Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee urged Dutch coaches to help Bengal produce to produce world class footballers. On Tuesday while addressing a gathering organised by the Royal Netherlands Football Association in Amsterdam on Tuesday, she said there were lakhs of football enthusiasts in West Bengal. “Boys in every block play football as it is affordable. It is a game of commoners and if these boys can be given proper coaching then the standard of football can be improved,” she said.

She said the state government had given special emphasis to promoting sporting activities. “Footballs, jerseys and other sports gear are given to the players and football tournaments are held throughout the year. It is the most popular sport in West Bengal,” she maintained.

She said Kolkata would host the final of under- 17 World Cup football tournaments.” The football grounds are getting the final touches and the final will be played at Yuba Bharati Krirangan in front of 85,000 spectators. The state government is building the infrastructure to host the under 17 world cup matches. “Football is a household game in West Bengal and everywhere you go you find people playing the game. Football is our life,” she said.

She urged John Van Geigen, head of international programme for World Coaches to collaborate with the state government and impart coaching to the youngsters. “Holland has produced some football legends. If we can collaborate then surely we will be able to produce some of the finest players.”

This is for the first time when a chief minister from West Bengal has made an appeal to Dutch football organisers to coach Bengal’s budding youngsters.

 

বিশ্বমানের ফুটবলার গড়তে সাহায্য করুন বাংলাকেঃ মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়

নেদারল্যান্ডস রয়্যাল অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের সঙ্গে এ দিন একটি মউ স্বাক্ষর করেছে রাজ্য সরকার। এই দেশের প্রথম সারির ফুটবলাররা আসবে রাজ্যের খুদে খেলোয়াড়দের প্রশিক্ষণের জন্য। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী চান, ক্রুয়েফ, খুলিত, বাস্তেন, ভ্যান পারসি, রবেন, নিস্তেলরুইদের দেশের সঙ্গে ফুটবল-যোগ গড়ে তুলতে যাতে কলকাতা থেকে খেলোয়াড়দের এখানে পাঠিয়ে প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়া যায়। সে ব্যাপারে দায়িত্ব নেবে রিলাইয়েন্স গোষ্ঠী।

মউ স্বাক্ষর হওয়ার পর এদিন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, “বাঙালী ফুটবল ভুলে যাবে তা কখনোও হতে পারে না। আমাদের রাজ্যে আর কিছুদিনের মধ্যে অনুর্দ্ধ ১৭ ফুটবল বিশ্বকাপ হবে। তার প্রস্তুতি আমরা ইতিমধ্যেই শুরু করে দিয়েছি। যুব ভারতী ক্রীড়াঙ্গনকে ঢেলে সাজানো হচ্ছে। রাজ্যের ফুটবলের উন্নয়নে নেদারল্যান্ডস আমাদের পাশে থাকলে আমরা আরও সহজে উন্নতি করতে পারব”।

ফুটবলের উন্নতিতে রাজ্য সরকার কি কি পদক্ষেপ নিয়েছে এদিন তারও খতিয়ান দেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। তিনি জানান, সরকার থেকে রাজ্যের প্রতিটি ব্লকে ফুটবল প্রতিযোগিতার আয়োজন করা হচ্ছে। ক্লাবগুলিকে বল ও জার্সি দেওয়া হচ্ছে। এছাড়াও সব ধরনের সাহায্য করা হচ্ছে।

আজ নেদারল্যান্ডসে ‘দ্য হেগ ম্যারিয়ট’ হোটেলে শিল্প সম্মেলনে যোগ দেবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। বৈঠকে থাকছেন বাংলার শিল্পপতিরা।  আগামী ২২ জুন রাষ্ট্রসঙ্ঘের সম্মেলন শুরু হবে। ২৩ জুন বিশ্বের অন্যান্য দেশের মন্ত্রীদের একটি সভায় বক্তৃতা দেবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

Mangoes are now being grown in places in Bengal which are not known to be mango-growing regions. This effort by the State Government is helping a lot of people to make a proper living.

