The countdown has begun for the historic moment on Wednesday, when Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will hand over ‘parchas’ and compensation cheques to Singur farmers – less than 15 days after the Supreme Court quashed the acquisition of over 900 acre of land.

The state government will hand over ‘parchas’ to 9,117 farmers that establish their ownership over their pieces of land and distribute cheques among 800 farmers who had not taken compensation earlier protesting against the acquisition of land by the erstwhile Left Front government for Tata’s Nano project.

Lakhs of people will pour in to Singur from different parts of the state to celebrate with farmers, who will be getting back their rights after a decade-long struggle.

A 4,000 sq feet dais has already been set up near the spot where Mamata Banerjee carried out her dharna. Giant screens have been be set up at various places in the area to help people watch the handing over ceremony.

বাজেমেলিয়া, জয়মোল্লা, শানাপাড়া, বেড়াবেড়ি, গোপালনগর, খাসেরভেড়ি গ্রামে আর অরন্ধন নয়, আজ থেকে শুরু নবান্ন৷ হারানো সবুজ ধানের খেতে আবার লাঙল নিয়ে নামার স্বপ্নপূরণ৷ বিকেল চারটেয় ঐতিহাসিক জনসভায় কৃষকদের হাতে জমির পরচা তুলে দেবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী৷ আর তার সঙ্গে দশ বছর ধরে চলা সিঙ্গুর আন্দোলনের পরিসমাপ্তি৷

দুর্গাপুজোর আগেই এক অন্য পুজোর ছবি গোটা সিঙ্গুরজুড়ে৷ অতি উৎসাহীদের স্লোগান৷ চিৎকার আবেগমথিতদের৷ তৈরি উৎসবের মঞ্চও৷ মূল মঞ্চ ৯০x৩২ ফুট৷ উচ্চতায় সাড়ে সাত ফুট৷ পিছনের দিকে থাকছে ৪৮x৮ ফুট, উচ্চতায় ৯ ফুটের আরও একটি মঞ্চ৷ এককথায় নজিরবিহীন আয়োজন৷ আমন্ত্রিত সিঙ্গুর আন্দোলনের সঙ্গে যুক্ত সবাই,  এছাড়াও গোটা তৃণমূল পরিবার, মন্ত্রী থেকে সাংসদ, বিধায়ক থেকে জনপ্রতিনিধি৷ সব পথ আজ মিশবে বিজয় উৎসবে৷ অনুমান লক্ষাধিক মানুষ এই ঐতিহাসিক দিনটির সাক্ষী থাকতে যাচ্ছেন সিঙ্গুরে৷

অনশন থেকে সত্যাগ্রহ, এই সিঙ্গুরের জন্য নিজের জীবন বাজি রেখে লড়াই করেছিলেন মমতা৷ ২০১১ সালে বামফ্রণ্ট সরকারকে পরাজিত করার পর ঘোষণা করেছিলেন, সিঙ্গুরের কৃষকের জমি ফেরত দেওয়াই তাঁর প্রধান লক্ষ্য৷ এমনকী, এ বছর দ্বিতীয়বার জয়ের পরও মমতা আদালতে ঝুলে থাকা সিঙ্গুর মামলা নিয়ে বলেছিলেন, ‘‘একটাই কাজ আমার বাকি, বিশ্বাস করি সিঙ্গুরের কৃষকরা জমি ফেরত পাবেনই৷” তাঁর বিশ্বাস ছিল, মামলায় তাঁরা জিতবেনই৷ বাস্তবে তা-ই হয়েছে৷ আজ সুপ্রিম কোর্টের রায় মেনে তিনি নিজে কৃষকদের হাতে তাঁদের হারানো জমি ফেরত দেওয়ার প্রক্রিয়া শুরু করবেন এবং তা চাষযোগ্য করেই৷

বুধবার তাই এক অন্য ভোরের সাক্ষী হতে তৈরি সিঙ্গুর৷

In the course of a press conference at Nabanna today, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee came down strongly on the incidents reported from several places last night of vigilante groups going around looking for cows tied up to be slaughtered for Bakr Eid, and releasing them.

She said, this is an attempt to create disharmony among the people on the basis of religion, and warned everyone against playing such dirty games.

