Kolkata Municipal Development Authority (KMDA) has started a scheme to make Kolkata a more environment-friendly city. The scheme, Taru Mitra, was recently inaugurated at Rabindra Sarovar in Kolkata.

The State Government already has the Sabujshree Scheme, by which mothers of children born in government hospitals are handed a sapling each. The purpose is for the family to take care of the sapling like it would the child, so that after 20 years, when the tree would be fully grown, the wood can be sold to benefit the person, who is now in his or her youth.

KMDA officials said they were very happy with the response to the scheme. On the first day itself, 1,500 people expressed interest in being a part of the scheme.

Gradually, educational institutions and corporate organisations and government offices would be made a part of the scheme. Advertisements would be taken out in newspapers too.

As part of the scheme, people have to adopt a tree or taru. The sapling can be either collected from KMDA or one can plant a tree of one’s choice. The tree would be taken care of by KMDA, for which the adopter has to pay Rs 1,000 per year. The name of the adopter would be engraved on a plaque and placed beside the tree.

In this connection, it should be mentioned that HIDCO has a similar scheme for Rajarhat-New Town, which was started a year back.

 

‘তরু মিত্র’ প্রকল্পের সূচনাতেই মিলল তুমুল সাড়া

ইচ্ছে মতো পচ্ছন্দমাফিক গাছ লাগান -এই লক্ষ্যে পরিকল্পিত ‘তরু মিত্র’ প্রকল্পের সূচনা করা হল। আনুষ্ঠানিক ভাবে প্রকল্পের প্রচারে নামল কেএমডিএ৷

একটি পদযাত্রার মাধ্যমে আবেদন করা হল, নিজের পছন্দ মতো বেছে নিন গাছ৷ দত্তক নিন৷ অথবা গাছ লাগান নিজের পছন্দমাফিক৷ প্রচারের প্রথম দিনেই অনেক মানুষের সাড়া মিলেছে। পরিবেশ সচেতনতা বাড়াতেই এই ব্যবস্থা চালু করা হয়েছে৷

শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান, সরকারি অফিসেও এই আবেদন করা হবে, সংবাদমাধ্যমেও এ ব্যাপারে বিজ্ঞাপন দেওয়া হবে বলে দন্তর সূত্রে ইঙ্গিত মিলেছে৷

কেএমডিএ সূত্রের খবর, পছন্দমতো যে কোনও গাছ দত্তক নেওয়ার জন্য বছরে দিতে হবে এক হাজার টাকা৷ নতুন গাছ লাগানোর ক্ষেত্রেও টাকার অঙ্কটা একই৷ গাছ দত্তক নেওয়া ব্যক্তির নাম ফলকে লেখা থাকবে৷ দন্তরের ওয়েবসাইটেও নাম উল্লেখ থাকবে৷

West Bengal Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBHIDCO, in short, HIDCO), which is developing New Town into a smart city, has chalked out elaborate plans to welcome visitors to the city on the occasion of Durga Puja.

On the day of Panchami (Sept.25), a panchapradeep, a type of special lamp designed by famous architect Prabir Mitra, will be lit up at Akhanksha More in New Town, renamed Mangaldeep by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Lighting a panchapradeep is an old custom, meant to welcome those returning home to join the festival. Dhakis will also be present to greet tourists.

The whole of New Town will be lit up. An increasing number of tourists, including foreigners, have been coming to New Town over the past few years, attracted by Eco Park (renamed Prakriti Tirtha by the Chief Minister), Mother’s Wax Museum and other attractions. Keeping this in mind, HIDCO has drawn up plans to make Durga Puja a memorable occasion for them.

At Eco Park, dhakis in coloured attire will also play dhols to give the entire area a festive mood.

Food is intimately connected with the Durga Puja festival. To make this year’s festival a special one, Café Ekante (also named by the Chief Minister), the speciality restaurant at Eco Park serving Bengali cuisine would be preparing mouth-watering menu for the days of the Puja. Bhoger khichdi, along with a vegetable dish, fried fish, chutney and papad for Rs 199 plus taxes per plate. The famous bhuna khichdi, traditionally of Dhaka, will be available for Rs 329 plus taxes per plate. Other khichdi-specific fries will also be available.

The menus have been prepared to cater to all sorts of clients. Café Ekante has become very popular and it is expected to be packed during the Puja days.

