The mini-state secretariat for north Bengal, Uttar Kanya completed its second year today.

On January 20, 2014, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had inaugurated the mini-state secretariat for north Bengal in Siliguri, in a bid to expedite development in the region and remove bottlenecks in governance.

“Uttar Kanya” is our sweet gift to meet the long-standing demand of the people of North Bengal, West Bengal Chief Minister had said. As soon as our Government came to power, we had taken a decision to set up a Branch Secretariat of the State Government in North Bengal, as people from these far-flung places had to come to Kolkata for many important works, Mamata Banerjee said.

Here are some initiatives taken by the Government for North Bengal:

  • Construction work of Multi Disciplinary Civil Defence Centre at Hathighisa, Naxalbari has been completed and has been handed over to Civil Defence Department.
  • The construction of three new major roads in Uttar Dinajpur District viz.,
  1. of road from Churamohan to Lalganj
  2. of road from Baitola to Joyhat
  3. of road from Barodighighat to Lalganj

taken up by the Department have been completed.

  • Construction work of alternate road from Siliguri to Jalpaiguri via Eastern Bypass – Sahudangi – Ambari Falakata-Belacoba- Gosala-3 no. Ghumti has been completed.
  • Construction of RCC bridge over river Sahu at Kholachand Fafri village, Salugara, Jalpaiguri, has been completed.
  • Construction of RCC bridge over river Sahu at Choto Fafri village, Salugara, Jalpaiguri, has been completed.
  • Up-gradation & renovation works of Dinbandhu Mancha at Siliguri has been completed.
  • The construction of Bhutni bridge (1.8 Km long) at Manikchak, Malda has been taken up.
  • Construction of bridge over river Kaljani in Coochbehar has commenced.
  • Construction of 2 new Govt. Colleges (Banarhat (Hindi) and Chopra) is complete, while 3 new Govt. Colleges (Dhupguri, Ghoksadanga and Nishiganj) are in final stages of completion.
  • Extension works of Rajganj College, Baxirhat College and Dewanhat College have been completed.
  • Development of Fathema and Mary Gorethi Schools at Birpara, Jalpaiguri has been completed

 

উত্তরবঙ্গের মিনি সচিবালয় ‘উত্তরকন্যার’ দ্বিতীয় বর্ষপূর্তি আজ

উত্তরবঙ্গ সচিবালয় ‘উত্তরকন্যার’ আজ দুই বছর সম্পূর্ণ হল।

২০১৪ সালের ২০ জানুয়ারি পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শ্রীমতী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় শিলিগুড়িতে উত্তরকন্যার উদ্বোধন করেন।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, উত্তরবঙ্গের মানুষের বহুদিনের দাবি ছিল এই সচিবালয়, তাই উত্তরকন্যা হল তাদের মিষ্টি উপহার। আমাদের সরকার ক্ষমতায় আসার পরই সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছিল যে উত্তরবঙ্গে রাজ্য সরকারের একটি শাখা সচিবালয় তৈরি করা হবে যাতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কাজের জন্যও উত্তরবঙ্গের লোকেদের আর কলকাতায় ছুতে আসতে না হয়।

Congress is CPI(M)’s ‘B’ team in the state and in Delhi it is vice versa, Trinamool Youth Congress President and MP Abhishek Banerjee said. He was addressing a meeting of party activists at Garbeta in Paschim Medinipur.

The TMYC President has been holding meeting in the districts at a stretch and Tuesday’s meeting saw a huge gathering making it a mass rally.

Abhishek laid stress on the developmental wave undertaken by the State Government under Ms Mamata Banerjee and asked people to see for themselves the change that has taken place within a space of four years.

The TMYC President pointed out that Garbeta had been suffered under the dictator-like rule by the CPM.  Mamata Banerjee had realised that to bring back democracy in Bengal, it was necessary to oust the CPM and as a result, Trinamool Congress was born in 1998, he said. He pointed out that the oppressed people of Paschim Medinipur had answered the call of Mamata Banerjee and driven out the Left from the Paschim Medinipur district in a democratic way.

