22 lakh Hindu Bengalis removed from the citizens’ list in Assam – is this the concern BJP has for Bengalis?: Mamata Banerjee at Kandi, Murshidabad
Today, Trinamool Congress Chairperson Mamata Banerjee addressed a big rally in Kandi in the district of Murshidabad. She tore apart the facade of progress created by the BJP government and asked the people to vote for the Trinamool to help it set up a pro-people, secular, progressive government at the Centre.

We had broken away from the Congress in 1998 because they had become ineffective in serving the aspirations of the people.
Despite the apprehensions of so many people then, we have become such a strong party – we are 21 years old today
But we are as youthful as 21 years back – we have the support of all strata of society – youth, women and all others
I have many memories of Murshidabad district from my earliest days, giving support to people in their trials and tribulations
I am happy that many workers and leaders from the Congress and CPI(M) have joined us as they have understood the ideals we stand for and realised how their own parties have sold themselves out. I am happy to have all their blessings.
The MP from here is only interested in criticising the Trinamool Congress, and has done little work for the people
I follow the ideals of Rabindranath, Nazrul, Ramakrishna, Swami Paramananda, Sister Nivedita, Abul Kalam Azad, Babasaheb Ambedkar
I too am a Hindu – but Hindus don’t believe in creating divisions among the people or inciting violence. Our Hinduism believes in creating unity by respecting other religious beliefs, and in staying together in harmony.
Bangla is in my heart and mind, in my beliefs – Bangla is what I will always fight for.
We have a leader who could not respect Gandhi or Rabindranath or Abul Kalam Azad or any of our great leaders – but only follows himself. He knows only how to instigate riots.
Employees of big companies like BSNL and Air India are not getting their salaries on time, people are not getting jobs. Jet Airways is also about to close down.
Imposing ‘notebandi’, causing suicides of farmers, instigating riots – these are the talents that Modi Babu has.
12,000 farmers have committed suicides
People from this district have been killed in other states
Prices of goods are out of control. Petrol, diesel, cooking gas prices have kept on increasing.
Demonetisation is a scam and has been a disaster for the country
Two crore youth have lost their jobs in the country
But everyone is afraid to speak against Modi and the BJP – they are creating fear in the people through CBI, and Income Tax Dept and ED raids.
Stalin, Mayawati, Akhilesh, Lalu Babu’s son, Arvind – all subjected to raids by central agencies
But Modi and his party will lose badly across the country – people will reject them – Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, and everyone else
People don’t want a Fascist Government – they want a leader like Gandhi, Netaji, Abul Kalam Azad, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Rajendra Prasad, Bhagat Singh, etc.
BJP leaders on the other hand are scaring people into submission
Therefore don’t vote for the BJP, and their friend the Congress too
The panchayat and Assembly elections, the CPI(M) and the Congress fought together and failed.
In the Bar Council elections, the CPI(M), Congress and BJP formed a joint panel to take us on.
The BJP, Congress, CPIM are working together in the State.
The CPI(M) never took action on the chit fund scams; on the other hand, we caught the owner of Saradha.
The people of Murshidabad are scared of their MP, he has instilled so much fear in the people
It is our Government that has fought for the Kandi Master Plan, we have already given Rs 400 crore. This will benefit 5 lakh people to be benefitted
Bridges, renovation of temples, Alia University, other universities, modern hospitals, free treatments, fair-price medicine shops and diagnostic centres, industry clusters, SNSUs, SNCUs, Kisan Mandis, Karmatirtha, roads, schools, colleges, minority scholarships, girls’ scholarships, Swasthya Sathi (for all) Swasthya Sathi smart cards in the name of the women of the family – these have been provided by us for all, irrespective of caste, creed and religion
Waiving off of agricultural taxes and mutation fees for for farmers, mutation fees for land, crop insurance premium is borne entirely by the State Government
Our government does what no other government in the country does
Take a firm decision to keep up the wave of development, therefore vote for the Trinamool
Don’t waste your votes by voting for the CPI(M) or Congress or anyone else, vote for us to defeat for the BJP
We want 42 out of 42 seats in Bengal

We celebrate festivals of all religions – Bengal’s culture is one of unity in diversity
Hindus and Muslims celebrate each others’ festivals together – this is what’s so special about Bangla
I too celebrate all festivals of all communities
As long as I am alive, I won’t let Bangla be divided
Therefore, throw the BJP out of power in Delhi
In the coming days, the govt in Delhi will be formed of all like-minded parties
Earlier Modi Babu called himself a chaiwallah, now, he calls himself a chowkidar – but people are saying ‘chowkidar chor hain’, we don’t want such a chowkidar
We don’t want NRC – because of NRC, people are committing suicides, families are getting divided
Citizenship Bill will make one a foreigner for six years and then be considered for citizenship – it will rob us of our rights and our livelihoods.
Modi has planned for the elections to be carried out over two months just for his own benefit, so that he can hold rallies everywhere

I appeal to the youth, to my brothers and sisters to vote for us to create a new govt at the Centre