 

দুর্গা পুজোয় অতিথি আপ্যায়নে চমক দিতে চলেছে হিডকো

সকল পর্যটক ও প্রবাসীদের দুর্গা পুজোয় অনন্যভাবে আপ্যায়ন জানাতে উদ্যোগ নিল হিডকো কর্তৃপক্ষ। নিউটাউন সাজবে নতুন ভাবে পুজো উপলক্ষে। মহালয়ার দিন, চতুর্থী থেকে ষষ্ঠী রংবেরঙের পোশাক পরিহিত ঢাকিরা ধাক বাজিয়ে অতিথিদের আপ্যায়ন করবেন।

চারটি স্টেজ তৈরি করা হবে চারটি জায়গায়, আকাঙ্খা মোড়, ইকো পার্ক, মাদার্স ওয়াক্স মিউজিয়াম, অ্যাকশন এরিয়া ১-এর বাসস্ত্যান্ডে।নিউ টাউনকে আলো দিয়ে সাজাবে হিডকো। পাশাপাশি পৃথিবীর সপ্তম আশ্চর্যের প্রতিরুপগুলিকেও আলো দিয়ে সাজানো হবে। মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর নামকরণ করা ক্যাফে একান্তে রেস্তোরাঁ যা ইতিমধ্যেই ভোজনরসিকদের মধ্যে জনপ্রিয়তা অর্জন করেছে, পুজো উপলক্ষ্যে আনবে কিছু বুফে মেনু। সপ্তাহান্তে এবং উৎসবের সময় আগে বুকিং করতে হয়।

হিডকো, নিউ টাউন কলকাতা ডেভেলপমেন্ট অথরিটি রাজ্য পরিবহণ দপ্তর এবং বিধান নগর কমিশনারেট একটি বৈঠক করেন নিউ টাউন ও বিধান নগরে যান চলাচল নিয়ন্ত্রণ করার পুজোর দিন ও তার পরে পরেই অনূর্ধ্ব ১৭ বিশ্বকাপের চলাকালীন।

After the huge success of the fair price medicine stores, the Bengal Government has now opened fair price fish shops. With the eternal demand for fish among Bengalis and the fluctuating prices of the non-vegetarian staple, these outlets are expected to be another major success.Favourites like

Favourites like hilsa, bhetki, pabda, prawns, among other varieties, are available at the shops. The fish here are both fresh and reasonably priced. On an average, they are Rs 30 to 40 less per kg than the market prices.

The fair price stalls have been opened at Bidhannagar, Karunamayee, Captain Bheri, Chinar Park, AJ Block (Salt Lake), Entally and Jadavpur. Additionally, there are 21 mobile stalls. After Kolkata, such stalls have been opened in Shantiniketan, Siliguri, Digha, Memari and Frasergunj.

 

ন্যায্য মূল্যের মাছের দোকান – রাজ্য সরকারের নতুন উদ্যোগ

বাঙালির রসনাকে তৃপ্ত করতে রাজ্য সরকারের নতুন উদ্যোগ ‘ন্যায্য মূল্যের মাছের দোকান’। ইতিমধ্যেই জীবনদায়ী ওষুধ সঠিক দামে কেনার জন্য রাজ্য সরকারের উদ্যোগে সরকারি হাসপাতালগুলিতে তৈরি করা হয়েছে ন্যায্য মূল্যের ওষুধের দোকান, যেখান থেকে বাজারের চেয়ে কম দামে ওষুধ কিনে উপকৃত হচ্ছেন সাধারণ মানুষ। এই সকল উদ্যোগগুলির বিপুল সাফল্য দেখে এবং সাধারণ মানুষকে নানা রকম মাছের আস্বাদ ফিরিয়ে দেওয়ার জন্যই এবার রাজ্য সরকারের এই নয়া উদ্যোগ।

শহরের জায়গায় থাকবে স্টল। সদ্য ধরা ইলিশ, পাব্দা, ভেটকি, চিংড়ি ইত্যাদি ঘুরবে ভ্রাম্যমাণ গাড়িতে। চলতি বাজার দরের চেয়ে কম দাম ও টাটকা।

রাজ্য মৎস্য দপ্তরের উদ্যোগে বাজারের চেয়ে কেজিতে অন্তত ৩০-৪০ টাকা কম দরে মাহ পাওয়া যাচ্ছে। বিধাননগর, করুণাময়ী, ক্যাপ্টেন ভেড়ি, চিনার পার্ক, এজে ব্লক, এনটালি বাজার, যাদবপুরেও এই মাছের স্টল খোলা হয়েছে। তাছাড়াও ২১ টি ভ্রাম্যমাণ স্টলেও থাকবে টাটকা মাছ। কলকাতা ছাড়াও শান্তিনিকেতন, দিঘা, শিলিগুড়ি, মেমারি ও ফ্রেজারগঞ্জেও শুরু হয়েছে এই রকম স্টল।

The Bengal Government has extended the coverage of its Swasthya Sathi health insurance scheme, to include several more categories of Bengal Government employees. The health security scheme would now cover 55.5 lakh more government employees and volunteers associated with various State Government developmental programmes.