The young Trinamool MP pointed out that what the Trinamool-led Government in Bengal could do in four years, the Left government did not achieve 10% of that in 34 years.

 

কংগ্রেস হল সিপিএমের বি-টিম: গড়বেতায় বললেন অভিষেক বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়

মঙ্গলবার পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুরের গড়বেতায় একটি জনসভায় উপস্থিত ছিলেন যুব কংগ্রেসের সভাপতি অভিষেক বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। সভামঞ্চে তিনি বলেন, ‘এ রাজ্যে কংগ্রেস সিপিএমের ‘বি-টিম’ এবং দিল্লিতে সিপিএম কংগ্রেসের’।

গত মঙ্গলবার যুব কংগ্রেসের সভাপতির এই জনসভায় বিপুল জনসমাগম হয়েছিল।

গত ৪ বছরে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের অধীনে রাজ্য সরকার দ্বারা গৃহীত উন্নয়নমূলক কাজগুলির কথাও উল্লেখ করেন। তিনি বলেন, ‘সিপিএমের স্বৈরাচারী শাসনের স্বীকার হয়েছিল গড়বেতা’।

এদিন অভিষেক বলেন, ‘মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় বুঝেছিলেন যে বাংলায় গণতন্ত্র প্রতিষ্ঠা করতে গেলে বাংলাকে সিপিএমের অপসাশনকে মুক্ত করতে হবে। তাই তিনি ১৯৯৮ সালে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস তৈরি করেছিলেন। পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুরের নিপীড়িত মানুষ মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের ডাকে সারা দিয়ে গণতান্ত্রিক পদ্ধতিতে পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুরকে সিপিএম মুক্ত করেছেন’।

তিনি আরও বলেন, ‘তৃণমূল সরকার গত ৪ বছরে যা কাজ করেছে গত ৩৪ বছরে সিপিএম তার ১০ শতাংশও করতে পারেনি’।

The West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation (WBTDC) is working on plans to launch houseboat services at different places in the Sunderbans and in the creeks from the Hooghly in East Midnapore district to boost back water tourism in West Bengal, based on the model of Kerala.

The West Bengal Chief inister Mamata Banerjee has been giving stress to develop tourism infrastructure across the state. The State tourism department has been working to identify new places and boost the infrastructure at existing tourism spots.

WBTDC is expected to procure eight maintenance-free fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) house boats for the Sunderbans and the water bodies East Midnapore district. The house boats should comprise of two bed rooms with attached bath and toilet facilities along with a conference room with sitting arrangements for 20 persons. A bar, kitchen, restaurant, lounge and four bedded rooms along with an open space will al so be available onboard.

The objective is to provide the house boats and bring upon a Kerala like house boat model.

The WBTDC authorities are working on the process to invite online bids from reputed house boat fabricators for drawing, design, development, fabrication and delivery of the house boats. The firm who will be selected for the job will need to obtain the drawing and design approval and the necessary clearances for fabrication of the house boats from government agencies and departments concerned.

A proposal for financial approval has also been sent to the Centre for procuring two cruisers on the Hooghly River. The plan is to have budget category cruise tourism on the Hooghly. The concept is that the tourists should be able to visit the heritage sites along the river side.

The tourism department is also working on the tourism circuit plan stretching from Jangalmahal area to Sagar islands.

 

সুন্দরবনে ‘হাউস বোট’ পরিষেবা চালু করতে চলেছে রাজ্য সরকার

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পর্যটন নিগম পশ্চিমবঙ্গের জলপথ ভ্রমণ আরও জনপ্রিয় করতে সুন্দরবন ও পূর্ব মেদিনীপুরের হুগলী নদীর খারি থেকে ‘হাউস বোট’ চালু করার পরিকল্পনা নিয়েছে।

মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শ্রীমতী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় সারা রাজ্যের পর্যটন শিল্পের ওপর জোর দিচ্ছেন। রাজ্য পর্যটন বিভাগ পর্যটনের নতুন স্থান খোঁজা এবং পর্যটন স্থান গুলিকে আরও আকর্ষণীয় করে তোলার ওপর কাজ করছে।