The State Government has started these projects as part of the 100 Days’ Work Scheme, in which Bengal has been acknowledged as a leader multiple times in multiple categories by the Central Government.

Villagers who till now were mostly engaged in work like cutting canals and digging wells are now turning into mango growers. Self-help groups (SHGs) have been formed in many villages for the purpose.

Due to these projects, the dry districts of Bankura, Birbhum and Purulia, and Jhargram, are turning into major mango-producing regions. Some of the best varieties of mango like amrapali, mallika and lyangra are being cultivated in these places.

In fact, recently, at mango fests organised by the State Government in Kolkata, mangoes from these regions were a major hit. People were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fruits.

The land on which the orchards are being planted have been taken on lease for 25 years by the State. Of the profits, 25 per cent goes to the land owners, 65 per cent to the self-help groups and 10 per cent to the local panchayats.

 

রাজ্য সরকারের উদ্যোগে একশো দিনের কাজের তালিকায় আম চাষ

যেসব অঞ্চলে কখনও আমের ফলন হত না, সেসব অঞ্চলের এখন আশাতীত ভাবে হচ্ছে আমের ফলন। দিব্যি ফলছে আম্রপালী, মল্লিকা, ল্যাংড়া। এর পেছনে রয়েছে স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠী। এর ফলে সেই সব অঞ্চলের মানুষরা হয়েছেন স্বনির্ভর।

রাজ্য সরকার এই প্রকল্পকে ১০০দিনের কাজের আওতায় এনেছে। আর ১০০ দিনের কাজে দেশের মধ্যে বহু মাপকাঠিতে ও বহুবার সেরা হয়েছে বাংলাই।

আগে যেসকল শ্রমজীবী মানুষ ১০০ দিনের কাজের আওতায় কুয়ো বা খাল খনন করতেন, তারাই এখন হয়ে উঠেছেন আমচাষী। এই বাবদ অনেক জেলায় অনেক স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠী গড়ে উঠেছে।

এই প্রকল্পের সৌজন্যে শুষ্ক জেলা যেমন বাঁকুড়া, বীরভূম, পুরুলিয়া, ঝাড়গ্রাম আসতে আসতে হয়ে উঠেছে আম ফলনকারী জেলা।
রাজ্য সরকারের উদ্যোগে সাম্প্রতিককালে সারা রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন প্রজাতির কলকাতায় যে আমের ও আমজাত খাদ্যদ্রব্যের মেলা হল, তা ব্যাপক জনপ্রিয়তা অর্জন করেছে। মেলায় আগত মানুষরা আশান্বিত ভাবে খুশি আমের গুনমান নিয়ে।

যেসকল জমিতে আমচাষ হচ্ছে, সেসব জমি ২৫ বছরের জন্য লিজ নেওয়া হয়েছে। চুক্তি হয়েছে, জমি-মালিক পাবে ফলনের ২৫%। ১০% দিতে হবে পঞ্চায়েতকে। বাকি ৬৫% পাবে স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠী।

Calculations by the Bengal Transport Department have shown that the Pathadisha app and the transport card – both initiatives by the State Government – have resulted in increased popularity and hence, earnings for the Government-run AC buses.

The Pathadisha app has enabled people to know the real-time location of the buses, therefore, they now know exactly how long to wait or when to leave home. Therefore, more people are availing of the buses. The transport card has helped too, as people no longer need to have ready cash.

Both the initiatives are first-of-its-kind initiatives by the Bengal Government, and people are benefitting a lot. Because of the intense summer, more and more people are travelling on these buses.

Currently, CSTC runs 234 AC buses, earning from which in May 2017 stood at Rs 4,77,79,000, up from Rs 4,13,75,000 in April 2017, which was an improvement too from the previous month’s Rs 3,55,83,000, which combine to Rs 12,47,37,000. The earning from the same three months in 2016 was Rs 10,50,59,000. Therefore, there has been an increase of 18.37 per cent.

