It’s not only the inspiring thoughts of the English legacy that dominate the cultural bond between the two countries — India and England — but a representation of those ideas of similarity that is visible in the innumerable architectural structures that are present in Kolkata, set up during the British Raj and later.

Highlighting this similarity and describing London and Kolkata, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said: “London and Kolkata are essentially twin cities. We have cultural closeness and the same types of structures that we see in London are also to be found in Kolkata. Not only this, we also share a strong bonding in the field of education too.”

Addressing a gathering at the library conference hall here on Sunday afternoon, she recalled Sister Nivedita’s contribution to India and added: “She was dedicated to the cause of India.” She also spoke about Nivedita’s role in serving the poor and needy during the plague that broke out as an epidemic in Bagbazar where she used to live in 1899. “We have a college named after her. We have acquired the houses where she died in Darjeeling and where she started her school in 1898,” she said adding: “In daily life, we always remember Sri Ramakrishna, Maa Sharda, Swami Vivekananda and Sister Nivedita before starting any work.”

She handed over two motifs of Swami Vivekananda and Sister Nivedita to the Mayor. Earlier, the much-awaited Blue Plaque was unveiled at Sister Nivedita’s house at 21 High Street in Wimbledon where she used to live before she came to India.

The Chief Minister also garlanded a portrait of Sister Nivedita who used to live in this house before leaving for India in 1897. Swami Suhitanandaji, one of the vice-presidents of Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Dinesh Patnaik, acting Indian High Commissioner to UK, Amit Mitra, state Finance minister, Malay De, state Chief Secretary and Lord Swraj Paul along with a host of industrialists were present at the event.

The Blue Plaque read “Sister Nivedita (Margaret Noble) Educationist and Campaigner for Indian Independence lived here.”

Mamata Banerjee walked down to the auditorium on Crompton Street. The portraits of Sri Ramakrishna, Maa Sharda Devi, Swami Vivekananda and Sister Nivedita were kept beside the dais. The function started with an invocation paying homage to Sri Ramakrishna.

লন্ডনে ভগিনী নিবেদিতার বাড়ির ফলক উন্মোচন অনুষ্ঠান যেন এক অন্য ইতিহাসের সাক্ষী হয়ে রইল। যার অন্যতম কান্ডারি পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। আর হবে নাই বা কেন, ভগিনী নিবেদিতা যত না আয়ারল্যান্ডের, যত না ব্রিটেনের, তার থেকে অনেক বেশি তো এই বাংলার। তাই অনুষ্ঠান যতই অনাড়ম্বর হোক না কেন, এর আভিজাত্য ছিল অনেক বেশি। একদিকে নিবেদিতার সার্ধশতবর্ষ উপলক্ষে ‘স্মারক’ পত্রিকার উদ্বোধন করলেন মমতা, অন্যদিকে মঞ্চে দাঁড়িয়ে ডাক দিলেন ব্রিটেনের সঙ্গে নতুন সম্পর্ক গড়ে তোলার।

ইংল্যান্ডের মাটিতে প্রথমবারের জন্য বাংলার মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর হাত ধরেই সরকারিভাবে স্বীকৃতি পেল ভগিনী নিবেদিতার বাড়ি। তাঁর হাই স্ট্রিটের বাড়িতে যে ঐতিহ্যবাহী নীল ফলক স্থাপন করছে ইংলিশ হেরিটেজ, তা উন্মোচিত হল বাংলার মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর হাতে। ভারতীয় সময় রাত ১০টায় শুরু হওয়া অনুষ্ঠানে।

যেখানে রয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী, সেখান থেকে অনুষ্ঠানস্থলের দূরত্ব সাড়ে ৮ মাইলের মতো। প্রায় ৫০ মিনিটের সফর। দুপুরেই মুখ্যমন্ত্রী উইম্বলডনে নিবেদিতার ২১, হাই স্ট্রিটের বাড়ি পৌঁছে যান। স্বামী দয়াত্মানন্দজির মন্ত্রোচ্চারণের পর স্বীকৃতির  প্রতীক ঐতিহ্যবাহী নীল ফলক উন্মোচিত হয় মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর হাত ধরেই। নিবেদিতার বাগবাজার এবং দার্জিলিংয়ের বাড়ি উদ্ধার এবং সুরক্ষায় বাংলার মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর উদ্যোগ প্রশংসা কুড়িয়েছে সব মহলেই।

বাকি অনুষ্ঠানটি সম্পন্ন হয় পার্শ্ববর্তী কম্পটন রোডের মার্টন আর্টস স্পেসে। যা উইম্বলডন লাইব্রেরি নামেই পরিচিত। মিনিট দশেকের এই দূরত্ব হেঁটেই যান মমতা। সেখানে মিউজিয়ামের মেয়র মার্সি স্কেটি, ইংলিশ হেরিটেজের অ্যানা এভিস, ব্রিটেনে নিযুক্ত ভারতের কার্যনির্বাহী হাইকমিশনার অ্যাম্বাসাডর, রামকৃষ্ণ মিশনের সহ-সভাপতির পর বক্তব্য রাখেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের বক্তৃতা শুরুর আগে ফের একবার ব্রিটেনের মঞ্চে প্রশংসিত হয় তাঁর সরকার। বিশ্বের দরবারে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর কন্যাশ্রীর সম্মানিত হওয়ার প্রসঙ্গে ফের একবার উন্নত হয় বাংলার শির।