The Chief Minister said that all festivals are celebrated in Bengal with equal fervour and that, India being a secular country, no one will be allowed to spread violence in the name of religion. She requested everyone to refrain from getting provoked by untoward elements bent on spreading hatred.

Mamata Banerjee has always stood for the equality of all religions. As she said, “Everyone has the right to follow any religion”, and also eat according to one’s wishes.

আজ নবান্নে সাংবাদিকদের মুখোমুখি হন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। বখরি ঈদে সকলকে অভিনন্দন ও শুভেচ্ছা জানিয়ে তিনি বলেন সামনেই বখরি ঈদ আর তার আগেই কিছু মানুষ গরু নিয়ে রাজনীতি করছে।

তিনি বলেন, “মানুষ কি খাবে কি পরবে সেটা তার গণতান্ত্রিক অধিকার, তাতে কেউ হস্তক্ষেপ করতে পারে না। প্রত্যেকের অধিকার আছে তাদের নিজ নিজ ধর্ম পালন করার”।

তিনি আরও বলেন, “ভারতবর্ষের ধর্ম সনাতন ধর্ম। সবাইকে ভালবেসে সবাইকে আপন করে নেওয়ার নাম মানবিকতা। আদর্শ নিয়ে রাজনীতি হওয়া উচিত। কিছু কিছু রাজনৈতিক দলের কোন দায়বদ্ধতা নেই, তারা দেশকেও ভালোবাসে না, মানুষকেও ভালোবাসেনা। তারা শুধু হিংসার রাজনীতি করে”।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, “ভারতবর্ষ ধর্মনিরপেক্ষ দেশ। আমরা ধর্মনিরপেক্ষতায় বিশ্বাস করি,এখানে সকলের সমান অধিকার। এখানে ধর্মের নামে হিংসা আমরা বরদাস্ত করব না”।

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed a press conference at Nabanna today, ahead of the Singur Diwas rally on Wednesday.

In its judgement, the Supreme Court had ordered that the land in Singur, which was with the Tatas, be returned to the original owners. In accordance with that, over the last few days, the State Government has been working on a war footing to complete the land survey to identify which portion belongs to whom, and return them in good time.

During the press conference, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that survey work on 620 acres, which is around one-third of the total area to be surveyed, would be completed by tomorrow. She added that on Wednesday, 800 people will be given out cheques in accordance with their land holdings and 9,117 people would be given out land deeds, from the venue of the meeting.

The Chief Minister said that the land parcels to be returned comprise prime agricultural land, and they would be used for the purpose of farming.

There has been substantial progress in the land survey work during the last 10 days, and all the work would be completed soon.

 

সিঙ্গুর দিবসে কৃষকদের হাতে চেক ও জমির দলিল তুলে দেবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

আজ সিঙ্গুর নিয়ে নবান্নে উচ্চ পর্যায়ের বৈঠকের করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। বৈঠক শেষে সাংবাদিকদের মুখোমুখি হয়ে তিনি বলেন, “১০ দিনে সিঙ্গুরে জমি সমীক্ষার কাজ ভাল হয়েছে। আগামীকাল ৬২০ একর জমি চিহ্নিতকরণ ও সমীক্ষার কাজ শেষ হব। সুপ্রিম কোর্টের রায় মেনেই কাজ করা হচ্ছে। সন্তোষজনক কাজ হয়েছে”।

আগামী ১৪ সেপ্টেম্বর সিঙ্গুরে সমাবেশ করবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।

তিনি জানান, “আগামী ১৪ তারিখ ৮০০ জন কৃষককে ক্ষতিপূরণের চেক দেওয়া হবে এবং ৯১১৭ জনকে জমির দলিল আর পড়চা দেওয়া হবে”।

জমি যতদিন না চাষের উপযোগী হচ্ছে ততদিন সিঙ্গুরের অনিচ্ছুক চাষিদের ২ হাজার টাকা করে অনুদান দেওয়া হবে।জমি চাষযোগ্য করতে বেশ কিছু প্যাকেজ দেবে রাজ্য সরকার।

With less than 50 days to go for Durga Puja, West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Limited (WBTDCL) has unveiled a host of packages for tourists wanting to experience one of India’s biggest festivals.

Fifteen packages have been unveiled by WBTDCL covering Durga Puja pandals in Kolkata, on the outskirts of Kolkata and in north Bengal, and a cruise package and one for immersion trips.

