Fully-operational Woodburn Ward at SSKM in 2019
The Woodburn Ward at SSKM Hospital, the premier multi-speciality hospital of the State Government, will be fully operational in early 2019. Due to its best-in-class services, a stay at the ward is one of the most sought-after hospital experiences for patients getting admitted in government hospitals.
Not just that, the Trinamool Congress Government has also decided to keep the bed charges at affordable levels – between Rs 2,000 and Rs 4,000. These rates would be impossible to match for most private hospitals.
There are a total of 40 beds in the heritage cabins of various sizes in the more-than-a-century-old Woodburn Ward. They have been undergoing renovations for quite some time. Sixteen of these are already operational for the past few months. The other 24 would open to the public by early next year.
Of the already-operational 16, the bed charge for 10 is Rs 2,500 per night and Rs 4,000 for the other six. Of the newly-renovated 24, the bed charge for 16 would be Rs 2,000 per night and for the other eight, Rs 4,000 per night.