The department has further plans to improve on the aspects which have led to this increase in earnings.

অ্যাপ ও ট্রান্সপোর্ট কার্ডের দৌলতে সরকারি এসি বাস থেকে আয় বাড়ছে

সরকারের এসি বাসে টিকিট বিক্রি বাড়িয়ে দিয়েছে অ্যাপ এবং ট্রান্সপোর্ট কার্ড। চলতি গরমে এসি বাসগুলি থেকে আয় কত হল, তা নিয়ে গত কয়েকদিন ধরে হিসাব চলছিল পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পরিবহণ নিগমে।
নিগম সূত্রে জানা গিয়েছে, গত মার্চ থেকে তুলনামূলকভাবে প্রতি মাসেই বেড়েছে এসি বাসের আয়। এবারের গরমে মোট আয় গত বছরের থেকেও অনেকটাই বেশী।

পথদিশা অ্যাপ চালু এবং ট্রান্সপোর্ট কার্ডের জনপ্রিয়তা বাড়তে থাকাতেই গরমে এসি বাসের আয়ের গ্রাফ ঊর্ধ্বমুখী বলে মনে করছেন কর্তাদের অনেকেই।অ্যাপের মাধ্যমে বাসের খবর যাত্রীরা আগাম জানতে পারায় সরকারি বাসের উপরে নির্ভরতা বেড়েছে আরও। তাতে বেড়েছে যাত্রী সংখ্যাও। তারই প্রভাব পড়েছে আয়ের উপরে।

গত মার্চ মাসে এসি বাসগুলি থেকে মোট আয় হয়েছে ৩কোটি ৫৫লক্ষ ৮৩হাজার টাকা। এপ্রিল মাসের হিসেবে দেখা যাচ্ছে, বাসগুলি থেকে আয় বেড়ে হয়েছে ৪ কোটি ১৩লক্ষ ৭৫হাজার টাকা। মে মাসে এসি বাসগুলি থেকে আয় বেড়েছে আরও। ওই মাসে এই খাতে মোট ৪কোটি ৭৭লক্ষ ৭৯হাজার টাকা আয় হয়েছে। সব মিলিয়ে চলতি গরমে শুধু এসি বাস থেকেই মোট আয় হয়েছে ১২কোটি ৪৭লক্ষ ৩৭হাজার টাকা।

গত বছরের তুলনায় এ বছর এসি বাসের সংখ্যায় কোনও হেরফের হয়নি। তা সত্ত্বেও গত বছরের গরমের তিন মাসের তুলনায় এবার আয় অনেকটাই বেড়েছে। গত বছরে এই তিন মাসে মোট আয় হয়েছিল ১০কোটি ৫০লক্ষ ৫৯হাজার টাকা অর্থাৎ শতাংশের হিসাবে এবারে আয় বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে ১৮.৩৭ শতাংশ।

প্রসঙ্গত, গত মার্চ মাসের মাঝামাঝি সময়ে বিশেষ এই অ্যাপটির সূচনা করেছিলেন পরিবহণমন্ত্রী শুভেন্দু অধিকারী। অ্যাপ ছাড়াও ট্রান্সপোর্ট কার্ড চালু করাকেও আয়বৃদ্ধির অন্যতম কারণ হিসাবে দেখা হচ্ছে। গত মার্চ মাস থেকে নয়া কার্ড চালু হয়ে যাওয়া এবং ক্রমে তার জনপ্রিয়তা বৃদ্ধি পাওয়াও এসি বাসের আয়বৃদ্ধির অন্যতম কারণ।

The Bengal Government is starting another social scheme – Bharsa – to create a pool of professional care-givers for senior citizens of the State. The scheme would be implemented through the State Women and Child Welfare Department.

As part of the scheme, youths would be given training as care-givers for the aged. The four-month training programmes would start from coming July.

