The Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress Government has decided that, despite the immense pressure on it on account of having to repay the huge debts accumulated by the Left Front Government, it would continue with the special food packages for the people of Jangalmahal and the Hills.

Besides rice and wheat at Rs 2 per kg, the State Government supplies more than double the amount supplied to the other regions of the state for the people of these regions – 11 kg per person per month against 5 kg in the other areas. Everyone, irrespective of economic condition, is eligible for getting subsidised rice and wheat in these two regions.

Whereas 42 lakh people in Jangalmahal are supplied with rice and wheat through the ration system (public distribution system, or PDS), in the Hills, the number is 8 lakh 75 thousand.

The five districts of Paschim Medinipur, Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura and Birbhum comprise Jangalmahal, whereas Darjeeling and Kurseong subdivisions of Darjeeling district and Kalimpong district comprise the Hills region.

The State Government also provides special packages in a few other regions which would also continue – 16 kg of rice and wheat per person per month through PDS to the Cyclone Aila-affected people in the Sundarbans and the farmers who lost land in Singur as a result of the illegal acquisition, 35 kg of rice and wheat per family through PDS to the families of tea garden workers, and 5 kg of rice and wheat per person per month for free to members of the Toto tribe in north Bengal.

জঙ্গলমহল ও পাহাড়ে ‘স্পেশাল ফুড প্যাকেজ’ চালিয়ে যাবে রাজ্য

বিপুল ভর্তুকির দায় বহন করতে হলেও জঙ্গলমহল ও পাহাড়ের ‘স্পেশাল ফুড প্যাকেজ’ চালিয়ে যাবে রাজ্য সরকার। রাজ্যের এই দু’টি এলাকায় সব বাসিন্দাকে দু’ টাকা কেজি দরে চাল-গম সরবরাহ করা হয়। শুধু তাই নয়, অন্য জায়গার তুলনায় দ্বিগুণের বেশি পরিমাণ খাদ্যসামগ্রী এখানে দেওয়া হয়।

জঙ্গলমহলে ৪২ লক্ষ মানুষকে রেশনের সস্তার চাল-গম সরবরাহ করা হয়। পাহাড়ে এই সংখ্যা ৮ লক্ষ ৭৫ হাজার। পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুর, বাঁকুড়া, বীরভূম, পুরুলিয়া এবং ঝাড়গ্রাম জেলার ৩১টি ব্লক জঙ্গলমহলের মধ্যে পড়ে। পাহাড়ের মধ্যে পড়ে দার্জিলিং জেলার দার্জিলিং এবং কার্শিয়াং মহকুমা ও কালিম্পং জেলা। জঙ্গলমহল ও পাহাড় ছাড়া কিছু বিশেষ শ্রেণির জন্য অতিরিক্ত খাদ্যসামগ্রী দেয় সরকার। সেই প্যাকেজও চলবে। সুন্দরবনের আইলা বিধ্বস্ত এলাকার সব রেশন গ্রাহকদের জন্য পরিবার পিছু মাসে ১৬ কেজি করে চাল-গম দেওয়া হয়। সম পরিমাণ খাদ্যসামগ্রী পান সিঙ্গুরের জমিহারা পরিবারগুলি। উত্তরবঙ্গের টোটো উপজাতির লোকেদের বিনামূল্যে মাসে মাথাপিছু পাঁচ কেজি করে চাল-গম দেওয়া হয়। চা বাগানের শ্রমিকদের মাসে পরিবার পিছু ৩৫ কেজি করে চাল-গম দেওয়া হয় রেশনের মাধ্যমে।

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a media interaction at Nabanna today after a meeting between the State Government and representatives of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM). The meeting was called by the State’s Chief Secretary to discuss issues regarding the tea gardens in the hills.

The Government has asked all concerned parties, including the garden owners, the unions and tea associations, to reopen the tea gardens and pay the workers the bonus due to them. Another meeting would be held on September 21 in Siliguri with the Labour Commissioner to finalise these issues.

The Chief Minister said the government wanted to know from the Hill leaders how the people in the Hills were faring. She said the situation in the region had improved now. The State Government has always wanted development and peace in the Hills. She wished her brothers and sisters in the Hills well.

Mamata Banerjee also offered her greetings to the people on the occasion of Durga Puja. The inauguration of various pandals started from today.

