Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today chaired an administrative review meeting at Nabanna to take stock of the ongoing projects in the State.

She addressed the press after the meeting.

 

Highlights of her speech:

  • The Centre owes us Rs 13714.32 crore.
  • Thanks to ‘Safe Drive, Save Life’ project, in the past one year, the number of road accidents in the State has come down by 16%. There has been a 13% reduction in the number of fatalities due to road accidents and a 12.5% decrease in injuries due to accidents.
  • The Supreme Court has praised our ‘Safe Drive, Save Life’ project. We will carry out more awareness programmes for road safety during foggy weather.
  • Committees, to be headed by District Magistrates, will be formed in every district to monitor all the work.
  • Every department has been asked to return the excess/unused funds by December 15, 2017. 25% of this money will be used for funding construction of rural roads and drinking water supply in districts.
  • Every department will have e-office from January 2, 2018. This will bring in greater transparency, accountability and credibility. We are always focussed on e-governance and digitisation. We have received national award for e-governance.
  • We have started e-tendering. The scholarship for Kanyashree and Sikshashree schemes is sent directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries. Others only give lectures while our actions speak louder than words.
  • We have not received any assistance from the Centre for flood relief. We are giving compensation to the tune of Rs 185 crore to farmers. We have allotted Rs 280 crore for providing pension to 2.5 lakh people.
  • We are preparing a plan of action for 5 years. We will also prepare a short-term plan for 10 years, mid-term plan for 15 years and long-term plan for 20 years.

 

 

কেন্দ্রের কাছে ১৩ হাজার কোটি টাকা পায় বাংলা: মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

 

আজ নবান্নে প্রশাসনিক বৈঠক করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।এদিনের বৈঠকে সব দপ্তরের নিয়ে আলোচনা হয়। বৈঠকের পর সাংবাদিকের মুখোমুখি হন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

 

তাঁর বক্তব্যের কিছু বিষয়ঃ

  • মোট ১৩৭১৪.৩২ কোটি টাকা কেন্দ্রের কাছে আমাদের পাওনা।
  • ১ বছরে সেফ ড্রাইভ সেভ লাইফ প্রকল্পের পর পথ দুর্ঘটনার হার কমেছে ১৬%, মৃত্যুর হার কমেছে ১৩%, injury কমেছে ১২.৫%। এর জন্য সুপ্রিম কোর্টের কাছ থেকে প্রশংসা পেয়েছে রাজ্য।
  • জেলাস্তরে জেলা শাসকের নেতৃত্বে নতুন কমিটি তৈরি হয়েছে প্রথম থেকে সবদিকে নজর রাখার জন্য।
  • কোন দপ্তরের উন্নয়নে বরাদ্দ টাকা বাড়তি হলে সেই উদ্বৃত্ত টাকার ২৫% ব্যবহার করা হবে গ্রামীণ রাস্তা তৈরিতে এবং পুরুলিয়া সহ যেসব জায়গায় জলের সমস্যা আছে সেখানে।
  • আগামী ২ জানুয়ারি থেকে সব দপ্তরে ই-অফিস চালু হবে। এর ফলে কাজে স্বচ্ছতা আসবে।
  • ই- গভর্নেন্স এ প্রথম পুরস্কার পেয়েছে কৃষি, অর্থ, দক্ষতা ও MSME দপ্তর। কন্যাশ্রী প্রকল্প বিশ্বের দরবারে প্রশংসিত হয়েছে। আমরা ই-টেন্ডারিং শুরু করেছি।
  • ওরা মুখে বড় বড় কথা বলে, কিন্তু ডিজিটাইজেশন আমরা কাজে করে দেখিয়েছি। সব স্কলারশিপের টাকা ব্যাঙ্ক অ্যাকাউন্টে যায়।
  • বন্যায় ক্ষতিগ্রস্তদের ১৮৫ কোটি টাকা দিচ্ছে রাজ্য দপ্তর।

For the first time, Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) is going to open a day-care school for girls.

The primary reason for opening this school is to take better care of the children from low-income families, where both the parents have to go out to work every day, and who make up the greater number of children attending the KMC-run schools.

The school is being built on Kashiswar Chatterjee Lane in Cossipore, which falls within ward number 1. It will start at 8 AM and get over at 5 PM. Besides studies, the school will also take care that the children get adequate time to play, get meals, etc.