The first tour is scheduled for September 30, on the occasion of Mahalaya.

There are three tours within Kolkata named Udbodhani, covering some of the grandest built pandals (pre-Puja whole-night tours on October 5, 6 and 7), and Sanatani-I and Sanatani-II, covering the Durga Pujas in the erstwhile zamindar households (morning tours on October 8, 9 and 10 for both I and II).

Another set of tours covers the traditional Durga Pujas on the outskirts of Kolkata. The different tours are Hooghly Safar, Rarbanger Puja-I, Rarbanger Puja-II, Surul Rajbari in Birbhum, Kashim Bazar Rajbari in Murshidabad and Bijaya Package to Bishnupur, covering the period from October 8 to October 13.

The various north Bengal tours are North Bengal Puja Package-I (pujas of Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar Rajbari), North Bengal Puja Package-II (pujas of Jalpaiguri and Malbazar, and forest safari in Medhla) and North Bengal Puja Package-III (same as the package-II), from October 8 to October 10.

Besides these, there is a cruise package consisting of Durga Puja on board along with cultural programmes. There are morning and evening trips from October 7 to October 11.

There are also two trips covering the grand spectacles of the immersions of the idols at Babughat (two trips on October 13).

For some of the trips there are options of AC and non-AC buses, and some of the packages include lunch or dinner.

দুর্গাপুজো উপলক্ষে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের ভ্রমণ প্যাকেজ

দুর্গাপুজোর আর ৫০ দিনও বাকি নেই। ইতিমধ্যেই পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পর্যটন উন্নয়ন কর্পোরেশন লিমিটেড (WBTDCL) একটি বিশাল প্যাকেজের ব্যবস্থা করেছে।

পনেরো প্যাকেজের আয়োজন করা হয়েছে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পর্যটন উন্নয়ন কর্পোরেশন লিমিটেডের তরফে। কলকাতা, কলকাতার উপকণ্ঠে এবং উত্তরবঙ্গের পুজো প্যান্ডেল মিলিয়ে মোট ১৫ টি প্যাকেজ রয়েছে। এর সঙ্গে একটি সমুদ্রভ্রমণ প্যাকেজ এবং একটি প্রতিমা বিসর্জন ভ্রমণের প্যাকেজও রয়েছে।

মহালয়া উপলক্ষে, প্রথম সফর নির্ধারিত হয়েছে ৩০ সেপ্টেম্বর।

কলকাতার মধ্যে তিনটি ট্যুর হবে যার নাম উদ্বোধনী,(৫,৬ ও ৭ অক্টোবর সারা রাত) সনাতনী-১, সনাতনী-২, এর সঙ্গে দেখানো হবে জমিদার বাড়ির পুজোগুলোও (৮,৯ ও ১০ অক্টোবর সকালে)।

এছাড়া কলকাতার বাইরে ঐতিহ্যবাহী দুর্গা পুজোগুলিরও একটি প্যাকেজ রয়েছে। সেগুলি হল হুগলী সফর, রাঢ়বঙ্গের পুজো-১, রাঢ়বঙ্গের পুজো-২, বীরভূমের সুরুল রাজবাড়ি, মুর্শিদাবাদের কাসিম বাজার রাজবাড়ী এবং বিষ্ণুপুরে বিজয়াপ্যাকেজ রয়েছে। ৮অক্টোবর থেকে 13 অক্টোবর পর্যন্ত এই ভ্রমণগুলির সময় নির্ধারণ হয়েছে।

উত্তরবঙ্গের বিভিন্ন ট্যুর প্যাকেজ রয়েছে। যেমন-উত্তরবঙ্গ পূজা প্যাকেজ-১ (জলপাইগুড়ি ও কোচবিহার রাজবাড়ির পূজো)  উত্তরবঙ্গের পূজা প্যাকেজ -২ ও উত্তরবঙ্গ পূজা প্যাকেজ -৩ (জলপাইগুড়ি ও মালবাজার, এবং মেধলার ফরেস্ট সাফারি) ৮ অক্টোবর থেকে ১০ অক্টোবর এর সময় নির্ধারিত হয়েছে।

