Hamare kshetra aisa jagah hain jahan par Raja Rammohan Roy jaise vyaktitwa janam liye, jinhone satipratha ko kupratha band kiye, jis liye hum sabh mahilaye iss jagah par surakshit hain, aur Ramkrishna Dev ka janamsthan bhi hamari kshetra mein hain jinhone samaj ko samjhaya ki devi ka puja karna chahiye, to hiss jagah se chunke jab hum aaye hain. Hamare kshetra mein hum jab jaate hain toh joh pichli varg ki mahilaye hain who zaade sa zaade apne ko padhane ke liye, shikshit karne ke liye, ladkiyo ko shikshit karne ke liye. Mamata Banerjee jo paschim Bangal ke bivhinn schemes laya hain – Kanyashreee se le ke aur bhi schemes hain – usme woh log jab involve karate apne bachho ko, aur education de rahe hain, aur yahan par sab sansad apne apne baat bataye hain – Poona ji abhi bata rahe they woh apne jagah par bahut achhe schemes kiye hain – aaj iss august house ko iss jagah par batana chahte hain ki aaj ki tarikh par joh discussions ho rahe hain – agar mahilaon ke liye kuch special schemes ho skill development ke liye jisme mahilao bhaag le sakey, hum logon ke liye bahut achha hoga. Madam,

There is a need to ensure gender equality and it is not going to be an easy task. We live in a world where inequality prevails. To be very frank, inequality is in our psyche. To come out of this mould is not easy. It is arduous. It needs lots of guts and courage and what not.

Women have the capacity to excel in whatever they do, whatever they aspire for.

Our hon. Speaker Smt Sumitra Mahajan is a good example how women can achieve with hard work, sincerity and perseverance. Our country has produced many eminent women leaders, starting from Indira Gandhi, our former President Pratibha Patil, and former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar.

My party, the Trinamool Congress is headed by a woman, Mamata Banerjee, who faced all odds to come to this position and became the Chief Minister of West Bengal. We should take up the cause when we come across any injustice. We should not let it go.

I would like to quote the message of Mr Ban Ki-Moon, the UN Secretary General on International Women’s Day 2016: “We have shattered so many glass ceilings we created a carpet of shards. Now we are sweeping away the assumptions and bias of the past so women can advance across new frontiers.”

Before I conclude, Madam, I would like to convey my regards to you and all the honourable members of this House and all the women in my State, in my country and outside the country.

Sugata Bose speaks on the occasion of International Women’s Day

I appeal to you Madam Speaker, that one way or another please ensure that women have just representation in the Lok Sabha in the future.

Sonia Gandhi ji has already paid tribute to the women who took part in the Gandhian Satyagrahas. Madam Teacher has already mentioned the Rani of Jhansi and the women, very often very poor women working in rubber plantations who fought in the Rani of Jhansi Regiment of the Indian National Army.

I would simply add my tribute to women revolutionaries like Pritilata Waddedar of the Chittagong Armoury Raid and Kamala Devi Chattopadhyay, who went abroad and there, in the United States, she was the first to refuse to give up her seat in a train, long before Rosa Parks did the same thing on a bus.

So, these are the women whom we should remember and take as our inspiration and I wish to tell my women colleagues that because my name ends with an ‘A’, I often get letters addressed to ‘Ms Sugata Bose’ and I never object to that.

And especially on this 8th of March, I want to say that we will stand in solidarity with you and fight shoulder to shoulder with you to end gender discrimination in our country once and for all.

Joh raaste mein signal pe bachhe le ke bhikh mangti hain, woh bhi wohi kar rahi hain, lekin phir bhi aaj 8th March hain. Dowry lene ke liye joh sasural unke bahu ko torture karte hain woh aaj bhi chal rahi hain, phir bhi aaj 8th March hain.

Actually, main bahut saare se baat kiya 8th March ka matlab kya hain, kyun yeh special hain. Koi bolte hain yeh special hain kyun ki women special hain, iss liye, aap logon ko respect karte hain isi liye. Aur kisi ka baat yeh hain aap log weaker section hain, aap log neeche ho, aap logon ko support den eke liye yeh Women’s Day hain. Main yeh doosre pe believe karti hoon. Lekin joh bhi gender description hain, discrimination hain, woh tab tak hain jab woh society mein aata hain. Agar koi kisi maa se pooche joh du mahine dus deen kok mein rakhte, usko ladka ya ladki, job hi hain, usme pain alag hote kya, usme anubhav alag hote kya? Uska joh stress hote hain, joh saab mein tension hote hain, woh saab alag hote kya? Kyunki joh bachhe ke duniya, desh aur kok, uske desh hote hain, toh kuch bhi nahin hain. Jab paida ho jate hain tab yeh male-dominated society iska difference karte hain.