 

 

চা বাগানের শ্রমিকদের পুজোর বোনাস দেওয়া হোকঃ মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়

 

আজ নবান্নে গোর্খা জনমুক্তি মোর্চার প্রতিনিধিদের সঙ্গে বৈঠক করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। বৈঠকের পর সাংবাদিক দের মুখোমুখি হয়ে তিনি জানান, “আজ মুখ্য সচিব একটি বৈঠক ডেকেছেন। গোর্খা জনমুক্তি মোর্চার প্রতিনিধিরা উপস্থিত ছিলেন বৈঠকে। চা বাগান নিয়ে আলোচনা হয়েছে”।

চা বাগান খুলে দিতে ও শ্রমিকদের বোনাস দিতে বলা হয়েছে। আগামী ২১ তারিখ একটি বৈঠক হবে এবং সেখানে সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হবে।

তিনি আরও বলেন, “আমরা জানতে চেয়েছি পাহাড়ের মানুষজন কেমন আছেন। পাহাড় এখন অনেক স্বাবাভিক হয়ে গেছে। আমরা পাহাড়ের উন্নয়ন চাই, শান্তি চাই। পাহাড় অনেকটাই স্বাভাবিক হয়ে গেছে। পাহাড়ের ভাই বোন ভালো থাকুক”।

তাঁর কথায়, “কোনরকম সন্ত্রাসবাদী কার্যকলাপ আমরা বরদাস্ত করব না, সরকার তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে ব্যবস্থা নেবে”।

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has urged the people of the state to maintain peace and harmony during Durga Puja and Muharram. Formally announcing that visarjan on Dashami will now be allowed up to 10 pm, but will not be allowed the next day because of Muharram, she said some persons had been deliberately twisting the festive spirit and efforts to maintain peace by spreading misinformation and mischievous aspersions.

They had tried to say that Bengal and Kolkata police were unable to manage the two occasions, and that the police in Mumbai were more efficient. But it must be remembered that no state other than Bengal holds Durga Puja on such a large scale. If Ganesh Puja immersion and Muharram happened together, maintaining order would not have been easy. For the last five years, Bengal has been successfully holding immersion of Durga and Muharram together.

A few people are spreading canards and indulging in dirty politics. They take out processions carrying weapons, which is illegal. But they must realise that Bengal is different. We are a peace-loving, wise and mature people and will not give in to attempts to disrupt law and order or create tension. Those who cannot tackle us politically are resorting to CBI, ED and other agencies. They are even trying to create tension and riot-like situations. But Bengal is different. We will not yield to such attempts, the chief minister said.

Durga Puja is a festival of joy. Some have said the Government was curbing the tradition of bidding farewell to the Goddess with the smearing of vermilion. That can never be…the festive spirit cannot be curtailed. Wives can smear vermilion as much as they want on Vijaya Dashami, followed by immersion. Then, with a break of one day, immersions will again resume, culminating in the Carnival on Red Road on October 3.

The festive season starts tomorrow with Viswakarma Puja, followed two days later by Mahalaya. Let the days of Durga Puja be spent in joy; let there be no false propaganda, no spreading of hatred, she said, requesting everyone to maintain harmony, good spirits, and respect for each other.

 

 

দুর্গাপুজো ও মহরমে শান্তি শৃঙ্খলা বজায় রাখার আর্জি মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর

 

বাংলার মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় রাজ্যবাসীর কাছে দুর্গাপুজো ও মহরমে শান্তি শৃঙ্খলা বজায় রাখার আর্জি জানান। তিনি বলেন- “জনসাধারণের আবেদন মেনে দশমীর দিন সন্ধে ৬টার বদলে সময় বাড়িয়ে করা হল রাত ১০ টা । ১ তারিখ মহরম পড়েছে তাই কোনও বিসর্জন হবে না, আর আমাদের তিথি অনুযায়ী একাদশী পড়েছে, একাদশীর দিন আমরা কোনও ঘরের ঠাকুর বিসর্জন দিয়ি না, এমনকি পাড়ার গুলোও দেয় না। কেউ যদি মনে করেন বাংলার শান্তি, সংস্কৃতি কেড়ে নেবেন, তাঁদের বলতে চাই, আগুন নিয়ে খেলবেন না, আপনারাও ভালো থাকুন, ভালো ভাবে পুজো কাটান।

কেউ কেউ নোংরামি, চক্রান্ত করে বলছে মুম্বইয়ের পুলিশ দক্ষ, বাংলার পুলিশ দক্ষ নয়। বাংলার মত কোন রাজ্যে এত ব্যাপকভাবে দুর্গা পুজো হয় না। এক একটা রাজ্যের এক একটা উৎসব। মুম্বইয়ে গণেশ পুজো বড় করে পালন করা হয়। মুম্বইয়ে যদি গণপতি বিসর্জন আর মহরম একদিনে হলে ওরা সামলাতে পারত না। গত ৫ বছর ধরে আমরা পুজো ও মহরম একসাথে সামলাচ্ছি দক্ষতার সাথে।