এসবের পাশাপাশি, একটি ক্রুজ প্যাকেজ ও রয়েছে এবং সেখানে বিভিন্ন সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠানের ব্যবস্থা থাকবে। ৭ থেকে ১১ অক্টোবর প্রতিদিন সকাল ও সন্ধ্যায় ট্রিপ হবে।

এছাড়া ১৩ অক্টোবর বাবুঘাটে প্রতিমা বিসর্জনেরও দুটি ট্যুর প্যাকেজ রয়েছে।

কিছু কিছু ট্রিপের ক্ষেত্রে এসি ও নন এসি বাসেরও অপশন আছে এবং প্যাকেজের মধ্যে লাঞ্চ বা ডিনার অন্তর্ভুক্ত।

The state government has formed a Group of Secretaries (GoS) to recommend the suitable investment model that to be taken up to develop the first state-owned deep sea port in Tajpur, West Bengal.

The policy was formed in the meeting of Cabinet Standing Committee on Industry headed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Nabanna on Wednesday.

In a press conference in Nabanna on Wednesday, Dr Amit Mitra that that the firm, CRISIL has submitted the report and they have also recommended a set of investment models besides assessing the profit to be generated once the port becomes fully functional.

The GoS will be headed by the Chief Secretary with principal secretaries of the departments who are related to the project like transport and finance, as other members.

The GoS has been formed to talk to experts in construction of ports and submit a report after studying the transaction advisory report of CRISIL suggesting the model that the state should take up within the next 10 to 15 days. The report of GoS will be the report of the state government complementing the report of CRISIL that had prepared the detailed project report. He said there are two basic models.

The State has to make an initial investment to attract investors if equity model is taken up or there is open tendering model that would need private investment from the very beginning or else there is also provision for “hybrid model”. But whatever the model would be, bidding through e-tendering will be done. Within a month after the GoS submits its report to the Chief Minister, the Request for Proposal for bidding will be issued and it would take around three to three and half years to complete the Phase-I of the project that will come up at a cost of Rs 5,000 crore.

In Phase-I, six of the total 15 berths will be constructed and rest of the nine berths will come up in Phase-II.

All the terminals will be multipurpose ones. There will be facilities to handle petroleum, dry bulk cargo and container cargoes in all the terminals. Moreover, there would be dredging work of only 18.8 km channels.

The silt that would be dredged out will be used again to form a reclaim land of a dimension of 2 km in length and 2.5 km in breadth on which the major portion of the port will come up. Thus there is no need of any land acquisition.

Vessels with a parcel size of 60,000 tonnes will able to avail the port with 15 metre draft which is several times more than that of the Haldia Port.

Dr Mitra said as per the projection of CRISIL, there will be 15.9 per cent post tax internal rate of return (IRR) and 20.2 per cent would be the post tax equity internal rate of return. Moreover, the next present value project cost would be Rs 2,199 crore over the next 30 years which suggests that it is going to be a highly profitable port.

The port is situated just at a distance of 8 km from the state highway. The nearest railway point is just 12 km away. Thus, there no much expenditure needed for infrastructure like construction of bridges as it is required for the Sagar port.

At the same time two ports will come up in Kulpi including one with a ship breaking and building unit.

 

তাজপুরে গভীর সমুদ্রবন্দর তৈরি করছে রাজ্য সরকার

কলকাতা, হলদিয়ার পর আরও চারটি বন্দর তৈরি হচ্ছে রাজ্যে৷ তাজপুর ও শঙ্করপুরের মাঝে তাজপুর গভীর সমুদ্র বন্দর তৈরি  করছে রাজ্য৷

পাশাপাশি দক্ষিণ ২৪ পরগনার কুলপিতেও একটি বন্দর তৈরির প্রক্রিয়া শুরু হয়েছে৷ এ ক্ষেত্রে প্রথম পর্যায়ে ৫ হাজার কোটি টাকা বিনিয়োগ করবে রাজ্য সরকার। বন্দরকে ঘিরে শিল্পতালুক গড়ে উঠবে ও প্রচুর কর্মসংস্থানের সুযোগ মিলবে বলে মনে করছেন রাজ্যের আধিকারিকরাও৷