KMC has plans to start similar schools in south and central Kolkata, Behala, Jadavpur and other areas.

মেয়েদের জন্য এই প্রথম ডে-কেয়ার স্কুল খুলছে পুরসভা

মেয়েদের জন্য এই প্রথম একটি ডে কেয়ার স্কুল খুলছে কলকাতা পুরসভা। প্রতিদিন এই স্কুল খুলবে সকাল ৮টায়। অভিভাবকরা প্রথম শ্রেণী থেকে পঞ্চম শ্রেণী পর্যন্ত ছাত্রীদের সকালেই স্কুলে পাঠাতে পারবেন। ছুটি হবে বিকেল ৫টায়।

এই সময়ের মধ্যে পড়াশুনো তো বটেই, সেইসঙ্গে খাওয়া-দাওয়া, খেলাধুলো ইত্যাদি শিশুর বিকাশের জন্য যা যা প্রয়োজন, তার সব ব্যবস্থাই থাকবে। কলকাতা পুরসভার ১ নম্বর ওয়ার্ডের ৪/১এ, কাশীশ্বর চ্যাটার্জি লেনে পুরসভার এই বিদ্যালয়টি গড়ে উঠছে। এলাকা চিহ্নিত করে পাঁচিল দেওয়ার কাজ শেষ হয়েছে। শীঘ্রই শুরু হবে বিদ্যালয়ের ভবন তৈরির কাজ।

পুরসভার বিদ্যালয়গুলিতে সাধারণত শহরের অর্থনৈতিকভাবে পিছিয়ে পড়া পরিবারের ছেলেমেয়েরা পড়তে আসে। তাদের অনেকের ক্ষেত্রেই দেখা যায়, সকাল থেকে বাবা-মা রুজির টানে বেরিয়ে পড়েছেন। ফলে সেই সময়টায় শিশুর দেখভালের কেউ থাকে না। সুযোগ দিতে পারলে এরকম অনেক স্কুলবিমুখ শিশুকে পড়াশুনোয় আগ্রহী করে তোলা যেতে পারে।

পুরসভার এই উদ্যোগ যদি সাফল্য পায়, তাহলে দক্ষিণ কলকাতা, মধ্য কলকাতা এবং বেহালা, যাদবপুরের মতো সংযুক্ত পুর-এলাকাতেও এই ধরনের ডে কেয়ার স্কুল গড়ার কথা ভাববে পুরসভা।

Elephant safaris are common in north Bengal. Now they are going to start in south Bengal too.

The safaris on elephant-back are going to be organised for tourists visiting Joypur in Bankura district for the five-day ‘Elephant Corridor’ Joypur Mela, from December 15. The name refers to the fact that the forest there is a major corridor, or path of migration, for wild elephants. Besides wild elephants, the pristine forest around Joypur is home to deer, peacocks and bears, to see all of which is the safari programme being held.

The fair is just two years old, but is steadily becoming a major tourist attraction. The idea behind the fair is to make people aware of the history, tradition, and art and culture of the region, lying bang in the middle of a major elephant corridor.

The Forest Department is organising these safaris, for which 10 elephants are being trained under the guidance of experienced mahouts.

 

দক্ষিণবঙ্গে প্রথম হাতি সাফারি

আগামী ১৫ই ডিসেম্বর থেকে ৫দিন ব্যাপী জয়পুর মেলা উপলক্ষে আগত অতিথিদের হাতির পিঠে চাপিয়ে জঙ্গল ঘোরানো হবে। উত্তরবঙ্গে এ’রকম ব্যবস্থা থাকলেও দক্ষিণবঙ্গে হাতির পিঠে জঙ্গল সাফারি এই প্রথম।

জয়পুর জঙ্গলের মধ্যে অভিজ্ঞ মাহুতদের সঙ্গে ঘুরে বেড়িয়ে সাফারির মহড়াও শুরু করেছে ১০টি কুনকি হাতির দল। আগত অতিথিরা যাতে জঙ্গলে হরিণ, ময়ূর, ভাল্লুক ও জংলি হাতি দেখার সুযোগ পায়, তার তোড়জোড়ও শুরু হয়েছে। ‘এলিফ্যান্ট করিডোর’ জয়পুর মেলার বয়স মাত্র ২বছর।

