর ফলে পর্যটনের আরও বিকাশ ঘটবে এই অঞ্চলে। স্থানীয় উদ্ভিদ ও প্রাণীর ব্যাপারে যাবতীয় তথ্য সম্বলিত ডিজিটাল কিওস্কও আছে এই কেন্দ্রে।

পর্যটন মন্ত্রী বলেন, মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের উত্তরবঙ্গের পর্যটন উন্নয়নের যে উদ্যোগ নিয়েছেন, তারই অংশ হল এই নেচার ইন্টারপ্রিটেশন সেন্টার।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী এর আগে তিলাবাড়ি, বাটাবাড়ি, ডামডিম অঞ্চলে পর্যটন প্রকল্পের উদ্বোধন করেছেন।

রাজ্য সরকার একটি জলাশয় ও বাচ্চাদের খেলার জায়গা তৈরী করবে এই কেন্দ্রে। এছাড়া ওখানে একটি মাল্টি-পারপাস হল তৈরী করা হচ্ছে। থাকবে একটি মাল্টি জিমও।

The Biswa Dooars Utsav is bigger and better in 2018. It started on December 29 at Parade Ground in Alipurduar and will continue till January 7, 2018.

Bhutanese mask dancers have been invited. This is a the biggest attraction this year. Besides, freedom fighters involved in Bangladesh’s war of independence, commonly called muktijoddhas, have been invited. Another new aspect of this year’s Dooars Utsav is the inclusion of sportspersons from the Dooars region.

The festival has four stages – the main stage for the important performances, and three more for folk artistes, for child performers (Shishu Mancha), and for quiz competitions and symposia.

 

আরও বেশী জাঁকজমকপূর্ণ এবারের বিশ্ব ডুয়ার্স উৎসব

বিশ্ব ডুয়ার্স উৎসব এবার আরও বেশী জাঁকজমকপূর্ণ হচ্ছে।

বিশ্ব ডুয়ার্সের উৎসবের মাঠে এবার থাকছে সেলফি জোন। এছাড়া এবার বিশ্ব ডুয়ার্স উৎসবের অন্যতম আকর্ষণ হিসেবে থাকছে প্রতিবেশী দেশ ভুটানের মাস্ক ড্যান্স বা মুখোশ নৃত্য। এবার উৎসবে বাংলাদেশের মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের আমন্ত্রণ জানানো হয়েছে। এছাড়া থাকবে ভুটান ও নেপালের প্রতিনিধিরাও।

এবারই প্রথম ডুয়ার্স উৎসবে ডুয়ার্সের খেলাধুলাকে অন্তর্ভুক্তও করা হয়েছে। আলিপুরদুয়ার শহরের প্যারেড গ্রাউন্ডে ২৯শে ডিসেম্বর সূচনা হয় এই উৎসবের, চলবে আগামী ৭ই জানুয়ারি পর্যন্ত।

এ বছর প্রথম বিশ্ব ডুয়ার্স উৎসবে সামিল হচ্ছে ডুয়ার্সের বিভিন্ন এলাকার ক্রীড়া প্রতিযোগিতা। পুরো ডুয়ার্স অঞ্চল থেকে খেলোয়াড়রা তাদের প্রতিভার প্রকাশ দেখাবেন এই উৎসবে। এছাড়া এই মেলাতে চারটি স্টেজ থাকবে। স্টেজ হবে লোকশিল্পীদের জন্য, শিশুদের জন্য থাকবে মঞ্চ, এছাড়া ডুয়ার্স উৎসবের মূল মঞ্চ ছান্যা কুইজ সিম্পোজিয়ামের জন্য থাকবে আলাদা একটি মঞ্চ।

প্রতি বছরের মতো এবছরেও বিভিন্ন জনগোষ্ঠীর মানুষরা তাদের সাংস্কৃতিক নাচ, গান, কবিতা, আবৃত্তি পরিবেশন করবেন।