১০ মিনিটের বক্তৃতার শুরুতেই মমতা ধন্যবাদ জানান এমন একটা অনুষ্ঠানে তাঁকে আমন্ত্রণ জানানোর জন্য। তাঁর কথায় উঠে আসে নিবেদিতার ভারতপ্রেম, মানবপ্রেমের প্রসঙ্গ। পরমহংস রামকৃষ্ণদেব, মা সারদা এবং স্বামী বিবেকানন্দকে ছাড়া যে বাংলা তথা ভারত অচল, সে কথা স্মরণ করিয়ে দেন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। পাশাপাশি উল্লেখ করেন ভিক্টোরিয়া মেমোরিয়ালের মতো কলকাতার নানা প্রান্তে ছড়িয়ে থাকা হেরিটেজ বিল্ডিংয়ের কথা। তাঁর আহ্বান, ‘বাংলায় আসুন। নতুন করে সম্পর্ক গড়ে তুলি।’

বক্তৃতা শেষে উইম্বলডন হিস্ট্রি মিউজিয়ামেই মেয়রের হাতে স্বামী বিবেকানন্দ এবং ভগিনী নিবেদিতার প্রতিকৃতি তুলে দেন।

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was the special guest at the installation ceremony of a Blue Plaque at the house of Sister Nivedita today.

The function on Sunday was organised by English Heritage. Swami Suhitananda, one of the vice-presidents of Ramakrishna Math and Mission, was also be present at the function.

In an extraordinary gesture, Queen Elizabeth II sent her warm wishes to those who were present at the function and described it as a most memorable event.

Margaret Elizabeth Noble, who later came to be known as Sister Nivedita, used to stay in the house in 1898 before she came to Kolkata. Swami Vivekananda had visited the house in 1895. Jagadish Chandra Bose and his wife Abala had stayed in the house for some time in 1900. After the event of the Blue plaque, a cultural function will be held in an auditorium situated very close to the site of installation of the plaque.

Mamata Banerjee reached United Kingdom on Saturday morning. She will meet businessmen in London and then in Scotland and discuss with them the advantages of investing in Bengal. She is also likely to meet NRIs from Bengal. State Finance minister Amit Mitra and Chief Secretary Malay De, too, will be present at the meetings with business professionals.

আজ লন্ডনে নিবেদিতার বাড়িতে স্মৃতিফলক উন্মোচনে উপস্থিত থাকবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। তাঁর জন্মের সার্ধশতবর্ষ উদ্‌যাপন করা হচ্ছে। স্মৃতিফলকে লেখা থাকছে ‘‌ভগিনী নিবেদিতা, শিক্ষাব্রতী এবং ভারতের স্বাধীনতার প্রবক্তা’‌।

ইংলিশ হেরিটেজ সংস্থার উদ্যোগে এই ফলক বসানো হচ্ছে। এই অনুষ্ঠানে রাজ্যের মুখ্যমন্ত্রীকে বিশেষ আমন্ত্রণ জানানো হয়েছে। তাই তিনি লন্ডনে গিয়েছেন। এই অনুষ্ঠানে থাকবেন ভগিনী নিবেদিতার পরিবারের সদস্যরাও।

গতকাল সকালে লন্ডনে পৌঁছন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। সঙ্গে রয়েছেন অর্থমন্ত্রী অমিত মিত্র, বেশ কিছু শিল্পপতি সহ আরও কয়েকজন। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী এর আগে বাংলার স্বার্থে বেশ কয়েকবার বিদেশে গেছেন। তিনি যেখানেই গেছেন, সেখানেই বাংলায় বিনিয়োগের জন্য শিল্পপতিদের আহ্বান জানিয়েছেন।

Today, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the announcement of demonetisation, the Trinamool Congress Government would be organising ‘Black Day’ or ‘Kaala Dibas’ through a series of protest marches from 2 to 3 pm in Kolkata as well as in all the districts.

In Kolkata, the marches would take place in Sealdah, Dharmatala, Hazra, Jadavpur, Behala, Garia and other places.

Also, till December 15, Trinamool will organise mass-contact programmes across the state.

Demonetisation has been a disaster for the country. Lakhs of people, more in the informal sector, lost their jobs, and tragically, more than 120 people were killed while standing in queues outside banks, trying to exchange demonetised currency or withdraw money in the newly-introduced currency.

 

নোট বাতিলের বর্ষপূর্তি-কালা দিবসে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের কর্মসূচী

৮ই নভেম্বর ২০১৬ সালে হঠকারী ভাবে সন্ধ্যাবেলা কেন্দ্রীয় সরকার ঘোষণা করে ৫০০ ও ১০০০ টাকার সমস্ত নোট বাতিল করা হল।কারণ হিসেবে বলা হয়, এই নোট বাতিলের ফলে দেশে আর কোনও কালো টাকা থাকবে না, হবে না কোনও সন্ত্রাসবাদী কার্যকলাপ, দেশ উন্নতির পথে এগিয়ে যাবে।

আজ সেই সিদ্ধান্তের বর্ষপূর্তিতে এসে দেখা যাচ্ছে, রিজার্ভ ব্যাঙ্ক বাতিল হওয়া নোটের ৯৯শতাংশ ফেরত পেয়েছে, কিন্তু, ধরা পরেনি কোনও কালো টাকা। সন্ত্রাসবাদী কার্যকলাপ এখনও পুরোমাত্রায় চলছে। দেশের অর্থনীতি ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে বীভৎস ভাবে। মানুষ কর্মহীন হয়ে পড়েছে প্রচুর পরিমানে। অসংগঠিত ক্ষেত্রের কর্মী, ছোট ব্যাবসায়ী আজ চূড়ান্ত দৈন্যদশায় জীবন নির্বাহ করছে।