lekin tab tak yeh differentiation chalega jab tak economically hum log equal nahin honge. Jab tak hum log ghar mein kaam karenge 24 hours, maybe unka income nahin hain, isi liye woh kuch bhi nahin karte. Jab engineer husband 8 hours kaam karte toh phir uska income count hota hain. Isme income hi ek hain jisme equal baan sakte hain, uske liye education zaroori hain. Jab tak hum log education nahin denge tab tak income bhi nahin honge, tab tak hum iequal bhi nahin ban payenge.

Jaise women ko hamesha ad mein bhi dikhate hain, jaise use karte hain jo product, abhi jo ad bante, jaise TV ka ad hote hain, fridge ka ad hote hain, gari ke ad hote hain, usme kya bolte? Yeh le jaiye, yeh best hain, aapko paisa bachayenge, petrol bachayenge, electricity bachayenge. Equally aap wohin bol rahe hain – ladki bachaiye, beti bachaiye, toh aapko ultimately paise bachayenge. Product bana diya, abhi bhi naari wohi product hain joh fridge, TV, gari ke saath tolte hain.

Humlogka yeh chahiye, aap log agar bolenge ki bus mein special seat chahiye, toh nahin chahiye, humlog bus chalana chahte hain. Aal bolenge ‘ladies first’ aage jaiye, nahin, humlogo ko kandha se kandhe mila ke chalna chahiye. 5 lakh income karne se aapka tax-free, nahin chahiye. 5 crore income karke main pura tax dena chahti hoon.

Ek kavita mein bolti hoon … ek paanch saal ki bachhe uska daddy se poocha, “Daddy, freedom kisko bolte?” Daddy ne kaha, “Jab aap sab jo chahe bol sakte ho, jo chahe kar sakte ho, kisi ke paas aap answerable nahin ho. Jo bhi bologe, joh bhi chahoge, apne man se kar sakte ho, isi ko freedom kar sakte hain.” Toh paanch saal ke bachhe kaha, “Daddy, toh mujhe bhi freedom milna chahiye.” Daddy bola, “Nahin. Tum bachhe ho, tum freedom le ke kya karoge? Jab bade ho jaoge, freedom apne aap aa jayenge. Bade hone se hi freedom milte hain, bade hone se freedom apne aap aa jate hain.” Bachhi ne poocha, “Maa kab bade honge?” Humlogon ka society mein maa kabhi bade nahin hote, iss liye abhi bhi humlog equality ka baat karte hain. Maa ko bade hona chahiye, badi hone dijiye, toh phir yeh discussion ka baat hi nahin hoga. Aur ek baat pa mein conclude karti hoon. Main personally yeh day nahin manti hoon kyunki saalbhar mujhe chahiye Women’s Day. Tab mein 8th ZMarch Nari Divas celebrate karoongi jab 9th March Purush Divas honge because we believe in equality.

Kolkata is the safest city for women, according to surveys

Kolkata is the safest metro city in India for women. As a result of the various initiatives taken by the Trinamool Congress Government, women feel the safest in the city.

According to the latest report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), ‘Crime in India 2014,’ Kolkata is the safest city in Kolkata in terms of crimes against women.

The India Today Best City Awards 2014 also rewarded Kolkata with the award for the best city in the category of crime and safety. The award was given after a rigorous survey of 30 State capitals and metro cities and 20 emerging cities on 12 parameters.

In December 2012, Kolkata Police introduced two helplines for the benefit of women: 1091, a toll-free dial-in-service for distressed and harassed women, and 8017100100, an anti-stalking helpline (one can also send SMSs to this number). One can also call up the Kolkata Police control room at (033) 22143024. Other helplines run by Kolkata Police, meant for women as well, are 2000 and 2001 (traffic helplines), 9830088884 (senior citizen helpline) and 9830079999 (medical helpline).

The State Government has also introduced an Intelligent Transport System in buses, complete with CCTVs and a direct communication to a police control room. This has been introduced in CSTC, NBSTC and SBSTC buses to especially benefit women passengers. Any untoward activity taking place can be tracked on videos and action taken accordingly.

The West Bengal Government has adopted a ‘zero tolerance’ approach towards crime against women. As a result, incidents of crime against women are constantly on the decline.