The Swasthya Sathi health insurance scheme is one of the pet projects of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who wants health security to be prioritised for all those employed by the government, both permanently as well as part-time. She is in charge of the Health and Family Welfare Department.

In the last few months, the State Government has gradually added ASHAs (accredited social health activists), ICDS (Integrated Child Development Scheme) employees and volunteers, members of self-help groups (SHGs), home guards, NVF (National Volunteer Force) volunteers, civic police volunteers, rural police volunteers, disasters management volunteers, members of panchayat offices, including the contractual, part-time and daily wage earners, part-time faculty and contractual employees of colleges and universities under the State Government, and the contractual, part-time and daily wage earners under a few other departments.

Now, with this latest announcement, made via newspaper advertisements, Swasthya Sathi has come to include the following categories:

• Para teachers,
• Samprasarak/samprasarika of all Shishu Shiksha Kendras, Madrasa Shiksha Kendras and Madhyamik Shiksha Kendras,
• Contractual employees of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, State Rural Health Scheme and State Civic Health Scheme,
• ASHA supervisors,
• Doctors of State Child Health Scheme,
• Contractual homeopathic, ayurvedic and unani doctors and compounders, cleaners
• Other employees under State Urban Employment Scheme,
• Elected municipal representatives,
• Employees of various development authorities and civic local bodies,
• Contractual employees who are recruited in accordance with the specific approval of the State Finance Department and paid with money from the treasury of grants-in-aid,
• Teachers and non-teaching staff of primary schools, secondary schools and government-aided madrasah and their families.

 

স্বাস্থ্য সাথীর আওতায় এখন আরও ৫৫.৫ লক্ষ রাজ্যবাসী

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় ২০১৬ সালে শুরু করেন স্বাস্থ্য সাথী প্রকল্প। এই প্রকল্পের প্রধান বৈশিষ্ট্যগুলি হলঃ

• প্রতি বছর ১.৫ লক্ষ টাকা পর্যন্ত প্রাথমিক স্বাস্থ্য সুরক্ষা
• ক্যান্সার, নিউরো-সার্জারি, হার্ট-সার্জারি, লিভারের বা রক্তের অসুখ প্রভৃতি কঠিন অসুখের ক্ষেত্রে ৫লক্ষ টাকা পর্যন্ত সুরক্ষা
• স্বামী ও স্ত্রী উভয়ের বাবা-মা সহ পরিবারের সকলের জন্যও সুরক্ষা
• আগে থেকে থাকা কোনও অসুখের জন্যও সুরক্ষার ব্যবস্থা
• স্মার্ট-কার্ড ভিত্তিক, নগদহীন, কাগজহীন অন-লাইন ব্যবস্থা
• সম্পূর্ণ প্রিমিয়াম রাজ্য সরকার বহন করে এবং সুবিধা প্রাপকদের থেকে কোনও অবদান নেওয়া হয় না

এই প্রকল্পের আওতায় আছে সমাজের বিভিন্ন স্তরের মানুষ। যেমনঃ

এনারা ছাড়াও ত্রি-স্তর পঞ্চায়েত সদস্য ও গ্রামোন্নয়ন দপ্তরের বিভিন্ন চুক্তিভিত্তিক/আংশিক সময়ের/দৈনিক নিযুক্ত কর্মী, কলেজ ও বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের আংশিক সময়ের শিক্ষক ও চুক্তিভিত্তিক কর্মী এবং বিভিন্ন দপ্তরের চুক্তিভিত্তিক/আংশিক সময়ের/দৈনিক নিযুক্ত কর্মীদের এই প্রকল্পের আওতায় আনা হয়।

এবার আবারও মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের উদ্যোগে এই প্রকল্পকে আরও সম্প্রসারিত করে

• রাজ্যের আরবান এমপ্লয়মেন্ট প্রকল্পে নিযুক্ত সাফাই ও অন্য কর্মী, নির্বাচিত পৌর প্রতিনিধি,
• বিভিন্ন উন্নয়ন কর্তৃপক্ষ এবং নগরীয় স্থানীয় সংস্থার কর্মচারী,
• অর্থ দপ্তরের নির্দিষ্ট অনুমতি অনুসারে নিযুক্ত এবং ট্রেজারির থেকে বা অনুদান থেকে মাইনে দেওয়া হয় এমন চুক্তিভিত্তিক কর্মী,
• প্রাথমিক ও মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষক ও অ-শিক্ষক কর্মচারী এবং পরিবার এবং
• অনুমোদিত সরকারি সাহায্যপ্রাপ্ত মাদ্রাসার শিক্ষক ও অ-শিক্ষক কর্মচারী এবং পরিবারদের

এই প্রকল্পের আওতায় আনা হয়েছে।

As per the instructions of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Birbhum district police has created an app to aid the local people of Santiniketan as well as tourists. The police, along with an NGO, has also set up a scheme to help the elderly people living there. These were inaugurated on September 8.