২০১৬–র ৮ নভেম্বর নোট বাতিলের এই সিদ্ধান্ত ঘোষণা হওয়ার এক ঘণ্টার মধ্যে প্রথম প্রতিক্রিয়া দিয়ে দেশের মধ্যে প্রথম এর বিরুদ্ধে সরব হয়েছিলেন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।

আজ নোট বাতিলের বর্ষপূর্তিকে দেশের কালা দিবস হিসেবে পালন করবে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস। রাজ্যের প্রতি ব্লকে মিছিল হবে। মিছিলে অংশ নেওয়া প্রতি কর্মী সমর্থক কালো পতাকা হাতে নেবেন। স্লোগান দেবেন যে, নোটবাতিল দেশের সব থেকে বড় দুর্নীতি।

উত্তর কলকাতার মিছিলের নেতৃত্ব দেবেন সাংসদ সুদীপ বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। মিছিল হবে হাজরা, শিয়ালদহ, ধর্মতলা, যাদবপুর, বেহালা, গড়িয়া ও অন্যান্য জায়গায়। কলকাতার দক্ষিনে যে মিছিল হবে, তার নেতৃত্ব দেবেন সুব্রত বক্সী ও পার্থ চট্টোপাধ্যায়। এই মিছিল হবে দুপুর ২টো থেকে ৩টে পর্যন্ত।

এছাড়া, মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর আহ্বানে সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ায় সমস্ত কর্মী সমর্থকরা তাদের ডিসপ্লে ফটো কালো করে রাখবেন আজ।

আগামী ১৫ই ডিসেম্বর পর্যন্ত রাজ্য ব্যাপী জনসংযোগ কর্মসূচী পালন করবে তৃণমূল।

Demonetisation has been proved, over the course of the past one year, to be a complete disaster for the Indian economy. For the economy, getting back on feet has been a herculean task.

Many people lost their lives, and lakhs lost their jobs. Businesses in both the formal and informal sectors have been devastated.

The purported aim of demonetisation, of recovering black money, has been proved to be an empty boast. The Reserved Bank of India (RBI) has stated that 99 per cent of the demonetised Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes, which formed an overwhelming 86 per cent of the paper currency on circulation, has come back into the economy, yet no black money has been traced.

1. Demonetisation failed all four stated objectives: curbing black money, corruption, terrorism and fake currency.

2. 99 per cent of demonetised currency came back to banks; so where did the black money go?

3. India is neither the fastest-growing economy in South Asia nor the fastest growing large economy in the world anymore.

4. International Monetary Fund (IMF) slashed India’s 2017-18 economic growth forecast by 50 basis points to 6.7 per cent.

5. Further, IMF cut India’s growth forecast for the next year, i.e., 2018-19, by 30 basis points to 7.4 per cent.

6. India’s GDP growth slowed down to 5.7 per cent in April-June. It was 7.1 per cent during the same period a year ago.

7. Bank credit growth to large industries contracted by 1.7 per cent and to medium companies by 4.1 per cent this year.

8. Only 448 new industrial and infrastructural projects were announced during the first quarter of 2017-18, the lowest since June 2014.

9. The value of stalled infrastructure projects in the quarter ended September 2017 increased to Rs 13.22 lakh crore. That is the fifth straight quarter of increase.

10. Agricultural growth in April-June 2017 declined to 2.3 per cent from 5.2 per cent in January-March 2017.

11. Gross fixed capital formation, a measure of private investment in the economy, grew by just 1.16 per cent during the April-June quarter compared to 7.39 per cent in the same period in 2016.

12. The Business Confidence Index (BCI) of the services sector fell by 5.3 per cent between April-July 2017.

13. The BCI of the capital goods and consumer non-durables sectors declined by 13.5 per cent and 10.3 per cent, respectively, between April -July 2017

14. Fiscal deficit at July-end touched 92.4 per cent of the budget. The deficit figure for the same period of 2016-17 was 73.7 per cent of the target.

15. Incremental bank credit in the current fiscal year is declining. It is now less by Rs 1.37 lakh crore from last year’s figure during the corresponding period of April to August: it is a negative growth of 1.8 per cent, which is a historical record.

16. In urban India, unemployment was 8.2 per cent in the week ended October 8. This is the highest unemployment rate in urban India in the past 11 months.

17. Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Consumer Confidence Survey showed that the Current Situation Index was in the pessimistic zone, reflecting the deterioration in the employment scenario, price level and income.

18. Households’ current perceptions on the general economic situation remained in the pessimistic zone for four successive quarters.

19. More than 150 people died due to demonetisation.

20. Unemployment increased to 7 per cent in the weeks following demonetisation: 25 crore daily wage workers lost employment.

21. In the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector there was a 50 per cent decline in revenue and 35 per cent of job loss.

