All India Trinamool Congress Youth president and MP Abhishek Banerjee while laying bare Mamata Banerjee’s Hill development report card alleged that the Bimal Gurung-led Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) is only indulging in politics of deceit.

Abhishek flagged off his Municipal election campaign trail from Darjeeling on Friday by addressing a TMC rally. “The GJM only knows how to hoodwink public. They have been betraying the simple hill folks over the years. They can go to any extent to retain their power, pelf and chairs. There has been no development in the Hills under the GJM,” claimed Abhishek.

Taking a dig at the GJM and the BJP, Banerjee stated: “As per the BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a 56 inch chest. Here in Darjeeling, the GJM leaders including Bimal Gurung and Roshan Giri have 56 inch long tongues which they use to tell lies efficiently,” alleged Abhishek.

He also stated that despite having no elected public representatives in the Hills including MLAs, MP, Municipal Councillors, Panchayats or GTA members, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has opened the floodgates of development in the Hills. “She works sincerely for the poor and the downtrodden and the Hills occupy a special place in her heart. Whatever she had committed for the Hills has been fulfilled,” Abhishek asserted.

The AITMYC President stated that as per the Chief Minister’s commitment, Lamahatta has been developed into a new tourist spot; Kalimpong has been made into a separate district; Mirik upgraded to a sub-division; 15 community-based boards have been constituted that are working for the preservation of the language and culture; a campus of Presidency College is being opened in Kurseong along with new ITIs and colleges all over the Hills.

“Despite having all public representatives under them and the four Hill Municipalities what have the GJM done in the past 5 years? They cannot boast of a single successful achievement. The state has given the Darjeeling Municipality Rs 12 crore for drinking water scheme; Rs 4 crore for street lights and Rs 15 crore for waste management. Not a single thing has been done. Where has the money gone,” questioned Abhishek.

The youth leader stated that the BJP is not sincere towards their commitments to the Hills. “BJP President visited North Bengal but did not undertake the three-hour journey to Darjeeling. Your BJP MP does not raise your voice in the Parliament,” claimed the TMC MP.

He further stated that the TMC does not resort to divisive and communal politics. “While GJM divides, we want to unite. We want to take all along in our pace of development and good governance,” he added. “Whether we win or lose, we will ensure that politics of violence, intimidation and bandh ends in the Hills. Democracy has returned and different parties along with independent candidates for the first time in a long while are taking part in Municipal elections in the Hills,” claimed Abhishek.

মোর্চাকে পাহাড়ছাড়া করার ডাক অভিষেকের

দার্জিলিঙে তৃণমূলের জনসভায় জনস্রোত। অভিষেক ব্যানার্জির ভাষণ শুনতে পাহাড়ি পাকদণ্ডীতে শুধু মানুষ আর মানুষ। সেই ভিড়ের দিকে হাত তুলে মোর্চাকে পাহাড়ছাড়া করার ডাক দিলেন যুব তৃণমূলের সভাপতি অভিষেক ব্যানার্জি।

তিনি বলেন, ‘১৭ মে–‌র পর পাহাড়বাসীর সঙ্গে ওঁদের মাথা নিচু করে কথা বলতে হবে। দার্জিলিং মানে টি ট্যুরিজম টিম্বার। এবারে এর সঙ্গে আরও একটি ‘টি’ যুক্ত হবে। সেটা হল টিএমসি।’

তিনি মোর্চাকে উদ্দেশ্য করে জানান, ‘এতদিন পাহাড়ের মানুষকে ভুল বুঝিয়ে, ভয় দেখিয়ে বারে বারে জিতে এসেছে। কিন্তু ভয় পাওয়ার দিন আর নেই। আর ভয় পাবেন না। ওরা চমকালে আপনারাও চমকাবেন। ইটের জবাব পাথর দিয়ে দিতে হবে।’ মোর্চাকে বারে বারে মিথ্যেবাদী বলে অভিহিত করেছেন অভিষেক। বলেন,‘মিথ্যে কথা বলে বলে এদের জিভ ৫৪ ইঞ্চি লম্বা হয়ে গেছে। ওখানে লাগাম টানতে হবে। আমরা মিথ্যার রাজনীতি করি না, জনগণের কাজ করি।’

মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর প্রসঙ্গে বলেন, ‘মুখ্যমন্ত্রী পাহাড়কে ভালবাসেন। পাহাড় ওঁর হৃদয়ে আছে। গত ৬ বছরে অন্তত ৭০ বার পাহাড়ে এসেছেন। পর্যটন থেকে শিক্ষা, যোগাযোগের রাস্তা থেকে পানীয় জলের জন্য সবরকম কাজ করেছেন। দার্জিলিং পুরসভাকে ১২–১৩ কোটি টাকা দিয়েছেন পানীয় জলের জন্য। পথবাতির জন্য ৪ কোটি টাকা দিয়েছেন। কিন্তু এরা কিচ্ছু করেনি। এদের কাজ একটাই, এলোমেলো করে দে মা লুটে পুটে খাই।’

Buoyed by the success of bike taxis, Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) has requested the state Transport department to allow them to ply bike taxis in Sector V, the state’s most important IT hub off Salt Lake.

K Bike taxi has so far deployed 21 taxis out of a total of 50 two-wheelers which they will introduce in phases. Meanwhile, One Man Taxi has deployed 22 two-wheelers. So far, 1,400 people have availed bike taxis.

The State Transport minister, had for the first time in the state, introduced the bike taxis at a function for New Town on March 16. Bike taxis have become immensely popular in New Town because of its affordability factor. The charge for the first two kilometres is Rs 20 and then Rs 5 per additional kilometre. There is additional helmet for the pillion rider and a panic button. Every taxi is fitted with GPS and during monsoon, there will be raincoats for pillion riders.

The drivers have been given special training and they follow the copy book riding style, that is driving the two -wheelers at a maximum speed of 40 km per hour and take the left lane and never the right or the middle lanes which are used by most of the bike riders risking their lives.

বাইক ট্যাক্সি পরিষেবা সেক্টর ফাইভেও চালু করার ভাবনা

নিউটাউনে বাইক ট্যাক্সি পরিষেবায় মিলেছে ব্যাপক সাড়া। এর সাফল্যকে ধরে রাখতে হিডকো এই পরিষেবা ছড়িয়ে দিতে চায় রাজ্যের তথ্য প্রযুক্তির প্রাণকেন্দ্র বিধাননগরের সেক্টর ৫-এও। এই বিষয়ে তাঁরা রাজ্য পরিবহণ দপ্তরকে আবেদনও জানিয়েছে।

মার্চ মাসে রাজ্য পরিবহণ দপ্তর রাজারহাট ও নিউটাউনের পরিবহণের সুবিধার্থে ২১টি বাইক নিয়ে চালু করে বাইক ট্যাক্সি পরিষেবা। তারপর চালু হয় আরও ২২টি বাইক ট্যাক্সি। এখন পর্যন্ত মোট ১৪০০জন মানুষ এই পরিষেবা গ্রহণ করেছেন।

রাজ্য পরিবহণ সংস্থা কিছু নিয়মাবলী তৈরি করেছেন যা সকল বাইক ট্যাক্সি’কে মেনে চলতে হবে। এই নিয়মাবলীগুলি তৈরি করা হয়েছে যাত্রীদের সুরক্ষা ও নিরাপত্তার কথা মাথায় রেখে। বাইক ট্যাক্সিতে থাকছে একটি প্যানিক বোতাম। এছাড়া বাইক ট্যাক্সিতে একটি অতিরিক্ত হেলমেট রাখতে হবে যেটা যাত্রী পরবেন ও বর্ষাকালের কথা মাথায় রেখে এই বাইক ট্যাক্সিতে যাত্রীদের জন্য একটি রেনকোটও থাকবে।

The Bengal Heritage Commission has taken up a project to restore three most crucial heritage buildings of the state, namely Mahishadal Rangibashan Rajbari, Dr Graham Home’s Church in Kalimpong and the house of Alexander Duff on Nimtala Ghat Street.

Several buildings with unique architecture had been developed in Mashidal in East Midnapore in the 18th century. Most of them were Rajbaris. At least 150-year-old Rangibashan Rajbari is the grandest among all.

In Kalimpong, Dr Graham’s Home was set up in the British era for destitute children and orphans. There is a century-old stone-made church situated adjacent to the home and it was heavily damaged during 2011 earthquake in Sikkim.

The third project is the house of Alexander Duff on Nimtala Ghat Street. The building once also housed Jorabagan police station.

West Bengal Heritage Commission, which is under Information and Cultural Affairs Department, had sent detailed DPRs to Ministry of Culture. It is learnt that Rs 5 crore has been granted for restoration of Alexander Duff’s house while Rs 6 crore each has been granted for Mahishadal Rangibashan Rajbari and Dr Graham Home’s Church.