বুধবার মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর নেতৃত্বে শিল্প বিষয়ক ক্যাবিনেট স্ট্যান্ডিং কমিটির বৈঠকে তাজপুরে গভীর সমুদ্র বন্দর তৈরির প্রক্রিয়া অনুমোদিত হয় ৷ রাজ্য সরকারের সচিবদের নিয়ে একটি উচ্চ পর্যায়ের কমিটি গঠন করা হচ্ছে৷ ১৫ দিনের মধ্যে ‘গ্রুপ অফ সেক্রেটারিজ’ রিপোর্ট দেবে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীকে৷

শিল্প ও অর্থমন্ত্রী অমিত মিত্র জানিয়েছেন, আগামী তিন থেকে সাড়ে তিন বছরের মধ্যে প্রথম পর্যায়ের কাজ শেষ হবে৷ প্রথম পর্যায়ে প্রায় পাঁচ হাজার কোটি টাকা খরচ হবে৷ যেহেতু ১১৬ বি জাতীয় সড়ক থেকে ওই এলাকার দূরত্ব মাত্র আট কিলোমিটার ও কাঁথি রেলস্টেশন থেকে বড়জোর ২৩ কিলোমিটার, তাই পরিকাঠামোর ক্ষেত্রে খুব বেশি খরচ করতে হবে না রাজ্যকে৷

শিল্পমন্ত্রীর কথায়, “কোনও ব্রিজ করতে হবে না৷ কাছের রেল পয়েন্ট প্রায় ১২ কিলোমিটার৷ পরিকাঠামোয় খরচ করতে হবে ১৬০ কোটি টাকার মতো৷ সবমিলিয়ে প্রায় ১৫ মিটারের মতো গভীর হবে এই সমুদ্র বন্দর৷ সমুদ্র থেকে তৈরি করতে হবে প্রায় ১৮ কিলোমিটার চ্যানেল৷ এর ফলে বড় জাহাজ আসতে পারবে”।

তিনি আরও জানান, “প্রথম দফায় ছটি বার্থ তৈরি করা হবে৷ পরের দফায় হবে ৯টি বার্থ৷ তাজপুরের প্রত্যেকটি টার্মিনাল বহুমুখী কাজের হবে৷ ড্রাই কার্গোর সঙ্গে কন্টেনার কার্গো হিসাবেও কাজ করতে পারবে”।

The newly formed Government of West Bengal, headed by Trinamool Congress in its second consecutive term, has taken up the agenda of bettering administrative work from where it left off in January 2016.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the first administrative meeting of the new Government was held today at Town Hall.

At a press conference after the meeting, the Chief Minister said, “During the last five years, our Government has done a lot of developmental work. Despite the load of debts, we have enabled the State to prosper on all fronts. The amount of spending on development-related activities has trebled during the last five years.”

“The Centre has stopped the flow of funds but we have kept up the work on all the previously Centre-funded projects by spending from our own treasury. Over the last five years, there has been 105 administrative meetings in all the districts. Infrastructure and assets have doubled during the last five years.”

About the Aadhar Card, she said that since everyone in the State has not received them, it should not be made mandatory for accessing Government services.

She also announced that she would conduct the first block-level administrative meeting of the new Government on June 14 in Jangalmahal.

Since 2011, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has chaired 105 administrative meetings, in all the 20 districts of the State, resulting in the much quicker implementation of developmental activities.

 

 

বাংলা হবে বিশ্বসেরাঃ মুখ্যমন্ত্রী 

নতুন সরকার হিসেবে পশ্চিমবঙ্গে দ্বিতীয় বার শপথ নেওয়ার পর আজই ছিল তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের প্রথম প্রশাসনিক বৈঠক। টাউন হলে দপ্তরগুলির সঙ্গে শেষ পর্যালোচনা বৈঠক মুখ্যমন্ত্রী করেন গত জানুয়ারি মাসে।

আজ মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের নেতৃত্বে  টাউন হলে প্রথম প্রশাসনিক পর্যালোচনা বৈঠকে সব দপ্তরের মন্ত্রী, সচিব ও পদস্থ আধিকারিকদের পাশাপাশি জেলাশাসক ও পুলিশ সুপাররাও এই বৈঠকে উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

