Derek O’Brien’s intervention to protest against the ECI’s removal of the Chief Secretary and Home Secretary of Bengal in the dead of night, who then leads the party walkout out of the House
Sir, I wish to make a point. Sir, I do not at all want to disturb the Zero Hour nor have given notice under Rule 267. Sir, I will take 30 seconds. We don’t want to disturb. Sir, in the dead of night, the Chief Secretary, the Principal Secretary, the Home Secretary have been removed by the Election Commission. Sir, it has all the power. It has all the power to do it. They can also say, ‘I am wearing a blue shirt, not a white shirt.’ We don’t want to disturb the House. In protest against what the Chief Election Commissioner is doing, we, my party, the All India Trinamool Congress, is walking out for the day.