22. If demonetisation was a surgical strike, the victim was the Indian economy.

 

নোটবাতিলে বিধ্বংস দেশের অর্থনীতি

কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের স্বৈরাচারী, অমানবিক, অপরিকল্পিত নোটবাতিলের সিদ্ধান্তের বর্ষপূর্তি আজ। এর ফলে বিধ্বস্ত হয়েছে দেশের অর্থনীতি, ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে সাধারন মানুষ। প্রত্যক্ষ ও পরোক্ষ ভাবে প্রাণ হারিয়েছেন শতাধিক দেশবাসী।

কেন্দ্রের দাবি ছিল, কালো টাকা উদ্ধারের জন্যই এই সিদ্ধান্ত, কিন্তু, দেশের অর্থনীতিতে ফিরে এসেছে বাতিল হওয়া নোটের ৯৯ শতাংশ, হদিস মেলেনি কালো টাকার।

২০১৬–র ৮ নভেম্বর নোট বাতিলের এই সিদ্ধান্ত ঘোষণা হওয়ার এক ঘণ্টার মধ্যে প্রথম প্রতিক্রিয়া দিয়ে দেশের মধ্যে প্রথম এর বিরুদ্ধে সরব হয়েছিলেন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।

একঝলকে দেখে নেওয়া যাক দেশের অর্থনীতি কি ভাবে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছেঃ-

১. কালো টাকা দমনে, দুর্নীতি রুখতে, সন্ত্রাসবাদ ও জালনোট ঠেকাতে নোট বাতিলের সিদ্ধান্ত পুরোপুরি ব্যর্থ।

২. বাতিল নোটের ৯৯% ব্যাঙ্কে ফিরে এসেছে, তাহলে কালো টাকা কোথায় গেল?

৩. ভারতবর্ষ এই মুহূর্তে না দক্ষিণ-পূর্ব এশিয়ার দ্রুততম ক্রমবর্ধমান অর্থনীতি। এমনকি পৃথিবীর দ্রুততম ক্রমবর্ধমান বৃহৎ অর্থনীতিও নয়।

৪. আইএমএফ ভারতের ২০১৭-২০১৮ সালের অর্থনৈতিক বৃদ্ধির হারের পূর্বাভাষ কমিয়ে ৬.৭% করেছে।

৫. আইএমএফ ভারতের ২০১৮-২০১৯ সালের অর্থনৈতিক বৃদ্ধির হারের পূর্বাভাষ কমিয়ে ৭.৮% করেছে।

৬. ২০১৭ সালের এপ্রিল-জুন মাসে জিডিপি বৃদ্ধির হার কমে হয়েছে ৫.৭%। আগের বছর একই সময় এই হার ছিল ৭.১%।

৭. বড় শিল্পে ব্যাঙ্ক ক্রেডিট গ্রোথ কমেছে ১.৭% ও মাঝারি শিল্পে ৪.১%।

৮. ২০১৭-১৮ সালের প্রথম কোয়ার্টারে মাত্র ৪৪৮টি শিল্প ও পরিকাঠামোগত প্রকল্প ঘোষিত হয়েছে, যা জুন ২০১৪-র পর সবথেকে কম।

৯. যে সকল পরিকাঠামোগত প্রকল্পের কাজ আটকে রয়েছে সেপ্টেম্বর পর্যন্ত, তার পরিমাণ ১৩.২২ লক্ষ কোটি টাকা, যা গত পাঁচটি কোয়ার্টারে ক্রমান্বয়ে বাড়ছে।

১০. কৃষিক্ষেত্রে এপ্রিল-জুন ২০১৭ তে বৃদ্ধির হার ২.৩% যা জানুয়ারি-মার্চে ছিল ৫.২%।

১১. গ্রস ফিক্সড ক্যাপিটাল ফর্মেশন (যা অর্থনীতিতে বেসরকারি বিনিয়োগের মাপকাঠি) এপ্রিল-জুন কোয়ার্টারে বেড়েছে মাত্র ১.১৬%। যা আগের বছর একই সময়ে ছিল ৭.৩৯%।
১২. ২০১৭ সালের এপ্রিল-জুলাইয়ের মধ্যে সার্ভিস সেক্টরের ব্যবসা নির্ভর সূচক হার (BCI) ৫.৩% কমে গেছে।

১৩. ২০১৭ সালের এপ্রিল-জুলাইয়ের মধ্যে মূলধনী পণ্য ও কনজিউমার নন-ডিউরেবল খাতের নির্ভর সূচক হার (BCI) কমে হয়েছে যথাক্রমে ১৩.৫% এবং ১০.৩%।

১৪. জুলাইয়ের শেষে রাজস্ব ঘাটতি বাজেটের প্রায় ৯২.৪% শতাংশ ছুঁয়েছে। ২০১৬-২০১৭ সালে এই ঘাটতির পরিমাণ ছিল ৭৩.৭%।

১৫. এই অর্থবর্ষে ইনক্রিমেন্টাল ব্যাঙ্ক ক্রেডিট কমেছে। এপ্রিল থেকে আগস্টে গত বছরের তুলনায় এই পরিমাণ কমেছে ১.৩৭ লক্ষ কোটি টাকা। এটি আগের বছরের তুলনায় ১.৮% হ্রাস পেয়েছে, যা অভূতপূর্ব।

১৬. ৮ই অক্টোবর শেষ হওয়া সপ্তাহের পরিসংখ্যান অনুযায়ী ভারতের শহরাঞ্চলে
বেকারত্বের হার ছিল ৮.২%। গত ১১ মাসে ভারতের শহরাঞ্চলে বেকারত্বের ক্ষেত্রে এই হার সর্বাধিক।