এলিফ্যান্ট করিডোরের ওপর এই জনপদ ও জঙ্গলের ইতিহাস, ঐতিহ্য, শিল্প সংস্কৃতিকে তুলে ধরার মাধ্যমে এই মেলাকে রাজ্যের পর্যটন মাঞ্চিত্রে তুলে ধরার লক্ষ্যে এগিয়ে চলেছেন এলাকার বিধায়ক তথা রাজ্যের মন্ত্রী। প্রথম বছর থেকেই এই মেলা সফলতা লাভ করেছে।

Three universities to be set up in Bengal

Three Bills were passed this week in the Bengal Assembly for the creation of three universities – The West Bengal Green University Bill, The Purba Medinipur University Bill and The Jhargram University Bill. All three universities would be State Government-funded.

West Bengal Green University would be set up in Hooghly district. It would be a centre of excellence for studies and research in subjects related to environment, surface management, bio-diversity, etc. Both graduate and postgraduate courses would be conducted here. The courses would be job-oriented. All types of pollution – land, water, surface and noise – would be studied here. This would be the first state university here.

The Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress Government has taken several steps for facilitating the holistic development of the education sector. Seventeen universities have already been set up over the last six years, five more are in process, as a result of which many more students have been able to go for higher education.

বাংলা পাবে আরও তিনটি নতুন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ বিধানসভায় পাস হল রাজ্যে তিনটি নতুন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় গড়ার জন্য প্ৰয়োজনীয় বিল। এই নতুন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় হল, ওয়েস্ট বেঙ্গল গ্রিন ইউনিভার্সিটি, ঝাড়গ্রাম ইউনিভার্সিটি, ও পূর্ব মেদিনীপুর ইউনিভার্সিটি। তিনটি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ই হবে সরকারি।

হুগলীতে তৈরি হতে চলা ওয়েস্ট বেঙ্গল গ্রিন ইউনিভার্সিটিতে বিভিন্ন শাখায় পড়াশোনা ও গবেষণার সুযোগ থাকবে। এই বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়টি হবে একটি সেন্টার ও এক্সসেলেন্স। এখানে স্নাতক ও স্নাতকোত্তর স্তরে পড়াশোনা করা যাবে। হুগলী জেলার প্রথম সরকারি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এটি।

পাশাপাশি নব নির্মিত জেলা ঝাড়গ্রাম ও পূর্ব মেদিনীপুর জেলাও পেতে চলেছে নতুন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়। এছাড়াও, সিস্টার নিবেদিতার নামে একটি বেসরকারি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ও গড়ে উঠছে রাজ্যে।

শিক্ষাব্যবস্থার উন্নয়নে ক্ষমতায় আসার পর থেকেই উদ্যোগী মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। গত ছয় বছরে ১৭টি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় তৈরী হয়েছে রাজ্যে; আরও ৫টি নির্মাণের পথে। নতুন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় তৈরী হলে রাজ্যের আগামী প্রজন্ম উপকৃত হবে বিপুলভাবে।

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has recently announced that the State Government has decided to digitise the books and records that are there in the library located inside the Assembly building. The new e-library will be located at the Platinum Jubilee Memorial Building inside the Assembly premises, during whose foundation-stone laying she made the announcement. The building will also house a museum, an auditorium and a conference hall.

There are there are more than two lakh books in the existing library, for whose preservation digitisation is essential. The State Education Department will extend support in this connection. Further, after digitisation, the electronic archive would be opened to the public. Researchers from all over the world visit the library in the Assembly to study various books and documents.

Besides digitisation, the Chief Minister announced several other measures. One of this is to make available documents and books from the Assembly library to those who order for them in a much shorter time. For this purpose, staff strength is likely to be increased.

She also said that the documents in Bengali would be translated into English, for which the help of the British Council and Cambridge University might be sought.

Again, tie-ups with Bangladesh can be done as part of an academic exchange since the histories of Bengal and Bangladesh are inextricably linked.

