FULL TRANSCRIPT

Sir, I am really grateful to you for giving me a chance to raise an issue of importance. The Hon’ble Railway Minister is also present here. Sir, my issue is for setting up of the railway line from Furfura Sharif to Dankuni.

In 2010, the then Hon’ble Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee had started this project. But, since 2014, it has been stopped totally. There is a mosque at Furfura Sharif built by Muqlish Khan in 1375 and it is a pilgrimage site for Muslims, specially during the Pir Mela. It attracts lakhs and lakhs of pilgrims during Urs Festival. Furfura Sharif contains a Mazaar of Abu Bakkar Siddiqui and his five sons, popularly known as the Panch Huzur Keblah, who were socio-religious reformers.

Sir, what I am urging is that this scheme is already announced. Work for it had commenced. As per my knowledge, 20 to 25 persons were given employment also because their lands were taken. Now this project from Furfura Sharif to Dankuni should be completed. It will be my humble request, through you Sir, to the Hon’ble Railway Minister. The Hon’ble Railway Minister is also present. In the past, he had considered my requests. In the 17Th Lok Sabha, this is my first request to him.