১৭. ভারতীয় রিজার্ভ ব্যাঙ্কের কনজিউমার কনফিডেন্স সমীক্ষা অনুসারে দেখা গেছে কারেন্ট সিচুয়েসন ইন্ডেক্স নিরাশাজনক। এর ফলে কর্মসংস্থান, দ্রব্যমূল্য ও আয়ের অবনতি ঘটেছে।

১৮. গত ১ বছরে ভারতের অর্থনৈতিক ব্যবস্থায় নিরাশ দেশের গৃহস্থরা।

১৯. নোট বাতিলের ফলে প্রায় ১৫০ জন মানুষ প্রাণ হারিয়েছেন।

২০. নোট বাতিলের পর বেকারত্ব প্রায় ৭% বেড়ে গেছে। প্রায় ২৫ কোটি শ্রমিক-মজদুর কর্মহীন হয়েছেন।

২১. নোট বাতিলের ফলে ক্ষুদ্র ও কুটির শিল্প ও বস্ত্র শিল্পের ক্ষেত্রে রাজস্বের ক্ষতি হয়েছে ৫০% এবং কর্মহীন হয়েছে ৩০%।

২২. নোট বাতিল যদি সার্জিকাল স্ট্রাইক হয় তাহলে তার শিকার হয়েছে ভারতীয় অর্থনীতি।

The Bengal Government has decided to take the help the beneficiaries of the Lok Prasar Prakalpa for spreading awareness about dengue.

The mosquito-borne disease occurs certain times of the year, ever year and the State Government has set up an effective mechanism to fight it, from employing extra doctors to setting up special blood-testing facilities to running health camps to spraying anti-mosquito medicines.

And now, it has come up with another initiative – to employ the services of the folk artistes (singers and dancers) who are beneficiaries of the Lok Prasar Prakalpa to spread awareness about the diseases through their songs, dances and street theatres throughout the state – from the big towns to the remotest of villages.

These artistes have been very successfully used till now to spread information about the various government schemes, and hence, the decision was taken to employ them for fighting dengue.

The script for the songs and poems related to fighting dengue would be written by the Health Department and these would be handed over to the folk performers.

ডেঙ্গি সচেতনতা বাড়াতে ‘লোকপ্রসার প্রকল্পের’ শিল্পীদের কাজে লাগানোর ভাবনাচিন্তা শুরু করেছে প্রশাসন।

ইতিমধ্যেই মানুষের মধ্যে সচেতনতা প্রচারের কাজ শুরু করেছে সরকার। সচেতনতা প্রচারে বৈচিত্র্য আনতে চাইছে রাজ্য। প্রায় দু’লক্ষ লোকশিল্পীর একটি অংশকে এবার প্রচারের কাজে লাগাতে চায় রাজ্য।

স্বাস্থ্য দপ্তর ইতিমধ্যেই নবান্নের সঙ্গে আলোচনা করেছে। ঠিক হয়েছে, ডেঙ্গি সচেতনতার প্রচারের জন্য ছড়া-গান লিখবে স্বাস্থ্য দপ্তর। সেই ‘স্ক্রিপ্ট’ তুলে দেওয়া হবে লোকশিল্পীদের। তার পরেই শিল্পীরা নিজেদের মতো করে এলাকাভিত্তিকভাবে প্রচার করবেন। ডেঙ্গি মোকাবিলায় সাধারন নাগরিকের কি করণীয়, তাও জানাবেন তারা।

That time of the year is around the corner once again when Kolkata will play host to the grand Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF). It is accepted by one and all that this is one of the best film festivals in India, and it is also the one with the highest prize money.

The Bengal Government has made all the arrangements to make this another successful festival. The dates this time are November 10 to 17.

All through the eight days, films will be shown at 12 auditoria – Nandan 1, 2 and 3, Rabindra Sadan, Sisir Mancha, Navina Cinema, Star Theatre, Mitra Cinema, Inox at Salt Lake City Centre 1 Mall, Purbashree Auditorium at Salt Lake EZCC, Nazrul Tirtha and PVR Mani Square.

The festival is organised by the Information and Cultural Affairs Department of the Bengal Government.

Apart from Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and famous British director Michael Winterbottom in attendance, the government has also managed another coup of sorts by getting to screen a rare Godard film. This will be the first screening of the film in India.

Titled Rise and Fall of Small Film Company, Godard made this film for television, and was screened in 1986. According to many cine buffs, this is a watershed moment for an Indian film festival.

Among the films of Winterbottom that will be screened are Trishna, On the Road and Welcome to Sarajevo.

২৩ তম কলকাতা আন্তর্জাতিক চলচ্চিত্র উৎসব সফল করতে উদ্যোগী রাজ্য সরকার

পুজোর মরশুম যত শেষ হওয়ার দিকে এগোয়, কলকাতার চলচ্চিত্রমোদীদের মনের উড়ুউড়ু ভাবটা ততই বাড়তে থাকে। এবার অবশ্য পুজোর মরশুম এসে পড়েছিল কিছুটা আগেই। তাই শেষও হবে আগেভাগে। কিন্তু হেমন্ত যতই এগিয়ে আসছে, ততই তার সঙ্গে কাছে এসে পড়ছে কলকাতা আন্তর্জাতিক চলচ্চিত্র উৎসব। এবার তাঁর বয়স হবে ২৩।

