Under the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress Government, the agri-business sector is improving by leaps and bounds. Now that Bengal has been more than six years under the current dispensation, opportunities in this sector are more than ever.
A lot of opportunities exist in cold chain infrastructure and food processing laboratories. The State Government has already prepared an agri-horticulture blueprint and identified the areas, especially in infrastructure, which need to be addressed to tap the export potential of various produces. The government has plans to cater to demand-driven supply management for which it is inviting private investment in setting up food processing laboratories.
For the first time, the Agriculture Marketing Department has exported mangoes to Europe and litchis to the Middle-East. Now the department has plans to export fruits to New Zealand, Australia and some other countries.
In the current year, the Horticulture Department has exported to other states vegetables worth more than Rs 500 crore, and has produced about 3 crore tonnes of fruits and vegetables. Cultivation of 150 medicinal plant species has been started. During financial year 2015-16, 1.61 crore tonnes of rice were produced in Bengal.
A policy on design and packaging by the government is also on the anvil. A product sells only when it is packaged properly. Proper packaging also enhances the shelf-life of a product.
The state has exported one lakh metric tonnes of fish this year; the potential for export is three lakh metric tonnes. The production of fish in the state per year is 25,000 tonnes. In the last 3 years, a number of private players have come forward and some projects have already been grounded. The state has ideal conditions for poultry farming.
The Agriculture and Allied Sectors Advisor to the Chief Minister urged private players to contemplate using fish feed effectively in addressing environmental concerns.
তৃণমূল সরকারের আমলে কৃষি বিপণনের সুযোগ বেড়েছে উল্লেখযোগ্য ভাবে
মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের নেতৃত্বে গত ছবছরে এ রাজ্যে কৃষি বিপণন বেড়েছে বহুগুন। এই ছয় বছরে রাজ্যে এই ক্ষেত্রে সুযোগ বেড়েছে প্রচুর।
খাদ্য প্রক্রিয়াকরণ ল্যাবরেটরি ও কোল্ড চেন নির্মাণ পরিকাঠামোয় বিনিয়োগের অনেক সুযোগ আছে। রাজ্য সরকার ইতিমধ্যেই কৃষি-উদ্যানপালনের একটি ব্লুপ্রিন্ট তৈরী করেছে এবং সম্ভাবনার জায়গাগুলো চিহ্নিত করেছে। বিশেষ করে পরিকাঠামোতে জোর দিচ্ছে সরকার, যার ফলে বিভিন্ন পণ্য রপ্তানির সুযোগ আরও বাড়বে। রাজ্য সরকার চাহিদা অনুযায়ী খাদ্য দ্রব্য যোগান দেওয়ার জন্য খাদ্য প্রক্রিয়াকরণ ল্যাবরেটরিগুলিতে বেসরকারি বিনিয়োগ আহ্বান করার পরিকল্পনা করেছে।
এই প্রথম, কৃষি বিপণন দপ্তর ইউরোপে আম ও মধ্য-প্রাচ্যে লিচু রপ্তানি করছে। এবার নিউজিল্যান্ড, অস্ট্রেলিয়া ও অন্য কিছু দেশে ফল রপ্তানি করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে এই দপ্তর।
এই বছর উদ্যানপালন দপ্তর অন্যান্য রাজ্যে ৫০০ কোটি টাকার আনাজ রপ্তানি করেছে। পাশাপাশি ৩ কোটি টন ফল ও আনাজ উৎপাদন করেছে। ১৫০টি ভেষজ উদ্ভিদের চাষ শুরু হয়েছে। ২০১৫-১৬ সালে ১.৬১ কোটি টন ধান উৎপাদন হয়েছে বাংলায়।
রাজ্য সরকার খুব শীঘ্রই একটি ডিজাইন ও প্যাকেজিং নীতি আনতে চলেছে। একটি দ্রব্য তখনই বিক্রি হয়, যখন সেটি ঠিক ভাবে প্যাকিং করা হয়। ভালো প্যাকেজিং করলে দ্রব্যটি অনেকদিন তাজাও থাকে। সেই কারণে এই নীতি খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।
এবছর ১ লক্ষ টন মাছ রপ্তানি করেছে রাজ্য। প্রতি বছর রাজ্যে মাছের উৎপাদন ২৫০০০ টন। গত তিন বছরে অনেক বেসরকারি উদ্যোগপতি এগিয়ে এসেছে, অনেক প্রকল্প শুরু হয়েছে। রাজ্যে পোলট্রি ফার্মিংএরও বিপুল সুযোগ আছে।
