Going by statistics for the last six years, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Bengal has indeed come a long way since the dark days of the Left Front. Be it general production or manufacturing, in all areas of industry, indices of production have shown significant improvement.
The manufacturing index for financial year 2011-12 was 0.94 per cent, which rose to 6.6 per cent during 2016-17 (April-January period). In general industrial production, corresponding figures were 2.14 per cent 6.97 per cent, respectively. During 2015-16, when the percentage increase in industrial production in India was 7.3, that for Bengal was 10.6.
These data have been have been published in the book, Let’s Unite to Grow Together, published by the Trinamool Congress Government to commemorate its sixth anniversary.
Among the projects being currently implemented in the State by big companies include a Rs 40,000 crore project by public sector unit SAIL, Rs 6,600 crore by Matix Fertilisers, Rs 4,600 by Aditya Birla Group, Rs 4,000 crore by ITC (Integrated Food Park and Infotech Park), Rs 700 crore each by OCL Cement and JSW Cement, Rs 700 crore by Exide, Rs 378 crore by Coca-Cola, Rs 350 crore by PepsiCo and Rs 250 crore by Amul Diary.
The Left Front Government had, till March 31, 2011, set up 89 industrial clusters. This number has shot up to 343 (till March 31, 2017) during the six-year tenure of the Trinamool Congress Government. Besides industrial clusters, Mamata Banerjee led initiatives to set up some unique clusters like Rural Haat, Urban Haat and Karma Tirtha. Till March 31, 2017, 31 such haats or markets have been established.

অতীতের তুলনায় শিল্পোৎপাদনের সূচক অনেকটাই বেড়েছে। তা জেনারেল প্রোডাকশন বা ম্যানুফাকচারিং ক্ষেত্র যাই হোক না কেন, সব ক্ষেত্রে শিল্পোৎপাদনের সূচক বেড়েছে। মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় ক্ষমতায় আসার পর ২০১১-১২ সালে ম্যানুফাকচারিংয়ের সূচক ছিল ০.৯৪ শতাংশ। সেখানে ২০১৬-১৭ সালে (এপ্রিল-জানুয়ারি পর্যন্ত) তা বেড়ে হয়েছে ৬.৬ শতাংশ। জেনারেল ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়াল প্রোডাকশনের ক্ষেত্রে ২০১১-১২ সালের সূচক ছিল ২.১৪ শতাংশ। ২০১৬-১৭ সালে (এপ্রিল-জানুয়ারি পর্যন্ত) তা বেড়ে হয়েছে ৬.৯৭ শতাংশ। গোটা দেশে ২০১৫-১৬ সালে যেখানে শিল্পোৎপাদনের বৃদ্ধি ৭.৩ শতাংশ, সেখানে রাজ্যের বৃদ্ধি হল ১০.৬ শতাংশ।
মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের ষষ্ঠ বর্ষপূর্তিতে প্রকাশিত বই, ‘লেট’স ইউনাইট টু গ্রো টুগেদার’-এ তথ্য সহকারে শিল্পোৎপাদনের সূচকের মাধ্যমে রাজ্যের শিল্পে অগ্রগতির কথা উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে।
নবান্ন সূত্রে জানা গিয়েছে, পেপসিকো ইন্ডিয়া ৩৫০ কোটি টাকা বিনিয়োগ করে ফুডপার্ক তৈরি করছে। ম্যাটিক্স ফার্টিলাইজার ৬৬০০ কোটি টাকা বিনিয়োগ করেছে। তাদের সংস্থার প্রথম পর্যায়ের কাজ শুরু হয়ে গিয়েছে। ওসিএল সিমেন্ট ৭০০ কোটি টাকা বিনিয়োগ করেছে। জেএসডব্লু সংস্থা ৭০০ কোটি টাকা দিয়ে সিমেন্ট কারখানা তৈরি করেছে। যা মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় ইতিমধ্যে উদ্বোধন করেছেন। আমূল ডেয়ারি ২৫০ কোটি টাকা বিনিয়োগ করেছে। আদিত্য বিড়লা গ্রুপ ৪৬০০ কোটি টাকা বিনিয়োগ করেছে। অন্যতম সেরা জুতোর কোম্পানি ফরিদা গ্রুপ গয়েশপুরে জুতোর কারখানা তৈরি করেছে। সেইল ৪০ হাজার কোটি টাকা বিনিয়োগ করছে। আইটিসি চার হাজার কোটি টাকা খরচ করে ইন্টিগ্রেটেড ফুড পার্ক এবং ইনফোটেক পার্ক তৈরি করছে। কোকাকোলা ৩৭৮ কোটি টাকা বিনিয়োগ করছে। হলদিয়ায় ৭০০ কোটি টাকা বিনিয়োগ করেছে এক্সাইড। ইতিমধ্যে যার উদ্বোধন করেছেন মমতা।
শিল্পের প্রসারে ২০১১ সালের ৩১ মার্চ পযর্ন্ত ৪৯টি ক্লাস্টার তৈরি হয়েছিল। এ বছরের ৩১ মার্চ পর্যন্ত সেই সংখ্যা বেড়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে ৩৪৩টি। মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় ক্ষমতায় আসার পর রুরাল হাট, আরবান হাট বা কর্মতীর্থ তৈরির পরিকল্পনা করেন। এ বছর ৩১ মার্চ পর্যন্ত ১৬টি এ ধরনের হাট তৈরি হয়েছে।