প্রতিবারের মতো এবারও নভেম্বরের ১০ থেকে ১৭ তারিখ পর্যন্ত চলবে এই উৎসব। সিনেমোদীদের আগ্রহ থাকে কোন কোন নতুন পরিচালকের ছবি দেখানো হবে, কার কার রেট্রোস্পেকটিভ হবে, কোন কোন নতুন দেশের ছবি দেখা যাবে- সে সব নিয়ে। সব তথ্য পাওয়া যাবে অনলাইনে।

কলকাতা ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ফিল্ম ফেস্টিভ্যালে দুটি আন্তর্জাতিক প্রতিযোগিতা বিভাগ শুরু হয়েছিল আগেই। তার একটি উইমেন ডিরেক্টরস’ ফিল্মস অন্যটি ইনোভেশনস ইন মুভিং ইমেজেস। এবছর শুরু হচ্ছে আরও একটি নতুন প্রতিযোগিতা বিভাগ, ন্যাশনাল কম্পিটিশন সেকশন। এর আগে ন্যাশনাল শর্ট ফিল্ম কম্পিটিশন ও ন্যাশনাল ডকুমেন্টারি ফিল্ম কম্পিটিশন থাকলেও এই বিভাগটি ছিল না।

৮দিনে ১২টি প্রেক্ষাগৃহে উৎসবের সিনেমাগুলি দেখানো হবে। এই প্রেক্ষাগৃহগুলি হল, নন্দন ১,২,৩, রবীন্দ্র সদন, শিশির মঞ্চ, নবীনা সিনেমা, স্টার থিয়েটার, মিত্রা সিনেমা, সল্ট লেক সিটি সেন্টারের আইনক্স, সল্ট লেক ইজেডসিসি পূর্বশ্রী অডিটোরিয়াম, নজরুল তীর্থ, মণি স্কোয়ারের পিভিআর।

অমিতাভ বচ্চন, শাহরুখ খান, কাজল ও ব্রিটিশ ডিরেক্টর উইন্টারবোটম ছাড়াও, আরও চমক থাকছে দর্শকদের জন্য। গদার্দ-এর একটি দুষ্প্রাপ্য সিনেমা ভারতে এই প্রথমবার দেখানো হবে ফেস্টিভ্যালে। ‘রাইজ অ্যান্ড ফল অফ স্মল ফিল্ম কোম্পানি’ গদার্দের এই সিনেমাটি ১৯৮৬ সালে প্রথমবার টিভি’র পর্দায় দেখানো হয়েছিল।

ব্রিটিশ ডিরেক্টর উইন্টারবোটমের ‘তৃষ্ণা’, ‘অন দা রোড’ ও ‘ওয়েলকাম তো সারাজেভো’ এই উৎসবে দেখানো হবে।

Over the last few years, the annual food festival, Ahare Bangla at the Milan Mela fairground has become very popular. This annual fair held at the beginning of winter has drawn droves of food-lovers to taste some wonderful delicacies.

And not just selling food, the fair has also enabled businesses to explore new avenues and has thus, generated employment opportunities. Using their massive sales at Ahare Bangla as a plank, quite a few hotels and restaurants have been able to establish bases outside Bengal.

The State Animal Husbandry Department, which organises the fair, is busy now making preparations for holding the fair. That it has been an unqualified success is apparent from another fact: the department’s budget for the fair has jumped from Rs 75 lakh in 2015 to Rs 2.24 crore in 2017. This year, along with Animal Husbandry, the departments of Fisheries, Agriculture Marketing, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), along with five others, are lending a helping hand in the organising of the food festival.

Last year, sales at the five-day long fair had crossed Rs 2 crore. This year, officials of the department are confident that the number will rise by a few times.

Last year, well-established restaurants and hotels from Russia, China, Japan and Bangladesh had taken part and were very happy with the response. This year too, quite a few countries would be represented. And of course, the best of Bengal is represented – be it food or restaurants.

শীতের আগে মহানগর মাতাবে আহারে বাংলা

খেয়ে খাইয়ে তুষ্টি, আবার কর্মসংস্থান ও ব্যবসা সম্প্রসারণের সুবর্ণ সুযোগ। দুয়ের জব্বর মেলবন্ধন করেছে আহারে বাংলা। রাজ্য সরকারের প্রাণী সম্পদ উন্নয়ন দপ্তরের সাড়া জাগানো পেটপুজো পার্বণ।

গত দু’বছর যাবত শীতের মুখে কলকাতায় পসরা সাজাচ্ছে আহারে বাংলা। দু’বছর আগে এই উদ্যোগের সূচনা কালে তার বাজেট ছিল ৭৫ লাখ টাকা। দু’বছর বাদে তাই বেড়ে গিয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে ২ কোটি ২৪ লাখ টাকায়। গত বছর পাঁচ দিনের এই উৎসব বিকিকিনির বহর ২ কোটি টাকা ছাপিয়ে গেছিল। শুধু কদিনের মারকাটারি বিপণন নয়। আহারে বাংলার দীর্ঘমেয়াদি সুফলও বুঝতে পারা যাচ্ছে।

আহারে বাংলা’র হাত ধরেই বেশকিছু বাঙালি হোটেল, রেস্তোরাঁর রাজ্যের গন্ডি ছাড়িয়ে পড়েছে ভিন রাজ্যে। এবছরের আহারে বাংলা আশা করা যায় আগের বারের রেকর্ড ভাঙবে, জোর কদমে এখন থেকেই চলছে প্রস্তুতি।