সুন্দরবন ও পূর্ব মেদিনীপুরের জলপথের জন্য পর্যটন নিগম ৮ টি বিশেষ ফাইবার সম্বলিত প্লাস্টিক হাউস বোট কিনতে চলেছে। হাউস বোট গুলিতে ২ টি শোবার ঘর, বাথরুম, এবং ২০ জনের বসার একটি ঘরের ব্যবস্থা থাকবে। বার, রান্নাঘর, রেস্টুরেন্ট এবং ৪ টি শোবার ঘর সহ একটি খোলা জায়গার ব্যবস্থা ও থাকবে বোট গুলিতে।

কেরালার আদলে হাউস বোট টি তৈরির করার পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে।

হুগলি নদীর ওপর ২টি প্রমোদতরি তৈরির আর্থিক অনুমোদন চেয়ে একটি অনুরোধ পত্রও পাঠানো হয়েছে কেন্দ্রের কাছে। কম খরচেও যাত্রীরা এই বোটে ভ্রমণ করতে পারবেন। পর্যটকরা যাতে নদীর পাড় থেকেই ঐতিহ্যপূর্ণ জায়গাগুলি পরিদর্শন করতে পারে এটাই মূল উদ্দেশ্য।

রাজ্যের পর্যটন বিভাগ জঙ্গলমহল থেকে সাগর দীঘি পর্যন্ত ট্যুরিজম সার্কিট পরিকল্পনার ওপর কাজ করছে।

After bicycles for school students, it’s shoes. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee played Santa Claus on Tuesday when she spotted some school students without shoes, on her way from Burdwan to Bolpur.

She immediately called education minister Partha Chatterjee and asked him to arrange for shoes to primary school students in a week. The state government has been distributing free books to students and recently announced that Madhyamik students would receive free test papers.

The state has 100 per cent mid-day meal coverage and has achieved 99% coverage of toilets in schools already.

School infrastructure has grown apace during the last few years. A lot of new schools (primary, upper primary), integrated schools (class 1 to 12) and model schools in backward blocks have been taken up.

Gaps in infrastructure have been filled by construction of Additional Class Rooms, Toilets, Separate Girls’ Toilets and Drinking Water facilities. Hostels especially for Girls students in Jangalmahal area have been built as a special initiative of the Government.

প্রাথমিকের ছাত্রছাত্রীদের বিনামূল্যে জুতো দেবে রাজ্য সরকার

সাইকেলের পর এবার বিনামূল্যে ছাত্রছাত্রীদের জুতো দেবে রাজ্য সরকার। মঙ্গলবার পানাগড়ের ওপর দিয়ে যাওয়ার সময় মুখ্যমন্ত্রী লক্ষ্য করেন যে কিছু স্কুল পড়ুয়াদের পায়ে জুতো নেই।

সঙ্গে সঙ্গে তিনি শিক্ষামন্ত্রীকে ফোন করে নির্দেশ দেন এক সপ্তাহের মধ্যে প্রাথমিকের স্কুল পড়ুয়াদের জন্যও জুতোর ব্যবস্থা করার। ইতিমধ্যেই রাজ্য সরকার স্কুল পড়ুয়াদের জন্যও বিনামূল্যে বইয়ের ব্যবস্থা করেছে এবং কয়েকদিন আগেই ঘোষিত হয়েছে যে মাধ্যমিক ছাত্রছাত্রীদেরও এখন থেকে বিনামূল্যে টেস্টপেপার দেওয়া হবে।

প্রতিটি বিদ্যালয়ে মিড ডে মিলে ১০০ শতাংশ পরিষেবা দিতে সক্ষম হয়েছে রাজ্য সরকার এবং প্রতিটি বিদ্যালয়ে শৌচাগার তৈরির কাজেও ৯৯ শতাংশ সফল হয়েছে রাজ্য সরকার।