Kanyashree: A beacon of hope for girl children

Kanyashree Scheme is a peerless initiative by the West Bengal Government. It is the State’s flagship project for the girl child. More than 30 lakh girls have been brought under this scheme. The scheme was introduced to arrest the drop-out rate in schools and prevent early marriage among girl students.

The scheme is end-to-end IT-enabled and completely transparent, and hence easily accessible to beneficiaries. The popularity of the scheme has grown manifold since its inception due to this ease of access and focus on empowering young girl and building their confidence and self-esteem.

Among Kanyashree beneficiaries, 37.65% belongs to general category, 23.97% are scheduled castes (SC), 5.86% are scheduled tribes (ST), 8.8% are other backward classes (OBC) and 23.72% are minorities.

The scheme has garnered recognitions at major international and national forums. The scheme was represented as one of the ‘best practices’ at the Girl Summit 2014, organised by Department for International Development, UK and UNICEF in London in July 2014. It has also received the Manthan Award 2014 for e-governance in the category of ‘Women and Empowerment’ covering South Asia and Asia Pacific region. At the national level, it won a silver in the National Award for e-Governance 2014-15 under the category of ‘Outstanding Performance in Citizen-Centric Service.’

August 14 is celebrated as Kanyashree Divas throughout the State through grand ceremonies.

নারী উন্নয়নে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের যুগান্তকারী প্রকল্প ‘কন্যাশ্রী’

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের একটি যুগান্তকারী প্রকল্প হল ‘কন্যাশ্রী’ প্রকল্প। প্রায় ৩০ লক্ষ মেয়েদের এই প্রকল্পের আওতায় আনা হয়েছে। এর ফলে কমেছে স্কুলছুটের সংখ্যা, কমানো গেছে অল্প বয়সে মেয়েদের বিয়ে দেওয়ার প্রবণতাও।

শুধু স্বনির্ভর করাই লক্ষ্য নয়। সবদিক থেকেই পারদর্শী হবে কন্যাশ্রীর কন্যারা। পিছিয়ে থাকবে না খেলাধূলা থেকেও।

কন্যাশ্রীর আওতায় লাভবান হয়েছে সাধারণ সম্প্রদায়ের ৩৭.৬৫ শতাংশ, তফসিলি সম্প্রদায়ের ২৩.৯৭ শতাংশ, উপজাতি সম্প্রদায়ের ৫.৮৬ শতাংশ, ওবিসি ৮.৮ শতাংশ এবং সংখ্যালঘুদের ২৩.৭২ শতাংশ।

কন্যাশ্রীর সাফল্যের জন্য ইউকে এবং ইউনিসেফের আন্তর্জাতিক উন্নয়ন দফতর আয়োজিত ‘গার্ল সামিট’-এ সেরা নির্বাচিত হয়েছে কন্যাশ্রী। মন্থন পুরস্কারও পেয়েছে এই প্রকল্প।

১৪ই আগস্ট রাজ্য সরকার কন্যাশ্রী দিবস হিসেবে পালন করে। প্রতি বছর এই দিনটি পালন করে রাজ্য সরকার।

Women’s empowerment in West Bengal: 10 major initiatives in the last five years

In its first five-year term, the Trinamool Congress Government has brought about many major initiatives for women in West Bengal.

As a result, women all over the State have benefitted immensely.

Here are ten major initiatives for women:

KANYASHREE SCHEME: Kanyashree is the State’s flagship project for the girl child. More than 30 lakh girls have been enrolled under the scheme, whcih has garnered international as well as national recognitions.

EDUCATION: For the first time, under the Trinamool Congress administration, a university for women has been set in Diamond Harbour. A state women’s college for minorities is coming up in Ekbalpore, Kolkata. Twenty-one hostels for women have being constructed in various polytechnics across the State. Through the State Government’s Sabuj Sathi Scheme, wherein bicycles are given to school children in rural areas, thousands of girls, too have benefitted. Besides, over 8,000 girl students studying in Class IX in the Sundarbans region have been given bicycles over the last five years. Around 40 Womens’ Corners have been opened in different Government and Government-sponsored libraries to increase access to women readers.

SWABALAMBAN SCHEME: Through the Swabalamban Scheme, training is given on a wide range of livelihood activities, e.g., zari craft, handloom weaving, beautician courses, community health, readymade garment-making, wood carving, etc. Recently, as a part of this scheme, the State Government has launched an acting project for sex workers, meant to make them self-sufficient by giving them acting lessons and making them employable in the entertainment industry.