The app is named Rangamati, or ‘red soil’, the characteristic soil of the region. It has been named so by Mamata Banerjee herself. The name of the scheme, which was inaugurated alongside the app, is ‘Ashwas’, meaning ‘hope’.

The app (can be downloaded by clicking here) is meant to help the people of, and visitors to, Santiniketan with information of all kinds about the place, bus and train services, and emergency numbers. The app also has a red button, touching which one would be able to alert the local police. The administration has said that the app would also be of great help to the students of Visva-Bharati University, who come from all corners of the country and so are naturally unaware of all the facilities available.

The scheme is meant to help the elderly people of the region, many of whom live alone. One has to enlist one’s name under the scheme. There are two helplines, calling which up one can summon any help. An ambulance is also kept ready for emergency purposes.

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের নির্দেশে, জেলা পুলিশের উদ্যোগে স্থানীয় বাসিন্দা ও পর্যটকদের সুবিধার্থে চালু হল ‘রাঙামাটি’ হেল্পলাইন অ্যাপ। পাশাপাশি, পুলিশ ও একটি স্বেচ্ছাসেবী সংস্থার উদ্যোগে শান্তিনিকেতনের একাকী, বয়স্ক ব্যাক্তিদের যে কোনও রকম সহযোগিতা করার জন্য চালু হল ‘আশ্বাস’ নামক একটি প্রকল্প। গত শুক্রবার বিশ্বভারতীর লিপিকা প্রেক্ষাগৃহে এই অ্যাপ ও প্রকল্পের আনুষ্ঠানিক সূচনা হয়।

‘রাঙামাটি’ হেল্পলাইন অ্যাপটি যে কেউ ডাউনলোড করে তার থেকে বিশেষ করে শান্তিনিকেতন ও সংলগ্ন এলাকার সমস্ত তথ্য পাবেন। এ ছাড়া বাস, ট্রেন পরিষেবা, আপদকালীন জরুরি পরিষেবার সুবিধা পাওয়া যাবে। এ ছাড়া, এই অ্যাপে একটি লাল রঙের বোতাম থাকবে। যে কেউ বিপদে পড়লে সেই বোতাম টিপলে অত্যাধুনিক প্রযুক্তি মারফত পুলিশ সেই ব্যক্তির বিপদস্থল চিহ্নিত করে তাঁকে উদ্ধার করবে।

অন্য দিকে, অ্যপটির পাশাপাশি এ দিন শুধুমাত্র শান্তিনিকেতনের প্রবীণ ব্যাক্তিদের সাহাযার্থে একটি বিশেষ সুবিধাযুক্ত প্রকল্পের উদ্বোধন হয়। যে সমস্ত প্রবীণ বাসিন্দারা একা বসবাস করেন, তাঁদের যে কোনও রকম জরুরি পরিষেবা দিতে ‘আশ্বাস’ নামক এই প্রকল্পটি চালু হল। জানা গিয়েছে, প্রকল্পটির সুবিধা পেতে প্রথমে নাম নথিভুক্ত করতে হবে। দুটি হেল্পলাইন নম্বর রয়েছে। এই নম্বরে যে কোনও রকম বিপদে পড়ে ফোন করলেই মিলবে সহযোগিতা। এই প্রকল্পের জন্য একটি অ্যাম্বুল্যান্সও বরাদ্দ রয়েছে।

শান্তিনিকেতন হল বিশ্বের কাছে একটি অন্যতম জায়গা। এখানে অনেক মানুষ বেড়াতে আসেন। বীরভূমেও অনেক কিছু দেখার জিনিস আছে। তাই পর্যটক ও স্থানীয় বাসিন্দাদের সুবিধার জন্য এই অ্যাপটি চালু করা হয়েছে। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী এই অ্যাপের নাম দিয়েছেন।

The Bengal Government’s measures to weave events and initiatives around the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, as part of efforts to further popularise football among the young generation and take it to the grassroots, continues.

Now, the Education Department has taken a decision to arrange for 5,000 students to watch every World Cup match to be held at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata for free. The students will be selected from only among those who take part in sports.

Ten matches, including the final, are scheduled for the venue, which has been extensively modernised and renovated for the quadrennial showpiece.