The fundamental idea behind the scheme is the fact that young men and women as friends-cum-care-givers are much more appealing to the aged. The training would focus on the care and health management as well as on the aspect of developing empathy for senior citizens.

In the initial batch, 50 people would be provided the training to become professional care-giving. Importantly, keeping in view the security of senior citizens, all those to be provided training would have to undergo a thorough police verification.

 

বয়স্ক বাবা-মায়েদের পরিচর্যায় রাজ্য সরকারের নতুন প্রকল্প ‘ভরসা’

বয়স্ক বাবা-মায়েদের পরিচর্যায় নতুন মানবিক প্রকল্প আনতে চলেছে মা মাটি মানুষের সরকার । নতুন প্রকল্পের নামকরণ করা হয়েছে ‘ভরসা’।

এই প্রকল্পের অভিনবত্ব হল বয়স্কদের যত্ন নেওয়ার জন্য যুবক-যুবতীদের বিশেষ প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়া হবে। এই প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়ার কাজ শুরু হবে আগামী জুলাইয়ের শুরু থেকেই।

এই প্রশিক্ষণের পেছনে মৌলিক ধারণা হল, বয়স্কদের কাছে যুবকদের বন্ধু হিসেবে গড়ে তোলা। বয়স্কদের বিশেষ চিকিৎসাগত পরিষেবা, যত্ন এবং সহানুভূতি সম্পর্কেও বিশেষ প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়া হবে যুবকদের।

নারী ও শিশু কল্যাণ দপ্তর সূত্রে খবর, আপাতত চার মাসের এই বিশেষ প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়া হবে। ৫০জনকে প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়া হবে দুটি ব্যাচে। যারা প্রশিক্ষণ নেবেন, তাঁরা অবশ্যই পুলিশ ভেরিফিকেশনের পরে অংশ গ্রহণ করতে পারবেন।

State Food and Supplies department will start distributing wheat among beneficiaries under the food security scheme from July.

Wheat will be procured after floating a tender. It is expected that the processes of distributing wheat will be started from July. The department has decided to distribute wheat as it has a demand among the people

Meanwhile, ration shops are being set up at Dooars of North Bengal. In the first, phase ration shops will be set up at 126 locations. The state Food and Supplies mMinisterJyotipriya Mullick has recently held a meeting at Uttarkanya in Siliguri in this regard.

The Bengal government had decided to distribute free ration to mothers with newborn babies across the state so that they do not suffer from malnourishment and for this, the department will distribute coupons to around 30,000 mothers across the state. The department has also chalked out a detailed plan to bring more number of pregnant women under the scheme. Mothers can now show the coupons at ration shops where they will be supplied with rice, wheat, gram and lentils. They would be given the coupons at the time when the leave the government hospitals or sub-centres, after their deliveries. One of the main purpose of this initiative was to bring down malnutrition.

The department has already instructed the ration shops to provide five kg of rice, 2.5 kg of wheat and 1 kg of lentil every month to the mothers against the coupons.

 

খাদ্য সাথী প্রকল্পের আওতাভুক্তদের গম বিতরণ করবে রাজ্য সরকার

আগামী জুলাই মাস থেকে খাদ্য সাথী প্রকল্পের আওতাভুক্তদের গম বিতরণ করবে রাজ্য খাদ্য ও সরবরাহ দপ্তর।

একটি টেন্ডারের পরই এই প্রক্রিয়া শুরু হবে। আশা করা হচ্ছে যে জুলাই থেকে এই প্রক্রিয়া শুরু হয়ে যাবে। জনসাধারণের মধ্যে চাহিদা আছে বলে দপ্তর এই গম বিতরণ করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে। উত্তরবঙ্গের ডুয়ার্সেও রেশন দোকান গড়ে তোলা হচ্ছে। প্রথম দফায়, ১২৬ টি জায়গায় রেশন দোকান হবে। সম্প্রতি এই নিয়ে শিলিগুড়ির উত্তরকন্যায় একটি বৈঠক করেন খাদ্য ও সরবরাহ মন্ত্রী জ্যোতিপ্রিয় মল্লিক।