গত ৪ বছরে স্কুল পরিকাঠামো তৈরির কাজ জোর কদমে শুরু হয়েছে। পিছিয়ে পরা এলাকা গুলিতে প্রচুর প্রাথমিক, মাধ্যমিক, উচ্চমাধ্যমিক এবং মডেল স্কুল তৈরি হয়েছে।

জঙ্গলমহল এলাকায় মেয়েদের হস্টেল তৈরি রাজ্য সরকারের একটি মহান পদক্ষেপ।

Trinamool Youth Congress President and MP Abhishek Banerjee held a mass rally of party activists at Kashipur in Purulia. The rally was organised by the Kashipur Block Trinamool Congress at Sevabrati Ground in Kashipur, Purulia district.

The young mass leader pointed out the different developmental projects taken up by the Trinamool-led West Bengal Government and said that the CPI(M) and Congress are jointly trying to create confusion among the people of the State. To stand beside CPM will be to support the Sainbari killers or the murderers of Tapasi Malik of Singur, he said.

The TMYC President said that during the last four years, the West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee had been travelling around the State and has come to the land of the red soil in the districts of Purulia, Bankura and Birbhum for more than 50 times. She has been able to fulfil the promises made, has held meetings time and again and has continuously reviewed the work processes.

The young firebrand leader slammed the CPI(M) for their continuous false propaganda featuring slurs and false allegations against Mamata Banerjee. He said that to be like Mamata Banerjee, one needs to forget fear and fight for the people. For 34 years, there had been loots and murders by the CPI(M); and now, for the last four years, there has been unforeseen development under Mamata Banerjee, he said.

পুরুলিয়ার কাশীপুরের তৃণমূল যুব কংগ্রেসের একটি সভায় উপস্থিত ছিলেন যুব কংগ্রেসের সভাপতি এবং সাংসদ অভিষেক বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। পুরুলিয়ার কাশীপুরের সেবাব্রতী ময়দানে কাশীপুর ব্লক তৃণমূলের উদ্যোগে আয়োজিত হয়েছিল এই বিশাল সমাবেশ।

অভিষেক ব্যানার্জি আগাগোড়া এ রাজ্যে মমতা ব্যানার্জির সাফল্যের এবং উন্নয়নের বিভিন্ন দিক তুলে ধরেন এবং বলেন কংগ্রেস সি পি এম একজোটে বাংলার মানুষকে বিভ্রান্ত করতে চাইছে।   তিনি বলেন, সি পি এমের সঙ্গে জোট মানে সাঁইবাড়ির সঙ্গে হাত মেলানো এবং তাপসী মালিকদের হত্যাকারীদের সঙ্গে হাত মেলানো, ফের বাংলাকে পিছিয়ে দেওয়া।

যুব কংগ্রেসের সভাপতি বলেন গত ৪ বছরে এ–প্রান্ত থেকে ও–প্রান্ত বাংলার সর্বত্র মমতা ব্যানার্জি ঘুরে বেড়িয়েছেন মানুষের জন্য। এই লালমাটির পুরুলিয়া, বাঁকুড়া এবং বিরভুমেই এসেছেন ৫০ বারেরও বেশী। ডি এম এম ডি এ–সহ কর্তাদের সঙ্গে মিটিং করে যা প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছিলেন তা তিনি সাড়ে ৪ বছরে সম্পূর্ণ করেছেন।

মমতা ব্যানার্জির বিরুদ্ধে ক্রমাগত কু९স্যা প্রচারের জন্যও বিরোধীদের ভর্ত্সনা করেছেন এই তরুন নেতা।

তিনি বলেন, “মমতা ব্যানার্জি হতে গেলে ভয়কে উপেক্ষা করে, নিজের জীবন বিপন্ন করে মানুষের জন্য লড়তে হয়।গত ৩৪ বছরে সি পি এম বাংলায় খুন ও লুঠপাঠ করেছে এবং গত ৪ বছরে মমতা ব্যানার্জির নেতৃত্বে বাংলায় উনয়নের জোয়ার অব্যাহত।

Baul Festival at Kenduli every year: WB CM

West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee was present at the Baul and Folk Festival at Kenduli in Birbhum District.