ই-লাইব্রেরীর মাধ্যমে বিধানসভার সমস্ত তথ্যই মানুষের সামনে তুলে ধরতে হবেঃ মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ বিধানসভার ২ লক্ষ বই ও নানা দলিলের ডিজিটাইজেশন করা হবে। একইসঙ্গে দেশবাসীর পাশাপাশি বিদেশীরাও যাতে এইসব তথ্যের মাধ্যমে সমৃদ্ধ হতে পারেন, সেই চেষ্টা করা হবে। বিধানসভায় প্ল্যাটিনাম জয়ন্তী স্মারক ভবনের শিলান্যাস করার পর বলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। ট্রান্সপারেন্সি, অ্যাকাউন্টেবিলিটি, ক্রেডিবিলিটি বজায় রেখে তা সাধারন মানুষের সামনে তুলে ধরা উচিত।

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারই প্রথম নেতাজী সুভাষ সংক্রান্ত সমস্ত ফাইল জনসমক্ষে আনা হয়। বিধানসভাতেও গনতন্ত্রের ধারা বজায় রাখতে হবে। বিধানসভা গনতন্ত্রের মন্দির, মসজিদ, গুরুদ্বার, গির্জা। কলকাতা ও রাজ্য পুলিশের লাইব্রেরী আছে, যা আরও উন্নত করা হবে। বিধানসভার লাইব্রেরীতে যে সতীদাহ প্রথা বিল রাখা আছে তা দেশের সংসদও গ্রহণ করেছে। এগুলিকে ই-লাইব্রেরীর মাধ্যমে তুলে ধরতে চান মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, এই বিল্ডিং হলে লাইব্রেরীর পরিধিও বাড়বে।

সম্প্রতি লন্ডনে সিস্টার নিবেদিতার বাড়ি হেরিটেজ ঘোষণার সময় আমন্ত্রণ রক্ষা করতে গিয়ে ব্রিটিশ কাউন্সিলর ডিরেক্টরেটের কাছ থেকে তিনি জানতে পেরেছেন ১ লক্ষ বাংলা বই তারা ইংরাজিতে অনুবাদ করেছেন।

ই-লাইব্রেরী তৈরীতে উচ্চশিক্ষা দপ্তরও সহায়তা করতে পারে। এমনকি বিধানসভার সঙ্গেও বিভিন্ন দেশের বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের চুক্তিও করা যেতে পারে। সমস্ত নথির ইংরেজি অনুবাদ করলে তা আন্তর্জাতিক স্তরে সকলেই বুঝতে পারবেন। এজন্য প্রয়োজনে বিধানসভার কর্মী বাড়াতে হবে। বাংলাদেশের সরকার বা ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সঙ্গে চুক্তি করেও তথ্যের আদান প্রদান করা যেতে পারে। বাংলা ভাষা বিশ্বে পঞ্চম ও এশিয়াতে দ্বিতীয় বৃহত্তম।

বিধানসভায় যে বিল্ডিংটি তৈরী হচ্ছে সেখানে থাকবে লাইব্রেরী, অডিটোরিয়াম।

The State Government has decided to build a park in line with those seen in many well-known tourist places at Diamond Harbour in South 24 Parganas district.

The park will stretch along the bank of the Hooghly River, and will be a stretch of refreshing green.

The park will have steps going down to the river along the entire stretch of the park, with adequate safety measures like security personnel to keep watch. There will be two separate parks for children within the park.

Trees of various species will cover the whole area, including a row of palms. Manicured gardens will be set up at places. There will also be sculptures to beautify the park.

A large lake will be dug up in the middle of the park. There will be two entrance-cum-exits, connected to paths crisscrossing the entire park. Special viewpoints and benches for sitting will be constructed.

Four special picnic zones are part of the blueprint, so that the whole park does not become strewn with plates and other refuse. Last but not the least, there will be toilets located at convenient points inside the park.

বিদেশের আদলে ডায়মন্ডহারবারে গড়ে উঠবে পার্ক, পিকনিক এরিনা

 

শীতের গোড়াতেই পর্যটক ও পিকনিক পার্টিদের জন্য সুখবর। একেবারে বিদেশি বিনোদন পার্কের আদলে এবার ডায়মন্ডহারবারে শ্রীহীন গঙ্গার ধার ও সংলগ্ন এলাকাকে একেবারে আধুনিক ছাঁচে ঢেলে সাজানো হবে।