All logistical requirements for watching the matches have been taken care of by the department. Besides reserving seats for 5,000 students for every match, 70 AC and non-AC buses for transport have been arranged too. Students coming from faraway places will be put up for the nights, if needed.

Students from schools, colleges, madrasahs and polytechnics – 2,000 each from schools and colleges, and 500 each from madrasahs and polytechnics – will be selected for every match. Schools and colleges have been asked to prepare lists of students who are interested in watching the matches.

 

ছাত্রছাত্রীদের বিনামূল্যে যুব বিশ্বকাপ দেখাবে রাজ্য সরকার

 

স্কুল কলেজের উঠতি ফুটবলারদের বিনা পয়সায় অনূর্ধ্ব ১৭ বিশ্বকাপ দেখানোর ব্যবস্থা করেছে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার। প্রায় ৫ হাজার ছাত্র মাঠে বসে এই ম্যাচ দেখবে।

প্রতি ম্যাচে এই ৫হাজারের মধ্যে ২ হাজার স্কুলের, ২ হাজার কলেজের, ৫০০ মাদ্রাসা এবং ৫০০ পলিটেকনিক কলেজের ছাত্রছাত্রী থাকবে। যারা অনেক দূর থেকে আসছে তাদের জন্য থাকা, খাওয়ারও ব্যবস্থা করা হচ্ছে।

যুব ভারতীতে তাদের জন্য তৈরি করা হচ্ছে আলাদা বক্স, থাকছে বিশেষ বরাদ্দ সিট। রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন প্রান্তের স্কুল কলেজ থেকে ছাত্রছাত্রীরা আসবে এই ম্যাচ দেখতে। যারা স্কুল কলেজে বিভিন্ন প্রতিযোগিতায় অংশগ্রহণ করে শুধুমাত্র তারাই পাবে এই ম্যাচ দেখার সুযোগ।

বিদেশি খেলোয়াড়দের স্কিল চোখের সামনে থেকে দেখার সুযোগ পাবে তারা। এসি ও নন এসি মিলিয়ে ৭০ টি বাসের ব্যবস্থা করা হয়েছে। রাজ্য সরকারের এই পদক্ষেপে স্বভাবতই ফুটবলপ্রেমী ছাত্রছাত্রীদের মধ্যে খুশির জোয়ার।

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday announced the formation of new boards for north Bengal.

One of these newly formed boards is the Rajbangshi Development & Cultural Board, for which MLA Ananta Deb Adhikari has been chosen as the Chairman and Vanshibadhan Burman as the Vice Chairman. The headquarters of the Rajbangshi Development & Cultural Board will be at Cooch Behar.

Along with this, the Kamtapur Language Academy was also formed- the headquarters of which will be in Jalpaiguri. Nrisingha Prasad Bhaduri will be the President of the Academy while Atul Rai has been chosen as the Vice-President.

Moreover, a Rajbangshi Language Academy is already in existence; Jalpaiguri MP Bijay Chandra Barman is the President of this Academy.

 

রাজবংশী ভাষার পাশাপাশি কামতাপুরি ভাষার জন্যও আলাদা অ্যাকাডেমি করা হবেঃ মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

 

রাজ্যে বিলুপ্তপ্রায় রাজবংশী ও কামতাপুরি ভাষাকে ‘অগ্রাধিকারপ্রাপ্ত’ হিসেবে স্বীকৃতি দেওয়া হয়েছে। রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন দপ্তরের কাজ ও প্রকাশনায় অন্যান্য ভাষার মতো এই দুটি বিলুপ্তপ্রায় ভাষাও স্বীকৃতি পাবে।
গতকাল শিলিগুড়ি সফরে গিয়ে এ কথা জানান মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। এই ঘোষণার পাশাপাশি তিনি রাজবংশীদের জন্য উন্নয়ন একাডেমি গড়ার কথাও ঘোষণা করেন।
মুখ্যমন্ত্রী জানান, “তৃণমূল সরকার ক্ষমতায় আসার পরই রাজবংশী ভাষার অ্যাকাডেমি চালু করা হয়েছিল। এবার সেই ভাষাটি রাজ্যের দপ্তরের কাজেও স্বীকৃতি পেল”।

তিনি আরও বলেন, এবার রাজবংশী ভাষার পাশাপাশি কামতাপুরি ভাষার জন্যও আলাদা অ্যাকাডেমি করা হবে। এই অ্যাকাডেমির চেয়ারম্যান হবেন নৃসিংহপ্রসাদ ভাদুড়ি। এই অ্যাকাডেমি প্রায় হারিয়ে যাওয়া এই ভাষার উন্নয়নে কাজ করবেন। তিনি জানান শুধু স্বীকৃতিই নয়, প্রায় হারিয়ে যাওয়া ভাষাগুলোকে যাতে ফিরিয়ে আনা যায় এ ব্যাপারে প্রতিষ্ঠিত দুই অ্যাকাডেমির পাশাপাশি কাজ করবে রাজ্য।

রাজবংশী উন্নয়ন পর্ষদের চেয়ারম্যান হলেন অনন্ত দেব অধিকারী, এবং ভাইস চেয়ারম্যান হলেন বংশীবদন বর্মণ।

Kolkata has managed to significantly bring down the number of accidents -both fatal and non-fatal -in 2016 in comparison with the previous year.

