Malda on fast-track of development

Malda district has witnessed phenomenal growth and development in the last seven and a half years.
Health: 1 multi-super speciality hospital, 4 fair-price medicine shops, 3 fair-price diagnostic centres in Malda Medical College and Hospital, and one in every block primary health centre (BPHC), free beds, 18 SNSUs, 2 SNCUs, 2 CCUs, 2 HDUs, 1 Mother and Child Hub (2 more being constructed); 3 nutrition rehabilitation centres (or NRC, which have reduced nutrition deficiency by 76%); 10 Waiting Huts (for pregnant women from remote areas); 1 blood bank
Schools: 301 schools established, 97 schools’ levels upgraded; 9 model schools being set up
Scholarships: More than 3.7 lakh students under Kanyashree, more than 3.13 lakh students under Sikshashree
Higher education: 1 government degree college, 3 ITIs (2 more coming up), 2 polytechnic colleges established; new courses started and library established at Gour Banga University
Kisan Mandi: 9 Kisan Mandis set up
Fruit marketing and cultivation: Special efforts taken to improve sales of Malda’s famous mangoes – organising mango festivals at Shaheed Minar, Milan Mela Complex and New Town Fairground in Kolkata, and at Baroduari in Malda, participating at the national mango festival in Delhi; setting up hot water treatment plant in Malda Pack House, which has enabled export of mangoes to Europe; organising pineapple cultivation over 70 hectares of dry areas in Habibpur and Bamongola blocks
100 Days’ Work: About 5.62 crore man-days created from FY 2013-14 to 2018-19
Housing: About 1.49 lakh people benefitted from housing schemes, including rural housing
Industry: 1 Industrial Growth Centre (Phase-I) (land for another one provided); 22 MSME clusters (including 2 handloom clusters and 2 khadi clusters) set up; 1 Food Park, 1 IT Park set up; 1 Silk Park being set up; bank loans worth Rs 5,162 crore given to MSMEs
Roads & bridges: More than 1,600 km of roads built/repaired/widened; 1 bridge built
Tourism: Tourism circuit connecting Murshidabad, Malda and Nadia; museum on Buddhist relics; 1 guest house for tourists; eco-park at Adina and Sagardighi; statue of Sri Chaitanya at Ramkeli; renovation of mausoleums
Samajik Suraksha Yojana: More than 9.1 lakh unorganised labourers enlisted
Karmatirtha: 15 Karmatirthas functioning
Sports: 487 multi-gyms, 10 mini indoor stadiums; DSA Stadium and Brindabani Maidan renovated