প্রাণী সম্পদ উন্নয়ন দপ্তরের সঙ্গে হাত মিলিয়েছে মৎস্য, কৃষি বিপণন, ক্ষুদ্র ও কুটির শিল্প সহ আরও পাঁচটি দপ্তর। প্রাণী সম্পদ উন্নয়ন দপ্তরের আধিকারিকের কথায়, বর্ধমানের সীতাভোগ বা মিহিদানার সঙ্গে পাল্লা দিয়ে বিকোয় মুর্শিদাবাদের ছানাবড়া বা মেদিনীপুর নদীয়া কৃষ্ণনগরের মিষ্টি।

আগের বছর ভারতের সঙ্গে অংশ নিয়েছিল বাংলাদেশ, রাশিয়া, চীন, জাপানের বেশ কয়েকটি হোটেল, রেস্তোরাঁ। এবারও অংশ নেবে বিদেশী একাধিক সংস্থা। এবারে আহারে বাংলা ফুড ফেস্টিভালে দর্শকরাও তাদের মনপসন্দ রান্না করার সুযোগ পাবেন। শহরের সেরা শেফদের সামনে তারা তাদের রেসিপির দৌলতে জিতে নিতে পারবেন পুরস্কারও।

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced recently that the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the governing body of Indian football, would establish its Centre of Excellence in Kolkata.

The Chief Minister has promised to allot 15 acres of land in Rajarhat for the purpose. The announcement was made at a gala dinner at Eco Park held the day before the final of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, in the presence of the FIFA president and his council members.

The tournament has been a huge success, and FIFA itself has acknowledged the fact, being the best-attended Under-17 World Cup ever. On top of that, with due credit to Mamata Banerjee and her active part in making the tournament a huge success in Kolkata, Kolkata has seen, by far, the highest average attendance for the matches.

As Mamata Banerjee announced through a Facebook message, out of the 13.47 lakh spectators in India who watched the matches, Kolkata had 6.08 lakh watching them at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan. This is  more than 45 per cent of the total spectator count. Furthermore, the per match average spectator count in India was 25,906, while in Kolkata it was 55,345 – which is more than double.

দেশের প্রথম ফুটবল সেন্টার রাজারহাটে

ফুটবলে দেশের প্রথম সেন্টার অফ এক্সেলেন্সের জন্য রাজারহাটে ১৫ একর জমি দেবে রাজ্য সরকার৷ শুক্রবার ইকো পার্কে ফিফা প্রেসিডেন্ট জিয়ানি ইনফান্তিনোর সামনে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় এই ঘোষণা করার পর সর্বভারতীয় ফুটবল ফেডারেশন প্রেসিডেন্ট বলেন, প্রস্তাবিত সেন্টার অফ এক্সেলেন্স কলকাতায় হবে৷ ফিফা প্রেসিডেন্টকে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী অনুরোধ করেন, ‘অনূর্ধ্ব ২০ বিশ্বকাপ এখানে হলে রাজ্য সরকার পূর্ণ সহায়তা করবে৷’

কলকাতায় ফাইনাল করার জন্য ফিফা প্রেসিডেন্টকে ধন্যবাদ দিয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী৷ গালা ডিনারে ফেডারেশনের প্রেসিডেন্ট বলেন, ‘এখানে ফিফা কাউন্সিল মিটিং করার জন্য ফিফা প্রেসিডেন্টকে ধন্যবাদ৷ রাজারহাটে সেন্টার করার জন্য মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর জমি দেওয়ার প্রতিশ্রুতিতে খুশি আমরা৷ জমি পেলে খুব তাড়াতাড়ি সেন্টারের কাজ শুরু করব৷’

ফিফা প্রেসিডেন্ট বললেন, ‘মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর কথা আমার হূদয় ছুঁয়ে গেল৷ এ ভাবে সবাই ফুটবলের জন্য কিছু করলে ভারতে ফুটবল পিছিয়ে থাকবে না৷ বিশ্বের ছয় ভাগ লোকের এক ভাগ লোকের বাস ভারতে৷ এখানে ফুটবল যদি গুরুত্ব পায়, তা হলে ভারত একদিন বিশ্ব ফুটবলে শাসন করবে৷ অন্য দেশগুলোর কাছে ভারত একটা উদাহরণ হয়ে থাকবে৷’

Congratulating her for successfully hosting the Under-17 Football World Cup, FIFA President Giovanni Vincenzo Infantino wrote to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday assuring assistance for the projects taken up for development of football. It may be mentioned that he had earlier appreciated the role of the Mamata Banerjee-government for developing an international standard infrastructure for the FIFA Under-17 Football World Cup. FIFA president reached Zurich on Friday and wrote to the Chief Minister.

The letter reads: “The FIFA delegation has now returned to Zurich with a host of unforgettable memories and having made many warm hearted new friendships during our stay in Kolkata for the final matches of the FIFA Under-17 Football World Cup in India and the FIFA Council meeting.” He further stated in the letter that: “Herewith, I would like to congratulate your government on its role in your country’s successful hosting of the FIFA Under-17 Football World Cup. I would also like to thank you on behalf of the entire FIFA delegation for affording us such a cordial welcome and warm hospitality as well as the all the moments shared together at the wonderful All India Football Federation (AIFF) gala dinner at the Eco Park and during the exciting final match between England and Spain last Sunday which I was very pleased and honoured to attain by your side at the Vivekananda Yuva Krirangan in Kolkata. The talks we had were marked by sincere friendship and mutual respect…about your vision of the important role that football plays in breaking down cultural and social barriers making the game accessible to all.”