The Bengal government, which has achieved tremendous success in e-governance with its e-pension project, is likely to touch another milestone by initiating the e-district programme for rural Bengal.

Bengal is among the top performing states across the country in Information Technology (IT) and e-governance sector. The government has given maximum priority to augment IT in the state through projects like e-governance.

The e-district project will bring about a revolution providing government-run services in rural Bengal. It may not be necessary to visit the government offices for submitting the applications, knowing the statuses or receiving certificates or licenses. People can get their services through internet in such cases.

According to the IT department, the project aims at providing support to the district administrations. This project would work under three specific systems – State Wide Area Network (SWAN) of connectivity, State Data Centre (SDC) for safe data storage and Common Service Centre (CSC) for service delivery.

Work for the e-district service is in the process of implementation in Jalpaiguri and Bankura districts and on its successful implementation, the same will be rolled out to the remaining districts of Bengal.

The Bengal Government is planning to distribute free ration to mothers with newborn babies across the State so that they do not suffer from malnourishment. The State Food department will distribute coupons to around 30,000 mothers across the state.

The mothers can now show the coupons to ration shops where they will be supplied with rice, wheat, grams and lentil. They would be given the coupons at the time when the leave the government hospitals or sub-centres, after giving birth to their young ones.

The Food Supply department has instructed the ration shops to provide five kg of rice, 2,5 kg of wheat, 1 kg of lentil and 1 kg of gram every month to the mothers against the coupons. The State government has made this move keeping in mind bringing down malnutrition figures among the new mothers belonging to the economically weaker class.

অপুষ্টি থেকে রক্ষা করতে নিখরচায় রেশন প্রসূতিদের

সরকারি কুপন দেখালেই এবার থেকে নিখরচায় রেশন পাবে প্রসূতি। স্বাস্থ্য দপ্তরের সঙ্গে যৌথভাবে নয়া এই কর্মসূচি আনছে খাদ্য দপ্তর। কন্যাশ্রী প্রকল্পের সফল রুপায়ণের পর আর্থিকভাবে পিছিয়ে পড়া পরিবারের প্রসূতিদের অপুষ্টির কবল থেকে রক্ষা করতেই এই পরিকল্পনা নিচ্ছে রাজ্য সরকার।

প্রথম দফায় মে মাস থেকেই এই কর্মসূচির আওতায় আসছেন রাজ্যের অন্তত ৩০ হাজার প্রসূতি। অত্যাবশ্যকীয় পণ্য সরবরাহ নিগমের আওতায় এই কর্মসূচি দ্রুত রুপায়ণ করতে ইতিমধ্যেই কোমর বেঁধে নেমে পড়েছে খাদ্য সরবরাহ দপ্তর। সরকারের এই সিদ্ধান্ত দ্রুত চালু করার জন্য রেশন ডিলারদেরও নির্দেশ দেওয়া হয়েছে।

এবার তাই রেশনে কুপন দেখালেই মে মাস থেকে প্রসূতিরা পাবেন চাল, গম, ছোলা ও মসুরি ডাল। সরকারি হাসপাতাল বা সাবসেন্টারে ওই প্রসূতির পরিবারের বার্ষিক আর্থিক আয় সম্পর্কে বিস্তারিত তথ্য জেনে যাবে খাদ্য সরবরাহ দপ্তর। তার ওপর ভিত্তি করেই কুপন দেওয়ার কাজ শুরু হয়েছে। এক বছরের জন্য এই রেশন নিখরচায় পাবেন প্রসূতি।

খাদ্য দপ্তরের তরফে রেশন দোকানের ডিলারদের যে নির্দেশ দেওয়া হয়েছে তাতে বলা হয়েছে মাসে ৫ কিলোগ্রাম চাল, ২.৫ কিলোগ্রাম গম বা আটা এবং ১ কিলোগ্রাম মসুর ডাল ও ১ কিলোগ্রাম ছোলার ডাল সরবরাহ করা হবে। নবান্ন সূত্রে খবর, গরিব পরিবারের প্রসূতিদের নিখরচায় পুষ্টিকর খাদ্য সরবরাহ করার জন্য কিছুদিন ধরেই প্রসাশনের শীর্ষস্তরে আলোচনা চলছিল। অবশেষে এই সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়েছে।

গরিব প্রসূতির মায়েরা শিশু জন্ম দেওয়ার পর যাতে অন্তত পরিমিত খাবার খেতে পারেন, সেকথা মাথায় রেখেই রাজ্য সরকারের এই পরিকল্পনা।