অস্ত্র নিয়ে কোনও মিছিল করা যাবে না। অস্ত্র রাখতে গেলে লাইসেন্স লাগে। অস্ত্র নিয়ে মিছিল বেআইনি। অস্ত্র নিয়ে মিছিল করার চেষ্টা হলে সরকার কঠোর পদক্ষেপ করবে। মনে রাখতে হবে বাংলাটা একটু অন্যরকম, বাংলা- বাংলার মতো চলে, বাংলার মানুষ এসব পছন্দ করে না, বাংলার মানুষ শান্তিপ্রিয়, সচেতন নাগরিক। যারা রাজনীতিটা রাজনীতি দিয়ে করতে পারে না, তারা সিবিআই দিয়ে ইডি দিয়ে দাঙ্গা লাগিয়ে, চক্রান্ত করে, দিস ইস দেয়ার গেম প্ল্যান। দাঙ্গা সবসময় কঠোর হস্তে মোকাবিলা হবে, পুজো তেও মানুষ শান্তিতে থাকতে পারবে না? এই পলিটিক্স কেন? রাজনীতিটা রাজনীতি দিয়ে করা ভালো।

আমাদের যেমন জাতীয় উৎসব দুর্গাপুজো, তারপরে আসে লক্ষ্মী পুজো, কালী পুজো, জগদ্ধাত্রী পুজো, হিন্দুস্তানি ভাই বোনেদের ছট পুজো আসে। দুর্গাপুজো হচ্ছে আনন্দের উৎসব। দশমীর দিন, ২তারিখ, ৩তারিখ, ৪তারিখ ও বিসর্জন হবে- আর তার মধ্যে আমাদের পুজা কার্নিভাল আছে ৩ তারিখে রেড রোডে।

আগামী কালই বিশ্বকর্মা পুজো, আর তার ১ দিন পর মহালয়া। ১৮তারিখ থেকে আমারও পুজো উদ্বোধন শুরু হচ্ছে। আমি সকলকে অনুরোধ করব শান্তিপূর্ণ ভাবে পুজো কাটান এবং ‘সর্বধর্ম সমন্বয়’ রামকৃষ্ণ পরমহংসদেব যে কথা বলে গিয়েছেন, স্বামী বিবেকানন্দ যে কথা বলে গিয়েছেন, আমরা তাঁদের সকলকে মর্যাদা দিয়ে আমরা সবাই সবার মতো করে এই পুজো পালন করব, আমরা যেন কোনও প্ররোচনায় পা না দিই। মিথ্যা প্রচার করে নয়, কুৎসা নয়, আমাদের উৎসবের দিনগুলো যাতে ভালো করে কাটে,
সকলকে শারদ শুভেচ্ছা অভিনন্দন জানাচ্ছি।”

In a major push to infrastructure development in Bengal, the Trinamool Congress Government has decided to spend Rs 12,180 crore in addition to the Rs 20,155 crore allocated in this year’s budget for the purpose.

This was stated by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at a media interaction at the state secretariat, Nabanna yesterday. The amount, she said, would be spent for the construction of roads, bridges, flyovers, water and electrification projects, and warehouses for the storage of foodgrains in the next two to three years. A committee has been formed under the chief secretary for monitoring them.

As many as 12 flyovers will be built along with a complete overhaul of the power distribution system, bridges, flyovers and various other projects. She further said that the government had sent a proposal to the Railway Ministry for a bullet train linking Andal to Kolkata.

The government is allocating Rs 6,195 crore extra to the State Public Works Department (PWD) and an additional Rs 2,862 crore to the Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Department. Rs 850 crore will be given to West Bengal Warehouse Corporation for constructing warehouses to store foodgrain.

The projects that will be taken up by the PWD include four-laning of the Kalyani Expressway and Belgharia Expressway connectivity, Bankura-Durgapur Road and Kolkata-Basanti Road up to Ghatakpukur, and flyovers at Manicktala crossing along AJC Bose Road, over Ganesh Chandra Avenue, at New Market towards MG Road crossing and from Tartala to Jadavpur Phanri via Prince Anwar Shah Road.

Work to be undertaken by the Urban Development Department includes the construction of a giant wheel at the riverside Millenium Park in Kolkata, and trans-municipal water supply schemes for Dankuni, Uttarpara, Konnagar, Rishra, Sreerampore and Baidyabati.

