The state Irrigation and Waterways department has initiated taking all necessary steps to ensure supply of water till the “tail end” of Purulia district for cultivation of crops. The state Irrigation department has decided to bring in 35,000 acre of agricultural land in Purulia, which is a drought-prone district, under the irrigation project.

In a bid to make this huge challenge of providing water to this drought-prone district a reality, the state Irrigation and Waterways department has decided to carry out different projects worth Rs 30 crore this year. It includes the crucial task of restoration of canals. At the same time, the embankments of different canals will also be repaired.

It may be mentioned that once Purulia used to suffer immensely as agriculture was almost impossible due to lack of water. The scenario has changed a lot with several steps being taken in the past five-and-a-half years after the change of guard took place in the state. Now, the present government is aiming supply of water to each and every part of the district.

The Irrigation and Waterways department has already created 89 check dams only in Bankura and the work to construct another eight is going on in full swing.  It may be mentioned that the state government has brought in more 3 lakh acre of agricultural land under the irrigation programme in the current fiscal and as a result there was no shortage of water either for Rabi or Boro crops. Moreover, one lakh out of the three lakh acre comes under Jangalmahal area.

 

রাজ্যের প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চলেও জল সরবরাহ করার উদ্যোগ নিল রাজ্য সরকার

পুরুলিয়া জেলার মত প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চলেও যাতে পর্যাপ্ত জলের জোগান দিয়ে চাষবাস করা যায়, তার জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় সব পদক্ষেপ নিয়েছে রাজ্যের সেচ ও জলপথ দপ্তর। পুরুলিয়া জেলার ৩৫,০০০ একর চাষের জমিকে এই সেচ প্রকল্পের আওতায় আনার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে ওই দপ্তর।

পুরুলিয়ার মত খরা প্রবণ অঞ্চলে জল পৌঁছে দেওয়া খুব কঠিন কাজ। তাই, সেচ ও জলপথ দপ্তর ৩০ কোটি টাকা ব্যায়ে বিভিন্ন প্রকল্প গ্রহণ করেছে, খাল সংস্কার, খালগুলির বাঁধ মেরামত করা, ইত্যাদি।

উল্লেক্ষ্য, সাড়ে পাঁচ বছর আগে জলের অভাবের জন্য পুরুলিয়ায় চাষবাস ছিল প্রায় অসম্ভব। কিন্তু ২০১১ সালে পরিবর্তনের পর রাজ্য সরকার নানা উদ্যোগ নিয়েছে। সেচ ও জলপথ দপ্তর শুধু বাঁকুড়া জেলাতেই ৮৯ টি চেক ড্যাম তৈরি করেছে; আরও ৮ টি তৈরীর কাজ জোর কদমে চলছে।

রাজ্য সরকার চলতি আর্থিক বর্ষে ৩ লক্ষ একর জমিকে সেচ প্রকল্পের আওতায় নিয়ে এসেছে। এর ফলে রবি ও বোরো চাষের জন্য জলের অভাব হবে না। এই তিন লক্ষ একর জমির মধ্যে এক লক্ষ একর জমি জঙ্গলমহলে।

Surprising as it may sound, tea gardens are coming up in the newly-created Jhargram district, on the banks of the Subarnarekha. The project has been taken up by the Gopiballavpur-2 panchayat samity as part of the 100 Days’ Work scheme.

Sloping grounds have been built and the tea saplings planted. The tea saplings have been brought from Siliguri. Water has been arranged through special irrigation facilities. The plantations are being looked after by 100 Days’ Work job card-holders.

The advantages would be two-fold: employment and tourism. There are also plans to expand the tea cultivation in the district.

 

সুবর্ণরেখা নদীর বাঁধে ১০০ দিনের কাজ প্রকল্পে তৈরী হচ্ছে চা বাগান

সুবর্ণরেখা নদীর বাঁধে মাটির ঢাল তৈরী করে সেখানে চা বাগান তৈরী করছে ঝাড়গ্রাম জেলা।

গোপীবল্লভপুর-২ পঞ্চায়েত সমিতি এই প্রকল্পের কাজ চালু করেছে। ১০০ দিনের কাজে নিযুক্ত শ্রমিকদের নিযুক্ত করা হচ্ছে এই কাজে। দক্ষিণবঙ্গে তো বটেই, পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুর বা ঝাড়গ্রাম জেলায় এইভাবে চা বাগান তৈরীর উদাহরণ প্রায় নেই বললেই চলে।