With the assistance of the State Government, over one thousand Baul singers under the State Lokprasar Prakalpa will perform in a chorus today.

The biggest attraction of Kenduli’s Joydev Mela is that it features tradition folk culture with performances mainly by the Baul community. The Mela has been promoted nationally and internationally by the State Tourism Department.

Incidentally, Bauls of Bengal – an integral part of the heritage of the State – will be showcased by the State Government at the Republic Day parade at Rajpath in New Delhi this time.

 

Highlights of her speech:

  • Birbhum is the land of bauls, who have for times immemorial spread the tune of peace and serenity
  • We will redevelop the two temples dedicated to Jaydev, who was born in 1143, I have instructed the DM about the same
  • Rs 2.5 crore is being sanctioned for the redevelopment
  • 42,000 artists in Birbhum district are now getting Rs 1000 per month
  • 18,000 more would start getting the same soon
  • We are setting up a Baul Academy at Kenduli, to be named ‘Jaydeb’
  • We are setting up an eco-tourism park in Bolpur, which I have named Rangabitan (from ‘the words ‘rangamati’ and ‘Geetabitan)
  • We are setting up an industrial township in Panagarh in Bardhaman district
  • Agriculture and industry are like siblings. We must give importance to both
  • ‘Amra cholbo notun kore, Bangla gorbo notun kore.’ (We will march on a new path, create a new, progressive Bengal)
  • Why didn’t they do Mati Utsav for farmers? We started it in 2012 and the UN also joined in 2014
  • We are going to inaugurate ‘Mati Tirtha’ tomorrow. It will be a permanent structure for farmers
  • I promise to come here for Joydev Mela every year. We will hold a Baul Utsav here during this time

আজ বীরভূমে কেন্দুলির ‘বাউল ও লোক উ९সব ’ অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শ্রীমতী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।

রাজ্য সরকারের সহায়তায় লোকপ্রসার শিল্পের অন্তর্গত এক হাজার বাউল বাউল আজ এখানে সমবেত সঙ্গীত পরিবেশন করবেন।

জয়দেবের কেন্দুলি মেলার সবচেয়ে বড় আকর্ষণ হল লোক সংস্কৃতি এবং বাউলদের অনুষ্ঠান। জাতীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক স্তরে এই মেলার প্রসার ঘটিয়েছে রাজ্য পর্যটন বিভাগ।

ঘটনাচক্রে, এবার প্রজাতন্ত্র দিবসে দিল্লির রাজপথে বাজবে বাংলার ঐতিহ্যবাহী বাউলের সুর।

West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee  inaugurated the Deocha Pachami Dewanganj Harinsingha Coal Fields at Birbhum.

The Deocha Pachami Dewanganj Harinsingha Coal Fields is the largest Coal Block in the country with coal reserves of around 21000 million tonnes. An approximate investment to the tune of Rs 20,000 crores are being made into the project. The coal to be extracted is to be used for power generation.

It is expected that the project will provide direct and indirect investment to lakhs of people and will result in comprehensive development of the Coal Block area comprising a large population of people belling to Tribal and scheduled caste communities. There is also a commercial potential of basaltic overburden as a result of the project.

The project is a joint venture of the West Bengal Mineral Development and Trading Corporation Limited and the Bengal Birbhum Coalfields Limited.

Highlights of her speech:

  • They contain 210 crore metric tonnes of coal reserves, worth Rs 2,10,000 crore
  •  The coal fields would generate 1 lakh jobs
  •  3 multi super hospitals are coming up in Birbhum – in Suri, Bolpur and Rampurhat
  •  We are also setting up a medical college and hospital in Rampurhat
  •  13 Krishi Bazaars have been set up in the district
  •  15,000 people (including 1000 refugee families) have received land pattas in this district
  •  From January 27, 28 lakh people of this district would receive rice and flour (atta) at the rate of Rs 2 per kg per person
  •  70 lakh more people will receive rice and wheat at a rate which is half that of the market rate
  •  I have named this scheme of providing essential food items as Khadya Sathi
  •  The work that people do cannot be discriminated against. We must respect the work of all people
  •  This is one of the six smart cities being developed in West Bengal
  •  ‘Biswa Bangla City’ is coming up opposite to Nabanna
  •  Once there was no basic healthcare in Bengal; we are now setting up 41 multi super hospitals
  •  I have provided free beds in State Government-run hospitals and free treatment for children upto 18 years
  •  Students in Government schools from classes VIII to XII are receiving Rs 7,500 each as scholarship
  •  16 lakh SC/ST students from class V are being covered under the Shikshashree Scheme
  •  30 lakh students are receiving scholarships under the Kanyashree Scheme, so that they can continue their education and be independent
  •  40 lakh students in West Bengal will get bicycles under the Sabuj Sathi Scheme
  •  I have ensured reservation for 97% of the OBCs
  •  59,000 minority students have got a chance to continue their higher education
  •  When people are happy they celebrate; those who are jealous can only sit and complain
  •  30,000 children in the Jangalmahal region have get a chance to play. They have also been provided a jersey each.
  •  We have given scholarships to 84 lakh minority students, and introduced reservation for minorities and OBCs without touching the General category seats

আজ বীরভূমে দেশের বৃহত্তম কয়লাখনি উদ্বোধন করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

বীরভূমের দেউচা পাচামী দেওয়ানগঞ্জ হরিণশিঙ্গা কয়লাখনি প্রকল্পের উদ্বোধন করলেন মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শ্রীমতী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।

দেউচা পাচামী দেওয়ানগঞ্জ হরিণশিঙ্গা কয়লাখনি হল দেশের বৃহত্তম কয়লাখনি। এখানে সঞ্চিত কয়লায় পরিমাণ ২১০ কোটি টন। এই প্রকল্পের আনুমানিক বিনিয়োগ প্রায় ২০,০০০ কোটি টাকা। উত্তোলিত কয়লা ব্যবহৃত হবে তাপবিদ্যুত কেন্দ্রে।

এই প্রকল্পের মাধ্যমে লক্ষাধিক প্রত্যক্ষ ও পরোক্ষ কর্মসংস্থানের সুযোগ প্রত্যাশিত। এছাড়াও আদিবাসী ও তপশিলিী অধ্যুষিত খনি এলাকার সামগ্রিক উন্নয়ন হবে। কয়লা স্তরের উপরিস্থিত কালো বাণিজ্যিক ব্যবহার হবে এই প্রকল্পে।

ওয়েস্ট বেঙ্গল মিনারেল ডেভলপমেন্ট অ্যান্ড ট্রেডিং কর্পোরেশন লিমিটেড ও বেঙ্গল বীরভূম কোলফিল্ডস লিমিটেডের যৌথ উদ্যোগে তৈরি হচ্ছে এই প্রকল্প।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর বক্তব্যের কিছু অংশঃ

  • বীরভূমে দেউচা পাচামী দেওয়ানগঞ্জ হরিণশিঙ্গা কয়লাখনি প্রকল্পের উদ্বোধন হল, এখানে সঞ্চিত কয়লায় পরিমাণ ২১০ কোটি টন

  • ৭০ লক্ষ লোককে বাজারের দামের অর্ধেক দামে চাল দেওয়া হবে, এই প্রকল্পের নামকরণ করা হয়েছে ‘খাদ্য সাথী’
  • নবান্নের সামনে তৈরি হচ্ছে ‘বিশ্ববাংলা সিটি’
  • বোলপুরে ‘রাঙাবিতান’ নামে একটি ইকো ট্যুরিজম পার্ক তৈরি হচ্ছে
  • পানাগড়ে একটি ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়াল টাউনশিপ তৈরি হচ্ছে
  • ৪১ টি মাল্টি সুপার হসপিটাল, ৩০০ টি এসএনএসইউ তৈরি হয়েছে
  • ১৬ লক্ষ ছেলেমেয়ে শিক্ষাশ্রী এবং ৩১ লক্ষ ছেলেমেয়ে কন্যাশ্রী প্রকল্পের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হয়েছে

People of wards 129, 130 and 131 of Behala, Kolkata, are likely to get rid of drinking water woes as a booster pumping station was inaugurated today at Senpally in Ward No 129.