In the power sector, the government is allocating as much as Rs 2,273 crore, including for three units of the Kolaghat Thermal Power Station, which will be renovated and modernised along with two units of Sagardighi and Kolaghat (Unit 1).

Bengal is developing Andal Airport in Durgapur to take a part of the load off the airport in Kolkata. The Chief Minister said that the State Government had sent a proposal to the Centre for a bullet train connecting Andal with the city. A passenger from the Andal airport can commute within 45 minutes to the city by a bullet train.

She maintained that Bengal has been marching ahead despite financial constraints. She said that development cannot take place without infrastructure. Once these projects are complete, Bengal will attain the golden era, she added.

পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়নে আরও ১২,১৮০ কোটি টাকা বরাদ্দ করল রাজ্য সরকার

 

রাজ্যে পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়নের ওপর আরও জোর দিতে অতিরিক্ত ১২ হাজার কোটি টাকা বরাদ্দ করল সরকার। শুক্রবার নবান্নে সাংবাদিক বৈঠক করে একথা ঘোষণা করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়৷ ২০১৭-১৮ অর্থবর্ষে পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়নে আরও ১২,১৮০ কোটি টাকা বরাদ্দ করল রাজ্য সরকার।
এদিন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী জানান, অন্ডাল বিমানবন্দর থেকে কলকাতা বিমানবন্দর পর্যন্ত বুলেট ট্রেন চালু করার জন্য রাজ্য সরকার একটি প্রস্তাব কেন্দ্রের কাছে পাঠিয়েছে। তিনি বলেন, “রাজ্যে পরিকাঠামো বাড়লে বিনিয়োগ বাড়বে। গত ছ’‌বছরে বাংলা অনেক এগিয়ে গেছে। ভারত সেরা থেকে বিশ্ব সেরা হয়েছে। আর্থিক সমস্যা রয়েছে। তবু রাজ্য জুড়ে খাদ্য, বিদ্যুৎ, রাস্তাঘাট, পানীয় জল–সহ সবক্ষেত্রেই আরও উন্নত পরিকাঠামো গড়ে তোলার সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়েছে। আগামী তিন বছরে এই প্রকল্পগুলি শেষ হয়ে গেলে বাংলায় স্বর্ণযুগ আসবে”।
সড়ক প্রকল্পে উন্নয়ন:

মিলেনিয়াম পার্কে কলকাতা আই প্রকল্পের জন্য ২৯০ কোটি টাকা বরাদ্দ করা হয়েছে। এছাড়া ইএম বাইপাস থেকে নিউ টাউন পর্যন্ত এলিভেটেড ক‌রিডর,গড়িয়াহাট রোড দক্ষিণে উড়ালপুল, কল্যাণী এক্সপ্রেসওয়ের ৪২ কিলোমিটার এবং বেলঘরিয়া এক্সপ্রেসওয়ের সংযোগকারী চার কিলোমিটার রাস্তা চার লেন, কলকাতা–বাসন্তী রোডের ঘটকপুকুর পর্যন্ত ২৫ কিলোমিটার রাস্তা চার লেন করার পরিকল্পনা নেওয়া হয়েছে।
নতুন ফ্লাইওভারঃ

  • তারাতলা থেকে টালিগঞ্জ ও আনোয়ার শাহ রোড হয়ে যাদবপুর ফাঁড়ি পর্যন্ত ফ্লাইওভার – প্রকল্পে খরচ ২৭০ কোটি টাকা
  • সুকান্ত সেতু থেকে সেলিমপুর পর্যন্ত ফ্লাইওভার – প্রকল্পে খরচ ২৪৮ কোটি টাকা
  • শিয়ালদহ ব্রিজ থেকে স্টেশন পর্যন্ত ফ্লাইওভার- প্রকল্পে খরচ ২১ কোটি টাকা
  • সেক্টর ফাইভ কলেজ মোড় থেকে রাজারহাট পর্যন্ত ফ্লাইওভার- প্রকল্পে খরচ ৬৮ কোটি টাকা
  • মানিকতলা ক্রসিং থেকে এজেসি বোস রোড পর্যন্ত ফ্লাইওভার – প্রকল্পে খরচ ৩৫০ কোটি টাকা
  • গণেশচন্দ্র অ্যাভিনিউ থেেক এমজি রোড পর্যন্ত ফ্লাইওভার- প্রকল্পে খরচ ৩৭৫ কোটি টাকা
  • সৈয়দ আমির আলি অ্যাভিনিউ থেকে মা ফ্লাইওভার পর্যন্ত ফ্লাইওভার
  • ভাগীরথী নদীর ওপর কালনায় সেতু তৈরি। পাচশো কোটি টাকা বরাদ্দ করা হয়েছে

