Rajya Sabha Leader Derek O’Brien’s intervention, defending every word Dola Sen spoke on Centre depriving Bengal of funds
Sir , I don’t want to create any controversy. Sir, you gave me one or two minutes time to speak and I am very thankful to you for this. Sir, I want to clarify on what one of my Party Members has just said. The Member has said that “you have changed the name from Raj Bhawan to Lok Bhawan”. Here ‘Lok’ means People. But, what have you done for the people? She presented data demonstrating various ways in which West Bengal, and the people of West Bengal, have been deprived. She articulated these points clearly in her speech.She was explaining that. Sir, every word on that, and we respect you, Sir, and we welcomed you with open hearts and open minds that day. Some people would start shouting in the middle. Please, I would humbly request you, Sir, it would be easier for everybody to understand. “She was speaking in Bengali and you could have listened to her every word clearly if you had used your headphones. These people want to deprive West Bengal of everything. They dont like giving anything to the State of West Bengal.