গত ডিসেম্বর মাসেই শিলিগুড়ি থেকে আড়াই ফুট উচ্চতার চা গাছ এনে দেড় বিঘা জমিতে লাগানো হয়েছে। কুঠিঘাটে চা বাগান তৈরী করে কার্যত নজির তৈরি করেছে এই ব্লক।

১০০ দিনের কাজে নিযুক্ত শ্রমিকরা ঢালু জমি তৈরী করে এই চা গাছ লাগিয়েছেন। জবকার্ড হোল্ডারদের গাছ পরিচর্যার দায়িত্ব দেওয়া হয়েছে।

এই প্রকল্পের প্রধান উদ্দেশ্য, পর্যটকদের কাছে জায়গাটি আকর্ষণীয় করে তোলা এবং কর্মসংস্থান। চা চাষে সাফল্য মিললে ভবিষ্যতে আরও বেশি ঢালু জমি তৈরী করে চাষের এলাকা বাড়ানোর পরিকল্পনাও নেওয়া হবে।

The Bengal Panchayat and Rural Development is going to set up 36,000 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under the Anandadhara Scheme during financial year 2017-18.

Creating so many SHGs in just one year is something unprecedented among the State Governments. Self-Help Groups are a major source of revenue for the rural economy. They have also played a big role in making women self-sufficient.

Presently, there are 2,000 SHGs created under the aegis of the Anandadhara Scheme. As part of the scheme, each SHG is given a bank loan of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 15 lakh. The State Government is in talks with various public sector banks as well as private banks to provide loans. For repaying the loans on time, the SHGs are given bonus payments.

Development and governance have been the mantras of the Bengal Government ever since Trinamool Congress led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee came to power. The State has set up numerous schemes for the welfare of the State’s citizenry, covering their entire lifespan.

 

চলতি অর্থবর্ষে ৩৬ হাজার স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠী গঠন করবে রাজ্য সরকার

২০১৭-১৮ অর্থবর্ষের মধ্যেই রাজ্য পঞ্চায়েত ও গ্রামোন্নয়ন দপ্তর ‘আনন্দধারা’ প্রকল্পে ৩৬ হাজার স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠী গঠন করে গ্রামীণ অর্থনীতিতে জোয়ার আনতে উদ্যোগী হয়েছে।

স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠী গঠনের মধ্যে দিয়ে রাজ্যের দুস্থ পরিবারগুলিকে আর্থিকভাবে স্বনির্ভর করে তোলার প্রয়াস এর আগে কোনও রাজ্য সরকার নেয়নি। স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠী দপ্তর পৃথক ভাবে নতুন নতুন উদ্যোগে রাজ্যের মহিলাদের নিজেদের পায়ে দাঁড়াতে সাহায্য করেছে।

প্রসঙ্গত, বর্তমানে আনন্দধারা প্রকল্পের অধীনে দুই হাজারের বেশি স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠী আছে। এই প্রকল্পের অধীনে থেকে প্রত্যেক স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠীকে ১ লক্ষ থেকে ১৫ লক্ষ টাকা পর্যন্ত ব্যাঙ্ক ঋণ দেওয়া হয়।

পঞ্চায়েত দপ্তর সুত্রের খবর, বিভিন্ন রাষ্ট্রায়ত্ত ব্যাঙ্কগুলির পাশাপাশি বেশ কিছু বেসরকারি ব্যাঙ্কের সঙ্গেও কথা বলা হয়েছে। ঠিক সময় ব্যাঙ্ক ঋণ পরিশোধ করলে, গোষ্ঠীগুলিকে বোনাস দেওয়ার পাশাপাশি স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠীগুলির গুডউইল আরও বহুগুন বেড়ে যায়।

ইতিমধ্যেই আনন্দধারা প্রকল্পের মধ্যে যে সমস্ত স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠীগুলি সময় মতো ঋণ পরিশোধ করেছে তাঁদের বাড়তি বোনাস দেওয়া হয়েছে।

উন্নয়নকেই পাথেয় করেছে রাজ্য সরকার। শিশুজন্মের পরে চারা গাছ উপহার দেওয়া থেকে শুরু করে জীবনের অন্তিম লগ্নে সৎকার করার জন্য ‘সমব্যাথী প্রকল্প’-র মধ্য দিয়ে রাজ্যবাসীর জীবনচক্র জুড়ে কন্যাশ্রী, যুবশ্রী-র মতো একাধিক উন্নয়নমূলক প্রকল্পের উদ্ভাবন করেছে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়-পরিচালিত সরকার।

The office of the Directorate of Textiles (Sericulture) of the Bengal Government on Ganesh Chandra Avenue in Kolkata contains a unique collection of sericulture-related artefacts, many of them priceless, comprising the Sericulture Museum. Now plans are afoot to completely renovate the museum and make it a tourist attraction.

