CM meets legendary singer Manna Dey at his Bengaluru home, confers him with Bisesh Sangeet Maha Samman

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met legendary singer Manna Dey at his Bengaluru residence, and conferred him with Bisesh Sangeet Maha Samman on behalf of State Govt., on the eve of Bangla Sangeet Mela, to be held from April 6, 2013.

The legendary singer, now 94 years of age, is settled in Bengaluru.

Born on May 1, 1919 and named Prabodh Chandra Dey, who became popular as Manna Dey, was honoured with the prestigious Padma Shree in 1971, Padma Bhusan in 2005 and the Dadasaheb Phalke in 2007. He is the nephew of the celebrated blind singer Krishna Chandra De. ill date there is no Indian language which has not been blessed by the melody of this multi-talented singer. He has also recorded more than 3500 songs. His music has enthralled the audience throughout the world. And justifiably he has been showered with innumerable awards and titles like the National singer, Padmasree, and Padmabhusan.