প্রায় দু’কিমি এলাকা জুড়ে গঙ্গাতটে ফুল ও ফলের গাছগাছালির মধ্যে হাঁটার রাস্তার পাশাপাশি বসার জায়গা ছাড়াও পিকনিক স্পটের ব্যবস্থা থাকবে। যাতে অতিথিরা শহরে ঢোকার পর সেখানে দু’দণ্ড বসে নদীর স্পর্শ পেয়ে চোখ ও মনের তৃপ্তি পেতে পারেন। সকল বয়সিদের মনোরঞ্জনের কথা ভেবে সেই অনুসারে পরিকাঠামো তৈরি করা হবে। বিশেষত শিশুদের বিনোদনের জন্য রোপওয়ে করারও পরিকল্পনাও নেওয়া হয়েছে।

পরিকল্পনা অনুযায়ী, ডায়মন্ডহারবার মহকুমা আধিকারিকের অফিসের ঠিক উল্টো দিকে নদীর ধার ধরে সৌন্দর্যায়নের কাজ শুরু হবে। তা শেষ হবে কেল্লার মাঠে গিয়ে। নদীর ধার ঘেঁষে পুরো অংশ কংক্রিটের ঢালাই করা হবে। সেখানে নদীর জল পর্যন্ত পর পর সিঁড়ি থাকবে। যাতে কেউ মনে করলে নদীর একেবারে কাছে চলে যেতে পারেন। কেউ চাইলে সেখানে বসতেও পারেন। কোথাও কোথাও নদীর উপর কিছুটা বাড়িয়ে ঝুলবারান্দার মতো করে দেওয়া হবে। সেখানে আলাদা করে বসার জায়গা থাকবে। পার্কের ভিতর দিয়ে হাঁটার আলাদা রাস্তা করে দেওয়া হবে। পার্কে থাকবে শৌচাগার, পানীয় জলের ব্যবস্থা এবং স্নানার্থীদের জন্য পোশাক পালটানোর ঘরও। খাওয়ার জন্য বাইরে যেতে হবে না। ভিতরেই থাকবে মোবাইল ফুড স্টল।

বাচ্চাদের জন্য আলাদা করে খেলার জায়গা করা হচ্ছে। এর সঙ্গে যুক্ত করা হচ্ছে কেল্লার মাঠকে। পুরো জায়গাকে পিকনিক করার উপযোগী করে তৈরি গড়ে তোলা হবে। সব মিলিয়ে পাঁচটি পিকনিক এরিনা করা হবে। এছাড়া বোটিংয়ের জন্য ব্যবস্থা হবে। পাশাপাশি একটি রোপওয়ে তৈরি করা হবে। ডায়মন্ডহারবার ব্যায়ামাগারের থেকে কেল্লার মাঠ পর্যন্ত রোপওয়েটি করা হবে।

সব মিলিয়ে, ডায়মন্ডহারবারকে সাজিয়ে তোলার এই উদ্যোগ এলাকার পর্যটনের বিকাশ ঘটাবে বলেই আশা করা যায়।

A new avenue for investment in Bengal is going to open up soon, with the ambassador of South Korea to India meeting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on November 27, on the sidelines of the Horasis Asia Summit held in Kolkata.

After the meeting, the ambassador said that South Korea is appreciative of the fact that the Chief Minister has shown a lot of interest in strengthening the economic engagement between Bengal and his country. She also agreed to provide all possible help in setting up industries in the state.

Mamata Banerjee has invited investment in manufacturing and tourism, as well as showed a keen interest in cultural exchanges.

The ambassador said that Bengal was chosen because of the fact that the state has a vibrant market. Secondly, the state serves as a gateway to countries like Bhutan and Thailand. On top of these, Bengal has a glorious tradition in many fields.

Another welcome news is that KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency), the South Korean Government’s trade and investment promotion organisation, is opening an office in Kolkata in December, to help in the coordination of trade and investment opportunities and partnerships between the governments and industries of South Korea and Bengal.

Recently, for the first time in Kolkata, the Government of South Korea organised the Korean Caravan, a unique forum where representatives of Korean companies got the opportunity to interact with officials of industrial houses in Bengal. Officials of West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) were also present there.