The launch of the Safe Drive Save Life campaign, coupled with strict enforcement of speed rules in the city seem to have made the difference, claim top Lalbazar officers.

According to the latest road accident report – based on leading cities of India – prepared by the Union ministry of road transport and highways, 2016 witnessed 388 fatal accidents on Kolkata’s streets. There were 421 fatal accidents in 2015 and 431 in 2014.

Not only did the number of fatal accidents fall by 7.8% but also the total figure of non-fatal accidents dropped by a substantial 18%.

A comparison with other cities will put things into perspective. In 2016, Delhi saw 1,591 people dying on roads and Chennai witnessed 1,183 deaths.

Similarly, there were a total of 4104 accidents in the city in 2016 compared to 4981 in 2015. The severity of accidents (number of persons killed per 100 accidents) is at an all-time low of 9.9, much lesser than Mumbai (16.6) or Delhi (21.6).The national average is 19.8.

Between July 8 and December 31, 2016 – after the safety drive was launched – number of deaths of helmetless drivers came down to 32 (from 61 during the corresponding period in 2015).

২০১৫র তুলনায় ২০১৬ সালে কলকাতায় পথ দুর্ঘটনায় হতাহতের সংখ্যা কমেছে আট শতাংশ। মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর চালু করা ‘সেফ ড্রাইভ সেভ লাইফ’ সচেতনতা অভিযানের পাশাপাশি গাড়ির গতিবিধির ওপর কঠোর নজরদারির ফলে এটি সম্ভব হয়েছে।

কেন্দ্রীয় সড়ক পরিবহণ মন্ত্রকের পেশ করা রিপোর্টে দেখা গেছে ২০১৬ সালে কলকাতার রাস্তায় মর্মান্তিক পথ দুর্ঘটনা ঘটেছে ৩৮৮টি। ২০১৪তে যে সংখ্যা ছিল ৪৩১ ও ২০১৫ সালে ৪২১টি। পাশাপাশি, ২০১৬ সালে কলকাতায় পথ দুর্ঘটনার সংখ্যা ৪১০৪, যা ২০১৫ সালে ছিল ৪৯৮১।

শুধু যে মর্মান্তিক পথ দুর্ঘটনা ৮ শতাংশ কমেছে, তাই নয়। পথ দুর্ঘটনার সংখ্যাও কমেছে ১৮ শতাংশ।

অন্যান্য শহরের তুলনায় কলকাতায় দুর্ঘটনার সংখ্যা অনেকটাই কম। ২০১৬ সালে দিল্লীতে মর্মান্তিক পথ দুর্ঘটনা ঘটেছে ১৫৯১টি, চেন্নাইতে ঘটেছে ১১৮৩টি।

দুর্ঘটনার প্রকটতা (প্রতি ১০০টি দুর্ঘটনায় মৃতের সংখ্যা) সব থেকে কম কলকাতাতেই, ৯.৯%। যা মুম্বই (১৬.৬%), দিল্লী (২১.৬%) বা জাতীয় গড় (১৯.৮%) এর তুলনায় অনেক কম।

সেফ ড্রাইভ সেভ লাইফ সচেতনতা অভিযানের পর ৮ই জুলাই থেকে ৩১শে ডিসেম্বর ২০১৬ এর মধ্যে হেলমেটবিহীন বাইক আরোহীর মৃত্যু কমে দাঁড়িয়েছে ৩২এ (যা ২০১৫ সালে ছিল ৬১টি)।

The Secretary General of Trinamool Congress, Partha Chatterjee, addressed a press conference today. He hit back at the National President of BJP.