এদিকে, উত্তর বঙ্গের ডুয়ার্সে রাশির দোকান চালু করা হচ্ছে। প্রথমত, ১২৬ টি স্থানে ফেজ রাশির দোকান স্থাপন করা হবে। রাজ্য খাদ্য ও সরবরাহ মন্ত্রী জ্যোতিপ্রিয় মুলিক সম্প্রতি শিলিগুড়িের উত্তরাণকানায় একটি বৈঠক করেছেন।

রাজ্যের নবজাতক শিশুরা যাতে অপুষ্টির শিকার না হয় তাই ফ্রি রেশন দেওয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে রাজ্য সরকার। প্রায় ৩০ হাজার মায়েদের এই কুপন দেওয়া হবে।

এই স্কিমের অধীনে গর্ভবতী মহিলাদের আনারও পরিকল্পনা করা হচ্ছে। ওই কুপনগুলি রেশন দোকানে দেখালেই তাদেরকে চাল, গম, ডাল সরবরাহ করা হবে। প্রসবের পর সরকারি হাসপাতাল থেকে ছুটির দিন মায়েদের এই কুপনগুলি দেওয়া হবে।

দপ্তরের নির্দেশে কুপনের পরিবর্তে রেশন দোকানগুলি প্রতি মাসে ৫ কেজি চাল, ২.৫ কেজি গম এবং ১ কেজি ডাল  দেবে।

The Bengal Government is organising Aam Mela in New Delhi. It started on June 16 and would continue till June 30.

Last year it was a big hit and so, the Government is aiming to double the sales this year – from 20,000 kg or 20 tonnes to 40,000 kg or 40 tonnes.

This year, most of the mangoes being sold at the fair have been sourced from Malda district, including some of the most well-known varieties like himsagar, langra and laxmanbhoig. New varieties of mango are also available at the fair – like the chatujje-mukhujje and sarikhas from Hooghly district.

 

দিল্লিতে শুরু হল রাজ্যের আম মেলা

গতবারের তুলনায় দ্বিগুণ বিক্রির লক্ষ্যমাত্রা নিয়ে আজ থেকে দিল্লিতে শুরু হল পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার আয়োজিত ‘আম মেলা’। চলবে আগামী ৩০ জুন পর্যন্ত।

উল্লেখ্য, গতবারের মেলায় প্রায় ২০ টন (২০ হাজার কেজি) আম বিক্রি করেছিল রাজ্য। এবার ৪০ হাজার কেজি আম বিক্রির লক্ষ্যমাত্রা নেওয়া হয়েছে। এবারের মেলায় মালদহ থেকেই সবথেকে বেশি আম এসেছে।

মেলায় উপস্থিত মালদহ জেলার ভারপ্রাপ্ত উপ-কৃষি অধিকর্তা (ফল) রাহুল চক্রবর্তী বলেন, আপাতত আমরা সাড়ে তিন টন আম এনেছি। সব মিলিয়ে মালদহ জেলা থেকে প্রায় ২০ টন আম আনার পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে। হুগলি জেলার চাটুজ্জে-মুখুজ্জে, সরিখাসের মতো বিভিন্ন নয়া প্রজাতির আম এই মেলা আলো করে থাকলেও প্রাধান্য রয়েছে হিমসাগর, ল্যাংড়া, লক্ষ্মণভোগ ইত্যাদি আমেরও।

The Bengal Government is soon going to launch the first organ bank in the eastern region.

A seven-storey purpose-built building is almost complete inside the SSKM Hospital campus. The Health Department is spending a total of Rs 142 lakh.

The organ bank at SSKM would function as both the Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO) and the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO).

This bank would play a major role in the coming days in preserving organs, including of brain-dead persons.