দক্ষিণ কোরিয়া বিনিয়োগ করবে রাজ্যে

 

কলকাতায় অনুষ্ঠিত হোরাসিস সম্মেলন থেকে প্রাপ্তি হিসেবে এল বিনিয়োগের বার্তা। দক্ষিণ কোরিয়ার রাষ্ট্রদূত মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের সঙ্গে বৈঠক করে একথা জানান।

ওই সম্মেলনে রাজ্য থেকে যে প্রতিনিধি দল অংশ নিয়েছিল, সরকারি বেসরকারি ক্ষেত্র থেকে, তারা এ রাজ্যে বিনিয়োগে প্রবল সম্ভাবনার কথা তুলে ধরেন। এছাড়াও সরকারের উৎসাহের ফলে এখানে সফল কি কি শিল্প তৈরি হয়েছে, তাও তুলে ধরা হয়।

দক্ষিণ কোরিয়ার রাষ্ট্রদূত বলেন, মুখ্যমন্ত্রী এ রাজ্যের সঙ্গে তার দেশের অর্থনৈতিক যোগাযোগ তৈরীতে যে পরিমাণ আগ্রহ দেখিয়েছেন, তাতে তিনি অভীভুত। এছাড়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী আশ্বাস দিয়েছেন রাজ্য সরকার সব রকম সহায়তা করবে এ রাজ্যে শিল্প করতে চাইলে।

মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় নির্মাণ শিল্প ও পর্যটনের পাশাপাশি সাংস্কৃতিক আদানপ্রদানেও খুব উৎসাহ দেখিয়েছেন।

রাষ্ট্রদূত বলেন তারা বাংলাকে বেছে নিয়েছেন কারণ, এখানের বাজার খুব আকর্ষণীয়। এছাড়া এরাজ্যকে ভুটান বা থাইল্যান্ডের মতো দেশগুলির গেটওয়ে বলা যায়। এছাড়া বাংলার ঐতিহ্যবাহী ইতিহাস আছে নানা ক্ষেত্রে।

এছাড়াও, ডিসেম্বর মাসে দক্ষিণ কোরিয়ার সরকারের বাণিজ্য ও বিনিয়োগের প্রোমোশান সংস্থা কলকাতায় তাদের অফিস খুলছে। এই দপ্তরটি দক্ষিণ কোরিয়ার ও বাংলার, সরকার ও শিল্পকে নানারকম সাহায্য করবে।

এই প্রথম দক্ষিণ কোরিয়ার সরকার কলকাতায় আয়োজন করে করিয়ান কারাভান-এর। এটি একটি আলোচনার জায়গা যেখানে কোরিয়ান কোম্পানিগুলির প্রতিনিধিরা রাজ্যের শিল্পের আধিকারিকদের সঙ্গে আলোচনার সুযোগ পাবে। ওয়েস্ট বেঙ্গল ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়াল ডেভেলপমেন্ট কর্পোরেশনের আধিকারিকরা ও ফেডারেশন অফ ইন্ডিয়ান চেম্বার অফ কমার্স-এর আধিকারিকরাও উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

The traditional handicrafts and cottage industry of Bengal are quite well-known, even outside India.

Over the last six years, the Trinamool Congress Government has made extensive efforts to promote these arts and crafts, both inside and outside the country, through trade fairs, craft hubs, online marketing and selling, etc.

The latest craft hub – for objects made of shells (shankha), shola (pith of the shola plant) and jewellery box – is coming up in Ashoknagar in North 24 Parganas district. It is coming up an area of 5 acres, and is being set up by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Department of the Bengal Government.

The area for the hub has been identified and work is on in full swing. It would be inaugurated within the next few months.

Shankha and shola objects are required for many pujas, and are in high demand especially during the Durga Puja season. Almost every idol-maker in and around Kolkata, the nerve centre of the Durga Puja market, acquire shola jewellery for adorning the idols.

Jewellery boxes made in and around Ashoknagar by rural artisans has demand even in West Asia, besides of course in the domestic markets. But demand is not commensurate with supply.

To ensure proper supply and to enable artisans to earn a respectable living from practicing their age-old crafts, the State Government has thought of this hub.

শঙ্খ, শোলা ও গয়নার বাক্স তৈরীর হাব হবে অশোকনগরে

 

পশ্চিমবঙ্গের চিরাচরিত হস্তশিল্প ও কুটির শিল্প শুধু দেশ বা রাজ্য না, সারা বিশ্বে জনপ্রিয়। গত ছয় বছরে এই হস্তশিল্পকে দেশ ও বিদেশে তুলে ধরতে তৃণমূল সরকার প্রচুর পদক্ষেপ নিয়েছে। আয়োজন করেছে শিল্প মেলা, তৈরী করেছে হস্তশিল্প হাব, ব্যবস্থা করেছে অনলাইন বিপণনের।