 

পরিকাঠামোয় অতিরিক্ত বরাদ্দঃ

আগে বরাদ্দ ছিল ২০,১৫৫.৬১ কোটি টাকা। অতিরিক্ত ১২,১৮০ কোটি টাকা বরাদ্দ করা হল।
পানীয় জল প্রকল্পঃ

জলের সমস্যার কথা মাথায় রেখে ১৩৬৮ কোটি টাকার একটি প্রকল্প নেওয়া হয়েছে। এর ফলে ডানকুনি, উত্তরপাড়া, কোন্নগর, রিষড়া, শ্রীরামপুর, বৈদ্যবাটি,চাপদানি পুরসভা এবং তার সংলগ্ন এলাকায় পানীয় জলের সমস্যা মিটবে।
বিদ্যুৎ:

বিদ্যুতের সমস্যা সমাধান করতে ২২৭৩ কোটি টাকার অতিরিক্ত বাজেট বরাদ্দ করা হয়েছে। এই প্রকল্পে সাগরদিঘি তিন এবং চার নম্বর ইউনিট, কোলাঘাটের এক নম্বর ইউনিট সংস্কার করা হবে। নিউ টাউনে উন্নত বিদ্যুৎ পরিষেবা দেওয়া হবে।

এছাড়াও বেহালা, বালুরঘাট, কোচবিহার, মালদায় ছোট ছোট বিমানবন্দরগুলি ঢেলে সাজা হচ্ছে। ইতিমধ্যে ২৬টি হেলিপ্যাডও তৈরি করা হয়েছে। খাদ্যশস্য মজুত করতে গুদাম তৈরির জন্য ৮৫০ কোটি টাকা বরাদ্দ করা হয়েছে। সমস্ত প্রকল্প শেষ হলে রাজ্যে সুবর্ণযুগ আসবে। বাড়বে বিনিয়োগ।

The Bengal Transport department has introduced the ‘Yatrik’ mobile phone app to help in the easy booking of traditional meter taxis in Kolkata. The app has been developed by the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).

One needs to get registered after downloading the app. Once logged in, the person can type a location to get a taxi. The user will get an SMS containing the taxi number and driver’s details. The payment will be made as per the reading on the meter.

Both yellow and blue-and-white taxis can be hailed through the app. The service has been initiated with 300 taxis. Gradually, all taxis would be made available through the app.

Introduction of the app will immensely support the drivers as it will help them in getting a good business. It will also be beneficial to commuters as there will be no taxi refusal problems.

ট্যাক্সি বুকিংএ এল ‘যাত্রিক’ অ্যাপ

কলকাতার চিরাচরিত হলুদ ট্যাক্সি বা হালফিলের নীল-সাদা ট্যাক্সিকে অনলাইনে বুক করার সুবিধা করে দিল রাজ্য পরিবহণ দপ্তর। বেঙ্গল চেম্বার অফ কমার্স অ্যান্ড ইন্ডাস্ট্রির সহযোগিতায় একটি মোবাইল অ্যাপটি তৈরী করা হয়েছে। এই অ্যাপটির নাম ‘যাত্রিক’।

এই অ্যাপটির উদ্বোধন করে পরিবহণমন্ত্রী বলেন, “ট্যাক্সি সাধারণ মানুষের জন্য খুবই দরকারি। আজকের দিনে অ্যাপ নির্ভর ট্যাক্সির প্রচলন হওয়ার ফলে এই ট্যাক্সিরও প্রযুক্তিগত উন্নয়ন প্রয়োজন। আজকের এই অ্যাপটির ফলে ড্রাইভার ও পরিষেবা প্রদানকারীরা উপকৃত হবেন।”

এই অ্যাপটি ডাউনলোড করার পর ব্যবহারকারীকে রেজিস্টার করতে হবে। লগ ইন করতে ব্যবহারকারীকে নিজের অনেক তথ্য দিতে হবে। একবার লগ ইন হয়ে গেলে, ব্যবহারকারী নিজের জায়গায় ট্যাক্সি খুঁজে নিতে পারবেন।

আপাতত এই অ্যাপের আওতায় আছে নীল-সাদা ও হলুদ ট্যাক্সি মিলিয়ে মোট ৩০০ ট্যাক্সি। এর পর আরও ট্যাক্সিকে এই অ্যাপের আওতায় আনা হবে। এই অ্যাপের মাধ্যমে খুব সহজেই পাওয়া যাবে ট্যাক্সি, তাঁর পর গন্তব্যে পৌঁছে মিটার অনুযায়ী ভাড়া মিটিয়ে দিলেই হবে ও এর ফলে ট্যাক্সি ড্রাইভারদের রিফিউস করাও কমবে।

The Bengal Government has decided to empower 8,000 more youths by December 31, 2017 through its Gatidhara Scheme. Thus many more among the unemployed would find a sustainable source of living.