Among the priceless artefacts are about 150-year-old silk dresses, rare bamboo articles, beautiful showpieces made of shells, beautiful hand-woven sarees, some of which even have workings in gold.

The museum contains the first Durga idol based on a theme. It also contains various archaeological objects and other stuff.

The State Agriculture Department is doing the renovation. Besides tourists, this treasure trove is also expected to benefit students of history.

 

 

নতুন করে সাজছে সেরিকালচার মিউজিয়াম

কলকাতার গণেশচন্দ্র অ্যাভিনিউয়ের রেশম চাষের দপ্তরে রয়েছে এক আশ্চর্য সংগ্রহশালা। এই মিউজিয়ামকে নতুন করে জনগণের জন্য সাজিয়ে তুলবে রাজ্য সরকার।

এই সংগ্রহশালায় রয়েছে কমপক্ষে ১৫০ বছর আগের বাংলার রেশম বস্ত্র, যার খ্যাতি রয়েছে বিশ্বজোড়া। এছাড়াও রয়েছে বিরল বাঁশের শৌখিন দ্রব্য, সুদৃশ্য শাঁখের তৈরী শোপিস, নিপুণ হস্তশিল্পের ছোঁয়ায় নানা রকমের শাড়ি (যার কোনটার মধ্যে রয়েছে সোনার কাজ করা)।

কলকাতার প্রথম থিমের দুর্গা মূরতিটিও রয়েছে এই সংগ্রহশালায়। চোখ ধাঁধানো সম্ভার সংরক্ষিত রয়েছে কাঁচের বাক্সয় এছাড়া রয়েছে দুর্লভ প্রত্নতত্ত্ব দ্রব্য।

রাজ্য কৃষি দপ্তর এই সংগ্রহশালাটি প্রকাশ্যে আনার কাজ ইতিমধ্যেই শুরু করেছে। এই সংগ্রহশালা জনগণের জন্য খুলে দেওয়া হলে সুবিধা হবে অনেক ইতিহাসের ছাত্রছাত্রীদের।

Often it happens that wild animals enter localities, and then they have to be sent back into forests. It is the Forest Department which is tasked with this work. Then, poaching forms a major threat to the existence of many wild fauna.

The State Forest Department, naturally, is seized of the issues, and so is constantly on the lookout for ways and means to counter these in a firm manner.

As a step towards that, the Department has started a 24-hour toll-free helpline to enable people to contact its personnel regarding any concern related to the wild denizens of Bengal. After being intimated of any issue, the Forest Department would take adequate steps.

The helpline consists of three numbers – one landline number and two mobile numbers: 23340234, 9073237918, 9073237918.

 

 

বন্যপ্রাণীদের নিরাপত্তায় টোল ফ্রি নম্বর চালু করল রাজ্য বন দপ্তর

প্রায়ই লোকালয়ে ঢুকে পড়ে বন্যপ্রাণীরা, তখন তাদের আবার বনে ফেরত পাঠাতে হয়। চোরাশিকারের ফলে সারা পৃথিবী থেকে হারিয়ে যাচ্ছে বহু প্রাণী, এই অপরাধ আটকানো খুব প্রয়োজন।

এই ব্যাপারে সবসময়ই তৎপর রাজ্য বন দপ্তর। এবার তারা নিলেন আরও এক দৃঢ় পদক্ষেপ। তারা নিয়ে এলেন বন দপ্তরের ২৪ ঘণ্টার টোল ফ্রি নম্বর।

এই টোল ফ্রি নম্বরের মাধ্যমে রাজ্যের সকল প্রান্তের মানুষ ২৪ ঘণ্টা বন্যপ্রাণী সংক্রান্ত যেকোনো প্রয়োজনে বন দপ্তরের সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ করতে পারবেন। বন দপ্তরও মুহূর্তের মধ্যে উপযুক্ত ব্যাবস্থা নিতে পারবেন।

State-of-the-art water taxis are soon going to run from Haldia to Farakka along the Hooghly River.

The Bengal Government has taken up this project with financial assistance from the World Bank. Other water craft projects and waterway-related infrastructure projects with assistance from the World Bank include include the acquisition of modern crafts and of RORO (roll-on roll-off) vessels for transport of loaded cars, trucks and buses, for multiple waterways in the State, construction and renovation of jetties, and cruise carriers like those in many foreign countries.