MUKTIR ALO: Muktir Alo is a comprehensive scheme for the rehabilitation of sex workers. It provides them with opportunities for leading a life with dignity by providing them alternative career opportunities, and also gives protection to victims of sex trafficking.

MATERNITY LEAVE: For the benefit of women, maternity leave for State Government employees has been extended. ‘Maternity and Child Care Leave,’ as it is called, can now be taken for a total period of two years, in stages.

KOLKATA SAFEST CITY FOR WOMEN: Kolkata is one of the safest metros in India for women. According to the latest report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Kolkata is the safest city in Kolkata in terms of crimes against women. Kolkata Police offers martial arts training to schoolgirls, under Project Sukanya, to make them self-reliant when it comes to defending themselves.

POLICE STATIONS RUN BY WOMEN: The West Bengal Government has adopted a ‘zero tolerance’ approach towards crime against women. The Government is setting up police stations run exclusively by women police officers. As of now, the Government has set up 30 Women Police Stations, as these are termed.

ANTI-TRAFFICKING UNITS: The State Government has set up dedicated Anti-Human Trafficking Units and Special Juvenile Police units in each district.

EMPLOYMENT: More than 27,000 self-help groups have been formed over the last five years, which have over 16 lakh women members. Financial assistance to the tune of Rs 200.07 lakh has been sanctioned for development of women’s cooperative societies. The State has also created employment opportunities, including many for women, through skill development in various sectors. The Biswa Bangla initiative by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also opened up a lot of employment opportunities for women. A lot of the handicraft workers in the rural areas are women, who are earning a decent livelihood. Women’s participation in MGNREGS, in which the State has achieved unique milestones, has increased to 41%, which is all-time high in the State.

HOSTELS FOR WORKING WOMEN: To sort out the accommodation issues of working women, hostels have been constructed. A 40-bedded hostel, Ananya, has been at up in Durgapur and another 44-bedded one, named Swayangsiddha, in Salt Lake, Kolkata. Seven more are in different phases of construction all over the State.

গত পাঁচ বছরে নারী ক্ষমতায়নে পশ্চিমবঙ্গের সেরা উদ্যোগ

গত পাঁচ বছরে তৃণমূল পরিচালিত সরকার মেয়েদের জন্য বিভিন্ন রকম উদ্যোগ নিয়েছে। এর ফলে রাজ্য জুড়ে মহিলাদের অনেক উন্নতিসাধন হয়েছে।

মহিলাদের জন্য নেওয়া প্রধান উদ্যোগগুলি হলঃ

‘কনাশ্রী’ প্রকল্প – মেয়েদের জন্য রাজ্য সরকারের যুগান্তকারী প্রকল্প ‘কনাশ্রী’। প্রায় ৩০ লক্ষেরও বেশি মেয়েরা রয়েছে এই প্রকল্পের আওতায়। এই প্রকল্পটি জাতীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক স্তরে যথেষ্ট প্রশংসা পেয়েছে।

শিক্ষা – তৃণমূল সরকারের আমলে এই প্রথম বার রাজ্যে প্রথম মহিলাদের জন্যও একটি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় স্থাপন করেছে। ডায়মন্ড হারবারে তৈরি হয়েছে ডায়মন্ড হারবার মহিলা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়। সারা রাজ্যে সব মিলিয়ে প্রায় ২১ টি মহিলা হোস্টেল তৈরির পরিকাঠামো চলছে। এরমধ্যে ৪টি তৈরি হয়ে গেছে। কলকাতার একবালপুরে মহিলাদের জন্য একটি সরকারী জেনারেল ডিগ্রী কলেজ চালু হয়েছে ও জলপাইগুড়িতে (বানরাহাটে) রাজ্যের প্রথম হিন্দী মিডিয়াম জেনারেল ডিগ্রী কলেজ স্থাপিত হয়েছে। এছাড়া সবুজ সাথী প্রকল্পের মাধ্যমে মেয়েদের সাইকেল দেওয়া হচ্ছে, এছাড়া আরও অনেক সুবিধা দেওয়া হয়েছে যাতে তারা পড়াশোনা করতে পারে।

স্ববলম্বন প্রকল্প – রাজ্যের মহিলাদের স্বনির্ভর করতে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় চালু করেছেন ‘স্ববলম্বন প্রকল্প’। এর মাধ্যমে বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়া হবে মহিলাদের।