It may be mentioned the Chief Minister had announced that the state government will be giving 15 acre land at new Town to AIFF to set up a national level football academy. In this connection, FIFA president wrote: “Herewith, I would also like to praise the remarkable work and efforts of the AIFF, who implements new plans for development of our sport in your country…and the construction of the AIFF National Centre of Excellence which will be realised on the 15 acres of land your government has kindly decided to give AIFF. I would like to thank you for this strong contribution towards supporting football development and promoting the values of our sport in your country. I can assure you that our stay in your country has given the fresh determination to provide any assistance from FIFA and the international football community that could be helpful in the realization of these development projects.”

 

 

রাজারহাটে ফুটবল উৎকর্ষ কেন্দ্র গড়তে ৭১ কোটি টাকা দিচ্ছে ফিফা, আয়োজনের প্রশংসা করে চিঠি দিল ফিফা

 

বাংলার আতিথেয়তায় মুগ্ধ ফিফা চিঠি পাঠালো মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়কে। রাজ্যে ফুটবল উৎকর্ষ কেন্দ্র গড়তে ১১ মিলিয়ন ডলার দেওয়ার কথা জানিয়েছে ফিফা। শুক্রবার মুখ্যমন্ত্রীকে চিঠির মাধ্যমে একথা জানিয়েছেন ফিফা সভাপতি জিয়ানি ইনফ্যান্টিনো। ফাইনাল সহ যে কটি ম্যাচ যুবভারতীতে হয়েছে, তার জন্যও উচ্ছ্বসিত প্রশংসা করেছেন তিনি। ফুটবলের উন্নতির জন্য যেকোনোও সাহায্যে সব সময় পাশে থাকবে ফিফা, এটাও জানিয়েছেন।

জুরিখ থেকে পাঠানো চিঠিতে তিনি মমতার প্রতি অকুণ্ঠ ধন্যবাদ জানিয়েছেন। ইকো পার্কের গালা ডিনার এবং রাজ্যের সংস্কৃতি ও মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর আন্তরিকতাকে ফিফা সভাপতি অবিস্মরণীয় বলে উল্লেখ করেছেন। রাজারহাটে উৎকর্ষ কেন্দ্র তৈরির জন্য অল ইন্ডিয়া ফুটবল ফেডারেশনকে (এ আই এফ এফ) ১ টাকার বিনিময়ে লিজে ১৫ একর জমি দিয়েছে রাজ্য সরকার। মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর উদ্যোগে এই ‘এ আই এফ এফ ন্যাশানাল ফুটবল সেন্টার ফর এক্সেলেন্স’ তৈরি হবে নিউটাউনের অ্যাকশন এরিয়া ২-তে। পরিকাঠামো তৈরির পুরো খরচ, যা হল ৭১ কোটি টাকা, দেবে ফিফা।

The Bengal Government has introduced the ‘Banglar Bari’ project to provide flats to people living below poverty line (BPL) in municipality areas.

The government has decided to build four-storied buildings in municipal areas to ensure permanent shelter to people from financially weaker sections.

The buildings will be constructed by the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA). Priority will be given to families headed by women and financially weaker families whose monthly income is less than Rs 10,000.

The beneficiaries have to apply to SUDA to get a flat under the project. Local municipalities have to ensure that the beneficiaries are from the BPL category and that the applicants don’t have any concrete houses.

The project will immensely benefit people in the BPL category in urban areas under different municipalities.

 

 

১০ হাজার টাকা পর্যন্ত আয়ের মানুষদের পুর এলাকায় নিখরচায় ফ্ল্যাট দেবে রাজ্য

 

পুর এলাকার গরিব ও দুঃস্থ মানুষ, অর্থাৎ অর্থনৈতিকভাবে পিছিয়ে পড়া গৃহহীন অংশের (ইকোনমিক্যালি উইকার সেকশন) জন্য বহুতল আবাসন বানাচ্ছে রাজ্য সরকার। রাজ্য মন্ত্রিসভার বৈঠকে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের উপস্থিতিতে গৃহীত হয়েছে এই সিদ্ধান্ত।

ভূমি ও গৃহহীনদের জন্য আবাসন তৈরির এই প্রকল্পের পোশাকি নাম ‘বাংলার বাড়ি’। এখানে হবে ‘জি প্লাস থ্রি’ আবাসন। প্রতিটি ফ্ল্যাট হবে ৩৮৫ বর্গফুট কার্পেট এরিয়ার। ফ্ল্যাট পাওয়ার জন্য উপভোক্তাকে এক পয়সাও দিতে হবে না। তাই উপভোক্তা বাছাইয়ের ক্ষেত্রে ইকোনমিক্যালি উইকার সেকশন(ইডব্লুএস) নির্ধারণের উল্লেখিত শর্তাবলী কঠোরভাবে মেনে চলার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে পুর ও নগরোন্নয়ন দপ্তর।

কোনও পুর এলাকায় যে পরিবারের কোনও জমি বা বাড়ি নেই এবং যে পরিবারের মাসিক আয় ১০ হাজার টাকা পর্যন্ত, কেবলমাত্র তারাই এই আবাসনে ফ্ল্যাটের জন্য আবেদন করতে পারবে। ফ্ল্যাটের আবেদন জানাতে হবে স্টেট আরবান ডেভেলপমেন্ট এজেন্সি (সুডা)-এর কাছে।