এই উদ্যোগে সাম্প্রতিকতম সংযোজন শঙ্খ ও শোলা দিয়ে তৈরি বিভিন্ন জিনিস ও গয়নার বাক্সর হাব, যা গড়া হবে উত্তর ২৪ পরগনার অশোকনগরে। এই হাবটি হবে ৫ একর জমির ওপর। এই হাবটি তৈরী করছে রাজ্য সরকারের ক্ষুদ্র, কুটির ও মাঝারি শিল্প দপ্তর।

এই হাবের জমি চিহ্নিত হয়েছে ও পুরোদমে কাজ চলছে। আগামী কয়েক মাসের মধ্যে এটির উদ্বোধন হবে।

বিভিন্ন পুজোতে শঙ্খ ও শোলা দিয়ে তৈরি বিভিন্ন জিনিসের চাহিদা থাকে, বিশেষ করে দুর্গা পুজোর সময়। কলকাতা ও পার্শ্ববর্তী অঞ্চলের সমস্ত কুমোর শোলার তৈরি গয়না ও অন্যান্য জিনিস জোগাড় করে থাকেন। অশোকনগর ও পাশাপাশি অঞ্চলে যে গয়নার বাক্স তৈরি হয় তার চাহিদা বিপুল, শুধু রাজ্যে বা দেশে নয়, পশ্চিম এশিয়াতেও।

হস্তশিল্পীদের জীবন স্বচ্ছল করে তোলার লক্ষ্যে রাজ্য সরকারের এই হাব তৈরীর সিদ্ধান্ত।

Within a few years, Kolkata will become one of the biggest financial hubs in India, according to Bengal Finance and Commerce & Industries Minister, Dr Amit Mitra.

While talking to reporters at an international trade fair in New Delhi, he said that 27 banks are taking land in Bengal to create a financial hub. The State Bank of India is constructing its largest training centre on 11 acres, adjacent to the hub. Not only that, HSBC back office is in Kolkata today.

Bengal’s core competence of human capital is gradually becoming known to industry in India, resulting in more and more major investments coming to the state. Dr Mitra said that the industrialists now feel that Bengal is the state to invest in.

He said that the financial cluster that is coming up in Kolkata for various activities like banking, insurance, mutual funds, spread over more than 100 acres, is a unique example of how Bengal is progressing.

He also said that 81 lakh people in the state have been provided jobs since the Trinamool Congress came to power in 2011.

As far as the ease of doing business is concerned, Bengal has climbed up remarkably from 15th to 3rd, and is on its way to the top, stated the minister.

ভবিষ্যতে ভারতের অন্যতম শীর্ষ ফিনান্সিয়াল হাব হয়ে উঠবে কলকাতা। এমনটাই বললেন রাজ্যের শিল্প ও অর্থমন্ত্রী অমিত মিত্র।

দিল্লীতে অনুষ্ঠিত আন্তর্জাতিক বাণিজ্য মেলা ২০১৭তে সাংবাদিকদের মুখোমুখি হয়ে তিনি বলেন, ২৭ টি ব্যাঙ্ক ইতিমধ্যেই রাজারহাটে গড়ে ওঠা ফিনান্সিয়াল হাবে জমি চেয়েছে। এর অদূরেই ১১ একর জমির ওপর স্টেট ব্যাঙ্ক অফ ইন্ডিয়া তাদের সবথেকে বড় প্রশিক্ষণ কেন্দ্র খুলছে। এছাড়া এইচএসবিসির ব্যাক অফিসও এই মুহূর্তে কলকাতায় রয়েছে।

বাংলার মানব সম্পদ ও দক্ষতা সারা বিশ্বে স্বীকৃত। এর ফলে শিল্পপতিরা বুঝেছেন বাংলায় বিনিয়োগ করা উচিত।

অমিত মিত্র বলেন, এই ১০০ একর জমির ওপর যে ফিনান্সিয়াল ক্লাস্টারটি তৈরী হচ্ছে সেখানে ব্যাঙ্কিং, ইনস্যুরেন্স, মিউচুয়াল ফান্ড প্রভৃতি ক্ষেত্রে কাজ হবে। এর থেকেই বোঝা যায় বাংলা এখন অগ্রগতির পথে।

অর্থমন্ত্রী আরও বলেন, তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস ক্ষমতায় আসার পর গত ছয় বছরে ৮১ লক্ষ কর্মসংস্থান হয়েছে। শিল্প গড়ার সুবিধের মাপকাঠিতে ১৫নম্বর স্থান থেকে সরাসরি তিন নম্বরে উঠে এসেছে, যা অত্যন্ত আশাব্যঞ্জক।

New Town is getting a new pollution-free public transport service – mobile app-based hired bicycles. The service will be launched on Christmas Day (December 25) by Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) in collaboration with a private organisation.