Through the scheme, the government provides loans on easy instalment basis to enable people to buy cars, small trucks, etc. for commercial use. The State Transport Department, which runs the scheme, has set the deadline of December 31.

Gatidhara Scheme is one of the dream projects of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. So far, 15,700 people have benefitted out of it. This includes the 2,000 who received their sanction letters on September 13.

A target has been set to benefit 10,000 unemployed youth through the Gatidhara Scheme during the financial year 2017-18, for which Rs 94 lakh has been sanctioned. This would be the first time since the scheme was launched during the 2015-16 fiscal that 10,000 people would be benefitted.

It may be recalled that during the 2015-16 fiscal, 5,200 people were benefitted, which rose to 8,500 during the 2016-17.

Under the scheme, the State Government gives a financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to a beneficiary to buy a vehicle. The process of the sanctioning of Rs 1 lakh starts once the road permit is given after an interview at the STA. The beneficiary usually deposits the amount as the initial payment to a bank that provides the rest of the amount as loan for the vehicle that has to be used for commercial purposes.

Moreover, the Transport Department, under the Gatidhara Scheme, has also made it possible to go for online applications to get luxury car permits from the State Transport Authority (STA), making the process of application simpler.

গতিধারা প্রকল্পে বেকার যুবক-যুবতীদের গাড়ি নামানোর আরও বেশী করে সুযোগ করে দিচ্ছে রাজ্য সরকার। আরও ২০০০ বেকার যুবক-যুবতী এই স্কিমে গাড়ি নামানোর অনুমোদনপত্র পেলেন।

পরিবহণমন্ত্রী বলেন, “চেষ্টা চালানো হচ্ছে ডিসেম্বর মাসের মধ্যে ১০ হাজার বেকার যুবক যুবতীকে এই স্কিমের আওতায় স্বনির্ভর করার। আগে আবেদনকারীদের হাতে চেক দেওয়া হত। কিন্তু, এখন সরাসরি ডিলারদের কাছে আবেদনকারীর নামে টাকা চলে যাচ্ছে। এর ফলে বেকার যুবক-যুবতীরা যেমন স্বনির্ভর হচ্ছেন, তেমনই রাস্তায় গাড়ির সংখ্যাও বাড়ছে।”

সম্প্রতি একটি অ্যাপের মাধ্যমে হলুদ ও নীল-সাদা ট্যাক্সি পরিষেবার উদ্বোধন করেন পরিবহণমন্ত্রী। এই অ্যাপের মাধ্যমে বুক করা যাবে সাধারন ট্যাক্সি। পাশাপাশি টাইগার অ্যাপেও হলুদ ট্যাক্সি বুক করার সুবিধা বৃদ্ধি করা হল। এই অ্যাপ চালু হওয়ার সাধারণ যাত্রীদের হলুদ ট্যাক্সি পেতে অনেক সুবিধা হবে।

Muslin weavers of Bengal, who were on the brink of extinction, have got a new lease of life, courtesy Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

In the latest significant stride to boost the sale and marketing of this lush cotton fabric, the government is developing a Muslin Tourism Circuit (MTC) at three places in the state. The West Bengal Khadi and Village Industries Board (WBKVIB) will be organising the tours, with assistance from a private organisation, Society for Kindling Handicrafts and Indigenous Art. In the case of foreign tourists, the Board will also take the assistance of foreign embassies in organising the tours.

The tours will take tourists to the villages of Akalpoush and Sasinara in Bardhaman district and to Berhampore in Mursidabad district to witness the manufacturing of muslin fabric with their own eyes. The village of Baluchar, also in Murshidabad district, which is a hub for silk and baluchari sarees, will also be a part of the circuit. Foreign tourists who would go on tours of Bardhaman and Murshidabad districts will also be taken to these places apart from the conventional tourist destinations.

The project will be formally launched on September 20. According to the chairman of WBKVIB, the MTC will get a big push after Durga Puja ends.

According to a senior official of WBKVIB, another advantage of taking foreigners on the circuit is that, as has been noticed, having a knack for joining hands with weavers in the making of handmade fine fabric, watching the production process on their own will increase their chances of buying the products.