 

অঙ্গ সংরক্ষণ ব্যাঙ্ক চালু হতে চলেছে রাজ্যে

পূর্ব ভারতের প্রথম অঙ্গ সংরক্ষণ ব্যাঙ্ক চালু হতে চলেছে এ রাজ্যে। এসএসকেএম হাসপাতালে এই অঙ্গ সংরক্ষণ ব্যাঙ্ক তৈরীর জন্য সাততলা ভবনের কাজ প্রায় শেষের পথে। এই ব্যাঙ্কটি পুরোদমে চালু হলে আগামী দিনে কোনও ব্রেন ডেড ব্যাক্তির অঙ্গ সংরক্ষণ করে রাখা যাবে অনেকদিন।

বৃহস্পতিবার স্বাস্থ্যভবনে অঙ্গদান ও প্রতিস্থাপন নিয়ে এক সচেতনতামূলক অনুষ্ঠানে একথা জানিয়েছেন রাজ্যের অতিরিক্ত স্বাস্থ্য অধিকর্তা। এসএসকেএমে অঙ্গ সংরক্ষণ ব্যাঙ্ক চালু হলে হার্ট থেকে শুরু করে অন্যান্য সমস্ত অঙ্গই সংরক্ষণ করা যাবে.

এর পাশাপাশি এসএসকেএমে তৈরী হবে রিজিওনাল এবং স্টেট অর্গ্যান অ্যান্ড টিস্যু ট্রান্সপ্ল্যান্ট অর্গানাইজেশন (রোটো এবং সোটো)।

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will address the Public Service Day of United Nations on June 22 at The Hague in The Netherlands.

She is the first Chief Minister from India to address a gathering on the occasion. She is scheduled to leave for Netherlands on Monday morning. “The Future is Now: Accelerating Public Service Innovation for Agenda 2030” is the theme of the 2017 UN Public Service Forum and the Chief Minister will be speaking on this subject.

After Mamata Banerjee became the Chief Minister of Bengal, the state government, under her leadership, had undertaken several projects that benefitted the masses at a large scale and ensured an overall development of the state. The Bengal Chief Minister had introduced several pathbreaking schemes including Kanyashree, Sabuj Sathi, Yuvashree, Aloshree and Sasthya Sathi among others for the benefit of the people in general.

Around 500 dignitaries from different countries will be present in the programme when the Chief Minister addresses it. Dr Amit Mitra, the state Commerce and Industry minister, will be accompanying her.

আগামী ২২ জুন রাষ্ট্রপুঞ্জের আমন্ত্রণে নেদারল্যান্ডসের হেগে বক্তব্য রাখবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।

সম্প্রতি রাষ্ট্রপুঞ্জের এই সম্মান বাংলার কাছে অন্যতম। দেশের অন্য কোনও মুখ্যমন্ত্রী যা আগে পাননি। আজ সকালে তিনি রওনা হন। আগামী ২২ ও ২৩ জুন ওয়ার্ল্ড অডিটোরিয়ামে রাষ্ট্রসঙ্ঘে ‘পাবলিক সার্ভিস ডে, ২০১৭’ অনুষ্ঠানটি হবে। অনুষ্ঠানটির ফোকাল থিম ‘দ্য ফিউচার ইজ নাও’।

২০১১ সালে ক্ষমতায় আসার পর কন্যাশ্রীর মতো প্রকল্প চালু করেছেন তিনি। এরই মধ্যে ইউনেস্কো থেকে কন্যাশ্রীকে স্বীকৃতিও দেওয়া হয়েছে। পাশাপাশি মমতা সবুজসাথী, সবুজশ্রী, শিক্ষাশ্রী, যুবশ্রী প্রকল্প চালু করেছেন।

গোটা পৃথিবী থেকে প্রায় ৫০০ গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ব্যাক্তি এই অনুষ্ঠানে যোগ দেবেন। আলোচনার বিষয়বস্তু হল নাগরিকদের কীভাবে সরকার সুবিধা প্রদান করে। মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর সঙ্গে যাচ্ছেন অর্থমন্ত্রী অমিত মিত্র।

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today spoke at a programme organised by the Jain community at Netaji Indoor Stadium, to commemorate the arrival here of Acharya Shri Mahashraman, the eleventh Acharya of the Terapanth Dharma Sangha.