This is the first time in Bengal that a State Government organisation will be running such a service. Environmentalists have welcomes this decision to introduce a green transport service.

Bicycle stands will be set up at 10 important spots in New Town, like Rabindra Tirtha, Akansha More, Narkelbagan More, Eco Park and others. Each bicycle will have a number. On the app, the hirer has to key in the starting point and the destination. The charge also has to be paid through the app, which is Rs 10 per kilometre.

As soon as a bicycle is booked, a message will come on the person’s mobile phone containing the number of the bicycle. After the vehicle is parked at the destination stand, it will automatically lock. The bicycles have to be drives on the specified bicycle lanes in New Town. Helmets have to be worn for safety, which would be provided to the riders.

Initially, 150 bicycles will be launched. The number will be increased in stages, depending on the demand. Two routes would be available initially – from gate number 1 to gate number 4 of Eco Park and from Technopolis Building to Nazrul Tirtha.

 

অ্যাপ -নির্ভর সাইকেল চালু হচ্ছে নিউ টাউনে

 

দূষণমুক্ত রেখে পরিবহণ ব্যবস্থাকে আরও একধাপ এগিয়ে নিয়ে যেতে এ বার হিডকো একটি বেসরকারি সংস্থার সহযোগিতায় অ্যাপ নির্ভর সাইকেল চালু হতে চলেছে নিউ টাউনে৷ আগামী ২৫ ডিসেম্বর থেকে উপনগরীতে এই ব্যবস্থা চালু হয়ে যাবে। রাজ্যে নিউ টাউনেই সরকারি সংস্থার উদ্যোগে প্রথম এই ধরনের সাইকেল পরিষেবা চালু হচ্ছে বলে দাবি এক অধিকর্তার৷ এই উদ্যোগের প্রশংসা করেছেন পরিবেশবিদরাও।

ঠিক হয়েছে রবীন্দ্রতীর্থ, আকাঙ্ক্ষা মোড় , নারকেলবাগান মোড় , ইকো পার্ক-সহ ১০টি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ জায়গায় সাইকেল স্ট্যান্ড গড়ে তোলা হবে৷ সেখানে থাকবে সাইকেল৷ মোবাইলে অ্যাপ ডাউনলোড করতে হবে৷ অ্যাপের মাধ্যমে সাইকেল বুক করা যাবে৷ দিতে হবে বুকিংয়ের জায়গা ও গন্তব্যের নাম৷ টাকাও মেটানো যাবে অনলাইনে৷ বুক হয়ে গেলেই সংশ্লিষ্ট সাইকেলের নম্বর যাত্রীর কাছে মেসেজ মারফত পৌঁছে যাবে৷ খুলে যাবে সাইকেলের লক৷ এর পরে সেই সাইকেলে যাত্রী গন্তব্যে পৌঁছলে নিজে থেকে সাইকেলটি লক হয়ে যাবে৷ প্রতি কিলোমিটারের জন্য ১০ টাকা ভাড়া বরাদ্দ করা হয়েছে৷

হিডকো জানাচ্ছে , প্রথম ধাপে ১৫০টি সাইকেল নামানো হলেও , ধাপে ধাপে এই সাইকেল সমগ্র নিউ টাউনেই চালানোর পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে৷ ইতিমধ্যেই নয়া উপনগরীতে সাইকেল চালানোর জন্য পৃথক লেন তৈরি করেছে হিডকো৷ ওই লেন দিয়েই চালাতে হবে সাইকেল৷ নিরাপত্তার স্বার্থে মাথায় পরতে হবে হেলমেট৷ তা দেওয়া হবে সংস্থার পক্ষ থেকেই৷ আপাতত ইকো পার্কের ১ থেকে ৪ নম্বর গেট এবং টেকনোপলিস থেকে নজরুল তীর্থ এই পরিষেবা মিলবে৷