Here are 10 things he said:

  1. Those who are advising the BJP National President do not know the history or geography of Bengal. Or else they would have informed him that Bengal has won the Krishi Karman for agriculture five times in a row.
  2. They would have told him that United Nations has awarded the first prize to Bengal’s Kanyashree Scheme. Bengal is number one in building roads. We are number one in education. Bengal is leading among States in the MSME sector. They are jealous of Bengal. That is why Mamata Banerjee is being targeted.
  3. Demonetisation was a monumental scam. We have seen how BJP purchased land ahead of demonetisation. Those who are immersed neck-deep in corruption are saying there are no charges of corruption against them.
  4. Who were the architects of the Gujarat riots? Why was there so much polarisation in UP during elections? They are giving swords to children. How can this be the political agenda of any party?
  5. (During the Left Front rule) How many rallies had the BJP organised against the step-motherly treatment by the Centre towards Bengal? The BJP did not fight during the Singur and Nandigram movements. Where were they when a mute girl was raped? Do they have any history of struggle in Bengal?
  6. Every time during elections, the BJP carries out political vendetta. TMC leaders are arrested by central agencies. These intimidation tactics won’t work. We are accountable to the people of Bengal. They will decide the course of action for the future.
  7. The people of Bengal have elected Mamata Banerjee to office for a second time. From demonetisation to the hurried implementation of GST or the land movement — she has always fought for the people’s cause.
  8. The Centre helped Assam and Bihar during floods, but not Bengal. The State Government, under supervision and guidance of the Chief Minister, carried out relief measures; the Centre did not offer any help. The Centre has also stopped funds for several schemes.
  9. It is easy to sit behind closed doors and give advice about polarisation and violence. He is giving lectures on icons of Bengal. They have put Deen Dayal on the same pedestal as Swami Vivekananda.
  10. My advice to Mr Shah would be to learn about Bengal first.

 

 

বিজেপির বাংলার ইতিহাস, ভূগোল, অঙ্ক কোনটাই জানে না: পার্থ চট্টোপাধ্যায়

আজ তৃণমূল ভবনে সাংবাদিক বৈঠক করেন পার্থ চট্টোপাধ্যায়। সেখানে তিনি বিজেপির সর্ব ভারতীয় সভাপতিকে কটাক্ষ করেন।

১. বিজেপির সর্ব ভারতীয় সভাপতিকে যারা বোঝাচ্ছে, তারা বাংলার ইতিহাস, ভূগোল, অঙ্ক কোনটাই জানে না। কৃষি ক্ষেত্রে বাংলা ৫ বার শ্রেষ্ঠ পুরস্কার ‘কৃষি কর্মণ’ পেয়েছে।

২. আমরা কন্যাশ্রীতে বিশ্বজয় করেছি। আমরা ১০০ দিনের কাজে, রাস্তাঘাট উন্নয়নে বাংলা প্রথম সারিতে আছে। আমরা শিক্ষায়, ক্ষুদ্র ও মাঝারি শিল্পে বাংলা প্রথম। এই ‘প্রথম’ কথাটা ওদের ভালো লাগছে না। তাই ওরা মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়, তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস মা-মাটি- মানুষের সরকারকে আক্রমণ করছেন।

৩. নোটবাতিল সবচেয়ে বড় দুর্নীতি। নোটবাতিলের সময় বিজেপি রাজ্য স্তরে টাকা জমিয়ে বিভিন্ন রাজ্যে স্থায়ী জমি কিনেছে। তারা আজ বলছে বিজেপির বিরুদ্ধে কি কোন দুর্নীতির অভিযোগ আছে? যাদের ডান ও বাম পাশ দুর্নীতিতে ভরা তারা বলছে কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের বিরুদ্ধে দুর্নীতির কোন অভিযোগ নেই।

৪. রাজনৈতিক সন্ত্রাসের কথা বলতে গেলে বলতে হয় উত্তরপ্রদেশে নির্বাচনের আগে এত হিংসা ছড়িয়েছিল কারা? গুজরাত দাঙ্গার নায়ক কারা? বাচ্চাদের হাতে তরোয়াল তুলে দিচ্ছেন। এটা কি কোন রাজনৈতিক দলের কর্মসূচি হতে পারে?

৫. পশ্চিমবঙ্গের ভালোর জন্য, জনস্বার্থে বিজেপি কটা মিছিল করেছে? কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের বিমাতৃসুলিভ আচরণের বিরুদ্ধে বিজেপি কটা মিছিল করেছে? বিজেপি সিপিএমর ৩৪ বছরের অত্যাচার দেখেনি। ওদের সিঙ্গুর, নন্দীগ্রাম দেখতে হয়নি। বোবা মেয়ের ধর্ষণ দেখতে হয়নি। ওদের বাংলায় সংগ্রামের কোন ইতিহাস আছে?