বৈঠক শেষের পর সাংবাদিকদের মুখোমুখি হয়ে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী জানান আজ বিভিন্ন দপ্তরের পূর্বে করা বিভিন্ন কাজ এবং ভবিষ্যতের পরিকল্পনা নিয়ে আলোচনা হয়েছে। তিনি বলেন, “আমাদের সরকার গত ৫ বছরে প্রচুর উন্নয়নমূলক কাজ করেছে। বিপুল ঋণের বোঝা থাকা সত্ত্বেও রাজ্যে ব্যাপক উন্নয়ন হয়েছে। গত পাঁচ বছরে রাজ্যের পরিকল্পিত ব্যয় তিন গুণ বৃদ্ধি হয়েছে, এটি নজিরবিহীন”।

“কেন্দ্র টাকা দেওয়া বন্ধ করে দিয়েছে কিন্তু রাজ্য সরকার নিজেদের টাকায় সেইসব প্রকল্পের কাজ চালু রেখেছে। গত ৫ বছরে জেলায় জেলায় মোট ১০৫ টি প্রশাসনিক বৈঠক হয়েছে। পরিকাঠামো ও অ্যাসেট গত পাঁচ বছরে দ্বিগুণ বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে” , বলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

আধার কার্ড প্রসঙ্গে তিনি বলেন যেহেতু সকলে এখনো এই কার্ড পায়নি তাই আধার কার্ড সকলের জন্য বাধ্যতামূলক করা উচিত নয়।

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today announced the portfolios allotted to the minsters of her Cabinet.

The first Cabinet meeting of the new West Bengal government was held today after the Chief Minister and her Ministers were sworn in at a grand ceremony at Red Road, attended by thousands of people along with several dignitaries.

She announced some of the  decisions taken in the first Cabinet meeting held today at Nabanna.

Today’s Cabinet decisions: 

  • A resolution thanking Ma-Mati-Manush was passed
  • A decision was  taken to give 10% relief on band pay for state govt employees from July, 2016
  • A Directorate for tea gardens will be formed in north Bengal
  • Process of formation of 5 new districts to be sped up
  • Focus would be given to young generation in the next five years

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday directed the traders to ensure that prices of essential commodities are not raised during the next two to three months. During the task force meeting at Nabanna on Thursday, Banerjee told the traders forum to work together to arrest price hike and directed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to keep a vigil on the markets.

The prices of vegetables and fruits are somewhat stable during the last few months and the Chief Minister appreciated the traders for keeping the prices under check.

The next meeting of the task force has been called 15 days later wherein the prices would be checked. This apart, the West Bengal Chief Minister also cautioned traders against price hike of potatoes and urged bureaucrats to see to it that potato prices do not rise. Presently, potatoes (chandramukhi variety) cost Rs.14 per kg and the jyoti variety cost Rs.12 per kg.

Farmers are getting around Rs.10 per kg compared to Rs.3 that they got last year and are getting a good price for their produce. But if the prices go up, then the Government would interfere

The Government is taking all efforts to ensure that potato crisis does not arise.

In fact, Bengal has the lowest inflation among states according to the latest economic survey from the Central government. The Chief Minister said that it was the result of the state’s better performance in agriculture.

“The latest Economic Survey published by the Central Government has noted that our State has shown the lowest inflation rate in the country (less than 3%). This distinction could be achieved due to our continuous monitoring of prices of essential commodities in Task Force meetings held regularly,” Mamata Banerjee posted on the Facebook.

বৃহস্পতিবার নবান্নে খাদ্য সামগ্রীর দাম নিয়ন্ত্রণ নিয়ে গঠিত টাস্ক ফোর্সের সঙ্গে বৈঠক করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। শাক-সবজি, আলু সহ অন্যান্য খাদ্য সামগ্রীর দাম নিয়ন্ত্রণে রাখতে কৃষি ও খাদ্য দপ্তরেরে আধিকারিকদের নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

বিশেষত আলুর দাম নিয়ন্ত্রনের ওপর বিশেষভাবে নজর দেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। বর্তমানে আলু চাষিরা ১০ টাকায় আলু বিক্রি করে দিচ্ছেন ফলে বাজারে প্রায় ১২ থেকে ১৪ টাকায় বিক্রি হচ্ছে।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী এদিন টাস্ক ফোর্সের আধিকারিকদের জানিয়েছেন, এই মুহূর্তে গোটা রাজ্যের আলু পরিমাণ কতটা তার হিসেব চেয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। খাদ্য সামগ্রীর দাম নিয়ন্ত্রণে প্রয়োজনে ১৫ দিন অন্তর বৈঠক করার নির্দেশ দেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