WBKVIB has also created the basic infrastructure of sales outlets, resting rooms, bathroom facilities and restaurants for light tea and snacks at these places for the convenience of both foreign and Indian tourists. The weavers who have lent out their places for setting up these infrastructural facilities will also get a token amount from the Board annually.

From making muslin products available at Biswa Bangla stalls to opening an exclusive outlet named Club Muslin at the Dakshinapan shopping complex to the WBKVIB adopting a scheme for the upliftment of these weavers and taking part in fashion shows, both abroad and here, the Bengal Government has done a lot to revive and popularise this age-old craft.

The Board has also tied up with an NGO that has started selling a wide range of muslin at its outlet at Nazrul Tirtha in New Town, on the outskirts of Kolkata.

 

বাংলার মসলিনকে পর্যটনের অঙ্গ করতে চায় রাজ্য

বাংলার মসলিন কাপড়ের কদর বিশ্বজোড়া। সেই কাপড়কে পর্যটনের অঙ্গ করতে চায় রাজ্য সরকার। এবার তারই উদ্যোগ নিচ্ছে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ খাদি ও গ্রামীণ শিল্প পর্ষদ।

একটি বেসরকারি ট্যুর অপারেটর সংস্থার সঙ্গে গাঁটছড়া বাঁধা হয়েছে, সেই সংস্থা দেশ-বিদেশের অতিথিদের নিয়ে যে প্যাকেজ ট্যুর করায়, তারাই এবার বাংলার মসলিনের ঘাঁটিগুলিকে ঘুরিয়ে দেখাবে। যে বস্ত্র দেশ-বিদেশে সুনাম কুড়িয়েছে, তার উৎপত্তিকে ঘিরে পর্যটকদের উৎসাহ আছে। বিশেষত বিদেশি পর্যটকরা এই বিষয়ে বিশেষ আগ্রহ দেখান। তাই সেই কাজটিই এবার পুরোদমে সারতে চায় দপ্তর, জানিয়েছেন খাদি’র কর্তারা।

মসলিন কাপড়কে আরও জনপ্রিয় করতে খাদি পর্ষদ ক্লাব ‘মসলিন’ নামে একটি ব্র্যান্ড তৈরি করেছে, যা যথেষ্ট সুনাম কুড়িয়েছে। সেই পণ্যকে আরও বেশি প্রচারে আনতেই এই প্যাকেজ ট্যুরের ব্যবস্থা করা হচ্ছে।

কোথায় কোথায় এই ট্যুর করানো হবে সেই তালিকায় যেমন বর্ধমানের অকালপৌষ আছে, তেমনই আছে শশীনাড়া, নবদ্বীপ, কৃষ্ণনগরও আছে। মুর্শিদাবাদের বেশ কয়েকটি জায়গাকে এই পর্যটনে তুলে ধরা হবে। নবাবি আমলের ঐতিহ্য ও ঘরানার স্বাদ দেওয়ার পাশাপাশি এখানে জিয়াগঞ্জ সংলগ্ন অঞ্চলকে মসলিনের ঘাঁটি হিসাবে সামনে আনা হবে।মুর্শিদাবাদের আরও একটি জায়গা ‘বালুচর’কে মসলিনের পীঠস্থান হিসাবে সামনে আনা হবে।

পুজোর কেনাকাটাকে সামনে রেখে কয়েক দিন আগেই খাদি পর্ষদের তরফে একটি ফ্যাশন শো’য়ের আয়োজন করা হয় শহরে। পণ্যের ব্র্যান্ডিংয়ের জন্য এটি একটি অভিনব প্রয়াস।

Commuters in the city will soon be able to travel on pollution-free buses. These buses will run, not on diesel or CNG, but on electricity with the help of rechargeable batteries.

Referred to as ‘electric buses’ by the Transport Department, 25 such vehicles will initially ply in the city on a trial basis. It has been decided that for starters, these buses would be recharged at the various tram depots in the city. Their routes would also be fixed from there.

A Department source said that the West Bengal Transport Corporation has experience in operating electric vehicles. Trams, which have been plying in Kolkata for over a century now, are a primary example. Hence, the electric buses would also have their depots in the tram depots, which already have electrical infrastructure.

It may be pointed out that running electric buses is comparatively much cheaper than running fuel-run buses. They are not just pollution-free from exhaust but also from noise, the levels of which are much less compared to conventional buses. Keeping all these advantages in mind, the Department has decided to go ahead with the pilot project. The number of such buses will be increased later.