The pumping station was inaugurated by Mayor of Kolkata, Sobhan Chatterjee. State Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim, Education Minister Dr Partha Chatterjee, AITC general secretary Subrata Bakshi were present at the occasion.

With inauguration of this 3 lakh gallon capacity pump, people of the area, including that of mayor’s ward are likely to get rid of water crisis, which has been a local issue for long.

Tate Education Minister Dr Partha Chatterjee said that the Government under Trinamool Congress is delivering the promises it made to the people.

The State Urban Development Minister Mr Firhad hakim said that Bengal is setting example for other States.

The Kolakata Mayor said water crisis in the city has been largely eradicated. There will be a time when the city will be100% tube-well free, he said.

The booster pumping station was today named after eminent lyricist Mohini Chowdhury.

 

নতুন বুস্টার পাম্পিং স্টেশন বেহালায়

বেহালা ১২৯ নং ওয়ার্ডের সেনপল্লীতে একটি নতুন বুস্টার পাম্পিং স্টেশন উদ্বোধন হয়েছে। ওয়ার্ড নং ১২৯, ১৩০ এবং ১৩১ এর অধিবাসীরা পানীয় জলের জন্য তৈরি হল এই বুস্টার পাম্পিং স্টেশন।

উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত থাকবেন কলকাতার মেয়র শোভন চ্যাটার্জি, রাজ্যের পুর ও নগরোন্নয়ন মন্ত্রী ফিরহাদ হাকিম, শিক্ষামন্ত্রী পার্থ চ্যাটার্জি, তৃণমূলের সাধারণ সম্পাদক সুব্রত বক্সী।

এই পাম্পের জলধারণ ক্ষমতা প্রায় ৩ লাখ গ্যালন। মেয়রের এলাকা সহ সব এলাকার পানীয় জলের সমস্যার সমাধান হবে এর মাধ্যমে।

রাজ্যের শিক্ষামন্ত্রী পার্থ চ্যাটার্জি বলেন যে তৃণমূল সরকার তাদের দেওয়া সমস্ত প্রতিশ্রুতি পূর্ণ করছে।

রাজ্যের পুর ও নগরোন্নয়ন মন্ত্রী ফিরহাদ হাকিম বলেন পশ্চিম বাংলা অন্যান্য রাজ্যের কাছে একটি দৃষ্টান্ত।

কলকাতার মেয়র বলেন, “শহরে পানীয় জলের অভাব মূলত নির্মূল হয়েছে। এরপর এমন একদিন আসবে যেদিন শহরকে ১০০ শতাংশ নলকূপ মুক্ত করা সম্ভব হবে”।

প্রয়াত গীতিকার মোহিনী চৌধুরীর নামে এই বুস্টার পাম্পিং স্টেশনের নামকরন করা হয়েছে।

Bauls of Bengal – an integral part of the heritage of the State – will be showcased by the State Government at the Republic Day parade at Rajpath in New Delhi this time.

This time, the State Government has decided to display Baul culture – and through it the Lok Prasar Prakalpa – to showcase the empowerment of folk artists. Launched by the State information and cultural affairs department, the scheme has presently enrolled 55,000 folk artists under it and another 5,000 are expected to be included by March.

Under the scheme, State Government provides a monthly retainer fee or pension (for artists aged above 60 years) of Rs 1,000 and allowance of Rs 1,000 per performance. State Government wants to ensure that each artist gets a chance to get four performances each month.

A team of 34 Bauls led by renowned singer Soumen Biswas of Murshidabad would perform at the tableau. The Bauls are a group of mystic minstrels from Bengal and constitute both a syncretic religious sect and a musical tradition.

Designed by the Chief Minister herself, the tableau would portray rural Bengal with a model of village including Bishnupur temple and terracotta statues. All kinds of folk music and dance are being promoted by the state government so much so that the annual Biswa Bangla Lok Sanskriti Utsav (Folk Culture Festival) has been started from this year onwards.