এনফোর্সমেন্ট দফতরের পুলিশ আধিকারিকদের নির্দেশ দেওয়া হয়েছে বাজারগুলিতে নজর রাখতে। রাজ্য সরকার সব্জির দাম নিয়ন্ত্রণে রাখতে পারায় মুখ্যমন্ত্রী খুশি।

কৃষিক্ষেত্রে যেন কোনভাবেই বিদ্যুতের ঘাটতি না হয় সেদিকে নজর রাখতে হবে। বাজারগুলিতে নিয়মিত খাদ্য সামগ্রী বিক্রিরও নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

ইতিমধ্যেই পশ্চিমবঙ্গ ধারাবাহিকভাবে কৃষি কর্মণ পুরস্কার জিতে নজির গড়েছে। এদিন কৃষিক্ষেত্রে আরও একটি সাফল্য পেল পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার।পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মুদ্রাস্ফীতির হার দেশের মধ্যে সবচেয়ে কম।

“আপনারা জেনে খুশি হবেন কেন্দ্রীয় সরকার সম্প্রতি যে অর্থনৈতিক সমীক্ষার ফল প্রকাশ করেছে সেখানে দেখা গেছে সারা দেশের মধ্যে পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মুদ্রাস্ফীতি সবচেয়ে কম। তিন শতাংশের কম হারে রাজ্যে মুদ্রাস্ফীতি হয়েছে”। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী তার ফেসবুক পোস্টে একথা জানিয়েছেন।

Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal on Friday decided to start a new food security scheme to provide over three crore beneficiaries foodgrains at Rs 2 per kg, taking to seven crore the number of people getting subsidised food.

“Currently our government gives rice at Rs 2 per kg to 3.33 crore people in the state. We are starting a new scheme for food security from January 27.

“Three crore additional people will be included in this system and will get wheat and rice at Rs 2 per kg,” Banerjee said at the state secretariat Nabanna after a cabinet meeting.

She also said an additional 70 lakh people have filled up forms to get subsidised food and will be getting cereals at half the market price.

Altogether around seven crore people will be entitled to benefits of the state government’s food security schemes, she said.

The cabinet also adopted a rehabilitation package for tea garden workers in northern West Bengal as well as for people living in Jangalmahal – the Left Wing Extremism affected areas of the state.

In a bid to come out ahead in the digital revolution race, the state government plans to put in place an e-governance structure by 2020.

Speaking at INFOCOM on Saturday, state finance, IT, commerce & industries minister Dr Amit Mitra said that as the first step, the state government is rolling out the optical fibre network under the National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN) project.

He said that the target was to connect all the 3.354 gram panchayats in Bengal through the broadband network so as to spread e-governance to the last yard.

“All the district headquarters are already connected through the network and video conferencing between the district magistrates and Nabanna is a reality now. Mamata Banerjee wants the digital revolution to be spread to the grassroots,” he added.

According to Dr Mitra, 244 out of the total 247 registration offices in the state have already been connected through broadband. Besides, 341 blocks too have been connected through broadband and more than 7,000km of optical fibre line has already been laid in 565 gram panchayats.

Commenting on the telecom revolution in the state, Mitra said that the teledensity in West Bengal is now tou ching 75%. The urban teledensity in the state is 135.77% while that of rural Bengal is 49.8%. The mobile subscriber base in the state has crossed the 79 million mark out of 93 million people.

“What is most interesting is the internet connection in the state. There are 19.20 million internet subscribers in the state, out of which 7.03 million are rural individuals. This implies that rural Bengal is gradually becoming tech savvy,” the minister said.

Dr Mitra also stressed on the need to give major push to animation and startups.

“Bengal was always known for innovation, so I think we could do well in ani mation. I know Bengalies doing extremely well in this profession overseas,” he added.

Commenting on startups, he added that in the US, startups are the largest employment generator. He said he feels that this can happen here as well.

“We have already come out with a venture capital fund for MSME, which includes startups as well. A reality show on startups is being and we have already received around 1,500 applications from potential entrepreneurs,” Dr Mitra added.