 

কলকাতায় চালু হবে ইলেকট্রিক বাস

আর কিছু দিনের মধ্যে শহরের যাত্রীরা এবার দুষণহীন বাসে সফর করতে চলেছেন। কারণ বাসগুলো হবে ব্যাটারিচালিত। এ ধরনের বাসে থাকে রিচার্জেবল ব্যাটারি। আর সেই ব্যাটারির বিদ্যুতেই বাস চলে। পরিবহন দপ্তর এটিকেই বলছে ইলেকট্রিক বাস।

প্রথম দফায় ২৫টি বাস পরীক্ষামূলকভাবে চলবে কলকাতায়। এ ধরনের বাস সাধারণ বাস থেকে আলাদা হয়। প্রাথমিকভাবে ঠিক হয়েছে, কলকাতার ট্রাম ডিপো থেকে এই বাসের রুট তৈরি করা হবে।

দপ্তরের এক সূত্রের বক্তব্য, বিদ্যুৎ চালিত যান চালানোর অভিজ্ঞতা পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পরিবহন নিগমের রয়েছে। বহু বছর ধরেই কলকাতায় চলছে বিদ্যুৎ চালিত ট্রাম। তাই ট্রাম ডিপোগুলোতে বিদ্যুৎ সংক্রান্ত কিছু পরিকাঠামো তৈরিই রয়েছে। এখানেই নয়া বাসের ব্যাটারিগুলো চার্জ দেওয়া যেতে পারে।

ওই সূত্রের কথায়, এ ধরনের বাস চালানোর খরচ তুলনামূলকভাবে অনেক কম এবং এই বাস পরিবেশবান্ধব। এ ধরনের বাস থেকে শব্দও কম হয় এবং খনিজ তেলও লাগে না। সেসব বিবেচনায় এনেই এই বাস চালানোর পরিকল্পনা করা হচ্ছে।

পরবর্তীকালে ইলেকট্রিক বাসের সংখ্যা আরও বাড়ানো হতে পারে বলে পরিবহন মহল সূত্রের খবর।

Kolkata Municipal Development Authority (KMDA) has started a scheme to make Kolkata a more environment-friendly city. The scheme, Taru Mitra, was recently inaugurated at Rabindra Sarovar in Kolkata.

The State Government already has the Sabujshree Scheme, by which mothers of children born in government hospitals are handed a sapling each. The purpose is for the family to take care of the sapling like it would the child, so that after 20 years, when the tree would be fully grown, the wood can be sold to benefit the person, who is now in his or her youth.

KMDA officials said they were very happy with the response to the scheme. On the first day itself, 1,500 people expressed interest in being a part of the scheme.

Gradually, educational institutions and corporate organisations and government offices would be made a part of the scheme. Advertisements would be taken out in newspapers too.

As part of the scheme, people have to adopt a tree or taru. The sapling can be either collected from KMDA or one can plant a tree of one’s choice. The tree would be taken care of by KMDA, for which the adopter has to pay Rs 1,000 per year. The name of the adopter would be engraved on a plaque and placed beside the tree.

In this connection, it should be mentioned that HIDCO has a similar scheme for Rajarhat-New Town, which was started a year back.

 

‘তরু মিত্র’ প্রকল্পের সূচনাতেই মিলল তুমুল সাড়া

ইচ্ছে মতো পচ্ছন্দমাফিক গাছ লাগান -এই লক্ষ্যে পরিকল্পিত ‘তরু মিত্র’ প্রকল্পের সূচনা করা হল। আনুষ্ঠানিক ভাবে প্রকল্পের প্রচারে নামল কেএমডিএ৷

একটি পদযাত্রার মাধ্যমে আবেদন করা হল, নিজের পছন্দ মতো বেছে নিন গাছ৷ দত্তক নিন৷ অথবা গাছ লাগান নিজের পছন্দমাফিক৷ প্রচারের প্রথম দিনেই অনেক মানুষের সাড়া মিলেছে। পরিবেশ সচেতনতা বাড়াতেই এই ব্যবস্থা চালু করা হয়েছে৷

শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান, সরকারি অফিসেও এই আবেদন করা হবে, সংবাদমাধ্যমেও এ ব্যাপারে বিজ্ঞাপন দেওয়া হবে বলে দন্তর সূত্রে ইঙ্গিত মিলেছে৷

কেএমডিএ সূত্রের খবর, পছন্দমতো যে কোনও গাছ দত্তক নেওয়ার জন্য বছরে দিতে হবে এক হাজার টাকা৷ নতুন গাছ লাগানোর ক্ষেত্রেও টাকার অঙ্কটা একই৷ গাছ দত্তক নেওয়া ব্যক্তির নাম ফলকে লেখা থাকবে৷ দন্তরের ওয়েবসাইটেও নাম উল্লেখ থাকবে৷