The programme was recently held on a floating stage at Lal Dighi near Writers’ Building recently. In 2014, Bengal bagged the best tableau award for Chhau dance of Purulia, which is a popular genre of Indian tribal martial dance.

In 2013, Bengal’s theme was Basanta Utsav of Shantiniketan and in 2012 it was the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

Meanwhile, the Republic Day celebrations at Red Road would witness tableaux of the departments of panchayat and rural development and micro small medium enterprises and West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation under commerce and industries.

বাংলার বাউল এবার দিল্লীর দরবারে

এবার প্রজাতন্ত্র দিবসে দিল্লির রাজপথে বাজবে বাংলার বাউলের সুর।

এবছর রাজ্যের ট্যাবলো সাজছে লোকপ্রসার প্রকল্প আর বাউলের সাজে। রাজ্যের তথ্য ও সংস্কৃতি দপ্তরের তথ্য অনুযায়ী ৫৫ হাজার লোকশিল্পীকে এই প্রকল্পের আওতায় আনা হয়েছে এবং আরও ৫০০০ শিল্পীকে মার্চের মধ্যে এই প্রকল্পের আওতায় আনা হবে।

এই প্রকল্পের আওতায় লোকশিল্পীদের ১০০০ টাকা করে পেনশন দেবে রাজ্য সরকার। প্রত্যেককে সরকারি অনুষ্ঠানে অংশগ্রহণ করার সুবিধে দেবে রাজ্য সরকার।

মুর্শিদাবাদের সেরা বাউল শিল্পী সৌমেন বিশ্বাসের নেতৃত্বে ২৪ জনের একটি প্রতিনিধি দল অংশগ্রহণ করবে এই ট্যাবলোয়।

ট্যাবলোর নকশা  তৈরি করেছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী নিজেই। বিষ্ণুপুরের টেরাকোটা মূর্তির আদলে ট্যাবলো তৈরি হচ্ছে। সাথে থাকবে নানা ধরনের লোকসঙ্গীত ও লোকনৃত্য।

কিছুদিন আগেই মহাকরণের কাছে লাল দীঘিতে একটি ভাসমান মঞ্চের ওপর একটি অনুষ্ঠান হয়েছিল। ২০১৪ সালে দিল্লীর কুচকাওয়াজে পশ্চিমবঙ্গের পুরুলিয়ার ছৌ নৃত্যের ধাঁচে তৈরি ট্যাবলোটি হয়েছিল সেরা।

২০১৩ সালে বাংলার থিম ছিল শান্তিনিকেতনের বসন্ত উৎসব এবং ২০১২ তে ছিল স্বামী বিবেকানন্দের ১৫০তম জন্মবার্ষিকী।

রেড রোডের কুচকাওয়াজে অংশগ্রহণ করছে পঞ্চায়েত, সমাজকল্যাণ, ক্ষুদ্র ও মাঝারি উদ্যোগ, শিল্প এবং পশ্চিমবঙ্গ শিল্প উন্নয়ন নিগম দপ্তর। প্রতিটি দপ্তর বাঙ্গালার উন্নয়নের ধারাকে তুলে ধরবে।

West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee will launch the State Food Security Scheme on January 27 from a programme to be held at the Red Road.

Under the State Food Security Scheme, the State Government will provide five kilos of rice at Rs 2/kg to 7.1 crore people out of 10 crore people of the State. Another 70 lakh people will be able to buy rice at a price half than the market price, under this scheme. People who are below the poverty line will be eligible for this scheme.

The West Bengal Government has already been distributing rice at Rs 2 to people in Jangalmahal, Aila-affected regions of Sunderbans and workers of the tea gardens in north Bengal.

The programme on January 27 will feature bicycle rallies by those who have received cycles under Sabuj Sathi scheme.

The State Government has already undertaken the act of digitizing ration cards. After the launch of the State Food Security Scheme, 90% people of Bengal will be brought under it.