A total of four cruise vessels and 50 water taxis would be introduced.

The water taxi project has been divided into two portions – part one from Haldia to Triveni, costing Rs 1,021 crore and part two from Triveni to Farakka.

The first part of the project would include construction of 56 jetties and renovation of 24, and seven jetties for RORO vessels; the locations of the latter would be decided after taking into consideration the locations of bridges. The ROROs would be able to carry both passenger-laden and goods-laden vehicles. This would save both time and money. Approach roads would also be built to connect the jetties for RORO vessels.

These river projects would also help in attracting more tourists, both domestic and foreign.

 

ফারাক্কা থেকে হলদিয়া সাজছে গঙ্গা, প্রমোদ ভ্রমণে ওয়াটার ট্যাক্সি, ক্রুজ

গঙ্গাবক্ষে হলদিয়া থেকে ফারাক্কা পর্যন্ত জলপথ উন্নয়ন ও সামগ্রিক অত্যাধুনিক পরিকাঠামো তৈরীতে চালু হবে ওয়াটার ট্যাক্সি।

বিশ্বব্যাংকের সহায়তায় রাজ্য সরকার এই প্রকল্পের অধীনে গঙ্গার দু’ধারে নতুন জেটি, পুরানো জেটির সংস্কার, নয়া আধুনিক জলযান, একাধিক জায়গায় গাড়ি, বাস, ট্রাক পারাপারের জন্য রোরো (যানবাহন পারাপারের বড় ভেসেল) তৈরীর পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে।বিদেশের মতো গঙ্গাবক্ষে প্রমোদ ভ্রমণে একাধিক ক্রুজ ও ওয়াটার ট্যাক্সি নামানোর কথা রয়েছে।

এই প্রকল্পের কাজ দু’টি পর্বে ভাগ করা রয়েছে। প্রথম পর্বে হলদিয়া থেকে ত্রিবেণী পর্যন্ত গঙ্গাপথের কাজ করা হবে। এই কাজের জন্য মোট ব্যয় ধরা হয়েছে ১ হাজার ২১ কোটি টাকা। ত্রিবেণী থেকে ফারাক্কা পর্যন্ত কাজ দ্বিতীয় পর্বে করা হবে।

প্রথম পর্বের মধ্যে রয়েছে মোট ৫৬টি নতুন জেটি তৈরি ও ২৪টি জেটি সংস্কারের বিষয়টি। এছাড়া তৈরী হবে সাতটি রোরো। বর্তমানে গঙ্গার উপর যে সব ব্রিজ রয়েছে, তার অবস্থান বিচার করে রোরোগুলি তৈরীর জায়গা ঠিক করা হবে। এই রোরোর মাধ্যমে পণ্যবাহী এবং যাত্রীবাহী গাড়ি পারাপার করানো যাবে। তাতে একইসঙ্গে সময় এবং খরচ দুটোই বাঁচবে। যে সব জায়গায় রোরোগুলি তৈরি করা হবে, সেখানে গঙ্গার দু’পাড়েই অ্যাপ্রোচ রোড তৈরী করা হবে।

এই প্রকল্পের অধীনে ১৬০টি স্টিল ভেসেল ও ১৬০টি কাঠের ভেসেল তৈরির পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে।এর মাধ্যমে জলপথে প্রয়োজনীয় পরিকাঠামো থাকলে পর্যটনকেও উন্নত করার সুযোগ তৈরী হবে। দেশি-বিদেশি পর্যটকদের কাছে এ রাজ্যকে আরও আকর্ষণীয় করে তুলতে চারটি ক্রুজ ভেসেল এবং ৫০টি ওয়াটার ট্যাক্সি নামানোর বিষয়টিও রয়েছে প্রকল্পের মধ্যে।

The Bengal Government’s Purba Bardhaman District Literacy Mission has launched a beautiful calendar celebrating the Kanyashree Scheme for the girl child. The calendar portrays the new Bengali year, 1424.

This internationally-feted scheme, the brainchild of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, has been one of the landmark achievements of the six-year old Trinamool Congress Government in Bengal.

The calendar has six pages, each depicting a girl child.