৬. যারা রাজনৈতিকভাবে পেরে না উঠে তৃণমূল সাংসদদের, মন্ত্রীদের, নেতা নেত্রীদের বিভিন্ন ভাবে কেন্দ্রীয় সংস্থার অপব্যবহার করে তাঁরা ভয় ভীতি প্রদর্শন করছেন। বছরের পর বছর ধরে যখনই নির্বাচন আসে তখনই তারা সেই তাসটা বের করার চেষ্টা করেন। পরিষ্কার বলছি, আমরা শুধু ভয় পাই বাংলার মানুষকে, মানুষই ঠিক করে দেয় আগামী পথ কি হবে।
৭. মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় বারবার মানুষের জন্য সংগ্রাম করে উঠেছেন, বারবার মৃত্যুর মুখে পড়েও জনতার আশীর্বাদ ও দোয়াতে তিনি এবার ফিরে এসেছেন, মানুষের পাশেই দাঁড়িয়েছেন। তা সে নোট বাতিলই হোক বা পরিকল্পনা ছাড়াই জিএসটি প্রয়োগই হোক, বা জমি আন্দোলনই হোক – প্রতিটি ক্ষেত্রে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় মানুষের পাশে দাঁড়িয়েছেন।

৮. এই যে কদিন আগে বন্যা হয়ে গেল, কেন্দ্রীয় সরকার তার সাহায্যের হাত বাড়ালো আসামে, বিহারে, আর পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মুখ্যমন্ত্রী একলা পরিশ্রম করে সকলকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে আর্থিক অনটনের মধ্যে দিয়েও তিনি মানুষের পাশে দাঁড়িয়েছেন। কেন বন্যার জন্য কোনও বরাদ্দ পেল না পশ্চিমবঙ্গ? আপনারা তো প্রতিনিধি দল নিয়ে কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের কাছে যে পশ্চিমবঙ্গে ত্রাণ দেওয়া প্রয়োজন। কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের প্রকল্প তো এমনই বন্ধ হয়ে যাচ্ছে, এমনই টাকা আদ্ধেক হয়ে যাচ্ছে। কেন অর্ধেক হয়ে গেল ৪৯টি প্রকল্পর টাকা?

৯. বন্ধ দরজার মধ্য থেকে সংগঠন চালানোর চেষ্টা আপনারা করছেন, সমাজের বিভাজনের রাজনীতি আপনারা করছেন। লোককে মারবার পরামর্শ দিচ্ছেন। ডেকে নিয়ে গিয়ে ছাত্রদের বলছে বিবেকানন্দ ও দিনদয়াল এক আসনে বসবে। এখানে এসে বলছে বিবেকানন্দর বাংলা রবীন্দ্রনাথের বাংলা।

১০. তাই অমিত শাহকে বলছি, আগে বাংলা সম্বন্ধে জানুন, শিখুন। পার্টি ও সরকার যে আলাদা সেটার শিক্ষা হয়নি।

The refurbished Salt Lake Stadium, which will host the final of the Fifa U-17 World Cup, handed over to FIFA today by Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Giving it a 10/10 rating, LOC tournament director Javier Ceppi said the revamped stadium is at par with any world-class venue that has hosted a Fifa World Cup final.

“If you ask me it looks like a museum, be the entrance or the inside. Or like the teams said it looks the lobby of a five-star hotel,” Ceppi said, thanking West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for getting the work done in two and half years’ time.

“They (West Bengal government) took the challenge. This stadium now can be compared to other stadiums in the world that have hosted a Fifa World Cup final.”

The revamp of the stadium, formally known as Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan, which was taken up on February 1, 2015, cost the West Bengal government more than Rs 100 crore.

 

আজ নবরূপে বিবেকানন্দ যুব ভারতী ক্রীড়াঙ্গনের উদ্বোধন করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

বিবেকানন্দ যুব ভারতী ক্রীড়াঙ্গনে অনুষ্ঠিত হতে চলেছে অনূর্ধ্ব ১৭ বিশ্বকাপের ফাইনাল। আজ নবরূপে বিবেকানন্দ যুব ভারতী ক্রীড়াঙ্গনের উদ্বোধন করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

স্থানীয় আয়োজক কমিটির ডিরেক্টর জাভিয়ার কেপি এই নতুন ক্রীড়াঙ্গনের ভূয়সী প্রশংসা করেন। তিনি বলেন, ফিফা বিশ্বকাপ ফাইনাল যে যে মাঠে খেলা হয়, এই মাঠটিও এখন সেই মানের।

রাজ্য সরকার ১০০ কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ে এই স্টেডিয়ামের সংস্কার করেছে। এত অল্প সময়ে মাঠকে নতুন ভাবে সাজিয়ে তোলার জন্য তিনি রাজ্য সরকার ও মুখ্যমন্ত্রীকে ধন্যবাদ জানান।