মুক্তির আলো – যৌন কর্মীদের জন্য শুরু হয়েছে প্রকল্প ‘মুক্তির আলো’।

কলকাতা সুরক্ষিত নগর – NCRB-রিপোর্ট অনুযায়ী নারী সুরক্ষার ক্ষেত্রে দেশের মধ্যে কলকাতাই সবচেয়ে সুরক্ষিত নগরী। নারী সুরক্ষার ক্ষেত্রে রাজ্য সরকার কোনরকম অন্যায়কে বরদাস্ত করে না। বিভিন্ন সরকারী বাস স্ট্যান্ডগুলিতে মহিলাদের সুরক্ষার জন্যও CCTV বসানো হয়েছে।

মহিলা পুলিশ স্টেশন – নারী সুরক্ষার ক্ষেত্রে আরও কিছু পদক্ষেপ নিয়েছে রাজ্য সরকার। রাজ্য সরকার ৬৫টি মহিলা থানা তৈরি করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে। ইতিমধ্যে ৩০টি পুলিশ স্টেশন তৈরি হয়ে গেছে।এছাড়া বিচার ব্যবস্থায় গতি আনতে মহিলাদের জন্যও ৫১টি ফার্স্ট ট্র্যাক কোর্ট তৈরি করা হয়েছে।

অ্যাণ্টি ট্রাফিকিং ইউনিট – পাচার রুখতে প্রতিটি জেলায় রাজ্য সরকার অ্যাণ্টি হিউম্যান ট্রাফিকিং ইউনিট এবং স্পেশাল জুভেনহাইল পুলিশ ইউনিট তৈরি করেছে।

স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠী – সমাজের দুর্বলতর শ্রেণীর মহিলা স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠীগুলিকে আর্থিকভাবে স্বনির্ভর করা এবং পারিবারিক আয় বৃদ্ধি ও জীবনযাত্রার মান উন্নত করার জন্য বিভিন্ন প্রকল্প চালু করেছে রাজ্য সরকার। এছাড়া বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে প্রশিক্ষণও দেওয়া হচ্ছে মহিলাদের। বিশ্ব বাংলা দোকানগুলিতে মহিলাদের তৈরি বিভিন্ন হাটের কাজ বিক্রির ব্যবস্থা করেছে রাজ্য সরকার।

১০০ দিনের কাজ – ১০০ দিনের কাজে অভূতপূর্ব সাফল্য পেয়েছে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ। এই কাজে মহিলাদের অংশগ্রহন ৪১ শতাংশ বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে যা অন্যান্য রাজ্যের তুলনায় বেশি।

Mamata Banerjee’s rally marks International Women’s Day today

Trinamool Congress Chairperson Mamata Banerjee led a procession today to mark International Women’s Day.

It began from Shyambazar and concluded at Dorina Crossing in Esplanade. The procession also marked the official start of Mamata Banerjee’s campaign for the 2016 Assembly election. The elections are scheduled to begin from April 4 and end on May 5.

Over the last five years, the Trinamool Congress has brought about a lot of change in the condition of women in West Bengal. Schemes like Kanyashree have set pioneering trends in India, and have brought glory to the State in international forums too.

আন্তর্জাতিক নারী দিবস উপলক্ষে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের মিছিল

আন্তর্জাতিক নারী দিবস উপলক্ষে আজ তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের চেয়ারপার্সন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের একটি মিছিলে হাঁটলেন। মহিলা কংগ্রেসের সভানেত্রী চন্দ্রিমা ভট্টাচার্য সহ অন্যান্য নেতৃত্বরাও সেখানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

মিছিলটি শুরু হয় শ্যামবাজার থেকে এবং শেষ হয় ধর্মতলার ডোরিনা ক্রসিং-এ। এই মিছিলের মাধ্যমেই তৃণমূল নেত্রী নির্বাচনী প্রচার শুরু করলেন। নির্বাচন শুরু হবে ৪ঠা এপ্রিল এবং শেষ হবে ৫ই মে।

গত পাঁচ বছরে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস নারীদের অবস্থার অনেক পরিবর্তন করেছে। কন্যাশ্রী প্রকল্প শুধু রাজ্যে নয় সারা দেশেও এক মডেল হিসেবে পরিচিত। আন্তর্জাতিক ক্ষেত্রে এই প্রকল্প রাজ্যকে এক আলাদা গরীমা প্রদান করেছে।

Trinamool’s ‘watermelon theory’ attacking alliance goes viral

Trinamool Congress’ ‘watermelon theory’ attacking the CPI(M)-Congress alliance has gone viral on the internet.