The Acharya would be here for four months, which, Mamata Banerjee said, would also give her an opportunity to meet him. She wished a long life for him, and for him “to continue to show the path of non-violence”.

During her speech, she stressed on the importance of working with everyone, forsaking violence and differences, and said that only such a person can be called a true human being.

She said, “I am happy to see that in this function people from every religion are present”.

“A universal religious system is one that shows the true path to everyone”, she continued. “Following a religion implies understanding the difference between the good, the bad and the fact. Religion also implies belief, dependability, dedication, determination and devotion”.

Referring to her habit of walking long distances, she said, “Like the Jain monks, I too like to walk long distances – and that requires a lot of determination”.

She also said, “Bengal has an important position in terms of geographical location, history, religion and politics”.

She ended by wishing the best for everyone.

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tore into the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) supporters, stating that they aren’t listening to the court, even after it had passed an order citing the bandh was “illegal”.

“The board members of the State have formed a committee assuring that peace will prevail in the Hills as it will be their first priority to work on. The GJM supporters aren’t listening to the court, even after it had passed an order citing the bandh as illegal. I don’t know where they are getting the support from”.

She also sad that the “police did not fire”, but it was the protesters who fired.

Mamata Banerjee alleged that this violence was a “conspiracy” and that it had to stop, and that “the whole country is getting a bad name” because of the mindless violence by the protesters. However, she said, “the law will take its own course; we do not support vandalism and hooliganism”.

She added, “When the elections are nearing, why are they indulging in violence? Is it because they have lost all their credentials? I am ready to talk to them on this matter as we cannot support violation of the Constitution. The duty of a political party is to protect democracy”.

“We want peace and development in the Hills” while the protesters “have closed everything down”. She said that maintaining law and order was the responsibility of her Government. “We are the protectors of the Constitution; we will work courageously”.

She stressed the fact that the Government “always was and would always will be with the people of the Hills”.

Mamata Banerjee firmly hoped, “Let the bandh in the Hills come to an end; let peace return”.

She also announced that there will be an all-party meeting in Siliguri on June 22.

পাহাড়ের বিষয় নিয়ে নবান্নে সাংবাদিক বৈঠক করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।

তিনি বলেন, “পাহাড়ের শান্তি ও উন্নয়নের জন্য যেসব উন্নয়ন পর্ষদ আছে তাদের সঙ্গে আজ বৈঠক হয়েছে, ওনারা একটি কমিটি গঠন করেছেন পাহাড়ের শান্তির জন্য এটা গর্বের কথা। যা যা হচ্ছে এটা ষড়যন্ত্র। এসব অস্ত্র একদিনে আসছে না, অনেক দিন ধরে এসব জমা হয়েছে। পাহাড়কে এতদিন পিছিয়ে নিয়ে গেছে, এত টাকা অস্ত্র কোথা থেকে এল?”

তিনি দুঃখ প্রকাশ করে বলেন, “আমাদের জওয়ান কিরণ তামাং কে ওরা মেরেছে, উনিও পাহাড়ের বাসিন্দা, আমরা shocked। গতকাল হাই কোর্ট বলেছে এই বনধ বেআইনি, কিন্তু ওরা মানছে না। আমাদের অনেক মিডিয়া বন্ধুদের কিডন্যাপ করেছে, ওরাও বিপদের মধ্যে রয়েছে। ওরা এখন জাতীয় পতাকা ব্যবহার করছে গুণ্ডামির জন্য। জাতীয় পতাকা আমাদের গর্ব, ওরা তাতে বোম ছুড়তে পারে না। পুলিশের গাড়ি, হাসপাতাল, পঞ্চায়েত অফিস জ্বালিয়ে দিয়েছে, জল সরবরাহ বন্ধ করে দিয়েছে। মিডিয়াদের ব্ল্যাকমেল করছে, ওরা কোথা থেকে এত strength পাচ্ছে?”