 

  • The page for the months of Baisakh and Jaishtha depicts a girl child wearing an engineer’s helmet, expressing her wish to become an engineer and building cities, houses, bridges and factories.
  • The page for Ashadh and Sravan depicts a girl child aiming to become a police officer and protecting the law of the land and ensuring a law-abiding society.
  • The page for Bhadra and Ashvin depicts a girl child dreaming of becoming a pilot and exploring the world.
  • The page for Kartik and Agrahayan depicts a would-be doctor.
  • The page for Poush and Magh depicts a girl holding a badminton racket and a trophy, saying that Kanyashree has given her the courage to become a champion sportsperson.
  • The page for Falgun and Chaitra depicts a girl expressing her wish to become a teacher and through the profession, creating ideal citizens.

Biswa Bangla Convention Centre to be inaugurated in July

Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) has fixed July as the target date to open the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre. The state government has decided to hold the two-day Bengal Global Business Summit, 2018, at the Convention Centre.

The Convention Centre will have a 3,000 capacity auditorium, the biggest in the state. There is a hotel that has a capacity of 100 and will be run by a private player. The Centre will have accommodation for guests, a gymnasium, a library and halls to hold seminars and symposia. The Centre is coming up beside the Bagjola canal whose beautification process has already begun.

A floating jetty will be constructed and the state government also proposes to set up a floating vegetable market. The pathway has been developed and chairs and umbrellas have been installed too.

The Convention Centre is situated close to Rajarhat’s Eco Park and Rabindra Tirtha, the main cultural hub in New Town. A model of the proposed centre was shown at Bengal Global Business Summit and it had evoked great response among people.

 

জুলাই মাসে উদ্বোধন হবে বিশ্ববাংলা কনভেনশন সেন্টার

আগামী জুলাই মাসে উদ্বোধন হবে পূর্ব ভারতের সর্ববৃহৎ বিশ্ববাংলা কনভেনশন সেন্টারের।

আঠারো তলার এই সেন্টারটি তৈরি হচ্ছে ৪.৫৭ লক্ষ বর্গফুট এলাকার ওপর। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের নির্দেশেই কনভেনশন সেন্টারের কাজ শুরু হয়। এখানে রয়েছে একটি কনফারেন্স রুম যেখানে প্রায় ৩০০০ সিট রয়েছে।

একইসঙ্গে শিল্প সম্মেলনের সুবিধাও রয়েছে। এই সেন্টারে ২টি সেমিনার কক্ষ থাকবে, তার প্রতিটিতে থাকবে ৩৪৬টি সিট। একই ক্যাম্পাসের মধ্যে ৪ টি খাবার ঘর সহ ১০০ টি হোটেল রুম থাকবে। এছাড়া এখানে মাল্টি লেভেল গাড়ী পার্কিং সুবিধা থাকছে। ইতিমধ্যেই এই কনভেনশন সেন্টারের জন্য বুকিং শুরু হয়ে গেছে।

এই সেন্টারটি শহরের সবচেয়ে জনপ্রিয় পর্যটন কেন্দ্র ইকো পার্কের মাদার ওয়াক্স মিউজিয়ামের কাছেই অবস্থিত। কনভেনশান সেন্টারের কাছে অবস্থিত বাগজোলা খালটিরও সৌন্দর্যায়ন করা হচ্ছে। খালের পাড় সংস্কার করা হচ্ছে। ভাসমান জেটিও তৈরি হবে।

In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Backward Class Welfare Department (BCW) will set up hostels exclusively for tribal boys and girls taking training in sports. The sports which have been identified and in which training will be given, to tribal boys and girls, include chess, football, athletics and archery.

It may be recalled that after coming to power in 2011, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had taken up schemes to provide training to SC and ST students and the youth to make them self-reliant.

These hostels will have all relevant facilities like gymnasiums, cafeteria, rooms for trainees, lobbies, Wi-Fi facilities and well-stocked libraries. One each will be built in Siliguri and Jalpaiguri, and two in Kolkata. The accommodation will be free of cost. Tribal boys and girls displaying potential will be selected from across the districts and brought to the hostels to be housed in.

The BCW Department has already begun the talent hunt. Around 1,000 tribal boys and girls studying in classes from V to IX are being given coaching in chess to find out their potential for the sport. The department will take six to seven months to complete the talent hunt. The formal coaching will commence after that. The trainees will be provided with all modern facilities.