Drawing parallels between a watermelon and the Congress’ condition in West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress today alleged that the grand old party has formed a ‘shameless alliance’ with CPI(M) in the State which goes to the polls next month.

According to Trinamool Congress’ Chief National Spokesperson and Leader of the Party, Rajya Sabha, Derek O’Brien, “The Congress Party in Bengal is like a watermelon. They are green from the outside and red inside. They have got this alliance with CPI(M), which is a shameless alliance. We all know they have always been together like watermelons.”

কংগ্রেসকে তরমুজের সঙ্গে তুলনা করে আজ তৃণমূল সিপিএম-কংগ্রেস জোটকে ‘নির্লজ্জ’ আখ্যা দেয়।

তৃণমূলের এই তুলনা ভিডিওটি ফেসবুক, ইউটিউব সহ বিভিন্ন সোশ্যাল মিডিয়া সাইটে ইতিমধ্যেই জনপ্রিয় হয়েছে।

তৃণমূলের জাতীয় মুখপাত্র ও রাজ্যসভার দলনেতা ডেরেক ও’ব্রায়েন জানান, “পশ্চিমবাংলায় কংগ্রেস পার্টি ঠিক তরমুজের মত।তরমুজের বাইরের অংশটা যেমন সবুজ এবং ভেতরের অংশটা লাল ঠিক তেমন। কংগ্রেস ও সিপিএম-এর যে জোটটি হচ্ছে তা নির্লজ্জ জোট। আমরা সকলেই জানি যে কংগ্রেস এবং সিপিএম সবসময় তরমুজের মত এক”।

Trinamool Congress deploys two young grads for poll-related research

Two young graduates with strong academic backgrounds are working with the Trinamool Congress to do research work for the West Bengal Assembly elections beginning next month.

Sumedha Jalote and Piyush Gupta, both in their twenties, are working with party MPs Derek O’Brien and Sudip Bandyopadhyay as part of a LAMP (Legislative Assistants to Members of Parliament) fellowship.

Jalote holds a degree in economics and political science from Singapore Management University, while Gupta is an electrical engineering graduate from Thapar University.

Gupta, who aspires for a job in public administration, said since he comes from a background of engineering, he could provide with non-partisan inputs and out-of-the-box ideas on various topics.

Jalote said they were researching on various issues which could figure in election debates.

Keeping track of what is being reported in the media and what’s trending on social media is another aspect of their work profiles.

Before the 2011 State Assembly elections too, Trinamool Congress had taken two interns from IIM Calcutta to work on campaign strategies. Similarly, in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, there were two IIMC graduates interning with the party.

নির্বাচনী প্রচারে সাহায্য করবে দুই তরুন গবেষক

পশ্চিমবঙ্গের বিধানসভা নির্বাচনের জন্য বিভিন্ন বিষয়ে গবেষণা করার জন্য দুই তরুণ স্নাতক তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের সঙ্গে কাজ করছে।

সুমেধা জালোটে এবং পিয়ুস গুপ্তা দুজনেরই বয়স ২০-র আশেপাশে। তারা দুজনেই ডেরেক ও ব্রায়েন এবং সুদীপ বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের সঙ্গে LAMP (Legislative Assistants to Members of Parliament) ফেলোশিপ নিয়ে যুক্ত।

সুমেধা অর্থনীতি ও রাষ্ট্র বিজ্ঞান নিয়ে সিঙ্গাপুর ম্যানেজমেন্ট ইউনিভার্সিটি থেকে পড়াশোনা করেছে এবং পিয়ুষ থাপার ইউনিভার্সিটি থেকে ইলেকট্রিক্যাল ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং-এর ছাত্র।

পিয়ুস গুপ্তা ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং-এর ছাত্র হলেও প্রশাসনিক কাজে নিজেকে নিয়োজিত করতে চান।

সুমেধা জানিয়েছেন যে তারা নির্বাচনী প্রচারে কাজে লাগতে পারে এমন তথ্য নিয়ে তাত্ত্বিক গবেষণা করছেন।

২০১১ সালের বিধানসভা নির্বাচনের আগে ইন্ডিয়ান ইন্সটিটিউট অফ ম্যানেজমেন্ট ইন্ডিয়ার ২ জন তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের প্রচার অভিযানে কাজ করেছিল। একইভাবে ২০১৪ সালের লোকসভা নির্বাচনের সময় ইন্ডিয়ান ইন্সটিটিউট অফ মাস কমিউনিকেশনের ২ জন দলের সঙ্গে কাজ করেছিল।