পর্যটকদের দুরবস্থার ব্যাপারে তিনি বলেন, “বিভিন্ন জায়গা থেকে আসা পর্যটক এখন বিপদে রয়েছেন। জোর করে ওরা বিদেশী পর্যটকদের বের করে দিচ্ছে, এটা ওরা করতে পারে না। ওদের সাহায্য করা আমাদের কর্তব্য।”

পাহাড়ের বাসিন্দাদের ব্যাপারে তিনি বলেন, “স্কুল-কলেজ, পরিবহন, দোকানপাট সব বন্ধ, রেশন না পেলে খাবার কি করে পাবে মানুষ? আমরা সমগ্র রাজ্যের মানুষকে খাবার দিই।”

বিচ্ছিন্নতাবাদীদের উদ্দেশ্যে তিনি বলেন, “৫ বছরে কি কাজ করেছে ওরা? যখন নির্বাচন আসছে তখন ওরা violence করছে, কারণ ওরা বিশ্বাসযোগ্যতা হারিয়েছে। রাজনৈতিক দলের কাজ গণতন্ত্রকে রক্ষা করা, কারো ওপর গুলি চালানো ওদের কাজ নয়। আইন আইনের পথে চলবে, আমরা vandalism, hooliganism সমর্থন করি না। আমরাও আন্দোলন করেছি, কিন্তু এভাবে নয়। Terrorist দের সঙ্গে এর যোগাযোগ রয়েছে, আমরা গোয়েন্দা সূত্রে জানতে পেরেছি। যারা গুণ্ডামি করছে তাদের পাহাড়ের লোক চায় না।”

সবাইকে সতর্ক করে তিনি বলেন, “এই সব ব্যাপারে আমাদের দেশের বদনাম হচ্ছে, এই ষড়যন্ত্রের শেষ হওয়া দরকার। মিথ্যে বলছে, ওদের কথা শুনবেন না। পাহাড় আপনার অধিকার, পাহাড়ের শান্তি, আইন শৃঙ্খলা বজায় রাখুন। ওরা পাহাড়কে ধ্বংস করছে, বিক্রি করে দিচ্ছে। আমরা পাহাড়ের শান্তি, উন্নয়ন চাই, আজ ওরা সব বন্ধ করে দিয়েছে। এটা খুব serious বিষয়, আমরা এটা প্রতিরোধ করছি। ৮ তারিখ আমাদের ওপর আক্রমণের পরিকল্পনা করেছিল।”

তিনি সকলকে আশ্বস্ত করে বলেন, “২২ তারিখ শিলিগুড়িতে পাহাড়ে সর্ব দলীয় বৈঠক হবে। GJM রাজনৈতিক দল হলে আমরা ওদের সাথে আলোচনা করতাম। কিন্তু ওরা সংবিধান মেনে চলে না। আমরা সংবিধানের রক্ষক এবং আমরা সংবিধানের পথে চলি। আমরা পাহাড়ের সাথে ছিলাম, আছি, থাকব। পাহাড়কে সাহায্য করার জন্য, শান্তি রক্ষার জন্য যা যা দরকার আমরা করব। পাহাড়ের বনধ বন্ধ হোক, শান্তি ফিরে আসুক। আমরা সংবিধানের রক্ষক, আমরা সাহসিকতার সঙ্গে সব কাজ করব।”

যে গুজব ছড়ান হচ্ছে, সে ব্যাপারে সতর্ক করে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, “পুলিশ গুলি চালায়নি, ওরা নিজেরা গুলি চালিয়েছে।”

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী জানান ২২ তারিখ শিলিগুড়িতে সর্ব দলীয় বৈঠক হবে।