 

আদিবাসী ছেলেমেয়েদের খেলাধুলায় প্রশিক্ষণ দিতে হোস্টেল গড়ছে রাজ্য সরকার

আদিবাসী ছেলেমেয়েদের খেলাধুলায় প্রশিক্ষণ দিতে হোস্টেল গড়ছে রাজ্য সরকার। যেসকল খেলায় তাদের প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়া হবে তাও নির্দিষ্ট করা হয়েছে – দাবা, ফুটবল, তিরন্দাজি ও অ্যাথলেটিক্স।

২০১১ সালে ক্ষমতায় আসার পর মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় অনেক প্রকল্প নিয়েছেন যাতে তপসিলি জাতি ও উপজাতির ছাত্র-যুবরা স্বনির্ভর হতে পারে।

এই হোস্টেলগুলিতে থাকবে ১০০ জন প্রশিক্ষক, জিম, ক্যাফেটেরিয়া, প্রশিক্ষকদের কক্ষ, লবি ও একটি গ্রন্থাগার। পাওয়া যাবে ওয়াই ফাই পরিষেবা।

হোস্টেলগুলি হবে জলপাইগুড়ি ও শিলিগুড়িতে; আরও দুটি হবে কলকাতায়।আবাসিকরা এখানে বিনামুল্যে থাকতে পারবে। বিভিন্ন জেলা থেকে নির্বাচিত ছাত্রছাত্রীদের আনা হবে এই হোস্টেলগুলিতে।

অনগ্রসর শ্রেণী কল্যাণ দপ্তর ইতিমধ্যেই এই প্রতিভাদের নির্বাচন শুরু করে দিয়েছে। ১০০০ জন আদিবাসী ছেলে মেয়েকে দাবা খেলার প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়া হচ্ছে। ছয় থেকে সাত মাসের মধ্যেই এই প্রতিভার সন্ধান সম্পন্ন হবে।

Trinamool Congress swept the Kanthi Dakshin by-polls by a margin of 42,526 votes, with the people reaffirming their faith in Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress Chairperson Mamata Banerjee. The huge win saw Trinamool Congress bettering the 2016 Assembly election results, where the winning margin was around 34,000 votes.

The party had fielded the Trinamool Mahila Congress President Chandrima Bhattacharyya from this seat. She had covered almost every panchayat and municipality area of the Kanthi Dakshin constituency, meeting the people and intimating them about the success of the Trinamool Congress Government under Mamata Banerjee. The polling, which was conducted on Sunday, April 9, 2017, saw around 83% turnout.

The Trinamool Congress candidate Chandrima Bhattacharyya received 95,369 votes, which is  55.89% share of the total votes.

The seat was vacated as Dibyendu Adhikari had resigned after he was elected to the Lok Sabha.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has congratulated the Maa-Mati-Manush for the verdict of victory in the Dakshin Kanthi Assembly by-polls.

The Chief Minister said, “We are grateful to the people for supporting our developmental work. The support the people have shown for us would help us to work peacefully for them”.

 

 

উপনির্বাচনে জয় বিপুল ভোটে, মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের ওপরেই আস্থা দক্ষিণ কাঁথির

কাঁথি দক্ষিণ বিধানসভা কেন্দ্রের উপনির্বাচনে ৪২ হাজার ৫২৬ ভোটে জয়ী হল তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস। এই জয় আরও একবার মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের প্রতি সাধারণ মানুষের আস্থা-বিশ্বাস প্রমাণ করল। গত ২০১৬ বিধানসভা নির্বাচনে বিপুল ভোট পেয়ে জয়ী হয়েছিল তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস যার ব্যবধান ছিল ৩৪ হাজার ভোট।

এবছর তৃণমূল মহিলা কংগ্রেসের সভাপতি চন্দ্রিমা ভট্টাচার্যকে এই আসনে প্রার্থী নির্বাচন করে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস। গত রবিবার, ৯ এপ্রিল, ২০১৭ নির্বাচন হয়েছিল, প্রায় ৮৩% ভোট পড়েছিল।

তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস প্রার্থী চন্দ্রিমা ভট্টাচার্য এবার ৯৫ হাজার ৩৬৯ ভোট (৫৫.৮৯ শতাংশ) পেয়ে জয়ী হয়েছেন।

২০১৬ সালে দক্ষিণ কাঁথি বিধানসভা কেন্দ্রে জয়ী হন তৃণমূলের দিব্যেন্দু অধিকারী।

এই জয় উপলক্ষে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী সকলকে অভিনন্দন ও শুভেচ্ছা জানিয়েছেন। তিনি বলেছেন,“মা-মাটি-মানুষকে আমার অভিনন্দন। মানুষ আমাদের কাজ সমর্থন করেছে তাই আমরা কৃতজ্ঞ। মানুষের এই সমর্থন আগামী দিনে আমাদের নরম মনোভাব নিয়ে কাজ করতে সাহায্য করবে”।
