Resist acquisition bid, Didi tells farmers

With Bengal coming under the Election Commission on December 11, Mamata Banerjee called upon the farmers to rise against all acquisition bid by the CPM government for the next few weeks. The Trinamool Congress chief also urged the bureaucrats and police to set their foot down against such illegal activities till the EC takes over. “No more looting of land. Elections will be declared soon. We will not allow it anymore. Let the new government come and declare a new policy. I have come to know that even today, the government sent police to Rajarhat to grab land. There is no end to their greed even after acquiring 25,000 acres of land,†the Trinamool chief said. Ms. Banerjee, speaking further on the CAG issue, sounded nonchalant. “CPM is known for its double standard. It is shouting over the CAG findings in Parliament, when it didn’t allow any discussion on the CAG report in the West Bengal assembly. It has ruined the state and is trying to act smart in Delhi, moving hand in hand with the BJP. If there can be probe in Maharashtra, Karnataka, why can’t there be a probe on the land loot in Rajarhat?†the Trinamool Congress chief said, reiterating her support to the Congress led UPA government at the Centre for full five years.
